Talk Pages[edit]
are for talking. This belongs in the user space, not on a talk page. - Reanimated X 19:16, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- It started on my user page, but it didnt look right since it was just a sort of discussion. So I cant start a discussion on my talk page? I'm sorry, I'm kinda new to the wiki scene, and I am confused on people deleting stuff. Is there a way I can get my text back? I can't really move it if its gone... and I spent a lot of work typing it up, and I would hate to have to do it again. =( --Rex 19:24, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- There is absolutely nothing wrong with adding stuff like that to your talk page, there is however a policy against removing stuff from talk pages C4K3 Talk 19:26, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's clearly a discussion to me. That's why i thought he/she can keep it here. - J.P.Talk 22:13, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, Cake, for restoring my 'essay'. My heart sank a little to see all of that work just disappear.
- My apologies if my post is kinda straddling the fence for talk pages. Please let me know if I have any other issues since I am very new to the wiki community. Once I figure out how to make subpages on my main userpage, I look forward to making an "Engineering Pad" where I can discuss some of the strange builds I come up with, and move my henchmen discussion there. I just like talking about builds I make that actually are effective, but I have no other forum to log my discussions on (since I am not a real fan of PvX wiki).
- @J.P. Thanks for the support and clarification. And I am a 'he'. --Rex 09:17, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

- As Reanimated X suggested you can create something like User talk:Rexivus/Engineering Pad or something similar, then just link it from either here or your main page C4K3 Talk 09:30, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Henchmen Contest 2009 Submissions[edit]
I have to say I am pretty proud of my ritualist builds that I submitted. I have used these on Xandra and Razah in GVG scrimmages to test the AI out, and they did very well as a support character. It doesn't really mean anything now that I show them.
Here is what I submitted as my favorite bar:
Wielder's Remedy | Mend Body and Soul | Vengeful Weapon | Xinrae's Weapon | Weapon of Warding | Power Drain | Leech Signet | Ether Signet |
12 Restoration, 10 Inspiration Magic, 8 Spawning Power (5/200 unused points)
How Xandra used it is she would maintain Wielder's Remedy and would put one of the 5-energy weapon spells that both cured a condition and stole life, and maybe Warding for those who wouldn't be attacking. She could interrupt actions to keep her energy maintained, and use Ether Signet as a last resort. Condition removal was very awesome, and there were some utility in the interrupts. Weapon spells cannot be dispelled, and if her enchant was taken off, it has a rather short cooldown. Mend Body and Soul was the most efficient heal in terms of energy cost, amount healed, and recharge time. Xandra has no spirits, but the team that took her could buff her build even more by bringing a spirit or two.
This would be a very versatile build to complement any balance build and allow for many teams to fit her into a support role, and it has been tested to work well with the AI. Also, I took the fact that people would know these builds already, and could build counters to the most popular henchmen, so I made a build that had the least amount of counters.
I strayed from spirits and ashes on the henchman because positioning is very important in terms of spirits, and ashes tend to cut into energy pools since it can bounce to negative energy when the weapon is replaced, disabling the henchmen for a few seconds and leaving it vulnerable to Mind Wrack and such.
Its not OP, but its not weak either. I tried running it myself, and it works out, but its rather difficult to play as a human, especially with interrupts and latency issues.
Here are the two other submissions, which all three sets were submitted for both formats:
Wielder's Remedy | Mend Body and Soul | Vengeful Weapon | Xinrae's Weapon | Weapon of Warding | Power Drain | Leech Signet | Resurrection Signet |
12 Restoration, 10 Inspiration Magic, 8 Spawning Power (5/200 unused points)
Which is the same as above, but a rez instead of an ether signet. I do not like Death Pact because a smart team would just need to respike the rez'd guy and kill the rit with him.
Mighty Was Vorizun | Wielder's Remedy | Soothing Memories | Vengeful Weapon | Weapon of Remedy | Weapon of Warding | Power Drain | Leech Signet |
12 Restoration, 8 Inspiration Magic, 7 Communing, 8 Spawning Power (1/200 unused points)
This was a build similar to above, but made it look less risky for a ritualist henchmen build. The ashes protect the caster without affecting energy pools too much, and soothing memories helps with the healing energy management. Weapon of Remedy is used to make the build focus more on condition-removing.
I didn't expect my builds to win at all, but I was proud that I was able to innovate a build that worked decently in testing, and I had to share it to other people (though its not like people read my user page anyway). It was definitely fun to use in GVG scrimmages with my guildies, but I guess this will never see the light of PvP again once they take heroes out. I will be working casually into making a more human-friendly build that allows for smarter e-management and less reliance on interrupts, and any suggestions would be great.
(I reserve my comments on the winning ritualist builds, but congrats to them for being chosen.) --Rex 18:38, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- Are you sure that Ether Signet was being used properly? There's been a bug note on it for ages saying that it was impossible for AI to use. Vili 点 20:37, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- I used it during my Legendary Vanquisher times for Ogden, and he used to use it perfectly. Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 20:39, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, Ether Signet worked GREAT! The rate of her skill output meshed really well with the cooldowns of the energy gain skills. She always kept ether signet for last, and it would give her enough jump to maintain her output, since heroes LOVE to burn energy.
- I spent a little over a week focused purely on making a Rit support build that worked weapon spells and without spirits. I think my main determination was to make Wielder's Remedy the star skill since I have rarely seen it in any build, and it didn't seem like a horrible skill. I did extensive testing in Zaishen Challenge, Zaishen Elite, as well as guild hall scrimmage duels with friends in "pressure" situations, and then our guild's GVG Night, and she always proved her effectiveness with the Ether Sig build. Since they said AI would be tweaked, thats how I adjusted the other two variations of the build. She is kind of a jack-of-all-trades support... she does a little bit of everything, damage, prot, condition removal, healing, interrupting, and many of those techniques at the same time with one skill, which is why I thought she would be useful, but not overpowered. She was a very good "well-rounded support" that would be easy to work off of since the team can worry less about condition removal and resort to more focus on hex removal, and a player bringing a spirit would trigger her Mend Body and Soul for even more condition removal. Otherwise, her weaknesses are knockdowns, hexes, and blackout. Actually, during our GVG Night, the only way the other team could get her down was with Blackout. Xinrae's really helped with the spikes, and with Wielder's Remedy, it made Xinrae an easier choice over Weapon of Remedy.
- I have noticed that Ether Sig gets a lot of grief, but I think that is another underestimated skill, and I find it VERY useful on a ritualist to counter energy pool drops when switching in and out of ashes. --Rex 22:29, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- I did more focused testing using Ether Signet on different heroes in different situations, and Ether Signet can be used correctly. They may not use it like you want it to, depending on the build, but they have used it correctly. I dont know the protocol of changing the note on the skill page, but I left a comment on the skill talk page. --Rex 23:14, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
My PC Gamer Entry[edit]
I need a place to put until I create my GW2 wiki page. I'm a bit too busy/lazy to do it now.
- “If you were a monster in the Guild Wars universe, say a troll or one of the afflicted, how would you get back at the adventurers for wrecking your cozy dungeon?”
- Well, as a giant baby yeti, I’d be too naive to understand why they are even in my home, but I’d be angry that they aren’t here to play with me…
- My home would be known throughout the lands as the Crystal Cove off the shore of Frostgore Sound in the Northern Shiverpeaks. The norn have been noticing a threat of crystal monsters around the area, but, being the stubborn warriors they are, they have been going in one by one to investigate the issue, and nobody has returned. Recently, an asuran by the name of Rexx has journeyed all the way to the Crystal Cove to follow up on rumors of a powerful energy source deep within the caverns, but he too has disappeared after entering the cave.
- Adventurers (in Story Mode) who travel to the cave would join together with two of the former Destiny’s Edge members: Eir, who is investigating what has become of the missing norn, and Zojja, who has read up on Rexx’s research and is interested in finding him to learn of the results of his findings to possibly use in her own tinkering. The party would navigate through the icy, crystallized labyrinth, following a trail of dead norn, parts of Rexx’s golem, and asuran tools and notes that are found deeper and deeper into the cave. Crystallized monsters, such as bats, rats, and spiders, roam the corridors, and natural booby traps threaten the party. Icicles will drop randomly from the ceiling, boulders would roll down various curving paths, and the party would need to push huge crystal blocks around (like a tile puzzle) to make openings big enough for the group (mainly Eir and any other norn or charr in the party) to travel further.
- The adventurers would eventually arrive in my central chamber, my home – a circular room with a slick, icy floor, lined with rocky ledges and crystal shards scaling the walls up to a high ceiling, with little rays of sun/moonlight beaming down from above, lighting the chamber floor. They will find me, Kodi, the giant baby yeti, sitting, playing with a bat in one hand and rat in the other, not noticing that my rough playing has squeezed all the living life out of them hours ago. Just above one of the main ledges is a giant crystal, and hiding behind it in a tiny crevice is Rexx, trapped and afraid to emerge after barely slipping by me before.
- Once I spot the adventurers, I let out a loud yell in glee of having new friends to play with, “KODI PLAY!” causing a boulder to fall behind the party, blocking the entryway out. As I run towards them, Rexx yells out to the adventurers, explaining that I think they are toys, but that I am so strong that even my norn toys couldn’t survive my rough-housing. The party would need to scatter and slide across the ice as I chase them around, eventually stopping and charging straight towards one of the members. If I run into a wall, I will be knocked down, dazed, and made more vulnerable to attack. After a few seconds, I would get up and chase around again.
- At around 67% health, I would look down at my bloody arm, start to cry, and I would realize that these toys are not fun to play with. I leap onto the rocky ledge, right under the huge crystal Rexx is hiding behind, and angrily start throwing rocks at the party. I yell, “PLAY NICE!”, causing the chamber to rumble, and crystal bats, spiders, and rats stir out of the tiny crevices and start attacking the party members. After throwing a few rocks, I eventually start throwing large crystals, which gives Rexx an idea. He informs the party that the crystals are actually energy-storing crystals that can absorb energy from light until released by a user. He suggests charging up the large crystals in the beams of light from above until they get enough energy to release a beam out. While dodging my projectiles and handling the swarms of crystallized monsters, party members can grab the large shards of crystal, run to the rays of light on the icy floor, charge up the crystal, and then release its energy in a beaming ray at a target (GW2’s elemental weapons). After I have thrown down three large shards, Rexx suggests that the team shoot the energy from all three charged crystals at the big crystal above me to charge it, and he would be able to shoot the energy down on me; however, all three crystals need to be shot roughly around the same time to beam enough energy to charge the huge one. If successful, Rexx’s activated crystal would blast me off the ledge onto the floor, dazed, and vulnerable to attacks. After a few seconds, I’d get up, jump on the ledge, and continue throwing more rocks.
- At 33% health, I’d let out a huge ROAR, and a huge boulder would drop from the ceiling, revealing more light down the chamber, but shattering the icy floor, dropping the party into the icy water. The shards of crystal would drop to the water floor; however, crystallized sharks would be swimming around and would start attacking the party (GW2’s underwater environments). Party members would have to fight/swim to the bottom and bring the crystals up to the surface onto floating ice platforms in the light to charge and shoot the beams at the huge crystal simultaneously to, once again, knock me off the ledge onto what’s left of the chamber floor, leaving me dazed and vulnerable until I gather myself again on the ledge.
- Once defeated, the huge crystal would fall from the wall (with Rexx) on top of me, and Rexx would slide down the rubble, stopping at my cold feet. The damage from the ceiling would leave enough ledges for Rexx and the party to climb out, and adventurers would be able to take big shards in their bags to the collector back in Hoelbrak for their rewards, proving they had survived Crystal Cove.
- Later on, (in Explorable Mode) adventurers can return to the Crystal Cavern and assist Rexx in continuing his studies on the crystals, especially with the threat of the giant baby yeti gone and new pathways and water routes now open due to the destruction of my home. Though, little do they know about the true danger that has emerged from the icy waters of my chamber…--Rex 23:10, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
