Rit spammers ?[edit]
You might have been updated in a way that let you think that all should be bounded to your wills. I give you one last piece of advice, should you continue to try to trap your own party members: for some you might suceed to look like, but there are people out there, far more experienced, who are. Keep your jokes for the new comers and you might have a npc named after you.

I am surprised that some players didnt knew what is Order Of Apostasy.
I am even more surprised that some players are still willing to try something they dont know.
We killed Joffs The Migitator in 8 seconds on the first attempt in hm.

Matchmaking in alliance battles[edit]
There is nothing more random than alliance battles when it comes to matchmaking.
During a battle the alliance loose to a guild grp.
The battle after a simple pug in wich i play make this same guild grp kiss the ground.

PAX 2009 Video[edit]
- Kristen demonstrate 2 valuable qualities: 1) she is able to explain clearly and precisely what she does and why she does it with few words. 2) she demonstrate her ability to discern the specifics of video games arts (ex: easily identifiable sterotypes, when gameplay does not require the opposite, of course). She is also beautifull, that makes 3 in fact.
- Linsey: her wiki picture present a different linsey than the one i saw in the video. In the video she is more... she will have to wait for the release date of gw2 to know what.
- Regina: is small.
- Matt (hope that's the name of the guy with a blue shirt) seems to have a sharp, fast mind with well structured thouhgts. I find him to be sympathic.
- Daniel Dochiu: he does not need to speak perfectly english to be interesting. A strange strenght emanate from this man.
- Joe : i dont know why, i like him.
- The microphones: sometimes almost as talkative as their wielder, when not hexed with vocal minority.

The Spearmen[edit]
I have had the opportunity to read some posts on the spearmen website. They are strong, they rule, yes, that's true. They earned the right to be arrogant and to call "the others", us, the average gw players, scrubs. At a larger scale humans too rules the world with their will to get power over everything no matter the cost. But when you think of it, that's not the best thing that ever happened to our little blue planet. Yseron - 90.28.87.112 22:25, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

A caravan they call the World Of Tyria[edit]
Travelin' across the World of Tyria
Lion Arch Central, Monday mornin' road
15 horses & 15 restless riders
Three conductors and 24 sacks of mail
All along the southbound odyssey the caravan rolls out of Kryta
and moves along past houses, farms & fields
Passin' travelers that have no name, and outposts full of old heros,
And graveyards of rusted armors
Chorus:
Good mornin' Tyria, how are you?
Say don't you know me? I'm your native son!
I'm a caravan they call the World of Tyria,
I'll be gone 500 miles when the day is done
Dealin' cards with the old men in the club cart
Ecto a point, and nobody's keepin' score
Hey now pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
And feel the wheels rumblin' 'neath the floor
And the sons of Pullman porters & the sons of engineers
Ride their daddys' magic cartwheel made of steel
Mothers with their babes asleep, rockin' to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the road is all they feel
Repeat Chorus
Night time on the World of Tyria
Changin' cars in Venrati, Maaguma
Halfway home, we'll be there by mornin'
Thru the Elon darkness rollin' down to the sea
And all the towns & people seem to fade into a bad dream
And the dusty road still ain't heard the news
The conductor sings his song again
"The passengers will please refrain:
This caravan has got the disappearin'road blues"
Repeat Chorus

Maps creation[edit]
I went to discover that a map i had made some years ago for Wolfenstein Ennemy Teritory was still played until 2 or 3 years ago. I even found a video on youtube. I hadnt any 3d modeler so the props all had to be done with q3 rad brushs and patchs. And since i'm no artist, i let you immagine the pain in the ass.
- Video here
- Screens with all details turned to minimum for a fps gain i suppose
My best memory for this map was the creation of a hamster wheel used to open/close a door. The mechanism used for the dynamitable obelisk was soon to be used by other map makers. Both mechanisms had never been used in any q3/Wolf ET map until then...
For q3 i had made a version of the millenium falcon with all the rooms inside for my collegues when we were still working at the same video game company. Suprisingly enough the q3 rad aas was still able to keep up with complex interiors even on a 500Mghz intel. 16 people all equiped with a grenade launcher and cluster grenades, one of the mods i had done for q3, inside the millenium was one thing we never tried twice ( i later found that the limit of spawnable entities was around 255 at that time and a cluster would release successive circular waves leading to a total of 64 grenades per player ). It crashed.
I also went across another early mod i had made full of bad things that even a debutant coder wouldnt do ( divisions with floating points numbers when granularity and precision does not matter, divisions not replaced by multiplications of constants stored in an array with carefull use of the bss for 2d polygonal areas detections, the use of normalised vectors for projections on planes when in fact this sort of thing does not require any normalisation / sqrt at all, etc ). I think i blushed when i looked back at my old garbage code.

I dont have time to check changes for now since my lunch break is almost finished. There better be some relevant changes cause it's the last of the 3 or 4 areas i still play in gw. Yseron - 86.209.196.47 11:57, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
- I did a quick inspection in the uw from vale to chaos plains in order to see what is supposedly stiring but it seems that it's either at the end of the uw, or an haloween event.

- Nothing really changed bar making two of the quests a bit more of time-consuming to be on the safe side, but not too great of a pain for a team that's almost totally comprised of Permas. Friends I know who UWSC have already made adjustments for the for changes (this was done in minutes... minutes after the update), even if they do Wastes or Pits with 2 or so Permas (to be safe), it only slows them down a few mins at most. What's been changed, from what I've seen, puts more pressure on the so-called 'balanced' teams, especially in the Wastes.
- All-in-all, this does nothing to the near-invulnerable Perma-Sins bar slowing them down a few mins, which is a joke considering the speed to which they can actually accomplish things. Apart from putting more pressure on organised teams Arenanet has done to nothing to address the abuse of the Permas in UW and other places. All that developer time they invested to slow the Permas down a few mins or so, what a joke. ~~000.00.00.00~~ 21:48, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Old Jeff Strain informations[edit]
Took with nostaligia from an old 2006 interview ( guildwars wikipedia page have 30 links to articles and interviews that a lot of people never read ):
1) Inter-operability: "All of our technology is developed in an engine-agnostic format; we can very quickly plug in the client component for different platforms. Certainly, all the back-end technology, the server technology, doesn't care what the host platform is at all, so we could very easily do versions of our games that inter-operate across different platforms."
2) Data centers: "Our server infrastructure is actually kind of reflective of our core technology. We have data centres all over the world - we have data centres in Europe, data centres in the US, Korea, Japan and Taiwan. As you know, when you create your account in Guild Wars, it's a global account - you don't pick one of those data centres or servers, you're not even really aware of them.
What happens is that it knows where you are, and when you play, you'll probably be connected to one of the European servers - if you're playing with your buddies, or by yourself, in general it knows your home datacentre. But if you want to play with me, and I'm on one of the US datacentres, the datacentres will communicate with each other and try to figure out the best place to host our game. They may decide that the total experience across both of us is going to be better if it hosts the game in Europe, and so it'll hand off my character - it migrates my character record temporarily to the European datacentre, you and I play our game, and then when we're done, it migrates my character back."
3) What we already knew about "no subscrition fee" and its real meaning: (...)"if I make two games a year and I do a good job, make sure that they're really cool and really strong, and that you want to buy them; that's about the same as what I would get if I was paying a subscription fee for one game over that year. You're right, it's a little bit less - but fundamentally, it's in the same ballpark. So, that's our goal - make sure that we make enough content, that it's cool enough, fun enough, and released on a regular schedule, so that we're just as profitable and can support the game to the same degree that a traditional MMO can."
Yseron - 90.28.76.248 22:20, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- And it took them 2 years to realise they should have made expansions instead of pretending they make a new game every year. Koda Kumi 21:24, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

I got a stupid idea[edit]
If an undead kill one your team mates, he can raise him from the grave (unless you resurect your mate fast enough). The attributes of your undead mate are increased by 4 and he becomes the ally of the undeads. To get him back to normal you must kill the undead who became his master, otherwise when killed, he stand up again after 30 secs. A party whipe reset the undead form of your allies.
Better yet, during haloween, the mad king turn a single player into a zombie, each time the zombie touch someone else, that someone else become a zombie and so on. The last man standing earn 100 ToT bags, how is that cool ?
Well...these are stupid ideas.

- Actually, in Dungeons and Dragons Online, when a player is killed by a Wraith or Specter, another Wraith or Specter will spawn from their corpse, so it's not such a stupid idea. elix Omni 21:10, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Alliance battle and gold trim capes[edit]
Today for a short come back to alliance battles i saw a gold trim cape monk rage quiting our team after she got plummered by a kind of new meta that give no chance to any formation because it whipes clumps of enemies so fast that they dont have 3 secs to react. My opinion on champions have changed. Yseron - 90.15.180.159 01:30, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Professions ( pve )[edit]
I was once asked why with all the professions available i never start new characters. There are quite a few reasons but some players may not like to hear it.
First of all, i like the other professions that i never play.
I really like them.
But everyday, leetzors of all kinds dont miss an occasion to remind me that if i was to play another profession, the possibilities offered to me would be be resumed to one or two builds:
- Start a ritualist ? You will be tied to play spirits spamer till the end of the ages...
- Start an ele ? You will end up throwing as much meteor showers as you can for the rest of your life and nothing else...
- Start an assassin ? Dont bring shadow form and you are sure you will never find a group...
etc.
Pve players tend to build around a unique context which consist in the tank being the only one under attack. When it fails, you got 6 leetzors that run in circles before dieing from horrible pains.
With my current characters, at least, i can sometimes hide one or two skills in my bar that are usefull to the team even in worst cases scenarios and protect others from themselves as much as they allow me to do so. When i wont be able to use them anymore, i will stop playing guildwars. From this point of view, the character Jean Yseron is an exception. But trust me, it took me some time before convincing a handfull of players that his build work. Yet, his debuts were quite humoristic as each time i would extract a key target under 5 secs, someone would congratulate the ele.
I am far from being elitist or from being "leet" and i dont add "way" after every build's name in gw. Because i know that if it's there, it's because the devs wanted you to figure it out in the first place. Each time you pronounce something like "sabway" you are in fact proving to the devs that you discover things the "late way".

Hard Laugh Mode[edit]
The mix of the addition of dhuum and z bounty lead people who have yet to conquer uw in normal mode to have irrational behaviors. This game makes me laugh. You win easely some matchs, then you get disconnections after disconnections, some leechers arrive, and all of a sudden, opposite factions are able to sync their actions as if they were all of the same guild. - For the moment, Luxons win an average of 7 matchs out of 10...on a map where Kurzicks have double the advantage. Yseron - Serge Yseron 22:46, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

- 2 issues: Luxons are better than Kurzicks on average. And map balance for grentz is reveresed. So you get what you get. Backsword 13:59, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
The more...the less....[edit]
I'm glad to have over-done uw and fow because for months, what have been left to party with, only knows cons, permas, 100b/mop, titles and achievments... This pretty well resume what gw have been all about for this last year. Why encourage people to play together when you can just pretend ?... It took a considerable time to see the party search panel land in the game. I'm still searching the invite button named: "come, whoever you are, we play for fun". When having a working build is not funny[edit]
Althought i like exhaustion above all, the duration of arcane langor is so short that agressive guild grps can simply ignore it. The main difficulties i had when playing with pugs and facing guild grps is that they generally sync to get down ennoying target: ele cast meteor while w/a shadow step and chain KDs, the monk does not have to heal during the first seconds that are sufficient to take you off. It's no miracle, it's just a kind of ritual. So i had to figure out how to try and minimize their efficiency. Note that holy veile is largely sufficient enough to counter what is shown below. Needless to say, this is retarded, and not fun to play, but it works on non experienced guild grps.

Sometimes, sacrifying an elite can be rewarding in term of survivability.

Ode to stinky maps[edit]
I looked at the map and despaired again.
Five they were but only god knows where they went.
I thought we bought a game named Factions
But for weeks now it seems we did only buy fractions.
chorus:
Ancestral lands,
Ancestral lands,
Where the hell anet made us land,
Ancestral lands,
Ancestral lands,
When the hell anet will land them a hand.
So we sent a message to the gods of Tyria,
But the only response we heard was a drama:
Sorry to disappoint, we are on holidays,
Up to the *tuuuut* you will keep it for a few more days.
chorus:
Ancestral lands,
Ancestral lands,
Where the hell anet made us land,
Ancestral lands,
Ancestral lands,
When the hell anet will land them a hand.

So, what's the plan ?[edit]
My last 3 interests are gone:
- It seems we are doomed to play in ancestral lands and that it is not perceived as a problem by anet.
- UW and Fow are less than interesting due to the only nearly identical teams clones that are allowed there.
- JQ and FA quickly become boring due to the lack of diversity in maps.
So what am i going to do next ? Hey...good question... Yseron - 90.28.82.64 23:24, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Too much alemoot[edit]
I almost forgot the music that goes with that character and add an incomparable touch of greatness.
