User talk:Shard/Dhuum
<3 Harold Ramis[edit]
Bless his heart because tonight would have been worse if I hadn't been watching GB during our Dhuum encounter. And my Para has pro skillz thnx.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 09:02, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- "This building should be condemned"
- "This place is GREAT! You gotta try that pole! When can we move in? I'm gonna go get my stuff!!!" ~Shard 09:10, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
So let me get this straight... the whole point of the first Dhuum stages is for your players to die and then get a "I got a Super Metroid for a Pet" /slash/ "Jumping off a tower in COD4" /slash/ "I'm Exhausted now, I WIN"** TACTIC...?? (**-from pretty much every major battle ever, Al'a Bleach/Naruto animus) --ilr 23:12, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- Basically yeah. Completely defeats the purpose of character classes, party formation, skills and builds. I refused to do it like that, and I was the only person in our party who didn't die and become a spirit...of course I was a paragon, and that is like cheating, but still...--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 23:25, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- On an unrelated note, the Shiro fight has degenerated to being soloable by a sin and only ever run by such. Is that what you want Underworld to become, Shard? Oh, wait. -- Armond Warblade{{Bacon}} 14:55, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Making each class have different skills would suck just as much, because as you know, Anet fails at balancing so ofc a few classes will have complete shit skills while the others are good to go and more desirable. Class discrimination much?--98.238.169.189 19:11, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- That reminds me of the one thing I don't like about FF6/FF3 (in the US on SNES for those who don't know). If you've played it then you are aware that at the start, only 2 characters--Celes and Terra--can use magic. The other characters all have special skills and abilities (Sabin has his blitz attacks, Locke can steal, Mog can dance/sing like a bard) but mid way through, all of the characters can learn magic from Espers and eventially, magic is all you will use (4 characters casting Ultima basically pwns everything) and that made me sad playing it, where as in FF4/2 Rydia and Rosa played certain party roles as casters, Kain and Cecil as melee, and god knows I did use all of their various skills or in FF3 the job system let you determine what kind of character you wanted to make them be (red mage, thief, white mage) which was brilliant fun. And thats the fun of RPGs--each class having certain abilities that you cater to for one reason or another. GW has slowly become uniform with the stupidity of PvE skills where choosing your character class is only cosmetic. I think for GW2 they should learn the lesson and just not bother making classes. Make everyone the same, just customizable by appearance and gender, that way I don't think I'm playing something I'm not. --*Yasmin Parvaneh* 19:34, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Or, they could get their game right and not fuck it up with PvE skills? NuVII 19:37, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Ow Nuke, sometimes you have these insane ideas! Lilondra 19:42, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, ideally, the point of having classes is so team work can be executed--you know, just like in sports how each person does something that contributes to over all tactics and that person's strengths. But then again, that makes sense.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 19:44, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

- Choosing my class is only cosmetic? Every class can spam SY + TNTF now? -- Armond Warblade{{Bacon}} 23:47, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- When we did UW the other night we were spamming 3 or 4 copies of save yourself. My para had it, Shard had it, Adrin's sin had it and Qaletaqa had it, so pretty much, yes.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 23:55, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- With SY at least, yeah, any weapon-using class can easily spam it. TNtF works just fine on a non-para since you only need to cover the downtime of when the para's copy is recharging. Vili 点 00:01, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

- You're forgetting Strago; I think Lore definitely counts as magic. Also, when you hit for 9999 in Melee too, casting Ultima is sort of pointless unless there's more than one foe (which most bosses were not) - you'd get, uh, three casts at most per turn using Quicken? Compared to at least 4 with melee... Vili 点 00:01, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- Usually you are fighing multiple enemies...and that spell destroys bosses! Omg. I like the SNES Insvsible + X-Zone auto kill trick the best myself. That was epic.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 00:13, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- Epic cheating. (I admit to using X-Zone to end the fight with Wrexsoul, though, that was just stupid encounter. >_> ) Vili 点 00:15, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, he was annoying. My favorite area is the Cult Tower...omg, that place was scary, and I thought it would just go on and on and on, I'd never reach the top. My favorite boss was the painting at the art dealer's house. The opera was pretty cool too. When I play it now, I don't cheat anymore, its more fun that way.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 00:20, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- I was bad and didn't have Life-3 for the Cultist's Tower, so all of my party would have died from Ultima. So, instead of fighting the conventional way, I just kept casting Rasp to hurt his MP (he has like 2 million or something crazy). All enemies in Cultist's Tower die when they reach 0 MP...so...he died and tried to cast Ultima, but failed. It was worth it. Vili 点 01:40, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

I hate UW and so I figured I'd hate fighting Dhuum. So, I just grabbed some friends who I knew would figure out how to kill Dhuum quickly (lolMobway). We all got shit drops too, and tbh I wont be doing UW again. It's just too gimmicky now and Dhuum is fucking boring. Can't wait until Anet shits all over FoW too <.< Karate Jesus 02:01, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sure that fighting Menzies will be much more satisfying. Vili 点 02:14, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- And I'm sure the Menzies wont be balanced around invincibil-OWAIT. Karate Jesus 02:24, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- Dhuum was a Dervish, would you expect anyone to not fight fire with fire? As long as Menzies is a Warrior or something it'll be alright. Vili 点 02:25, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- As much as I would like an end boss in FoW, please don't give them ideas to shit all over it. I still want one fun area.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 18:24, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

On the topic of Harold Ramis...[edit]
...did you end up watching Ghostbusters last night? I watched 1 and 2 + Trading Places over the weekend when I played GW.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 18:27, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

- I don't know...its just one of those films where I find something new everytime I see it...its the little things like facial expressions, hand gestures. The jokes never get old, its funny everytime. I know so many people who just love this movie like I do--shit even Zombieland was gushing over it. There aren't many films like that. For me there are 3 gods who make levels of film that are unequal--James Cameron for action, fantasy; Harold Ramis for comedy, morals, and character; and Clint Eastwood for everything else because Mr. Eastwood can do it all and has done it all.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 19:14, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

- Would you consider it blasphemous to play Ocarina of Time on virtual console using Gamecube controller, even though I have an actual N64 (somewhere...) ? I've never played it for real. Only cheated my way through on PJ64, lol. Vili 点 05:30, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- It's probably not much different than using the n64 controller. Although, PJ64 has really nice filters, and someone released a high-texture mod for Z64. ~Shard 05:35, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
