GWW:NBSPCUTDOATP[edit]
please be aware of this page, u put a refrence to the dictionary on a talk page. --Shadowphoenix 22:17, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Terribly sorry, but by its completeness and usage, I really consider the OED a sort of hybrid dictionary-encyclopedia, and I was using it encyclopedaically (that's a word, I swear, but I won't define it in order to conform with GWW:NBSPCUTDOATP). So I claim an exemption to the policy. I would have proposed a new draft of the policy with said exemption in place, but was afraid to click the link...
- Also, over a year before my first talk page edit; not bad. - THARKUN 23:44, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Unanimity[edit]
"I thought unanimity in debates was the usual standard."
The standard here (and afaik on most wikis) is consensus. Now what exactly consensus means is not clearly defined, but everyone I have heard about it agrees that it is less than unanimity, but more then simple majority. --Xeeron 12:40, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right; I used the wrong word. And when I posted that, I was thinking that my phrasing wasn't ideal, but I couldn't think of consensus .. so I just threw down what I did. Regardless, the pro-credit group seemed pretty lukewarm and the non-credit pretty adamant, so if you weight opinions, I'm pretty sure you win. Plus the issue seems to have resolved itself. But thanks for the clarification. - THARKUN 19:30, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Out of curiosity, how many of the above posters are admins? Yeah, that's what I thought[edit]
In response to that, if you read RfA's like Galils you will see that the process of becoming an admin means to paricipate in the admin noticeboard activitys --Shadowphoenix 05:02, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- related, my apologies. I expected this to be quickly resolved, but this is quite a big issue. I guess we (mainly I) just got a little out of hand in ranting. I'll try to tone it down a little. -- Wandering Traveler 05:04, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Problem is that admins go to sleep all at the same time lately. In a couple of hours will come Poke and tell us all to shut up XD.--Fighterdoken 05:06, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- That is why we need more sysops (like me XD) --Shadowphoenix 05:07, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict x2) Its not bad to have posted, or to add relevant information. And in fact your posts were all clarification after the original; its more everyone else throwing their two cents in that seemed pointless. I think about three of the posts under yours have any real merit in the dicussion - the rest is just speculation, calls for action, or arguing. Its not really the point of the page, at least as I see it. But then, apparently I see it differently than Galil (there a link for that comment, by the way, Shadow? I'm curious). - THARKUN 05:08, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- I can agree with that. and yes, we could use more Sysops. *hints to self*.
- heh, I'm probably not experienced enough anyways. but I'll second Tharkun, wheres the link to that comment? -- Wandering Traveler 05:12, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- One sec ill find it, come to think it may have been on his tlk page :P --Shadowphoenix 05:13, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- On a(nother) side note, this might be an example we could raise for the PoA RfA, since there has been some talk of "no more need." At the same time, do we always require immediate responses? Its not like the text goes away anyway, and at least in this case the offending has stopped (right?). - THARKUN 05:28, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- But sometimes they do not :P --Shadowphoenix 05:47, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Quite so; hence my idea of using it as support. The rest of my comment was just rambling, thinking of potential responses. - THARKUN 06:19, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Response[edit]
Augh, I guess that did go too generally >.<. my apologies about that: i'm more relating to the literal content of the story, not to those that support it. Its....difficult to explain. I'll take full responsibility for that one though. Thank you for pointing that out to me. -- Wandering Traveler 05:16, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- You know, I'd planned on checking in on your talk page for a response.. isn't that the norm? You confused me doing it here.
- But, I understand your use.. its more that I was thinking of potential responses but came against the thought that supporting the article means supporting perversion - ie, being a pervert. At least indirectly. I realize you're only try to brand the story or those who enjoy that type of 'literature' as perverts, but in my mind the label spreads. So I was just pointing that out - hopefully not in an overly harsh way.. but just mentioning that I think it does make the issue harder to deal with reasonably. (then again, after brains' action, I think the case is basically closed). - THARKUN 05:19, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- nah, nothing too harsh when its critisism :). anyways, I tend to post responses on others userpages...because I though it'd be the first place for them to look. they get that "you have new messages" thing, which is easier to see then the watchlist. but I'll try to change my habit >.< -- Wandering Traveler 05:24, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- You can do whatever you want. It just threw me off is all; I don't really care one way or another. - THARKUN 05:30, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Comments[edit]
Thanks for the comments on my RfA. I hoped to gain adminship, but it has failed. Thanks for the constructive comments, and take care. --People of Antioch talk 17:39, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

- I'm not worked up, though its hard to tell from text. I was just trying to clarify and throw in some reasoning while I was at it; sorry if my intent wasn't clear enough from my word choice. — THARKUN 22:13, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Okey dokey; just making sure. Hey do you know what washes down a waffle? another waffle *hands Tharkun a waffle* --Shadowphoenix 22:14, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Welcome back?[edit]
Topic says it all. If so, well, welcome back :) Calor 04:22, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hey Calor! I've never been fully gone, just got distracted from being involved anything but looking up skill caps, map info, etc. Once I wasn't paying attention to the people and concerns for a few weeks, I didn't have a big desire to try to catch up and rejoin background discussions. Basically, I've fallen back to being a casual player who uses the wiki - noticing the goings-on, but happy with how things are, so leaving the wiki to itself. I don't really foresee a change in that attitude, though I could start posting more now and then if you miss me.. ;) — THARKUN 06:59, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Of course we miss you -- Wyn 07:24, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. Also, I just looked at the CP and noticed someone got some new rights. Congrats on the sysopping, Wyn! — THARKUN 07:37, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, interesting. Well, whatever you do, enjoy yourself. The cabal hasn't rejected you yet :P Calor 19:34, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

GWO category?[edit]
Hey! I was adding GWO category to all the GWO members with Wiki profiles, but as your user page is so very clean I thought maybe you don't want categories cluttering it up. If you anyway want the category, just type [[Category:Users in Gwonline Guild|{{PAGENAME}}]] on your page. Cheers. --Lensor (talk) 10:22, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Tharkun's been gone for months... Wow, I miss him. calor (talk) 01:59, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm still around, just not contributing. I still fix typos when I see them, but generally I just use the wiki as a resource when I'm playing, which is increasingly rare these days. Life has been good to me, which is unfortunately bad for my presence here. And I miss you guys too. — THARKUN 06:50, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

happy birthday 2010[edit]
Happy birthday! (It has been 6 february for 1 hour and 37 minutes here) — Mini Me 00:36, 6 February 2010
- Thanks. Apparently I need to Talk more if the most recent two posts are birthday wishes from two different years.
- In case anyone cares, I live in DC and was trying to get back there today (Friday the 5th) from Belarus (where I traveled for work), but the blizzard shut down the airports. So instead, I'm in the other Washington (close, I know) for the weekend. Not what I'd planned for the birthday, but c'est la vie. — THARKUN 02:51, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- Congratulations =) -- Cyan 10:48, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
