Tagging
I've been doing some tagging, but had a question. Images such as these, are they to be considered screenshots or ArenaNet images? I believe I heard heavily edited screenshots like these were to be tagged ArenaNet and not screenshot, but I could be wrong. Please enlighten my ways, o Goddess of Editing! — Why 13:04, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Wiki noob idea
"I have also been working on an email to send to each of them explaining what has been done, and that they will no longer receive "You have new messages" alerts when they log in... -- Wyn talk 04:51, 30 June 2009 (UTC)" I had a thought about this, but I don't know if it would work. Would it be possible to transclude the feedback dev talkpage onto the user dev talkpage and have the user dev talkpage redirect to the feedback one? That way, someone would still be redirected to the feedback dev talkpage but every change made there would also appear on the actual user dev talkpage. If that's possible, couldn't that be a possible solution to the lack of "You have new messages" alerts? (Satanael 18:07, 1 July 2009 (UTC))
- I don't believe updates to a transcluded page generate modification alerts for the page into which the transclusion is done (since the code of the latter page never changes). (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 18:20, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- Are you sure? Because they show up on your watchlist (or, at least they do on Wikipedia, which I assume is the same here). I admit I have never had my user page transcluded, so I still have no idea if that could work. (Satanael 18:22, 1 July 2009 (UTC))
- (Edit conflict) x2 No. That is just going to make things more convoluted than it needs to be. This will in reality be a relatively seamless transistion, with the exception of the New message alert (which is being looked into also). If we can't work out how to change it, the staff will simply have to start using their watchlists more. I have this all worked out in my head, I just don't seem to be able to convey it on the wiki, so the discussion continues. -- Wyn talk 18:23, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hmmm, ok, I trust your head, though I'm not too sure how that would make things "too convoluted" since the userpage would still remain "invisible" because of the redirect. Not a big deal, just thought I would throw it out there in case it was helpful. (Satanael 18:27, 1 July 2009 (UTC))

You characters Elite skills
I stole your elite skills template from Alexa N Dryte so I could put it on Drogo and I noticed that you have Charge! in the template as "Charge!" and it doesnt check off the skill. I fixed it on your Alexa and your warrior. Just letting you know since you may be using these to keep up with the elites on all of your characters. Drogo Boffin 23:59, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- That was because someone changed her template before without telling anyone. "Charge!" used to check it off fine until the template was mucked with. (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 00:01, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- I addressed the issue when the skill name was changed, but Chaiyo chose to ignore me and changed my template. I have undone both his change to my template, and your change to Alexa's page. -- Wyn talk 00:02, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Quick question
Hey Wyn. If you have a chance could you look at my Character Page. For some reason the goals section isn't sitting up right with the titles section, and I can't seem to figure out why. It's probably something obvious, but since this page was created from something you originally designed, I'm sure you could figure it out. Thanks. —Rein 01:25, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Just in case
...This got buried and you missed my reply:
"I understand the issues, however, we have little choice atm. I asked for names for the task force, and it was me and poke, and I had to nominate poke. No one else volunteered or offered any other opinons, so rather than delaying the implementation of the namespace, Emily set it up for sysop only editing. That can be changed (from what I understand), but not today, and not without having more names. Now... I'm here, I'm willing, and able to do things in the namespace, so tell me what you wish me to do. -- Wyn talk 02:04, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, maybe I missed something, but when did you ask for names for the task force? I also recall you nominating both me and Erasculio when you nominated poke, and both of us accepting. Maybe I don't understand how that part was supposed to be set up, but I thought Emily said something about the non-sysop task force members being temporarily promoted to sysop so they could edit the feedback namespace, is that how it will work? If so, who does the promoting? (Satanael 07:54, 2 July 2009 (UTC))"
-Satanael 08:03, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- I know Satanael, the whole discussion got rather buried among other stuff. I will talk to Emily tomorrow about setting up a special usergroup for this and include you and Erasculio. Things just haven't gone the way anyone (especially me) was hoping. I'm sorry if I seem crabby about it, it's been a source of annoyance for me for the past couple of weeks, and it's NOT you, or Erasculio. I'm just trying to do my best to keep this moving forward in any fashion, and it's hard, it seems like there was absolutely no comment on anything for days and days after the namespace got implemented, and it's felt rather like I'm the only one that cares about it (though I know that's not true). It seems the greater wiki drama of Shard's arb com, Auron's rfr, and the election took everyone's focus off of this thing that we've been working towards for months and months. -- Wyn talk 08:08, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- It's okay, I hope it didn't seem like I was harping on you for this, I'm just excited and wanted to get rolling (for some reason I just got an image in my head of my dog whining at the door to go out...). I mostly just want to understand what is happening and what will be happening, which for some reason I never feel like I do on wikis. Anyway, it's 4AM, maybe we should both just call it a day and pick up again tomorrow. Thanks for sticking with it. (Satanael 08:18, 2 July 2009 (UTC))
Who's property is this?
Should [2] this be tagged as?: arenanet image
- Yes. The image of that monk and those weapons are all intellectual property of ANet, even if someone else drew it. That person could not, for example, sell that image as their own work without permission from ANet. -Auron 09:09, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- I think it would be more accurate to say that the image is partially owned by ArenaNet. The status of derivative works within American copyright law is pretty complicated. There was a very brief discussion a couple years ago about creating a separate tag for derivative works such as fan art which which didn't really go anywhere, it's archived at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Image use/Archive#More tag uncertainty. You could bring up the question at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Copyrighted content or Guild Wars Wiki talk:Image use. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 10:28, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Discussions
We are not discussing inside the feedback namespace? Why? I figured it would be more efficient to discuss issues for each page on the actual page's talkpage? (Satanael 19:14, 2 July 2009 (UTC))
- Because only sysops can discuss there. This is a community project. -- Wyn talk 19:16, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hmmm, stupid democratic values getting in the way of efficiency >:P On the other hand, most people won't really understand our discussion in the GWW space unless they can see it, so we should remember to link to the page when we discuss. (Satanael 19:20, 2 July 2009 (UTC))

Coding question
This is probably one of the simplest questions you will ever have to answer. I know that you are able to get the "show" text on the side of your page and for some of your templates it also shows your "show" text and when you hit the button it collapses into the shown text. I really wanna do that for my character page, is there anyway you can tell me what the code is for that specific function?
I would really appreciate it! I've been up almost 3 hours now trying to figure it out.

Hey Wyn, since this is my first Dragon Festival and based on what I read on the DF2009 page in order to get any presents (other than the mask) players in a district have to deliver more Celestial Charges than the grasps destroy. - Nothing, if it's ON TOPIC. If you wish to discuss what is and isn't a suggestion, start a new topic for it. However, bitching about it every time something is tagged as a suggestion and running the topic into the ditch is not productive. The suggestion tagging on Linsey's page is going to continue as is until the new namespace is opened up, and will continue afterwards (with slightly different rules). Linsey has asked that the topic hijacking stop, and asked me to put in place the additions to her suggestion notice because she just doesn't have time atm do deal with it. -- Wyn talk 04:49, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- But it's fine for you to be Vocal and Off-topic at the same time... IoW: Auron moved the topic to my page to kill the drama. And it would have worked, But then you used that section to tell me to STFU. I don't mind S'ing TFU either if it's for Linsey's health. ...just pointing out that we're all getting mixed signals here and you can't expect me to know when toes are being stepped on since I'm not privy to every Dev's whims like you are. --ilr 05:08, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Um, it was Erasculio that moved the section if I have read the history correct, and I told you both to stop on Linsey's page. I did it on Linsey's page, because the move of the topic actually ec'd my post which was also pointing out the new additions to the notice on the top of Linsey's page. -- Wyn talk 05:52, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

- Hai, here's another Question. Regarding feedback where other people add suggestions to a section when the original post had no suggestions in it... Aren't you just condoning Griefing? Couldn't just the post that has the suggestions be the one that's moved to THAT user's page instead of removing the entire section for Suggestions at that point? And I don't mean you'd have to move it, you could just tag the section and wait for someone else to move the 1 comment that contains the suggestion I mean. Wouldn't that be more fair? --ilr 20:24, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thing is, you can't just "remove" a comment from a topic. A) It's not allowed by policy, and B) this is a wiki, it will forever live in history. As soon as someone takes any topic down the path of being a suggestion, it's best to keep the topic together for continuity. As it is, when a topic gets tagged as a suggestion, it's NOT me that is suppose to move it, it's suppose to be the OP. I have out of courtesy been moving them, but at this point, I'm just deleting them because no one is getting the hint. The fact that other people taint topics is not something I can control, but I'll tell you, peer pressure works wonders... posting notes on their talk pages saying STOP IT!! or some such might make some people think about what they are posting more. The simple fact is... any topic that specifies changes to how the game works, are suggestions, and no one is getting the fact that Linsey and the rest of the Anet team CANNOT comment on anything that is a suggestion, so they need to just stop posting them on her page. Everyone else needs to stop discussing every topic that is posted on her page, because 90% of the time that discussion leads to suggestions. If you wish to discuss someone's topic on Linsey's page message them on their talk page, you guys can discuss and suggest to yourselves all you want and it won't pollute the topics on Linsey's page, and it won't be tagged for deletion and it will keep Linsey's page from becoming this leviathan that ends up breaking browsers. -- Wyn talk 20:33, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- "you can't just "remove" a comment from a topic." Wait a minute, back up... Tanetris did exactly that to my objection here, IE: isolated it from the section and he's an Op. AND YOU HELPED HIM, Isn't that a double standard?... Hijacking is Hijacking. If I started adding suggestions to random topics on Lin's page you wouldn't miss a beat in calling it Hijacking as usual and then someone would move that stuff to my page as well. I think I'd have the right to be really angry right now, but I'm going to be patient instead and keep trying to reach a mutually beneficial resolution instead. --ilr 21:23, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Wiki Links
Hey Wyn. Is it possible to change the color or a link (kind of like who you'd chance the a.live; visited; hover; & active in CSS for an html document) on this wiki? I've like to change the color of mine on my user space. Thanks in advance. Magic Talk 18:25, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

- And once someone creates this "wrong" user, then what do we do? - J.P.Talk 15:02, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
- You can't create a user account that begins with a lower case letter. The wiki doesn't allow it. I don't really get what you mean by "wrong" ones. If someone sees an image named File:User wynthyst dervish.jpg they should know it's mine, and it will appear in my list of images. If the username in the file isn't recognizable as the user, then yes, it needs to be corrected, say if it's misspelled, etc. The chances that someone creates and uses a username that is exactly like another active user except has a capitalization difference in the name is slim, and would most likely trigger a request to change the name for clarification purposes anyway. As for the amount of 'work' we create with this project for the sysops, well, we are dealing with 15,000+ user images.... if we have to move even 1/5 of them that's 3000+ unnecessary redirect deletions. If you wish to volunteer to do the deletions, then submit an RfA and become a sysop, since you have to have sysop rights to delete. -- Wyn talk 15:12, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Wyn I need help.
Wyn, Im not very good at templates so I built the page from scratch, if you look at my page you will see that the userbox chart on the left is stand alone, I want to make one o fthose charts that tell about my charecter to the left of it, but when i start building the box, show preview shows me it below userboxes! Wyn how do I do what I want to do?The Savior 11:20, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- Try doing this: at the start of your userbox space, before the '{| style=" ...' part, type this:
- The problem is that when you start making the new box, the way your coding it is making the page want to place the box below what is on the page, not next to it. You have to code the page to tell it to place it next to the userboxes.--Neithan Diniem 13:43, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Archive question
Im wondering if I can place an expandable section into my current talk archive, or if I can place a discussion there in a hidden section. I will not edit the discussion in any way, its for hiding that one discussion in particular, which if you check my new blog, you may see why. I know that I don't exactly go into my archive often, but its something Id really appreciate.--Neithan Diniem 14:25, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- The "expandable/collapsible" is a table class. You would simply put your text inside the table so:

Maybe I misunderstood.
So in the feedback namespace it prompts me to create something I translate as "feedback account",( the [I agree] button). I create that account just to see that I am restricted to edit pages in the feedback namespace. why? Did I misunderstood it and have to create a suggestion subpage in my user namespace and copy the template there? It's a bit confusing. --Boro 07:24, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
- The feedback namespace is not open for submissions yet. We are still working out the mechanics. Once it's finalized, everyone will be able to create their user suggestion pages. Until then, it's locked to only edits by sysops. We are discussing the mechanics at Guild_Wars_Wiki_talk:Feedback_organization -- Wyn talk 07:37, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

I can't change the images on this user. I moved images over a week ago, renaming the images as Bcstingg, being as bcstingg, but i didn't tag the redirects for deletion. Now someone has deleted all the redirects, so all the images are red links on the userpage. And i couldn't fix the links because though the image links are there on that page, it isn't there in the code. I'm pretty helpless. And if someone can change the image links, remember to remove the deletion tags on those. Someone has tagged those being unused. - J.P.Talk 19:40, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

- You can see what I did by looking at the history of the page I linked above. Basically, the template called a universal image name that started with the user's name, followed by the character's name. The template called for a lower case user name, when you changed it to uppercase, it couldn't find the image there. - In it's death throes, the fish thrashes and bashes, the flesh becomes bruised. In the absence of cool water, the fish heats up rapidly, as it's cooling system over loads. The bacteria in the fishes' flesh, gills, gullet and stomach, multiply rapidly. Out of the cool water, the warm temperatures allow them to multiply at a fantastic rate. I cannot remember my source, but I read somewhere that fish just out of the water, left in the sun, decays at a rate some 5 times faster, than a land animal in similar circumstances. Leaving fish in a fish bin for some hours without cooling is a cardinal sin. As you add more fish to the bin, the accumulative effect of the heat build up increases, as each fish is added. The fish at the bottom, literally begin to cook. If you have no ice, at least cover the spiked fish with a damp sack or towel, the thicker the better. As the sun heats up the cloth, the water in the cloth begins to evaporate, and you have set-up a fairly efficient heat exchange unit. But this only works if the wet sack covered bin is in the sun. Covering the bin and then placing it in the shade, builds a pretty efficient oven. Policy
What the wiki's policy about posting Facebook and Myspace links in userpages? I don't want to break a rule here.--Neithan Diniem 02:46, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- Feel free to post whatever links in your own space you wish as long as they aren't links to RMT sites, or other things that would violate the EULA, or RoC. In your userspace you can pretty much post whatever you wish, as long as it's not a violation of NPA, or advertising spam. -- Wyn talk 03:15, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

I can't edit this to change the image link to File:User Eloc Jcg cookie.jpg. Would you do this for me? - J.P.Talk 23:38, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- Er... when an image has lots of links to it, as that one does, do you really have to go and change all of them? Just keep the redirect - it doesn't hurt, and it's better than needlessly pinging watchlists (or indeed emails). Besides, aren't various people saying that you shouldn't be changing Eloc's images anyway? -- Brains12 \ talk 23:43, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- Me and Wyn disagree with that. - J.P.Talk 23:44, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

- No one has particularly said to me that i should stop. I just don't get it why is it allowed to name images by Eloc, when the user redirects to Eloc Jcg, so practically there is no Eloc. - J.P.Talk 00:01, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
- This just makes me really think that do we need usernames in imagenames at all. - J.P.Talk 00:08, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
- I think the fact that it's contested by a number of people (who seemingly have good reasons for that contention) should be indication enough that you should pause, at least until it's sorted out. - ps: I had received nc's letter no any detail result ,but still like last those letters -- Xpycy 10:24, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Please just wait for Gaile. I am not an employee of NCSoft, just another player like you. I know support can be frustrating, but you really have no alternative but to wait. I do feel for you, and wish there were something I could do to help, but it's really up to support to deal with. Gaile is a nice lady, who will look at your tickets and do what she can, but it takes some time. She doesn't work on the weekends normally, so yesterday would have been the first opportunity she would have had to look into the issue. - You should know, I was playing with the random page button, and for some reason, none of the images on this page display. -- Tha Reckoning 09:51, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- I make $20-30/hr generally, so when there is work, it's ok, unfortunately I'm at the whims of my clients, if they don't need me, they don't need me. It's better during the school year, as I teach Adult Enrichment courses for Community Education, which is a fairly reliable source of income (has been for 10 years at least). I can work as little as zero hours a week, or as many as 100+ it all depends on who needs me for what. The Zero hour weeks are sometimes the worst. It can be hard when I'm teaching and get large client projects at the same time, since I have to have time to do my class prep, as well as take care of my clients, but most of them have been with me for years now, so they are generally pretty understanding. Unless it's an emergency (dead computer, or infected computer) they are mostly willing to work around my teaching schedule since they know that is a staple for me.

Hubbard talk
and select Raw signature box. Then you upload your image that you wish. It can only be 19px x 19px. Take a look at GWW:SIGN for more details. -- Wyn talk 23:30, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

hi wynn there are major problems in the game
i emailed tech support but thought you might know or could help too. this weekend I and alot (and i do mean alot) of other people playing lost faction points when they transferred them to their alliance. i earned over 70k and lost 20k in transferring. today everyone in aspenwood kept getting logged out in PvP battle there and when they logged back in recieved a dishonorable. This happened to me also i was logged out 6 times in 1 hour the last time i recieved dishonorable. that time 3 other people got logged out at the same time in my party and they all recieved dishonorable also and they said they were missing faction points they transferred also. My guild has 10 alliances and 3 million + faction points i went to alliance chat to talk to them and the same thing was happening to alot of them also. is there anything you can do? i had a problem with a skill missing awhile back and emailed game support and it took almost 2 months to hear back. any help or suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated. I told some of them to email game support i don't know if they did i know everyone in my guild has. thanks--Jenn 02:40, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- Please note that Wyn is a player just like you and is not an Anet employee. Could you please explain how you get that your losing faction? I'm thinking that you guys are expecting double for donating faction, you will only earn double points in AB. Also how are you donating your faction? Are you just adding 5,000 to your alliance or are you buying Jade/Amber? Drogo Boffin 02:50, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- Because when they are transferred like i said above they vanish from my points but do not show up in my alliance, guild or my title track as being transferred. I know double points don't transfer that has nothing to do with anything I stated. And yes several people today are losing connection with the game server and then getting dishonorable when logging back in and I am not the only one this is happening to including missing points. I wrote wynn and the others that have helped me in the past in the hopes they might have an idea as to what is going on or what we need to do and yes i went to the help page and it was no help i and several others emailed support but like i said last time i did that it took almost 2 months before i even heard back and then they didn't have an answer.--Jenn 03:10, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- My statement about the double faction only applying to AB was to make sure you understood this, these things can be misunderstood. Also about losing your connection, that is happening to many thousands of people. Anets response to that is that it has nothing to do with their servers and it is either your ISP or something between your ISP and GW servers. As for the dishonorable status, this goes right along with the connection problems because for some reason it treats the disconnect as you leaving. Losing the Faction I have no idea what could cause that. You should post that here and it will bring it to Anets attention on here too. It may take support time to get back to you because they are at times flooded with people submitting tickets. I would like to check the faction transfer thing out for myself. I will be in game getting faction and donating it to see if this happens to me. Drogo Boffin 03:18, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- Your best shot @ a fix is sending a report to support, or posting on Gaile Gray's page --adrin 03:32, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

HappyBirdhday, Wyn!
If we were at a restaurant, I'd have them sing for you in Thai and bring us free dessert, but since this is a wiki and NOT a restaurant, you'll have to settle for the happy-birthday signatures of other users who don't actually care whether or not it's your birthday! :D
Hope this brightens your day. ^^ Raine - talk 21:49, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Not consistent?
Hmm, well I based this off of this page, which is probably one of the more used disambiguation pages. Perhaps you should remove the icons there as well? ~Ryuu[ Talk | Meow :3 ] 00:40, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

request for translating the summary of the clan en English
Hi, Wyntyst!
We have completed the translation of the summary. I just wanted to ask if this is enough, and we can keep context in Spanish?
In the rules for the Wiki (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_Wiki:Guild_pages) it is said that only summary is obligatory for translate.
We really want to have our Wiki in Spanish and only minimum required content in English.
Thanks for helping us,
ARDR Team --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Konstantin (talk).
- Actually, what the rules mean is that you need to make a small "summary" of any aditional content you add to your guild page. In the case of Guild:X Arcangeles Dragon X, you would need to add it for both the introduction section and the recruitment sections (even though, due to the small amount of content, maybe just a short english statement on the introduction section should be enough).--Fighterdoken 21:39, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
I believe we have just added all needed information. Can you check if this is enough, please? We will add more useful information about our site soon, but we believe this is enough to comply the rules at the moment.
Thanks, ARDR Team 2:53 am (UTC), 30 July 2009 --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Konstantin (talk).
- It's fine. It's because you are writing it for the wiki community, and the vast majority here are English speakers. (It is the English language wiki after all.) -- Wyn talk 05:51, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- Quick question, couldent the wiki community make a Spanish translated tag like that to go below the English one? That way those who are not proficient in english will still know what the tag says.--Neithan Diniem 14:50, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- Then we would need one in Russian, German, Dutch, French, Italian, and all the other languages that guild pages show up in. We opted to keep it in English. -- Wyn talk 14:58, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- if you were talking only about your guild page, you could just use country flags next to the text (ie. and ). That should be enough to give people a clue.--Fighterdoken 18:53, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

And I have one more question. I want to remove banner "This page is about a particular player guild". Is there any way to do it? 21:09, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Wyn
If its okay with you I'll from now on ask it to you if I can post it if something might be offensive or blablabla to linsey in anyway. My problem is the current skill level. Now my theory is that people are worse then several years ago because of gimmicks.Since they never have to make progress. The reason I currently think this more important then I used to is because I recently guested and we came out against a rank 550 guild.More terrible then I could ever imagine.May I contact linsey about this issue ? Table headers
I was thinking, is it possible to make the top row of a table (i.e., the header) float? If that's possible that might be helpful for our suggestion lists, since I would imagine they are going to become more than one screne in length, and it would be nice to have the header easily visible the whole way down. I don't know, maybe that is too complicated and not overly necessary, or not even possible, I have no idea... (Satanael 19:14, 31 July 2009 (UTC))
