Quick Favour
I have recently re-done my User-page, and as you'll see there is a kiss.gif image at the bottom instead of using alliance nav, If I try and center it for formatting, it doesn't center it and puts the tags anywhere it likes on the page...
I know I've probably messed up the code or something by centering this, but I still want my user-page to be centered.
If It's going to take a while to fix, don't bother!
Thanks. --Yo Jm 09:34, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- Name the image like this: [[File:Guild Passionate Kiss Of Nosferatu Banner2.gif|480px|center]]. That made it center on my preview. It makes the silver border around the banner also center with it, so you might want to put a width="100%" in its bracket. Also, the silver border that surrounds the whole friends/wiki/alliance boxes is slightly pushed to the right, might want add a padding variable and play with the px values till its correct. Hope that helps!--Neithan Diniem 16:34, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks!
Been using some of your stuff on my profiles. I noticed you'd updated to include Oppressor's Weapons for the HoM stuff, and just wanted to say thanks. I wasn't excited about trying to do it myself, since I'm kind of a noob. ^_^ Ruse (talk) 23:22, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Talisman Online
Is it a good game? Koda Kumi 10:06, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
- The graphics are good, but some of the mechanics are limited. There are only 2 weapon types and 4 assists (offhands) per class which makes your skillset limited. It is like WoW in that it's persistent world, with only caves (dungeons) being instanced. It also allows for pvp anywhere but in towns as well as in pk arenas. The difference is if you attack and kill players in the normal areas you earn penalty points that make you vulnerable. In the arenas there is no penalty. Level cap of 70, 1-40 pretty easy, 40-60 pretty grindy, 60-70 pretty easy. -- Wyn talk 19:13, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well crud, I just might have to check it out myself. It sounds and looks interesting. Hope its better than PWI or DDO was...--Neithan Diniem 02:27, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it took me about 6 months to get a character to level 70. Keep in mind that I was documenting for the wiki as I went, so my progress was much slower than someone who was just knocking it all out. I have gotten at least the quest pages all started, not many have walkthroughs, but you can find the quest progression at least. NPC pages are still very much lacking, most especially the mob pages. I'm always happy to have people who might possibly be interested in helping with the wiki come play. -- Wyn talk 09:06, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- You know, I may even do that. I have nothing better to do anyway and I hate most of the people here. Koda Kumi 15:40, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- There is another free MMO released for Open Beta last Wednesday called Vindictus online. I think if you're into baldur's gate esque dialog reading, the story is pretty good. It's a fast paced action MMO where skills aren't activated by pressing number buttons, but rather by key or button combos like fighting games, which means you can play the game with a xbox-type game pad. There is only 2 character classes released for playing, no PvP yet, and the servers are kinda laggy, but so far, I kinda like it. It's a nice break from GW's slow pace in combat except for bosses, most mobs die in less than 3-10 seconds depending on the group . I think you guys should check it out if you have some time. Have you guys tried FF14 online at all? Am I the only one that was wholly unimpressed except for their graphics? --Lania 17:31, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- I heard some stories about FF14. They werent really positive, the only sparkle were the graphics. I haven't played it by myself, but Im also not planning to do so. I heard the fights were nothing special, and had some strange techniques, like targeting. Further did I hear the words boring storyline a lot. -- Cyan 17:51, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- I think if I had to sum up FF14 with one word... it would have to be slow. Everything feels slow in FF14 from traveling, the interface, combat, the story. I only played the open beta, but it just felt like I was trying to crawl through sand most of the time (and I don't mean the graphics, I had 30+ fps most of the time) , after the initial awe of the graphics wore off. I was really excited too since I love most of the FF series, and maybe this would have tided me over until GW2 came out...but it's really just no fun... I really can't see how it can change w/o completely redesigning the game.--Lania 18:21, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, really no FF14 online for me. I will spend the time with filling my HoM and Aion =) -- Cyan 18:24, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

TO
I didn't want to post on our new wiki lest them Wikia stalkers see it, if they just come in and block us, I'm not surprised everyone wants to leave Wikia. I mean, its a wiki you built from scratch, you should be able to revert it to scratch. But anyways, I'm sure that MiracleCastle can revoke the use of their images/quest info from Wikia, which would essentially remove every single page on the old wiki. –alistic 05:52, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, they did come in and block us, but surprisingly they haven't reverted our changes to the main page at all. So I'm content. It remains functionally unusable, and considering Miracle Castle has given their support to our move by changing the link in their fansite section the minute I posted about the move on their forum (before I could even request the change), I don't think we have much to worry about. There will continue to be 1633 stub articles on Wikia, the traffic (what little there was) will dwindle to only people who stumble there from a search engine, and it will become just another small abandoned wiki on Wikia. I am surprised at Wikia's tactic of reading comments on the new wiki to use as a basis for the demotions and bans, but I find it rather hilarious that my comments are being attributed to you, and that in reality I was asking you to stop making the changes you were making. But meh. I can stop worrying about anything Wikia now, and only use the site to verify what images actually go where as I re-upload them to the new site. Speaking of which, do you want to reupload the ones you did? or do you not care about attribution, and give me permission to simply copy them from Wikia and upload them to the new site? -- Wyn talk 07:00, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Merging
My apologies. I had marked Hall of Monuments/Rewards and Guild Wars 2 Reward Point a few days ago with the {{merge}} template; my understanding was that this was only to suggest a merge and invite discussion (which happened), not to physically preserve edit histories. What was the proper way to have executed the merge? - Brian Kendig 22:44, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- Generally, merging requires more than 3 days of discussion an 3 total comments before it's done, and then the pages are merged by sysops so the resulting page retains all the edit history of the pages merged. But you know what? I'm not gonna worry about it. If someone else wants to deal with it, they can. -- Wyn talk 22:47, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Wiki policy
Just a quick question: I've noticed a lot of new users building spaces here, which is great, but then I noticed that most of the pages are clones of ones found on GuildWiki. I don't want to step on any toes, but how do the copy-right laws work in this case? The GFDL link below this edit box simply has me more confused. G R E E N E R 08:09, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- If the users from GWiki are recreating their pages here (pages they initially created on GWiki) that's fine because each editor holds copyright to anything they post, so they are free to recreate it anywhere. If they are using templates initially created on GWiki by someone else, the creators have to have their edits dual licensed. You can generally find a note on their userspace indicating they release their edits to GFDL as well as cc-by-na-sc. If they are using templates created by someone who hasn't released it under GFDL, then they can't use it here. -- Wyn talk 09:41, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks! I've just been trying to get some of the legalese under my belt, and finding it slightly more than I was ready for. G R E E N E R 17:15, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Rather than merely fixing it myself as per being discussed in the Community portal, I figured I'd just ask if you'd take care of that page, removing its categories. Danke. -- Konig/talk 04:38, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

- You are using a mixture of divs and tables, and something is not closed properly. You seem to have taken the profile box from this template and then misused the tabs from some other template template, and I'm not sure exactly where your body style came from, but they don't work together. I would suggest you try using much simpler templates to use as the one from me that you are using part of is actually quite complex and not really designed for a new user. You might want to think about looking at some of my other userpage templates instead, as they are more just copy/paste the usage code and fill in the blanks. At least until you get a bit more familiar with wikicode. -- Wyn talk 09:41, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Monument of Honor template
For some reason, your HoM Honor template isn't quite working for survivor, ldoa, and commander. I looked at the way it was set up and it seems the placement of '{' is incorrect on those 3. Was just suggesting and hoping you could change it.Fright01 × 19:07, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Hey Wyn, didn't we make some timezone table a while ago, with all timezones and times? Do you know where it is? I can't find it.. (I hope it wasn't some kind of hallucination.. xD) poke | talk 13:12, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Game updates and the watchlist
Hi Wynthyst, I have a question for you: do you know if it's possible to make game updates to appear at the watchlist, so I would know when a new update has been released? I have tried watching the "Game updates" article but that's useless, since new updates are just transcluded there. Do you happen to know some way to achieve this? Thanks and happy Christmas. Erasculio 15:49, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, one way to do it would be to subscribe to the RSS feed on the main GW website updates page.--Neithan Diniem 17:46, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry Eras, since each update is done on a new page, there really is no way that I know of other than the rss feed to know when there is a new update. -- Wyn talk 23:43, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh well. Thanks anyway, Wyn. Erasculio 00:04, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well the only other way would be to have a page for the latest update. Then as each new update comes, the content on the latest page would be placed on it's own update page. Redirect from the latest update's talk page would need to be set beforehand to go to the soon-to-be-used update page's talk, then have the latest update's redirect be changed to the next update's talk page each update. Could work, but is anyone going to want to do the maintenance work?--Neithan Diniem 08:33, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
- Not gonna reinvent the wheel so that Eras can have a page to watch :P -- Wyn talk 08:58, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
- If we were going for something "drastic", we could probably just add {{latest update}} to... Hm. MediaWiki:Watchlist-details would probably do it. Not sure it's necessary when it's already on RC and the main page and you can always add it to your own userpage, and some users might prefer not, but feel free to bring it up on the Community Portal.
- Some other ways to quickly see if there's a new update: Click the "Guild Wars news" link in the navigation bar on the side, subscribe to the Guild Wars Wiki twitter, the mentioned guildwars.com RSS feed, some sort of .css or .js trickery might be possible (you'd hafta ask Poke, if nothing else you can at least add a quicklink to the game updates page to more easily check it)...
- Presumably you could manually add each potential game update page for the next year (Feedback:Game updates/20101225, Feedback:Game updates/20101226, Feedback:Game updates/20101227, etc all the way up to Feedback:Game updates/20111231 (or further if you're really inclined)) through 'edit raw watchlist', though that seems like more work than it'd be worth. - Tanetris 18:15, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
- just have someone ping feedback:game updates when there's an update? I bet Silver Edge would be an awesome bell-ringer. — Raine Valen 15:18, 29 Dec 2010 (UTC)
