Hmmm...International Cultural References. That would be Cheese, Windmills, Tulips and Wooden shoes? How about Cultural Based Armor? Original & Traditional references mixed in armor sets?

Then again, we have a great history (with some cultural mistakes) with water, the VOC Trading Company, Enormous Sailships, and a special relationship to many main city's in the world. Rembrandt and Vincent van Gogh are our best know Painters. Artwork of great masters in Guild Halls and Halls of Rulers?

One of my ideas with the flying Dutchman is that this ship will raise with The undead dragon of Orr and the ship will assault the Coast of tyria and will block the way to Elona and Cantha. Dutch culture? We are such multiculture that we barely have one of our own. Let's see, there's cheese, windmills, tulips (which are originally from Turkey, may I add), wooden shoes, drugs, Heineken, prostitutes, gabber (/hakken), looting foreign countries (VOC etc.), vogeltjesdans, Sinterklaas, (dutch) Carnaval, herring, stamppot, 3 kisses when greeting in stead of 2 and... that's it for me :| As long as they don't introduce jumpstyle, all cultural references are fine with me. Staphorster clothing converted to armor would be nice tho :O (Currently searching for a link to such clothing, but can't find it, anyone else?). BlazeRick 14:03, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Flodder is for a specific audiance and not really an historical occurance. For instance, I know about it but would not suggest it for GW2. --Silverleaf

When I lived in the Netherlands (shortly) one thing that stuck out to me culturally was bike theft. Looking up the 'reported' numbers, there are more bikes stolen in Holland every year than there are bikes in Holland. I personally witnessed at least a half-dozen bike thefts there in about 1-2 months. And it's just sort of accepted. No one even really seems to care. You bike gets stolen? What about Judge Dee? Each time I'm in Cantha, I can't help thinking of him. Well, maybe it's because I haven't read much else in "Chinese fiction", so I can think only of that, but Van Gulik's novels are so funny. Well, I must say, I would absolutely love to be able to /dance the Vogeltjesdans with my 60-armor Wooden Shoes on my very own Flying Dutchman-mount. :D
Okay, I'll stop the sarcasm now. The Flying Dutchman could make an awesome addition to the Orrian Dragon's Dead Pirate Fleet. What hasn't been mentioned yet is the dutch consensus-politics (much like the wiki, actually), the so called "polder model".
