Game mechanics[edit]
Deep wound is a condition that lowers the affected character's maximum health by 20%, and reduces healing effectiveness by the same amount. Unlike other conditions, deep wound has no visual indication on the affected character; however, the right 20% of the affected character's health bar turns gray to indicate the deep wound.
- Deep wound healing reduction does not affect life stealing, health gain, and health regeneration skills (i.e. Troll Unguent and Healing Breeze) or natural regeneration.
- Deep wound will never reduce your maximum health by more than 100 health, even if your maximum health was more than 500. The health lost is also removed from your current health which is why a deep wound can be seen as damage of 20% of maximum health until it is removed.
- Upgrades
- Cruel upgrade components for weapons increase deep wound duration by 33%.
- A Rune of Recovery or the inscription "Strength of Body" can be used to reduce deep wound duration by 20%.

Notes[edit]
- Deep wound can never kill you by itself; the "health loss" will not take effect until it is triggered through gaining or losing health (excluding health regeneration). If deep wound would bring you below 0 health, you will not die unless it is triggered; if triggered by health gain, then you will only die if that health gain does not bring your health above zero.
- Characters who are at full health with a deep wound are still considered to be at full health, so skills such as Edge of Extinction will not trigger.
- If deep wound is removed before the affected creature is healed or takes any damage, it won't have done anything as it doesn't do any permanent damage in itself. The longer a deep wound is in effect, the more trouble it will cause by reducing healing and making a creature more vulnerable.
- Deep wound is a very useful condition and is often used in PvP. For spike teams, it provides extra damage on the spike; for pressure teams, it adds healing reduction to the accumulating pressure applied upon the opposing party.
- Healing reduction from multiple sources stacks up to -40%.
