An Echo chain is the skill combination of the two Mesmer skills Echo and Arcane Echo to cast one skill three times consecutively. This method is mostly used for skills of which the recast time is very high but which need to be cast repeatedly in a short time.

An Echo chain is often used in combination with Meteor Shower for Echo Nuker builds which need to deal a lot of damage in a short time or for Lightbringer point farming in the Realm of Torment. Many Ranger farm builds use this skill combination for Dust Trap because of the high damage. Also, it can be used in combination with duplicate skills to allow for four skills of the same effect.

There are two methods of doing an Echo chain:

Method 1: for spells[edit]

  1. Arcane Echo
  2. Spell
  3. Echo
  4. Spell (Arcane Echo)
  5. Spell (Echo)

The activation time for this chain method is 3 seconds + 5x 0.75 seconds aftercast + 3x the spell's cast time and you need 20 Energy + 3x the spell's energy cost.

Method 2: for skills[edit]

  1. Arcane Echo
  2. Echo
  3. Skill
  4. Echo (Arcane Echo)
  5. Skill (Echo)
  6. Skill ((Arcane Echo) Echo)

The activation time for this chain method is 4 seconds + 6x 0.75 seconds aftercast + 3x the skill's cast time and you need 25 Energy + 3x the skill's energy cost.

Notes[edit]

An alternative for spells (but not skills) exists: The elementalist elite skill Glyph of Renewal. In case of a spell with a long recharge time the player can choose to either cast the spell every 10 seconds, or to chain it 2 times (and then having to wait for the spell to recharge).
