This is to suggest that an encyclopedic database similar to gw wiki be accessible as an in-game feature. The main reason for this, of course is that the gw wiki database has proven extremely useful in my experience and I've seen many other players use it while in game as well. It has become so widely used that an in-game emote has even been added in for minimizing the GW screen and accessing GWW (see here). There is, however, some inconvenience in having to either go back and forth between wiki and gw or play the game in window format while trying to manage your internet window at the same time.
Some will no doubt think of the immediate objection that providing an in-game guide would effectively destroy the challenge of the game. However, the fact is that the guide already exists in an easily accessible online format and all this does is allow you to access it without minimizing your game screen. There is no other difference. If this feature is not included, people will simply minimize their screens and look up what they need to know the way they do now.
The second, and more practical problem with this feature is when and how to update it. The most logical solution would be to update it every day at 00:00 UTC. More than that, however, it will be imperative that people need not restart the game in order to access the updated material. I don't know if this would be a problem or not, but I assume that measures could be taken to implement it at this stage. The information I think should be taken directly from a user-updated site such as gw2 wiki. Not only will this allow for a more detailed encyclopedia, but it would also be limited to providing only what information other gamers could retrieve. It would also by nature include information gamers are most interested in such as walkthroughs, drop info, and guides. Lastly, It's been my experience that player created guides tend to be more informative and less error ridden than official guides made by companies, and as we have seen, player updated guides such as gw wiki are ideal for online games where content is constantly changing.
