GW2 API[edit]

How about publishing an API for certain types of data so that loyal fans can build Android, Windows, iOS, and logitech-device applets? Here's some of the data I'd like to have access to:

  • Market data: historical trade prices for items and gems. ANet has it; I'd like to be able to publish it and comment on it (like a Barclays or Chase investment analyst does).
  • Roster data: Allow guilds to download data about their members and publish it on websites from e.g. GuildPortal.com or Enjin.com. (Obviously, players should be allowed to opt out.) Details might include toon names, levels, prof, discipline ranks, ...
  • My character data: Allow players to grab, after authentication, details about their own toons for later use, e.g. kit, dyes unlocked, current build, exploration progress, other achievements/progress, ...
  • Chat: chat without playing the game.
  • Trade: see your current/past trades (for planning).
  • Gem store: buy gems without logging into the game.
