Guild Wars User Agreement

4. ACCOUNT

a) Eligibility. Accounts are available only to adult individuals 18 years of age or older. If you are less than 18 years of age and wish to use the Service, your parent(s) or guardian(s) must complete the registration process, open an Account in their name(s) and accept full responsibility for all obligations under this Agreement. Those who have completed these steps and who maintain their Account in good standing are sometimes referred to in this Agreement as "Members."

By accepting the terms of use in the Agreement, Members represent that you are an adult 18 years of age or older. Only one person may use an Account. The registered user of an Account may use the Account or may choose instead to permit a minor child of the registered user to use the Account. You are liable for all activities conducted through your Account, and parents or guardians are liable for all activities of their minor child conducted through the Account.

Why would they reward people for breaking the EULA? And this wouldn't increase sales, because the players aren't buying GW1 and GW2, just GW2 and leeching off another person's GW1 account. --Mora 06:27, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Also, don't be surprised if you find you're suddenly banned from using that account any longer since you placed your blatant violation of the user agreement in Support's face. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 06:46, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Sometimes actually reading the agreement is an idea before making suggestions. because I don't want someone who didn't work at my titles to benifit from my hard work Ocren
Agreed, Orcen. In the real world, we call that kind of thing "Socialism". And it fails.--Will Greyhawk 14:13, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Socialism does not fail. Socialists do.
On topic: Those HoM prizes are supposed to reward one's devotion (though you could call it addiction) to GW, and sucker more people into buying Grind Wars 2. This suggestion works against that, so it is highly unlikely to make it to the game. Koda User Koda Kumi UT.jpeg Kumi 14:28, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Heres an example that is simple and too the point. Your in a relationship with a person, and you pay for everything. Now you enjoy doing that because thats who you are. while you are paying and supporting for them they are mooching off another person and there hard work. now why the hell would you work 12 hour days or how ever long to get your work used because they are too lazy to get a job?

essintually, you are talking about doing all the work, getting all the mini's weapons, titles, and such, and letting a person who hasn't owned the game for 5 years to reap your hard work? where is the logic in that? Ocren 22:35, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

This is what GM Ara said when I e-mailed about the problem. this is a direct quote from her response:

"Greetings,

Thank you for your interest in Guild Wars 2. Right now, we do not have any information or details to share about whether or not players will be able to split their Hall of Monument Rewards to two separate Guild Wars 2 accounts. However, I think you have a great suggestion. You are one among many that has and will inquire about this at the launch of Guild Wars 2 approaches. Therefore, I highly encourage you to consider posting your suggestions on the Guild Wars Wiki at: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Feedback:Main. "

So, I did what she recommended. Obviously, the Support team is less interested in the EULA that you guys are. Shiny89 09:30, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

then I will be blunt... why the hell am I putting stuff in my hall if I can mooch off my guild mates :S Ocren 00:52, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
The EULA for GW1 is not the same as for GW2, also I know of many people that have spouses that share their GW accounts. As long as they are within the same household, I honestly dont know what could be a drawback for that... Its not like their getting a benefit from it that others arnt... Anyways, the point is that GW2 isnt GW1, thus the rules wont be the same.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 04:05, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
You're putting stuff in your Hall because it's something that you have dedicated yourself to. You've been playing Guild Wars for years, right? Of course you ought to have something to show for it. Guild Wars 2 is a new game, though. People other than Guild Wars 1 players are going to buy it. If you know someone that didn't play GW1, but you wanted to get them to play GW2 with you, why not offer them an incentive? You can't TAKE HoM rewards from someone. You do not LOSE them. The only way for someone to receive the benefit of YOUR playtime is THROUGH YOU. I'm not saying you have to offer anyone the benefit of your years in Guild Wars. You certainly wouldn't be able to "mooch off" your guild mates if they didn't allow it. This is simply a proposal for people who might want to play their new game with FRIENDS. If someone wants to share a copy of their HoM rewards, I say let them. However, it would be OPTIONAL. Shiny89 17:15, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps a system to let you share your hall with up to X number of friends, and have it where you have to remain friends for the rewards to be valid. If a person shares their stuff, then their friendship goes sour and is ended, the other person would lose those rewards. It would prevent people getting your X slots filled up then forgetting you just cause they wanted the loot. You also wouldn't be stuck with your X slots gone forever if your lose that friendship. Having a validation bit added to the items that checks for the friend in the friend's list (it would need to be mutual) would cover that bit. If you ever have shared your purchases on PS3 youll know how it works.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 17:32, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
okay, Now I get what your talking about. sorry it wasn't clear at first. But I understand how this works more since you explained it better. and Neithan, I completely forgot that they could be changing that in GW2. Oh well, It is a good Idea, but like you both said, needs some hammering out on the smaller details. For example, how many friends you can share with, and the amount of stuff they get. and just as the random thought that popped up, if gw2 isn't like gw1 where you get your own instance, how do they work the HoM for all the players? Ocren 15:31, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
HoM will probably be an instance like the storyline stuff is Id imagine, then they would use the current party leader system. If it isnt an instance then it might still be a party leader system, where your party will see the leader's statues. If your not in a group, you would see your own. That's my thoughts on it.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 14:06, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
I would imagine the HoM would be instanced, so that different people would see different stuff. I don't think that people who are receiving shared rewards would be able to see the accomplishment displays of the account that actually earned them- they may be sharing the rewards, but you can't share victories. That way, the parent account will still have the bragging rights of having done the deeds in Guild Wars 1. That sounds about right. Shiny89 23:51, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
If this happens, the HoM items will have no prestige value in the slightest. You can just make friends with a 50/50 and get the same rewards as him. -MaskeusUser Maskeus sig.jpeg 20:46, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
I doubt that they'd make everything be shareable, definitely not the titles. THATS the prestige. Most other things, such as the armor and weapons are easy to get and are quite frankly of little value "prestige" wise.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 00:28, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Definitely not the titles. I was talking about the items only. Shiny89 10:26, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Well, the Hall of Monuments FAQ was updated:

Q: Will we have the ability to link multiple Guild Wars accounts to a single Guild Wars 2 account?

A: No, only one Guild Wars account can be linked to a Guild Wars 2 account. Furthermore, a single Guild Wars account can only be linked once to a single Guild Wars 2 account.

So much for that. added sig- still new to this mess. Shiny89 08:17, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Sign your comments. Also, now that this suggestion exists, there allows a place for people showing interest in the topic can show their support. Who knows, maybe a system will be put in place in the future.--Neithan DiniemUser Talk:Neithan Diniem 17:24, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I'd suggest that HoM achievers could have the ability to bestow a few reskinned versions of their achievement items to a restricted number of friends. This allows the high achievers to keep their unique and prestigious stuff, while sharing a 'lesser' version of it with their friends. Redthorn 09:29, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
