I feel I can do some good on this Wiki on a professional level of intelligence and maturity. I feel I could show people how to act unbiased and base all my decision off of facts and be as fair as possible (granted, I would become a Wyn-type of figure-- EVERYTHING she does is completely professional). Given my past record, I understand how this could all seem a little... Well... Laughable. When given a posistion of power, I do certainly try my best to uphold it to the best of my abilities and let any flaws I may show otherwise go into a deep reside into the depths of total seclusion. So, thank you for the nomination. In short, I gladly accept. :) -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 23:44, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
LOL... YOU CAN DO IT. :O --TalkW a f f l e z 23:54, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Yep, I can try, jeanette. :) -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 00:29, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
"I feel I can do some good on this Wiki on a professional level of intelligence and maturity." You haven't demonstrated that in the past, so define professional. Dominator Matrix 00:34, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Cough cough cough.... Excuse me while I wipe the blood off....Pika Fan 00:43, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Instead of reading just one section of my paragraph, read the entire thing. How I act when it comes to something that requires a professional level and from what does not are 2 completely different issues. I didn't get where I am in RL by being an immature prick. There is a professional side to me, as I would hope that a 22 year old would have when it comes down to real business. -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 00:51, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Actually, as seeing how I am his gf, I can vouche for him first hand 100% that he is very professional when it comes down to business. --TalkW a f f l e z 00:56, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Actually, that makes you 100% biased and unable to vouch for him. 99.151.139.100 00:57, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
lol... Not really. She sees how I am in RL and as such that is not a "biased" accusation, that is a REAL and correct assumption. You don't exactly get put in charge of Corperate restaurant without showing you can be "the man". -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 01:00, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
No one cares how you act in real life. Your actions on the wiki have ranged from subaverage to abominable. That's all that matters here. 99.151.139.100 01:02, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
It matters not what you think. Your judgement means nothing to me. G'day, iP. -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 01:04, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Edit: It's always the iPs that try and troll. I've learned to brush off their bad attempts to deform me-- it's all you can really do. :) Nonetheless, it's astounding they go so far out of their lengths just to come onto an official bureaucrat nomination page to troll you. -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 01:07, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
And that's why you won't be bureaucrat. 99.151.139.100 01:07, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
However by putting yoursef in the running you have put yourself up for judgement. I also have to echo the Ip's sentiments. since joining the wiki, you have been, shall we say, a less than positive force at times. I wish you luck in the election, but I for one will need to be swayed in my vote, as thus far your behaviour on the wiki is not conducive to being a good BC. EDIT: also your response to the IP is an example of the dismissive, generalising behaviour i'm referring to. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 01:10, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
My behavior? I avoided to let a random troll get what he wants by not countering with a rude and NPA-filled remark. How is that me being "the behavior I am reffering to" ? But, hey.... I Got ya', I'll keep that in mind for future refferences. Feeding troll is good, avoiding the troll is bad. 10-4! -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 01:13, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Your not feeding the troll by asking it to stop, or is that weak like. Lena your IRL/age is useless against your behavior that has been seen on this wiki. We don't know that you are a level headed person, until your contribs reflect that. Dominator Matrix 01:20, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
And my last week or so has not been been constructive? Don't be so quick to judge me just because I have a strong case against Arena.Net and how they unjustly banned me. That should not be grounds to auto-say "omg Lena is a horrible monster he keeps throwing us facts that Arena.Net was out to get him". That is not the case. Sure, I could have handled it all differently, I admit. But, do not let a simple, 1-time phase of "lashing out" against a biased company taint your decision. I've already started to outgrow my biased ban, and, I've already considered marking my pages (the pages where I post facts about Arena.Net) for deletion as further proof that I am ready to let it go and move on and start contributing more to this wiki. I even enlisted myself in the helpers program... I just want a chance, that's all I am saying. Thanks for reading my wall of text. :) -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 01:29, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

(Reset indent) (Edit conflict) Never said that you don't get a second chance, just your past does reflect this role. But TBH its the same reason why I can't really bureaucrat, but I am also trying. Dominator Matrix 01:32, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

(Edit conflict) Last week VS Since you joined. Your case doesn't look so good. The Lena we know is a troll. The Lena you have "shown" in the last week is still outclassed by your troll self. Perhaps this month isn't your election, we can't judge you positively on a week of being good versus months of trolling. --TalkRiddle 01:37, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Heh, and I definately wish you the best of luck. :) I've honestly been trying a need approach on this wiki. I enjoy this wiki very much and I love contributing/helping on it whenever I can. We'll see where this goes, I guess. ;P -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 01:39, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
"It matters not what you think. Your judgement means nothing to me. G'day, iP." That showed real professionalism /sarcasmoff. The wiki is a place where the community comes together to create it. Everyone has a voice, and you shooting down people's judgement really is a conflict of interest. Your ego of "your judgement means nothing to me" is only going to bring you down (if not your past). Also real life 'testimonials' aren't exactly anything to go by, so if you want any chance of getting elected watch what you say and try to change like you claim to be trying to... Mystical Celestia 01:41, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I've been on this wiki for over 2 years. I only recently started shit talking Arena.Net's name since I first recieved my ban (which was a little less than 2 months now). So, your accusation honeslty, imo, still doesn't automatically mean I am nothing but "a troll". As I said, I want to try this new turn and see where this direction takes me. -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 01:45, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Mystical, I understand that. I think everyone is missing the point and misreading when I say "your judgement means nothing to me". When I say that, I literally meant "what you think of me as a person does not affect me nor does it bring me down". Hopefully that clears it up a little? -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 01:47, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
"But, do not let a simple, 1-time phase of 'lashing out' against a biased company taint your decision", so how about "lashing out" against the admins here, or against users who try to keep the wiki organized, or against former bureaucrats, or against common users? Erasculio 03:08, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
You totally hurt my feelings, you know. 99.151.139.100 04:01, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Hmm? How so? -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 04:34, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Erasculio has brought up some interesting comments of yours, Lena. I know that your girlfriend is ready to vouch for your character, and that's noble and kind and good of her (I'd do the same for my boyfriend), but that still won't change others' opinion of you, opinions they've gathered by your past actions. Even if you're an absolutely oustanding guy IRL, who volunteers at animal shelters and works in soup kitchens and donates a third of your paycheck each month to charity, it won't change others' opinions of you. If, for example, I'm rude, condescending, obnoxious and vulgar online, deciding to replace all the content of webpages with the word "Pickles" over and over and over again, where everyone can read it and see it, when people see my name online, they're going to associate those actions with me. With my name. The impression they have of me is already set. It doesn't matter that my bf/Mom/Dad/Rabbi/English Teacher can vouch for my character, I've shown an entirely different side already. It's hard to be taken seriously after that. Elysea User Elysea ElyseaSignatureImage.jpg 06:22, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

2 years, Lena? So have I, but you won't see one bcrat/sysop nomination from me. Not all of us are cut out for it and membership time means nothing.-- User Vanguard VanguardLogo.pnganguard 18:47, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Serious questions[edit]

  • What do you see the role of the Bureaucrat on GWW as?
  • How do you think you have demonstrated to the community that you would be able to fulfill the position?

--Wyn's Talk page Wyn 02:40, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I see it as a role that keeps the infrastructure of this wiki stable. Someone whom correctly enforces procedure, someone whom knows the ins-and-outs on how things work. Someone who can be called upon for help and be able to supply an efficient answer in their field of expertise. I see the posistion of Bureaucrat as one that is just as important as a Sysop. That is what the posistion of Bureaucrat means to me.
  • Honestly, I know I have not demonstrated enough integrity on this wiki as of late. So, I cannot answer this second question. This is something I am currently trying to change that...

-Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 02:55, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

What duties do they perform that "keeps the infrastructure of this wiki stable"? --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 04:03, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

This:

Bureaucrats have sysop status as well as these additional powers and responsibilities:

  • Altering the assigned groups and administrator status of user accounts based on community decisions, policy, or arbitration. This includes appointing or revoking sysops based on requests for adminship and managing bot status. A clear reason has to be provided in the log when altering the user rights.
  • The group of bureaucrats, as long as there are at least 2, forms an arbitration committee, which is conducted according to arbitration policy. The committee membership for each arbitration case is determined by the list of bureaucrats at the time of the request for arbitration (so gaining/losing bureaucrat status in the middle of a case does not result in joining/leaving the active committee for that case).
  • They are expected to respond to any questions about their actions from anyone, including via e-mail. Each bureaucrat is required to give a publicly reachable e-mail address (shown on the list of bureaucrats).
  • Bureaucrats may only use sysop powers to deal with an ongoing situation and if no normal sysop is available. Additionally, they may delete pages at any time in accordance with the deletion policy. Bureaucrats are only allowed to block in emergencies, specifically for edits that impair the ability of users to access wiki content, such as vandalism.

Note that these bureaucrat-only functions are not subject to the same conditions as sysop actions.

I really wasn't looking for a copy/paste of the admin policy, since I KNOW what it says.. I wanted Lena to explain in his own words what a Bureaucrat does that keeps the infrastructure stable. But I guess the fact he had to copy/paste the policy tells me what I needed to know. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 04:12, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Actually, that is exactly what my reply would be, hence it was my reply. When in a posistion of 'power', I try to actually "stay by the book". Doing so prevents a LOT of hate-talk and accusations of being biased, Wyn. :) -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 04:13, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
However, any admin role here is granted use of reasonable discretion which always has the potential to be seen as biased by the party that loses the dispute. The role of Bureaucrat has even more responsibility in this than sysops since ArbCom rulings are the final word in any given case. At least with a bureaucrat there are 2 others to balance out the decision. There is no book regarding most of the types of issues that we encounter outside of basic maintenance duties like page deletion. So getting a personalized answer would potentially help me to judge a persons understanding and judgment more than just copy/pasting the policy. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 04:47, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm sure lena is well versed in reasonable discretion and bias --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 04:51, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Bias, certainly, but discretion I'm not so sure about. Comic Sans 06:28, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Personally...[edit]

I hope you win, Lena. You're an amazing person, it seems. I, for one, am all for second chances and fullheartedly believe you deserve one! I've the last 1 - 2 weeks worth of posting and you've definately turned around from the A.NET-resenting person you once were. I don't know what changed you, but, you definately have my support and I hope people will be so kind as to accept you as I now have. --66.190.88.90 10:38, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Wow.... omg... You made my jaw drop by this. Thank you... Thank you so very, very much for these kind words! You have no idea how what you said made me feel. :< If only everyone else would allow me the chance as you have to show my "good side"... Then that'd be amazing. -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 10:41, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Too bad they can't vote huh? Lena, don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy to allow you the chance to show your good side. I simply don't believe that while there is still an active discussion about bringing you before the Arb Com, it is the time for you to be running for Bureaucrat. If you want to be taken seriously as a changed person, remove all the crap from your userspace, apologize to Gaile for your harassment, post a big flashing apology on your userpage to everyone you have been an asshat to and start being a positively contributing editor. Maybe after a year of positive contributions, you could try again and actually have a chance to win. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 10:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
And leave it to Wyn to try and shoot me down after recieving a very big compliment. Sigh... WHat makes you think I havn't appologized to Gaile? She does have a personal email in which we can use to contact her, afterall. ;) -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 10:56, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Edit: There has not been a single edit I've made on this wiki that was not beneficial (excluding talk pages). Check all of my edits-- I am a very, very good contributor. -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 10:58, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
And if you have Lena, good for you, however, emailing her your apology is not going to go very far to change your image on the wiki. Since your harassment was put on public display, so should your apology. And that's only one of many apologies you should tender, you have been unpleasant more often in your interactions with members of this community that aren't part of your inner circle than not. I personally would not trust you with sysop tools for a minute, let alone 6 months. I'm not commenting on your mainspace contributions, I haven't even looked at them. It is your interaction with the community that has my concern. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 11:03, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
While I agree you do make some valuable contributions, that actually has nothing to do with the bureaucrat role. Misery 11:04, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
indeed, if you have consistently acted like an asshat however does. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 13:33, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Second chance[edit]

I understand forgiving people is a very cool and noble practice according to various big religions and the public opinion, so I'm quite ready to give you a second chance.

Now please explain to me how and when "to give a second chance" got the additional meaning "to make bureaucrat". Because I think I missed something, if that is the case. Your response to the IP alone will earn you a -1 from me. I suggest you go and take that second chance elsewhere. Sorry for being blunt. WhyUser talk:Why Are We Fighting 23:01, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

What? I don't expect to make bureaucrat in this election. But that does not mean I can not be as professional about it as possible.I am taking every bit of this oppurtunity from the elections to show I am not going to take it as some joke that I can use to my advantage and do wide-spread flamming and what not. If you want to retract yourself by your second sentence then that is your opinion and I will respect that. But, please, stop accusing me of being a liar just because I know how to make a troll go away (in which I did NOT do anything "harsh" to make it that way). -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 23:19, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I didn't go away. Don't worry Lena, I'm never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. 99.151.139.100 23:29, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Never gonna run around and desert you? -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 23:35, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Okay, perhaps I was too blunt. I did not call you a liar. I just don't see how running for bureacrat is supposed to change anything, if you don't think you have any chance of winning. In that case, this entire nomination is just a bunch of talk about pretty much nothing at all. If you want to show you can be proffessional about this nomination, what is the point of being professional about, well, talk about pretty much nothing at all? Anyway, I'm glad we can have a serious discussion about all this, maybe it does amount to something. Good luck. :) WhyUser talk:Why Are We Fighting 23:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Questions[edit]

I would just like to ask these questions, if you don't mind.

  • Why do you want to be a Bureaucrat and what qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a good Bureaucrat?
  • What is your opinion on strictly literal interpretations of policy vs. "spirit of the policy" interpretations?
  • How might your decisions in previous ArbComm decisions have differed from those given by the Bureaucrats?
  • How would you define the Bureaucrat's role on GWW?
  • What is your stance on trolling/disruption/incivility/harmfulness? How is that stance justified given the current status of those issues within our system and culture?
  • What do you think the proper role of ArbComm is?
  • How might you use the Bureaucrat position differently than other Bureaucrats have?
  • In what way(s) would your decisions in arbitration be affected by the weight of a user's general history of valued contributions (or lack of such)? Would user valuable-ness reliably translate into some extra degree of leniency from you? -- §Lacky§ My Contributions Talk 07:12, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
I've already answered several bureauocracy questions. Seeing as this is ONLY the nomination phase, I will decline answering them until the "discussion" and will not answer anymore questions like these until then. Thank you for your understanding. -Lena™ User Lena Sig.png talk 07:36, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Per Election policy, discussion should already happen during the nomination phase; therefore the discussion phase was set so short. poke | talk 07:41, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
As Poke says, having a phase dedicated to discussion is in no way intended to limit discussion to that phase. Discussion should be taking place during the nomination phase and should continue all the way through the voting phase. - Tanetris 11:43, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
