There are no material traders in pre-Searing, so the only way to get crafting material like iron is by salvaging. Metallic weapons are... weapons that have metal in them... :P swords, axes, hammers, shields, metal armor and such will give u iron. I sure hope so, as the music I've heard so far is just mind blowing. There's nothing better than relaxing to a little of Jeremy Soule's music which I daresay rivals that of big-budget movie soundtracks. Between the GW, FF7 AC, and LOTR soundtracks, I'm set when it comes to mostly non-lyrical music. But yes, there was a mention of that earlier today. How do you use a skill set?

You generally need to be in a group, but you don't need to be in a group with other people. There's also henchmen, and, if you have Nightfall or (once it's released) Eye of the North you can also use heroes. You can attack by targeting a monster and hitting the spacebar (unless you've configured the controls to use some other key to attack). If your bow isn't equipped, you can equip it in the inventory panel, which is accessed from the menu, or with the appropriate key. -- Gordon Ecker 03:07, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

you don't need to be attacking regularly to use your skills, just hit the appropriate key (1-8 is default) or click the skill icon and your character will move in range and use the skill. you can stop that action by pressing esc (default). you can also just double-click an enemy to start attacking it. - Just_m3 11:50, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Because ANet cannot suppress human nature and its desire to express itself, regardless of how rudely, innapropriately, or rashly. It can offer rewards for following rules set forth or punish those who break them, but it cannot completely control the thought process of the human mind nor circumvent the creativity used in getting around filters. If the chat is particularly offensive you can always send a complaint with the time, district, offensive comments, player names and a screenshot into support (get there from the official website and go under the support section for the link - when you're at the support website the place to file a report is under "Ask a question"). You won't find out if the person gets blocked for their behaviour because that information is kept confidential, but if the comments are racist/sexist/vile/obscene then chances are they will take some sort of action about it. And if not, it's always worth the try, especially if people are ruining your gaming experience by being lewd. :) - BeX 13:18, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Insignias

Hey Everyone,

Does anyone know if insignia bonuses stack from armor piece to armor piece? For instance, if I have a Dervish with 5 Windwalker Insignia (+5 armor for each active enchantment placed on the character, to a maximum of 20 at four enchantments). If I apply one to each piece of armor he has, does he get +25 armor for each enchantment he has on him, or do the effects not stack, keeping the total at only +5 armor per enchantment even though he's got the insignia on 5 separate armor pieces? Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

when you take damage, there is a certain percent chance that the damage hits your head, torso, hands, legs or feet. depending on where it hits, the armor bonuses from that armor piece will take effect. theres a 15% chance of hit for head, hands and feet, 20% chance of hit on legs and 35% chance of hit on your torso (i admit, i'm not sure about those percents, maybe it's 25%legs and 30% torso). that's why energy and health bonuses are bigger on torso pieces. assuming you get hit on your torso, that piece has a windwalker insignia, max armor and you have 4 enchantments up, this means you have a total of 70 (base) + 20 (insignia) = 90 armor which the damage has to pass. see also Armor - Just_m3 11:54, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Are all, the expantions stand alone?

Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall are standalone games which you can play without having anything else of the game. They can be combined to one account to have access to the new content. ANet Problems

My info: I've been running GW on this same computer for years now. I have versions up to Nightfall. I have a DSL connection. Suddenly, I cant connect to ArenaNet. I get no error messages except for the "cannot connect, server may be congested" message after a few minutes. We DID recently acquire a new firewall and regisrty fix programs. I have put the GW program in the firewall's trusted zone and then gone as far as closing the firewall altogether.... still the same result.. the "Connecting To Arenanet" window opens, but never gets beyond "0%" connection. I understand that there may be router problem, but I know nothing about router settings, and havent knowingly changed anything to do with the router. I have tried the "repair installation" tab from the Nightfal disc, but again, cant connect to Arenanet. I have reinstalled DirectX 9.0c from the disc. I am now at the end of my own technical reasoning limits and am in need of advice. Maybe the registry fix program deleted something important? I dunno... router settings? No adjustments in explorer settings... looks like everythings the same as usual... where would I adjust gw settings? I guess the next step would be to uninstall and reinstall, but I'll have to wait until my son wakes up and be sure he doesnt have expansion pack stuff on here before I yank it all out. All of this started after running a registry fix program...I'm a little suspicious about what it has "fixed". Not sure I trust some of these types of "repair" programs, but it fixed the problem I was having with the CPU bluescreening every 20 mins. Any knowledge of the router possibility? black screen

i've played before just on a different computer i've downloaded the setup stuff on to this one and it's just giving me a black screen i can hear music but, nothing else i've tried reinstalling it, changing my screen setting still nothing can anyone help?

Checklist of things I can think of:

• Check your new machine meets the minimum requirements.
• Graphics drivers - are they updated? If not sure, get them up to the latest version
• Does your graphic card support DX9? If not, that's the problem.

Hi guys,

I've been playing now for about 3 yrs. and have accumulate a bunch of items that I'd love to what I should do with. IE: skelton bones, Alpine Seeds, and all that stuff. none of which are quest items. My question is does Wiki have a page that lists all these materials and which ones should be stalk piled? If so can someone plz send me a link to that page. I have over eighty different things in storage I'd love to get rid of but I fear that as soon as I sell them I'll be looking for the darn things five minutes later. Thanks a bunch.

generally you can just type in the item's name into the search panel to the left and you will get to the item's page with information what you can trade it for, what i salvages into etc.etc. sometimes the page can't be found. here are some possible reasons for this:

• you misspelled something
• article names are usually exactly the same as the item's name, including capital letters. try to get as close to the article as you can
• the article doesn't exist, i don't think we're still missing articles, though

Wow... that's a huge waste of storage. To find out if you actually need those stuff, as Y0_ich_halt said, simply visit the page of each of those items. We call these items "Collectibles" the stuff you collect to give to collectors in exchange for stuff. Just see if you need the things that the collector offers. If not, sell them. Most of these collectibles can be sold because a lot of collectors offer only weapons. But those weapons are good equipment for your heroes though. -- ab.er.rant 02:55, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Unable to Complete a Mission

I was loading the mission for Minister Cho's Estate when GuildWars crashed. After I logged back in I found myself in the outpost of the estate without the quest in my mission log and upon returning to the quest-giver, I found myself unable to get it once more. I tried your advise to the last person but theres nothing under the party menu the last person I talked to was the guard in the estate and I watched the little movie so know what do I do?? Thank you for any help you can give!! also I just thought of something I played the game on a friends computer(he showed me the game) and there was 4 slots for weapon slots now I bought the game and mine onle has one is there something I can do fix that?? When you're in the outpost you have to press "Start mission" on your party window. And to show all weapon slots there is a button under your character image in your inventory. Click that button and you can select how many are shown. - BeX 12:19, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Code 058

While leaving and entering from Issnur Isles to Mehtani Isles in a Quest I ran into a code 058 error. Restarting the game did'nt help. What to do.

I'm getting a code 58 error as I log into Guild Wars as well. Says that it is unable to connect to the Login Server and is "very likely a problem with the router" or something. Going to try turning off computer, cable, and router first thing. --Talonz // 21:07, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Graphic error ?!?

I have a problem with my graphics it seems the textures are in squares and don't blend together? When I mess with the anti-aliasing no matter what setting "none", "x2" or "x4" it corrects itself but when i entire another instanced area it reverts to the squared textures. hmm, when i played yesterday, suddenly gray triangles started to pop up. then everything fizzled and finally i had a black screen. that's the scenario when your vidcard lost its cooler. have you checked you vidcard? maybe there's something wrong in your pc. - Y0_ich_halt 11:59, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

If you mean that your antialiasing is resetting itself, check your graphic card options perhaps. You might have something there in a profile that overrides the in game settings. - BeX 12:06, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

I think you just have to complete Tihark orchard and then continue on with the missions after that. you will eventually be taken to Gate of Desolation and be allowed to do the mission :) --Alien 15:13, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Suspended for ignorance?

Ok my account was suspended for 71 hours on 8/7/07 at around 12:00 P.M. Central Time, saying I was excessively "spamming" in in-game chat. All I did was say, "Selling heavy gavel of warding!!" and this guy just said, "Nikki Tikki, I reported you." I didnt get a good look at the name, otherwise I would have reported him for misuse of support.guildwars.com's "Report a Player" section. If there was some new rule that was added to GW, then I had no knowledge of it. I was inactive for a week-and-a-half and I just started playing it yesterday, and to not be able to play it after creating a new guild, meeting new friends, and making money, it really angers me to see such an inferior mistake resulting in having you suspended for 71 hours. I tried looking at the site for something involving in-game chat, but all it said was stuff about "Any sexual harrassment, asking for personal information, selling accounts, game codes, and other Guild Wars producs, are punishable by having your account banned or suspended for a time." And I tried checking in the log-in section of GW, to find in the news portion anything about any new rules. It just mentioned GW2 video game creators needed.

      If someone could help me reach the Guild Wars staff and help me try to get un-suspended, I would be ever-thankful.

If you were suspended, the logs of your chat would have been reviewed to see if you were spamming, so it wasn't abuse of the reporting system. There was recently an announcement on the log in window about chat channel changes, and I'm sure it's on the official website too. That being said, if you tell support you were not aware of the changes they may be able to help you. If you do contact them and they wont, then at least you know now and won't do it again. :( - BeX 15:53, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

my firend gets a messege when trying to get into ab saying he can only go when the battle returns, what does this mean

might be while he was there, the borders between kurzick and luxon territory have moved. in that case the battle map is different and so are the outposts, meaning he's in the wrong outpost to change. simply return to your guild hall and go back into ab to get to the right outpost. see Alliance Battles for more detail. - Y0_ich_halt 21:05, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Slow load, Bad lag

I load slow sometimes, most of the times it takes about 1 minute or 2 minutes to load, but sometimes it takes seconds. Nearly all the time i lag so bad i can barely walk. Make sure that other programs are shut down and that your system meets the minimum requirements (and also recommended). Giving the window focus will shorten load times as well (making sure that its on top or full screen. Hi, my friend gave me his accoutn becuase he does not play anymore and it only had nightfall on it. i purchased factions and profecies and added the cd keys to that account. Recently i decided that i wanted to use MY cd keys to make my own account instead of using my friends. (I cant change the accoutn name becuase i visited the online store one day becuase i was bored, not shopping, bored and i was unaware of the rule.) How can i disable MY CD Keys from my friends account??

The site said the Factions should have come with a small white perforated envelope, containing the code inside. Mine only game with the game, product catalog, trial codes for other games, reference guide, installing instructions, manuscript and a security device. Ok- stores I've tried to return games to usually aren't happy to accept them due to missing keys- the assumption being that you're lying and took it out already. Definitely try NCSoft support. may be a dumb question but...

at the moment i have guild wars nightfall and ive made an account with it. ive ordered 1+2 off the internet and i was wondering whether you can add number 1 campaign to number 3 or whether you had to start with 1 then add 2 or 3 ect.

The new GW:EN (Eye of the North) expansion is different: it requires one of the previous 3 campaigns as a prerequisite and cannot be used on its own.

Whoa, calm down. What exactly does it say is expired, and where exactly did you see the message? Did you pre-order GW:EN? If so, that's just the extra trial keys that came with the pre-order for the other chapters expiring - if you own the full chapters, you'll still be able to play they regularly, since the trial keys didn't affect you in the first place. I m in Factions' primary quest "warning the tengu", Soar Honorclaw asked me to follow Talon Silverwing to defeat an afflicted creature. To south-west, I found nothing and checked around the area for an hour. Is there anything I ve been missing? Please help.

you're supposed to talk to soar honorclaw, get the quest followup and then follow talon, who should begin to walk south-west. you should then find a lvl 14 afflicted assassin (named "afflicted creature") at the beach. - Y0_ich_halt 18:19, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

• Go to Lion's Arch to travel from Tyria to the other continents
• go to Kaineng Center in Cantha
• and Kamadan, Jewel of Istan in Elona

The Cartographer Title

Hi, I just found out that the Arenas count towards the Cartographer title. How much do they add to the amount? Is it possible to reach the 100% without the arena areas? I can't believe there would be no way to reach the 100% and not explore the arenas. Yes, you can get 100% without arenas. If you can access the arenas, however, it is easier to get the title. Even with a level 20 character, you can enter the Ascalon and Kamadan arenas, however you may not play. How 2 start my own game?2

Wut if i don't have a computer @ home. But i go on the computer @ my step-dads house or @ my boy friends. But my step dad does not have the game & that i only c him every 2nd week if i'm lucky. And of course my boy friend has the game @ his house but i don't want him 2 know that i'm playing the game just yet. But since he has the game would it b possible 4 me 2 log on 2 the game but 2 get 2 my own game? And if i did buy the game how much would it cost? Once you buy the game and figure out what campaigns you want, its a great idea to find a helpful guild. Members can help out with missions and such and offer advice on skills, trading, armor, weapons, and enemies. If you ever need a hand in game, feel free to message me at Elviondale Anwarnya. You can log in to your account from any computer that has the game on it. If it doesn't have the game, you can download it through the guild wars web site. Attribute Levels

I maxed out my Fire Magic attribute level and now have been adding runes to my armor to get it to 20 however it is stopping at level 15? I can't figure out why. Im using a Flame Eye FM+1, two Ele Major Fire FM+2 each, and a Ele Minor Fire FM+1. The runes are on Chest Legs and Boots. Please tell me why it's staying at 15 and not at 18. Does playing prophecies have anything to do with it? --Guardian

Attribute bonuses from runes don't stack - if you put a Major and Minor rune on armor pieces, all you'll get is +2. However, the health penalty does stack, so having more than one rune of the same attribute is actually worse. -- AT(talk | contribs) 17:00, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

The highest *permanent* attribute level you can get is 16 (headpiece+superior rune). You can get temporary boosts from Glyph of Elemental Power and items such as Golden Eggs. There are also focus items that give a 1-in-5 chance for a +1 boost as well. --Valshia 18:01, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
