Condition effects
sorry to bother u -but just a query-only been playing a couple of weeks -a complete noob lol-is there a way of displaying on the screen what ench/damage i.e crippling/weakening/bleeding etc is actually on the enemmy target or is this feature not on g/w -thnx. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Manicminergb (talk).
- Some articles that might be useful to get you started: enchantment, hex, condition. Usually there are visual signs on the monster, plus an indicator on it's health bar. If you make a PvP character and go to the Isle of the Nameless, that gives you a pretty good introduction to the game mechanics. Enjoy. :) Biscuits 08:45, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

- On the wiki page of the pet itself (or in the discussion pages) you might find what you're looking for. If there isn't anything useful in that page, then there are likely no tricks to get that pet spawn when you want it. Also, CAPS IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR AWESOME. Saphatorael 13:06, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
The easiest way I found to capture the White Moa is by going just outside of Oafstead over and over. They don't spawn often, but when they do they're just passed the shrine on the right. They're easy to grab because there aren't any enemies you have to fight to get them there. In that case it makes it quick and simple.

Hall of Monuments questions
I'm a little confused about how this is going to work in relation to Guild Wars 2. The fact there are distinct monuments which fill up by doing certain things suggest that the thing that will have an impact on Guild Wars 2 is which ones you have filled up, but then I have read things which seems to suggest that some of your titles and pets and things like that will somehow do something (even if only aesthetic) in GW2. Is it both or what is the deal here? I'm sure a lot of people would like to know well before the sequel actually is released so that those who might be interested can actually focus on those specific things in the meantime.
Also, will we able to create multiple characters as a "descendant" of a single Guild Wars Character? --Amazing Goat 18:30, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Why is there no Quebec option inside sweepstakes forms and will it ever be fixed? The fact that Quebec is not listed it prevents us from submitting those forms therefore we have a 0% chance at winning anything and it's very frustrating.
Elite skill can't be capture in Eye of the north
Thank you for taking the time to answer me.
The situation is: I can't capture the elite skill "Crippling Slash" in Eye of the north. I only own the prophecies and the Eye of the North Extansion. There is the image of a paddlock on the image of the skill when I use a capture signet. Is it because I don't own the Nightfall extansion?
Thanks again.
- Yes, you need to own Nightfall to capture that skill. You won't be able to capture or purchase skills of campaigns that you do not own. --Gummy Joe 22:08, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
pvp-rewards-campaign?
Does the campaign you have, decide on what armor skins are given to you by pvp. By that i mean, i have nightfall, but say i want luxon armor, which is a factions armor, can i get that armor, even though i only have nightfall?
- Short answer, in my experience, is yes armor is determined by what campaigns you have. --People of Antioch 00:34, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

PvP money
How can I get money in the PvP campaign?
- the pvp campaign is technically no campaign. and there is no way to get money (except trade between players), because you don't need any money. there's nothing you can buy for money in pvp. the only type of currency there is balthazar faction. you can unlock skills and items with enough faction, which then become available for all your pvp characters. if your pvp chars need armor or weapons, you can get them through the item creation panel (default "J"). items created this way will be customized for the character which created them. - Y0_ich_halt 20:13, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- just incase you're interested, originally every pvp char got two free weapon sets when you created them and had no way to get more (so players used pve chars instead, because they could buy armor in pve areas), this system with the creation panel has been introduced not long before to make pvp characters more popular. that way, you can create as many weapons, shields and armor as you want. - Y0_ich_halt 20:17, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- There is technically a way to gain money through PvP. You can trade in your kurzick/luxon faction from AB/FA and get Amber Chunks, Jaedite Shards, or Scrolls. Then, provided you have a guild hall that has access to a merchant, you can sell them. The money is pretty useless though, you're better off putting it into storage for your other PvE characters. -- Wandering Traveler 22:53, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

- Its a bit unclear. to get to the Zaishen Elite, you must defeat Five (correct me if I'm wrong) different teams in order to access it. You can't defeat the same team more then once. and as far as I know, its not consecutive, I did it over the course of weeks. -- Wandering Traveler 22:08, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

PVP FANANZA
Alright, i can grasp the reward system in pvp, i cant get my head around the rewards themselves. I guess im wondering if my campaign matters when getting armor, because the armors i start out with in pvp are proph (i have nightfall though). But i was wondering, since i have proph samples, i guess i could get more proph armor, is that the case? And the other issue i have is relating the pve to pvp. Say i have a 20 pve, i bring him to pvp ( i know i cant bring my rewards to the pve realm) but i was wondering if my PvE can get pvp rewards at all.
- Not entirely sure what you're asking but I'll give it a shot. PvP rewards are stuff you can normally get in PvE, in different areas. Uusually every PvP char had a choice between a few basic sets, but now you can change it. But no, you cannot bring PvP items into PvE, generally. Zaishen chests contain items for any of your characters, I believe. You can also PvP with your PvE chars and then go get some rewards for your PvP-only characters. That make sense? - Vanguard 11:49, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

ALLIANCE TROUBLE!!!
Hello,
I am getting very frustrated with ym allaince. i invited my brothers guild to the alliance and the next day i couldnt see his guild in the list. Also the alliance chat was broken as no-one in my guild could see the messages. I tried inviting another guild and they could see me in the list but i couldnt see them. Also they could see our alliance chat but we couldnt see them. As soon as they left we could use our chat again but when i reinvited them it broke again. We cannot be invited to an alliance because it says "you are already a member of an alliance". My brother who we now think is seperate to our guild as they cannot see our chat now at all, cannot invite any guilds because it says "Insufficient invites available" or summit like that, I really wanna know how to fix this.
Yours Faithfully

Defender of Ascalon/Survivior Title Opinion
I just want people opinion for this. What is easier to get the Defender of Ascalon title or the Survivor title?--King Ranik 21:38, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- LDoA is easier but far more tedious. Calor 21:38, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- To put it another way, for LDoA you need to play 30 minutes per day, but you need to leave the game running 10-20 hours without being able to do anything else than watching your character die (and without disconnections, for at least 2 months). For survivor you will need to play 50-100 hours without dying (which may be frustrating if you have a bad connection), but you will be actually "playing".
- Technically, LDoA is easier since you don't really have much to do, but if you don't have patience, is far easier to go for survivor (specially now that you can just dwarven-brawl your way to legendary).--Fighterdoken 21:47, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- I would have to disagree (with Calor) that it's much easier to get the survivor title as well as taking far less time if you use any of the xp farming options for survivor. -- Wynthyst 23:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- They've answered your question so...imho both titles suck. For LDoA your computer plays more then you and Survivor may cause the end of your computer when it locks up or your connection disappears. You have the game to play and have fun right? So there are dozens of other titles to be had, I would just skip those two. -- Inspired to ____ 23:52, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

- As far as I know it's impossible to get both the defender of ascalon title and survivor.-- Wynthyst 23:23, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- Indeed, it's not possible. You could try quitting in the middle of the pvp mission, but when logging back you would be ported to the second part of the mission (or stuck in the character screen being forced to delete your char). In the presearing.com forums there are a lot of other ways you could think to work around this, but that also fail.--Fighterdoken 23:26, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Canthan Protector for Non-Factions Characters?
Hello and thanks in advance for your help. :) I've recently brought my Prophecies N over to Factions and completed all the continental missions (in masters). I now have two missions on Shing Jea Island to complete in order to get Protector, but I don't seem able to access those mission areas. I have a prophecies character needs to get to Shing Jea island for naga pelts quest in Kaineng center. Unfortunately done Mhenlo's request and i think Plague in Cantha so have Kaineng open.
- You'll need to run south, down to the marketplace, then go out to the docks there to get a boat ride to noob island. That's all, no quest is needed. Yukiko 18:37, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
AB(Alliance Battle)
how i can battle in Alliance Battle?I have lvl 20 character but i can t fight Alliance Battle , Why?
- To fight in the Alliance Battles, you need acces to Guild Wars Factions, a Guild Hall, and to be aligned to a faction: either Kurzick or Luxon. To gain allegince for either of these factions, find their ambassadors in either Cavalon for the Luxons, or House Zu Heltzer for the kurzicks. Once you are aligned, An NPC will show up in the Guild Hall that will transport you to AB. -- Wandering Traveler 17:36, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Highest Point in Guild Wars?
Does anyone happen to know what and where the highest accessable point (as in elevation) in all of Guild Wars (across all campaigns) is? Thanks. 68.81.251.195 17:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Elendor The Elf
- You can only guess, but we know Minister Wona's Estate is high up in the mountains west of the Echovald Forest. Besides that, you can really only guess somewhere in the Shiverpeaks. Calor 17:52, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

- I believe Avarr The Fallen's lookout point is the highest accessible point in Tyria (although Heart of the Shiverpeaks could be higher, as it's through a portal), Minister Wona's estate is probably the highest accessible point in Cantha and I think the highest accessible point in Elona is the Sebelkeh Basilica, although the Citadel of Dzagon could be slightly higher. The three points can't be compared, as they lack a common frame of reference. As for the highest point on the map, I'm certain that it's the peak of the large mountain northwest of the accessible portions of the Far Shiverpeaks. -- Gordon Ecker 00:02, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Starter Weapons
How do I get starter weapons out of my inventory? I can't seem to drop them, nor can I sell them. I apologize if the answer to this question is found somewhere else, but I tried searching but could not locate this topic. I also tried FAQs, but could find nothing there either.
Thanks in advance for your help.

TOMES

- Tomes are acquired in Hard Mode. Normal tomes are a rare random drop, while Elite Tomes drop from bosses of that specific profession. -- Wandering Traveler 00:12, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Tomes cannot be used to unlock skills. They are used to learn already unlocked skills witha PvE char. Backsword 15:22, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- Unlocking is not the same as learning. I think that was your misunderstnding. I somehow understand that you were trying to get your PvE characters all Nightfall skills? You'll still have to learn them to your PvE toons. BlazeRick 22:50, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Becoming a Dervish/Ritualist
I just got Nightfall. I had planned on playing as a Dervish/Ritualist for the Restoration Magic, but when I went to get my secondary both Ritualist and Assassin were unavailable. Is it impossible to become what I want early in the game, or do I have to wait until I am able to change secondary profession at the Temple of Balthazar?--209.89.199.176 23:16, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think you can initially get Assassin or Ritualist in Nightfall. However, provided you have Factions unlocked, you will be able to get them from a profession changer. -- Wandering Traveler 23:19, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Assassin and Ritualist are not available as secondary professions for Nightfall characters until they have unlocked the ability to change secondary professions. Note that reaching the Great Temple of Balthazar and talking to the Profession Changer will not unlock the ability to change secondary professions, Nightfall characters can unlock the ability to change secondary professions by completing the Hunted! primary quest, and characters from any campaign including Nightfall can unlock the ability by completing the Augury Rock or Nahpui Quarter mission. -- Gordon Ecker 23:59, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Graphics Error at the Login Screen
I have found that if I leave guildwars running on the login page (say I log out and go do something else while leaving GW running) that after about 20 minutes or so my graphics start to go weird, almost like they have been fragmented, leaving just a mess of colour. To get this to go away, I have to reboot my PC - closing and re-opening GW doesn't work and neither does logging out of my user and back in.
Was wondering if anyone else has this problem or if its just me? It does it on occasion on 2 of the computers I run GW from :s
--80.229.8.204 11:28, 13 May 2008 (UTC) Sarah
- Never happened to me personally, but it doesn't sound too strange. Most likely the graphics card is filling it's cache, or something of the sort; or perhaps it's the GW login screen beginning to loop, after such a long time. Different graphics cards tend to have different little "glitches" like that, but so long as it's not actually impacting you when you're playing, I wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't give you the glitch if you're playing normally, does it? Only when you park on the login screen for a long time? -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 12:26, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- This HAS happened to me. The ground turns into a gridded mess of colors, often green and orange. I took a screenshot of it, but I guess I didn't upload it (just checked my photobucket.) I just restart, too.- Vanguard 12:34, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks guys, good to know I'm not alone. And yes, it does impact on the game, I cant even see the login box! Thanks for the replies, I guess its just something I'll have to put up with :P

- Worst case scenario it happens in the middle of a mission. Which happens. And it SUCKS.- Vanguard 14:35, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- As long as it's not messing up your game while you're playing it (it's only the login screen), then it's not a big deal.
- But all in all, it's a graphics glitch, and most likely tied to your graphics card and drivers. If you can, look for updates to your graphics card driver(s), sometimes that will fix glitches like that. I've had glitches as well on occasion (such as textures not loading), and my brother once had a glitch that would turn some floor panels white for no apparent reason. In his case, it was fixed when we updated the graphics card driver, in my case, it's only happened once or twice, probably just a memory glitch or something of the sort. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 07:50, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Kurzick / Luxon Armor
If i am in a luxon alliance can i still buy kurzik armor? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Silver13ullet (talk).
- Yes, you just have to make it far enough through the Factions campaign to reach the relevant outposts: House zu Heltzer for standard 1k armor and Vasburg Armory for prestige armor. --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 12:20, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

EotN
I have added the access key for Eye of the North and my game says I have access to that campaign but I can't select it. So I can't create a nord character. What do I need to do
- EotN is not a standalone campaign, and you cannot create cracters there. 'Nord' (Norn?) is not an available choice. Instead, you need to go there with an existing character, via one of three quests. Backsword 15:19, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
I have added my access key for Eye of the North and the game says I have access to that campaign but I have no icon for the campaign. What is happening?--Ahrzahni 15:21, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Eye of the North is not a full campaign, just an expansion pack. You can't create any Eye of the North characters, but you use your existing characters and move them there to play the storyline. Speak to Len Caldoron, Minister of Maintenance Raiugyon or Bendah to access the EotN area. You can also read Guild Wars Eye of the North for more information. -- Brains12 15:21, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

- The question of 'best' is difficult one to answer as what weapon mods are best for one build are not best for another, however the general thinking is that a Strength and Honor inscription is considered 'perfect' for most melee weapons.-- Wynthyst 06:47, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- So-called 15^50 inscriptions are popular, seeing as they almost always work; depending on your builds, sometimes something like "+15% while in a stance" can be nice too, or even a +5energy inscription. Don't forget! Since it's a gold weapon, it can be salvaged; simply use a Perfect Salvage Kit to change out mods, or if you don't need an old inscription, you can add a new one on top. So don't worry that you'll mess up the whole weapon if you put the "wrong" inscription on it. It shouldn't ever be a "permanent" change. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 07:45, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

GuildWars box art
Hum, not so much an ingame-type question, but I didn't really know where else to ask this, and I checked a couple of pages on the wiki already and didn't find much of anything. Anyway. The main article pages for each campaign/expansion shows the standard art on the game boxes (standard/collectors), and the Prophecies boxes on the Prophecies page always have Eve on the cover. But recently when I was throwing out a bunch of stuff in my room, I found the first GuildWars box I ever bought: the Prophecies pre-order. And, much to my surprise (as I hadn't actually seen the box in about three years), it didn't have Eve on it, but Mhenlo and Cynn. So I was wondering, are there other GWs box designs that I haven't seen? I seem to remember that one Prophecies box I saw in a computer store once had that nameless ranger chick (who is she anyway? She's got brown hair and wears green I think) on the cover, if I remember correctly (then again, I could be wrong, since I do recall that she was featured in a wallpaper on guildwars.com at one point several years ago and I could just be confused...).
I dunno, maybe this would be a good idea for a supplemental article of sorts? Like, an article that shows all of the different designs that have been used for GuildWars boxes so far? Dragon nataku 20:17, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- prophecies has multiple boxes but now it's usually just eve and warrior on the back.--話す priestess donut 寄付22:16, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- They had 3 different boxes I believe. One with Mhenlo and Cynn, one with Eve and that one nameless Warrior, and another with the Archer Henchman (and something else) which is found in the Guild Halls. — ク Eloc 貢 15:53, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Ah, OK, so it's not like there were 10,000 different box designs or anything. I suppose by "Archer Henchman" you mean Reyna (since your link apparently ate itself). Oh well, there goes my idea for a new Wiki article. :op Thanks for the replies. Dragon nataku 18:10, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
