Two games (accounts) on the same computer
I've checked the FAQ and help pages but I need a more concrete response. Is it possible to install two games, say, in this case, prohecies, on the same computer? The purpose is so that two different people can play the game on the same machine. There is no intention of joining the two accounts and I'm aware of the EULA rules on people using accounts.
I tried to send this once - don't know if it worked. If it did, sorry for the repeat. --Dakolson 00:07, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Sure, each player has their own account, and registers their own cd keys. There will be only one installation of guild wars on the computer, but you can log in to however many accounts you wish. (edit) To clarify a bit more, the account information is stored not on your computer, but on the ArenaNet servers. You can log in to your account on any machine that has Guild Wars installed. -- Wyn 00:12, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- I don't follow that Dom, I have 2 accounts as do several of my friends. -- Wyn 04:00, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- I think Dom means running two accounts at the same time, not owning two accounts. Buuuuuuut I thought it was only against the EULA to run two characters from the same account at the same time, not two characters from different accounts at the same time. Not sure though. --Dragon nataku 04:57, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- That's impossible. If you're logged into an account on one computer and someone logs into the same account on the other computer, the first computer is automatically logged out. -- Gordon Ecker 06:06, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- I've been on both my accounts at the same time as are many people I know who have multiple computers, so if this is a violation of the EULA, I guess it's news to me. -- Wyn 06:09, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- i'd think it was fine as long as they don't interact--Sum Mesmer Guy contribs 08:34, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

- Its not against the EULA to have 2 accounts (that you own) interacting at the same time (on different computers). What I meant is its against the EULA to modify Guild Wars to run 2 separate accounts at once, on the same computer. Dominator Matrix 00:42, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- I know many peeps that use the program GWx2 on their comp but i dont think it modifies the client, I think it partitions your computer instead. -- Salome 00:45, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) That still circumvents Guild Wars from detecting 2 process's at once. Even renaming the file to GW2.EXE is the same. As its getting around the system to allow access you shouldn't be otherwise granted. Dominator Matrix 00:48, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Since I can find nothing that disallows this I have contacted A.Net to see if this is even allowed, and to clarify. Dominator Matrix 01:00, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well... aren't we going a bit off-topic?
- Answering OP, you can "have two accounts" on the "same machine".
- Just make sure to logout one account before playing with the second one. ;)
- People are making an uproar about being allowed or not to have the same PC running two copies of the game at the same time, but, reading original question, I don't think it's what Dakolson asked.
- Please correct me if I'm wrong. ;)
- In short: using the same computer to play two accounts (one each a time) is ok; using third-party software to allow you to run a second copy of the game (while another one is already running) might/should/will lead you into problems... --NIN37 21:09, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Problems With My Account
- → moved from Help:Ask a game question
My PC has got a problem loading up Guild Wars. I have all of the packages GW,F,NF and EotN. My question is this if I was to reinstall the packages would I lose my characters. Is there a way I can protect them from being erased. Or is there something I can do that is a whole lot less tedious than that available to me.. Is it possible to cut and past my character saves? Has there been any account violiations recently that A.Net are aware of. Any advice would be greatfully received
TY --91.194.221.225 08:48, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- You do not loose characters when you delete and re-install the software from your PC.
- You can save the <disk><root><program files><guildwars>*.dat files to a seperate location and replace it when you re-installed the game again. *(this will ONLY help with loading faster in area's, nothing else).
- If you suspect anything other wrong with your account please contact support.
- --Silverleaf 09:06, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- As Silverleaf said, you won't lose your characters when you reinstall, since all your account data is stored on the ArenaNet servers. Silverleaf's solution will make it quicker to reinstall, unless the problem is with your Gw.dat file, which it often is, in which case you'll just have to do a full download, or get a working copy from a friend. Biscuits 09:09, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- You would have had your answer earlier if you'd just click on the FAQ link. -- ab.er.rant 16:52, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Before reinstalling your game, make sure to take note on your username/password, though. ;)
- GWW already get floods of "How do I find my login?" questions, so, please take needed steps to avoid having to ask it. :P
- Bottom note: characters (name, level, experience, items, titles, skills, etc) are stored server-side (even if you change PC you should be able to reach them).
- Only thing that is stored client-side are build templates and screenshots. If you want to keep any build/screen, make sure to backup them as well. --NIN37 05:28, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Paypal
I thought one of the updates stated PayPal payment was available for the PlayNC store? <HORSEDROWNER> 12:30, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- We're pleased to announce that players in the US, the UK, and Germany can now use PayPal in the PlayNC store for purchasing any digital code item. This includes all campaigns, the Bonus Mission Pack, and the PvP Unlock Pack. To purchase an item with a PayPal account, simply log in to the PlayNC store and click the "Check out with PayPal" button.
- This option is available for all Guild Wars items and many other things in the PlayNC store, but not for NCsoft game subscriptions and NCcoin. For additional information and help about this new payment option, please visit the Support Center. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 15:11, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

- The error code isn't on the list at the error code page. Your account name is generally the email address you used to register. Bloccked Account
My account only says "your account was blocked for an account issue" Code 45 --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.197.207.66 (talk).
- You should see a message next to the Code 45 telling you if it's temporal or permanent. But basically, you (or your "little brother") did something in the game that you should have not, and your account was blocked because of that.--Fighterdoken 23:40, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- See the Error code page for specific information about what each error code stands for. Code 45 stands for offensive behavior. Basically, a certain number of players likely reported your account for whatever reason. Like Fighterdoken mentioned, there should be another part of that message stating how long the ban is...either X hours, or permanent. If it's a temporary ban, then your account is "marked", which is effectively a warning not to do it again. If you keep repeating the offense, that will likely turn into a permanent ban in the future. --tero 22:40, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

- (Edit conflict) Yes you have to buy another copy of all the campaigns you want to play together. You can do it via the in-game store, which will give them to you instantly if you don't want to go to a store/wait for delivery. Make sure you make a new account with the first access key, then add the others to that account. Biscuits 08:54, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

- Yes sorry, I forgot. You need to use the PlayNC Store (http://www.plaync.com) to buy the first game. You can buy the rest from the in-game store after that once you have a new account. Beware that it might be cheaper to buy a package of games than buying them all individually, so check out the prices first! Biscuits 09:54, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- You would need to establish the second account through PlayNC. Then you log into that account and can purchace from the online store. -- Wyn 09:58, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- Except that you need to have a valid key to make a 2nd account, which requires purchasing a game. ;) So he will need to buy one game (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, Platinum, or PvP Access Kit) from PlayNC, and use that to make the account. (Reset indent) In short:
- Start a new account (seems PlayNC is your best choice).
- Use this new account to buy the games you want to play together.
You can't buy the games with the existing account then transfer to the other.
You must be using the account you want to purchase the campaign with (either if you are using PlayNC website or Guild Wars in-game shop).
You can buy offline as well (go to a real store and grab a box with a valid serial inside), but, again, make sure you're adding that key to the correct account. --NIN37 12:26, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

- I believe user is talking about Xunlai Tournament House.
- I can't really help on this, cause I don't use it. :P
- But, IIRC, you have to use a different email from the one you use to play GW due to security reasons. --NIN37 12:14, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Report command.
Guild Wars people are totally abusing the repot command, I think there should be a better way to go about banning poeple for so called mis use of language. Instead of letting every prepubescent teen with angst against someone to just type /repot a couple times and boom, get their account suspended. A review of the situation should be followed with adequate evidence proving the discrediting abuse of language before a decision is made about banning someone. And the rule about swearing has got to go. If you don't like it then grow up because swears are a part of every day life and if you can't handle them then I guess you should still be letting mommy and daddy set the parental controls on your computer. And if you are religious bite your bloody tongues because religion has no part in a video game.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:69.11.92.159 (talk).
- I thought that reporting did not cause any kind of automated suspension (except for leeching in PvP), a large number of reports merely flagged the situation to be inspected. On the topic of swear words and profanities, the game is rated for young children to play, Arena-net has a responsibility to keep swearing to a minimum.- TheRave 15:24, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- AFAIK, reports are reviewed by staff (it's not an automatic process). If you don't break any rules you can't be flagged.
- Also, if one is getting in trouble every time they use local chat, they might want to rethink their attitude in game (and recheck ToS just in case).
- And, please, let's not start a flame war about religion/religious matters and whatnot.
- Lastly, we're not ANet, we're just a community of players. If you would like to discuss their ToS, you should contact Support instead. --NIN37 16:06, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds like somebody got banned. :) --tero 17:25, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- I find it amusing that people who break the rules complain about how those rules should not exist. Too bad we can't do that sort of thing in the real world. I want to steal? I make the laws against stealing go away by complaining about it. I want to murder a bunch of people? Whine about the laws against that until those go away, too. Sorry, but maybe you're the one who should "grow up" and realize that rules are there to be followed. Perhaps there are other games out there that have rules that fit your, um, "unique" personality better? Also, I'm pretty sure Anet doesn't mind cursing per se. Their report option specifies verbal abuse, not swear words (as there is a chat filter option in the game for a reason). --Dragon nataku 22:12, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- Dragon, rules are guidelines, they should never be used in every situation. Is it illegal to pull your grandmother's life support if she wants you to? That's murder. Same thing with GW. People who don't like people swearing should turn their chat filter on, but anet is too stupid to know which way is North on a roadmap to really care. They ban people in a T rated game for putting "butt" in their character name. The simple truth is that rules only matter if intelligent people enforce them, which is not the case in this game, so why not just play it safe instead and pretend you're a communist 3-year-old. That's what anet wants all GW players to be. ~Shard 22:56, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- IIRC, you have to agree with some weird Rules of Conduct that says stuff like "While playing Guild Wars, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players. You will not report players maliciously, or cause them to be investigated without reason." and "You may not use sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or racially or ethnically offensive language.".
- So, in short, if someone doesn't like the game, just don't play it. :D
- But I'm not in the mood to discuss how ANet staff deals with their own rules, though. Perhaps they should take it easier, perhaps they should enforces it a bit more, perhaps they should remove them all. :P
- Also, Guild Wars has more than one Chat "channel". So using the proper one (trade for market, team for quests/missions, local for social, etc) should prevent further problems. --NIN37 03:52, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- This is all really simple. You agreed to the ToS and RoC when you installed the game, follow them. Period. If you don't like it, don't play. --tero 04:45, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Suspension
Is there a way to plead my case for being suspended? It says for spamming but i don't even know what that is...--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Wacca (talk).
- Chat spamming is the very rapid sending of messages, whether to repeat the same message or send different ones. Spamming can easily fill a player's chat window, perhaps causing them to miss other messages, and many players frown upon it. Try contacting GuildWars support if you think the suspension is not justified. The link is in rule number 1 on top of this page. --Arduinna 11:21, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- If you're only suspended, I assume that means temporary, so just wait it out. — ク Eloc 貢 16:20, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Just a side-note, spamming can also refer to spamming emotes, not just text. Also, if you were sending trade messages in "All Chat" instead of "Trade Chat", that could also be interpreted as spamming. Just some pointers so you can avoid this happening again. --tero 16:39, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

I have lost my CD Key but still have my Account info, how do I get my key back?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:58.65.148.152 (talk).
- Normally the game keep track of your registered keys when you logout. Unless you never had a key the game remind them all and you only have to login. Yseron - 90.28.72.148 20:39, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- There are no CD Keys, there are only Access Keys which are used to create/add features to an account. Once the key has been added to an account the key is useless; You no longer need the key. All you need is your account info: username and password.- TheRave 20:39, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- You should probably keep your key in case you need to confirm your identity with support. -- Gordon Ecker 23:16, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- If you had already added your Access Key to your account, you don't really need it anymore (yeah, better to keep it in case you ever need to contact support).
- If you lost it after you purchased it but before using it, unfortunately that would be your own fault (for not taking care of it) so there's nothing that can be done other than getting (buying) a new one.
- If you bought it online, check your email (again, if you deleted it before using, there isn't much that can be done). --NIN37 10:56, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Help I dont have Code Key
Ok I just bought Eotn and i didnt get code key what do i do now? The Store i bought it from say that they dont have anything with the key code on it. I just bought Eotn and i dont have code key? The store i bought it from say they dont have anything with a code key on it.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:69.137.111.44 (talk).
- The code key will be in it not on it. If they won't replace the product with a missing key then get your money back and buy it elsewhere. If they won't give your money back quote Trading Standards to them. If that doesn't work contact support about the faulty product and explain the situation.- TheRave (talk) 06:13, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Access Code
what are u supossed to do this is stupid the acces code what the fuck man i buy it for nothing man. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Dragonex23 (talk).
- If you mean how do you add an access code to your account, you do that at the login screen, there is an option to create an account or add an access key. Just click that link and it will ask you for your username and password, or take you through the process of creating an account, and then allow you to add an access key. -- Wyn 15:07, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- If you downloaded the game client from the GuildWars website because you thought that "free to download" meant "free to play," well, that's not a very good business model. ^>__o^;; You will need to actually buy an access key to play the game. --Dragon nataku 16:02, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Since you mentioned "buy" in your strangely compacted sentence... if you bought it from PlayNC.com, then you first need to download and install the game client. If you bought the game box, you first need to install the game client and then create a new account. It will ask you to input your access code. -- ab.er.rant 14:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
How do I delete an acount
I bought Guid Wars Factions around a year ago and didn't know about merging acounts until I actually through away the access key.So I would like to know how to delete my factions account and then merge it to my normal Guild Wars account. Also I would like to know sense the Factiuon game I purchsed recently has a difrent code over the barcode on the back of the game if there is going to be a promblem. I bought the guildwars game today second hand. Access key denies entry "Access key in use" How do i gain new access key if i am not the original owner? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:65.37.8.247 (talk).
- You don't, you got scammed or the seller didn't do the research, either way, you should demand a refund. -- Gordon Ecker 01:49, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- It is possible to get the e-mail address and password for the account from the original owner, and then change the password. Although that is against the EULA. You're not supposed to buy 2nd-hand versions of Guild Wars. The best thing to do is to take it back and buy your own new copy. Biscuits 19:00, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

- You have no excuse for not knowing the rules as you agreed to them when you made an account. If you decided not to read them that is your fault. It is unlikely that you were suspended with no reason, if it doesn't give a reason then it makes best to ask support as none of us here can tell why you were suspended.- TheRave (talk) 15:23, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

- Your Guild Wars username is your email address, with that you can use the "Reset password" feature. Your PlayNC master account is going to be more difficult. My suggestion is to check all your old emails to see if you can find your registration email. Alternatively if you still can't find your PlayNC or your Guild Wars username, the only option I can see is to contact support and they may be able to inform you of your details if you provide enough information (e.g. your Game Key(s)).- TheRave (talk) 20:03, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

unreport leeching
Can I make an unreport of leeching? Made a mistake of reporting someone for leeching & found out they were effected by a spell.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:72.230.93.239 (talk).
- There is no method for unreporting, leeching or otherwise. Do not worry though as it takes more than one person to get the target person Dishonorable. Also, it takes more than one instance of false reporting, to make yourself Dishonorable. Any dishonorable points you do get will automatically disappear after 60minutes of not getting any. My Suspension of October 18, 2008.
- → moved from HELP:GAME# My Suspension of October 18, 2008.
Hello,
My account has been suspended for 355 hours, due to in-game fraud (scamming). I now realize that this is not the way to behave on a game, and can promise it won't happen again. I insistantly agreed with the one I scammed, (whose name I cannot remember), to pay back what was stolen. I owed him 15k, and payed back 5k of it, and right before my account was suspended, I had finally gotten the last 10k of what was owed, and was waiting for him to return.
My account name is <email address removed>, but I can't get into the e-mail account. My character's name is Joseph Molotov.
I would like to get back with this matter, so the best way to contact me is through the e-mail address of <email address removed>.

- You only realised that scamming someone is bad behavior after you've been banned? That's difficult to believe.
- Regardless, if you're looking for your suspension to get reduced, you're hoping wrong. If you scammed someone in real life and you get a jail sentence, you're not getting out just because you agree to reimburse. -- ab.er.rant 02:14, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

GW Complete Collection + stand-alone campaigns
Is it possible to add a key from the recent Complete Collection to an account that already has access to some of the campaigns? Ie. an account already has Nightfall and Factions access keys, what happens if a Complete Collection key is added to the same account? Does it "neatly" give the account access to Prophecies and EotN, or will it mess something up? (Before you say, just buy Platinum, it's proving hard to get at my location right now.) 81.175.143.201 12:10, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- It won't mess anything up. You'll get access to all the features included in Complete Collection and whatever you previously had (e.g. you won't lose any account bonuses, additional character slots, et cetera). Biscuits 12:32, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- But would you end up with 8 character slots or 12? --JonTheMon 12:54, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- I suspect if he has 6 already, he would get an additional 2, making 8 in total. But I don't know - asking support should clear it up. Biscuits 13:01, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- Also, to the OP, do you have any online retailers in Finland that you could buy the Platinum edition from? Might be worth checking out - although it may not work out to be cheaper. You could also try the in-game and PlayNC stores. Biscuits 13:03, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

- Yes, you can upgrade an existing account with a Complete Collection key, but, unless it costs less than the remaining two other games you're missing, I see no reason to add it to upgrade your account.
- PlayNC is selling each game for US$30 (same price as in-game store). Not sure how much it costs in Europe.
- Adding a second access key from the same campaign will not add extra character slots (this was asked about adding a Collector's Edition over a normal one). So, Prophecies + Factions + Nightfall (+ Eye of the North) = 8 character slots (each new campaign adds 2 extra character slots to the existing account).
- Personally, unless you've already unlocked many features (skills, runes & weapon upgrades, arenas, hats, bonus mission pack, game of the year upgrade, account-based titles and so on) on your old account, I would suggest you to start a brand new account with your newer Complete Collection (so you could use your older account as extra storage space). --NIN37 15:03, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- As some have already said, you can try the ingame store, if you have a credit card (that hasn't blacklisted the GWs online store, since some credit card companies have done this). They used to offer prices in pounds at some point, but I think credit cards automatically do conversions of that sort anyway. Otherwise, you could try an American online retailer that ships to wherever you live (I think someone mentioned you live in Finland?). Might be a bit expensive, but I don't really know how much more or less expensive it would be compared to buying the Complete Collection while already having Factions and Nightfall. Alternatively, try Ebay? I know lots of sellers on there ship overseas, but there's also a chance of getting scammed. Of course, there's also always a chance of something you bought from an online store getting lost or irrepairably damaged during shipping, so either way it's a gamble. Anyway, gl! --Dragon nataku 02:26, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

I switched to Comcast and my old email I used for Guild Wars doesn't work. And its been so I long I forgot my password so I'm kinda in a dead end. How do I delete my old account because I want to make a new account? (if you don't know don't reply)
thanks--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:69.254.25.155 (talk).
- Accounts cannot be deleted. The only method you may be able to recover your account is by contacting support. They will most likely ask you for your account name and access key(s). If you no longer have your access key(s) it is unlikely you will be able to recover your account and the only way you can play again is to purchase the game new.- TheRave (talk) 16:21, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
can I have more than 1 account?
can i have more than 1 account on a computer but with a different email?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:78.150.55.220 (talk).
- You can have more than one account but you will find it very difficult to use both accounts on one computer at the same time (it is possible but very complicated to get it working). Also it can be seen as suspicious.- TheRave (talk) 18:30, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Just a side-note...If you do create two accounts, each access key that you own may only be used once. For instance, if you want to play Nightfall on both accounts, you'll have to purchase two copies of Nightfall. --tero 21:43, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm... wasn't this already throughly discussed on first question on this page?
- Yes, you're eligible to have more than one account. Yes, you can use same computer to use more than one account (not sure about simultaneously using two accounts on same computer). Guild Wars account aren't computer-based/restricted, so you are free to use same computer to play one or another account; and you can play with your account into another computer (but you cannot use the same account at two different computers at once).
- To make life easier, you can set up separated shortcuts for each account; e.g., shortcut1 says "gw.exe -email name1@etc -password pass1", while shortcut2 says "gw.exe -email name2@etc -password pass2" where name1@etc and name2@etc would be the login and pass1 and pass2 would be their respective passwords. More info on that can be found at Command line arguments article. --NIN37 21:55, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Dishonorable
I've been reported many times as seemingly "dishonorable" in the costume brawl that just started yesterday and got temp banned from joining pvp games. What I don't understand is why? I've joined games where our team is losing in something as ridiculous as 6-4 and everyone resigns. Then they promptly start name calling, etc, and report me because I choose to at least try instead of just up and quitting. I don't see why I should miss out on faction and rewards because some people are sore losers. I didn't think that reporting was allowed to be frivolous??? I thought there were punishments for abuse of the report system ><--63.135.15.219 07:17, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
- Really, dishonorable can be frivolous. It's based on the number of people in your team that report you for leeching. It's not like reporting someone for language or spamming, where Anet reviews it. I have a few buddies who disonorabled me as a joke when I afked for a few seconds in TA. Anyway, you might want to check out the Dishonorable article for some more info. There's a couple sections there that say you can get dishonorable if you either quit several matches before being sent to an outpost (even if everyone else is dead), or if you resign a few times in a row. The resigning thing is only supposed to dishonorable you if it's in Rollerbeetle Racing or Alliance Battles, but maybe it also applies to Costume Brawl? --tero 16:15, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

- You can also add the access key (if you've already gotten it) via the game client. As you know, after you login to the game, you're taken to the character selection screen. At the bottom of this screen are a couple of buttons, one of which is "Edit Account." Clicking that takes you to a new menu (pictured here). Choose the "Manage Access Keys" option, and you can then add the Nightfall access key to the account you are logged in to. --Dragon nataku 04:27, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
