98.28.51.187 03:51, 19 July 2009 (UTC) Linsey, this was a great quest. My friend and I did it buddy-wise (2 humans, 6 heroes) and were heavy on MM's and disease. We died the first time at the last boss, I believe, and then re-spec'd a little and added a ton of disease and focused more on the Gnashers. Anyway it was great fun. I don't know that it is truly Master level for this expansion, but it was fun and exciting. Thank god we didn't have to protect the dwarves. I am really liking not having to absolutely protect that one NPC or you lose. Keep up the good work. --Ravious 03:06, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Yep, this was definitely a fun, chaotic mess. I think me and my hero/hench team were down to just two when a boss fell, recharging our rez sigs and allowing us to make a full comeback. --Thervold 22:15, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Personally I found it difficult enough to earn its master-level designation, but here's a strategy I used that worked (I've only finshed this quest once though, so there's a possibility I just got lucky). I ignored anything coming from the portal to Varajar Fells and went for the Gnashers to the northeast. But leave 1 or 2 alive, and run to the group to the southeast and finish that off, except for 1 or 2. By now the gnashers are probably dead and the group of rangers has arrived -- go finish all but 1 or 2 of those off, then go back to the new group that has probably come in from the southeast. The key is that new groups won't spawn until you finish off the previous group, so leaving a couple alive buys you time. You can't bring a MM if you want to do this, though. By using this strategy, the main boss group arrived from Varajar Fells before I had even seen all of the boss groups from the other portals. We finished that group off and completed the quest and didn't have to kill any of the other boss groups that started coming in. I'll try doing it again and see if it works a second time. I agree fully, very fun quest. I found it was very easy if you make use of wells and wards, then take each group one by one until the end. I got lucky though, Jalis held off 2 mobs of summit by himself the entire time :D Pushbiscuit 23:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Easier after transformation of dwarves?[edit]

I did this quest once before the dwarves were transformed and with another character after the transformation. In latter case your allied dwarves are transformed, too, which might have an effect on the quest (it seemed to be quite easy). Anyone able to confirm this?

Not sure if I can confirm "per se", but I had transformed dwarves, and this quest didn't feel hard enough to merit Master difficulty, most of the transformed guys seemed to get attacked on their own by 5-6 stone summit, so they went down pretty quick anyway. Biggest issue I had was a Dolyak master spawning within a stone column, took much longer than usual to kill off! This quest reminded me a lot of Protect the Learned, which seemed much harder. Finished it in 8 minutes, Hero/Henched it only I died, twice.

bugged quest marker?[edit]

Attack on Jalis's Camp Quest Marker Bug.JPG

If you are in an outpost, the quest marker shows to Ice Cliff Chasms. Then, if you are in the Chasms, Attack on Jalis's Camp is in green font written over Battledepths. And finally, if you are in Battledepths, there is no quest marker at all. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 17:42, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Small observation, but if you've already finished the game, you can more readily access Orozar's and Jalis's location in battledepths by heading in from the Central Transfer Chamber. BramStoker (talk, contribs) 22:27, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Have to complete nothern allies?[edit]

Do I have to complete the northern allies quest chain before the guy can give me the quest?

Wtf kind of glitch is this?[edit]

I finished the quest right, and when I went back to the place after it ended my quest said "See Farmer Zinhao for reward" But that is a NPC from MEGA EARLY Factions. Like before the city. And I got the reward from the normal guy but wtf? --Necroflare715 01:20, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Incomplete Entry[edit]

There are no requirements listed but when you arrive freshly in the Cave it is completely empty. So I assume one must have completed "Nothern Allies" for the cave to be populated? If so, it should be added - like with other quests that have a condition to be met - as this quest's requirement. 79.216.242.141 21:30, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

It's in the info-box, "preceded by Northern Allies". -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 16:20, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

"Ural Highstone is a non-combatant..."[edit]

He can be harmed AND killed before the scripted sequence at the end. This has no effect on the outcome however. Didn't get a screenshot of his corpse, but here is one where he is fighting and taking damage. Here is a link to the photobucket because I have no clue how to embed directly onto this page. Picture. I will edit the note to correctly reflect this. --Lolwho 13:02, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

There an easy way to do this?[edit]

I notice no one suggest any type of people to bring or how to do this. Is there an easy way to do this? I just tried 3 times and died. --♥♥Sweet ♥ Sweet♥♥ 20:28, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

This one is easy. bring 2 wars (devona and talon) 1 protter and 2 healers, 1 monk and 1 N/RT is what i used (these should be heroes so you can rely that itll be done right) Zho the rupt hench, Cynn and optional.

Sit on top of the stairs at the rez shrine, the two war henchies blocking the spawns and just kill 'em, wait for the second wave and nuke those too. Then proceed down the stairs, hugging the left wall towards the next spawn point where you take out everything that spawns.

When that's done move to the left wall and follow it, there will be many summit and two bosses. If you managed to do the previous 4 waves, you can handle these. They have a few healers in the back, who can be hard to see because they stand in the middle of the casting mob.

When you kill those, the warrior boss will spawn at the rez shrine and you can simply lure the warriors down, then hit the boss and the healer behind him. Demonic Fahrir talk A trick is to let the NPCs do all the fighting. They will not die, as they can self-resurrect, and they will slowly kill all the enemies. Hang back near one of the empty spawn points, and let Jalis and his monk kill every enemy. A useful place for escape is the passage to the North East. You may have to fight through a spawned group (or just keep retreating) but from there you can either leave it to the NPCs or aggro the odd group without having to take on everyone.

Anyone know how long this takes. I've been there for 5 hours and 30 minutes and still lots of ss about.

Blind luck or maybe decent?[edit]

I just finished the main quest line and wanted to try to get a feel for the actual mission.

This isn't the best, but it has helped with my lackluster title grind as the dagger spam has done fine so long as I keep the conditions and hexes away.

I had a skill unlock pack and also mercenary pack since I haven't played in around 7-8 years.

After activating the quest, I believe I stayed almost entirely south (where ultimately the end bosses stay). I let the npcs do there thing while holding down the stair cases and staying out of the mess. Well, that was going to take forever. I could also tell the death nova minion army was going to be quite bad once they did steamroll the npcs.

So I flicked the longbow a bit and sent in the ebon vanguard assassin as fodder a couple of times.

Some of our team's minions went to work and caused general issues for the mobs, for some split or had to go back to the fight after a bit of running back and forth.

The MM hero summoned some amongst the dead before taken by the enemy Necros, which did help to especially soak up the death nova/disease from far away.

The unexpected swarm of minions that broke from their aggro on the npcs toward our position was the only moment I thought we might have issues actually. Everything was jammed up badly and I didn't want to take all those novas in the same place. I forced myself down and around to get distance between my heros and the undead grenades. The hero came in nicely with protective spirit and I could Vamp dagger/DB a cluster at a time. I put up shroud of distress as soon as I saw the blobs all marching at us. Veratas gaze was going to be on the bar, but again - I didn't go to town first as I expected to get wiped quickly on this first attempt.

We took a rampage of death nova minions (well actually it was mostly my assassin) but the protective spirit and Vamp daggers made up for slicing through a bunch to recover energy as well. The Derv helped to clean up the ones close to our main ball and take on a spawn before I pushed my way back around.

Before I knew it the first objective boss spawned on us and was dead within moments. A minute or two later the last boss appeared and got slaughtered so fast it took a bit for the game to recognize the victory.

So we ended up with no party deaths actually.

So what I think worked well:

Killing to not get killed, followed by quick regroups and control of the steps.

Waiting a lot to let the AI set up correctly.

Putting Weaken armor on the MM I find has always been hugely helpful for my assassin E-management when faced with spawned mobs.

Between the DPS and nearly constant energy recovery allowed for nonstop dagger chains on the steps. The higher HP foes only served to wipe the adjacent due to DB spam.

Plenty of options on the team to prevent any melee hate as well as mage hate.

Plus the smite hero does use strength of honor well.

Ebon standard of honor does crank up some nice damage here too as the entire party with spirits and minions all generally were within it when needed.

I only get +11 damage at my title, but this with 8 party members, around 7 minions, 7 (not bloodsong?) spirits = tons of extra damage.

Ebon Assassin summon did often die quickly - however the aggro management and disruption came in the most aid.

So maybe I did just get lucky a bit, and improvements could be made to the team build, but I'm happy with the results. --Crit vengeance (talk) 21:16, 5 July 2019 (UTC)Crit Vengenace 7/5/19
