is it just me or are heroes very reluctant to use this skill?24.182.202.236 03:22, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Odgen seems to use this skill just fine...condition applies, condition dismissed, just like that. How often does your hero use it? 04:40, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I love this skill as a light heal when bonding. ~ XIAO

I'm able to cast this on binding ritual spirits -- is that normal? o.o ~ Chao 12:00, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Not sure, prolly just a bug.--70.161.97.235 06:10, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Why does this heal more than Orison? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.161.97.235 (talk).
Because it has two requirements? the condition to be removed and the target must be enchanted? MrPaladin talk 17:12, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
no, the target only gotta be enchanted in order for the healing to occur... - Wuhy User Wuhy sig.jpg 07:02, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Um...dunky wont use this without a condition. Unless im missing something the note would seem to be wrong about heros using it more for the healing aspect. Justice 20:02, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Heroes won't use it without an enchantment. 61.69.199.123 06:35, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Impact on spirits[edit]

To clarify the intent of the anomaly wording:

  • You can target spirits with the skill; that generally can't be done with other skills that heal.
  • You can remove burning successfully using the skill.
  • When you do so, the spirit is not healed.
  • Spirits cannot suffer any other condition, so we don't know what might happen if those were removed.
  • Spirits cannot be enchanted. → There's no way to use DC to heal a spirit.

I tested on the isle of the nameless using a burning spirit and a non-burning one. DC removed the burning (the degen stopped), but the health of the spirit was unchanged. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:37, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

unaffected by divine favour too? --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 21:07, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
I didn't think to check that. (I don't have a primary monk.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:31, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Appears to be no divine favour gain. So once again, heroes cannot be healed (also brought mend condition, mending touch but neither work on spirits) --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 21:37, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Ok, let's address the first three points here:

  • Skills that have a healing component indeed cannot target spirits. That includes some condition removal skills like Mending Touch, Mend Condition, Mend Ailment and Mend Body and Soul, but not Dismiss Condition. The fact that DC can target spirits is an anomaly.
  • Any condition removing skill that can target spirits will work just fine. This includes removal skills without a healing component (Purge Conditions, Draw Conditions, Smite Condition, ..) as well as untargeted skills (Martyr). There is no restriction on condition removal against spirits, so it's unsurprising that burning is actually removed. Not an anomaly.
  • DC is not supposed to heal since the spirit is not enchanted, so it's unsurprising to see that it actually doesn't. Not an anomaly.

Your note spells out all three points, even though only the first one is an anomaly. The other two are exactly as the skill description says and are consistent with other skills, thus IMHO not noteworthy. I'd propose to shorten the note to a more concise:

"Anomaly: Unlike most other skills with a healing component, Dismiss Condition can target spirits."

That works for me. For consistency, the notes at Spirit and Empathic Removal should also be adjusted. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 22:36, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
I've done some further testing on spirits, and it appears that they are immune to *all* healing. The fact that some skills raise their red bars isn't because those skills specifically mention spirits (and are thus explicitely programmed to heal spirits), but because they cause health gain, not healing.
One piece of evidence is Spirit's Gift, it can heal healthgain spirits. Another is Blood Bond, spirits targeting a hexed foe will gain health. And of course Healing Seed works too, if a spirit happens to sit next to the enchanted. I've already edited those findings on the Spirit page. I am also convinced that a skill's ability to target spirits is simply a flag the developers set on each skill, and not something that follows strict rules. (e.g. Divert Hexes does not heal, but causes health gain. Can't target spirits, though.)
The realization that spirits are simply immune to healing may turn a few other anomalies into regular notes, for example on Heal Area. Tub 00:13, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for following up. Your analysis seems a more likely explanation of the overall behavior than what was on the Spirits page before. (It also seems consistent with how ANet generally is inconsistent in flagging skills.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:05, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
