Defeating?[edit]
What would be a good anti-spirit spammer set up for a dervish? banishing strike? or maybe some signets like...unnatural signet? i think... 68.104.205.160 20:40, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

- I recommend doing this with minions, well that was how i did it :D. I was E/N I took animate flesh golem and animate bone minions and some AOE to damage him and kill his spirits. The minions refent the boss from walking so the AOE kills all the spirits and does damage to the boss. Good luck with defeating the boss and i hope this helps you. Ok heres a dervish build:(you don't really need any derv skills and works for any1 with ritualist as primary or secondary)
Ursan Blessing, Pain, Vampirism, Union, Shadowsong, Dissonance, Gaze of Fury, Brutal Weapon
What you do is lay down all the spirits in that order, walk up to him so he uses bloodsong. Use Gaze of Fury on bloodsong then cast Brutal Weapon on yourself so you do extra damage. Then go into ursan and use ursan strike, rage, and roar as soon as they get the chance.
Also you need to make sure that the spirits are close enough to attack him This quest is easier the higher ursan rank you have I did it with rank 8 and killed him in like 15 seconds. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.160.192.57 (talk) at 10:19, 10 April 2008 (UTC).
How about a good Build for a Monk? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.174.134.15 (talk) at 18:39, 5 July 2008 (UTC).
If you've got the energy for it, just go necro secondary and use animate bone minons to all the bone minions before he starts making spirits. He won't be able to move so there'll only be one spirit at a time. Keep Spaming Blood of the master, and maybe put things like barbs on him and some self heal. I used Life transfer so i didn't die when i kept spamming Blood of the Master and provided a decent degen on him. If you've got the energy for it, use necrosis too, but as long as your able to keep urself and the minioins alive he'll go down eventually. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 125.237.12.178 (talk) at 13:05, 15 September 2008 (UTC).

- Attributes 12 inspiration... 12 illusion
- "you move like a dwarf"
- Elite... Crippling Anguish
- Conjure Nightmare
- Ether Signet
- Ether feast
Tactics.... Use "you move like a dwarf" and crippling anguish one after the other to stop the griffin's movement... Don't let him near you... keep away from his spirits!!! - What I want to know is if it can drop tomes. Surely someone knows by now... Iskander Rith 00:33, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- It definitely drops some boss only drops but it usually drops nothing at all. I suspect some anti-farming code that either reduces drops on first creature killed or creatures killed within a certain amount of time since zoning in is drastically reducing all drops from this boss. I farmed it for hours and not only got no tomes I got far fewer drops of any kind than would the case for making that many kills in almost any other way. It will probably drop a tome...eventually. But I wouldn't be surprised if even rit boss farming in a whole group elsewhere might be faster. The drop rate is probably 1/8th overall of what I'd ordinarily expect from hard mode boss kills.Driftwood (talk) 21:25, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Mesmer / Elementalist Solution[edit]
Ok, so I just defeated the Griffin with this build. It took me about 12-15 attempts to perfect the build. But once I had the system down, it worked flawlessly.
Here is the build code: OQZEAYoCOK52sLaA+BgCgMkEoCA
- Visions of Regret
- Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support
- Shrinking Armor
- Conjure Phantasm
- Ether Feast
- Glyph of Lesser Energy
- Physical Resistance
- Energy Burn (Optional)
- Domination: 8 + 3
- Fast Cast: 8 + 2
- Illusion: 10
- Inspiration: 10
Here's how it works... You'll have abot 10 seconds of prep time before he starts his regiment of skills. So during this time cast: 1.) Physical Resistance 2.) Glyph of Lesser Energy 3.) Wait for him to be targetable...
Then follow this sequence for attacks:
- Visions of Regret
- Ebon Vangaurd Assassin Support
- Shrinking Armor
- Conjure Phantasm
- Ether Feast
- RUN AWAY!!!
What this sequence should have done is put on two degens and Visions will put on about 80 damage every time he activates a skill. This is sort of a backfire replacement because RIT skill are not spells. The Ebon Vangaurd assasin just buys you time. He'll take the brunt of the attack, so the griffin won't get to you right away. You're last skill should be Ether Feast to make up for the barrage of spirit attacks that you've taken so far. At this point your assasin is dead and the griffin is coming right for you... so RUN!!!
It should be too hard to escape him because of the assassin delay. Run to an isolated spot and re-cast:
- Physical Resistance
- Glyph of Lesser Energy
This ensures the next time you run it, you'll take less damage because of physical attacks AND the first two skills during the attack sequence will be a free energy cost!! If you don't run the glyph you'll run out of energy and won't get enough degen working.
Repeat this sequence over and over, and it should take about 6 - 10 passes! The Ebon Vangaurd Assassin skill takes the longest to re-charge, but since it's your second skill you can start running back towards the griffin and time it just right so that it re-charges seconds before you need it.
Good Luck to everyone!
- Terrell Edenost
How to defeat it.[edit]
Ok, here's how to defeat it:
Take a longbow with you (dmg and such doesn't matter, although a poisonous bow grip may come handy). - I found taking a flatbow worked better since it had a slightly greater range than the longbow.
Take these 2 skills with you:
You can replace Poison Tip Signet by Apply Poison if needed.
This is how you kill it:
- Use Poison Tip Signet
- Shoot burning arrow at the griffon until you hit.
- Run back and wait about 10 seconds.
- Now do this over and over again until he is dead.
It may take a while, but I think it works. I use Poison Arrow to kill him, that takes a long time, but it works too.
I hope this can help you out! --Sander 13:38, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'd also recommend bringing Favorable Winds for some extra damage and to make sure your arrows hit. I used Toxicity to help with the degen, but thats probably unnecessary because he'll be burning half the time. 70.88.161.146 13:46, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- No, that isn't a bad idea. He'll be poisoned for a far longer time than he'll be burning. And the Favorable Winds is also very useful since he won't dodge your arrows as much anymore. Nice suggestion!--Sander 15:53, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- I just finished the quest, and people told me it was nigh impossible to beat it with a Sin. But I found out Perma Shadow Form is effective against him as long as you bring Mark of Rodgort and other AOE skills. It takes a few minutes, but it's a constant burn and his regen can't keep up with it.--Phraedon 12:23, 01 October 2008 (UTC)
*/Rt[edit]
Ok people I just did the quest he isn't that hard to defeat. here are the skills you should use:(this build works for anyone with rit as a prof)
- Ursan Blessing (the higher rank the easier)
- Pain
- Vampirism
- Union
- Shadowsong
- Dissonance
- Brutal Weapon
- Gaze of Fury
So just put down the spirits in that order and make sure that they're close enough to attack him. Put on brutal weapon and go up to him. Use gaze of fury to destroyer bloodsong. Then go into ursan and use all skills as soon as they recharge(don't really need ursan force tho does nothing). If you need help you can whisper my charcter: Yeah Get A Life
- Took me about 6 tries to get the distance, timing, and luck right but I owned it... in Hard Mode that is. prism2525 13:39, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- cool well i might have just been lucky cuz i killed it the first time i tried that build and had high rank ursan so only took about 15 seconds
- Worked like a charm first try. Oghjwggr4S+gfTPOnNZOqTGbGlA for E/Rt. Mirar 07:27, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Excuse me? Shouldnt this be excluding warriors? I mean the rt skills themselves add up to 90 energy for crying out loud 90.199.20.147 09:22, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Another setup I haven't seen yet...
"You Move Like a Dwarf!" can be used to help get distance, but I only found myself using the above skills even, forgetting all about YMLaD! Just keep running around, using Gaze or Consume on his Dissonance, followed by Bloodsong. Essence Strike for free dmg and a little energy. Even without knockdowns, this made it easy as pie. As note, I did this as A/Rt (12 Channeling is all you need). Charmuska 03:06, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Signet of Spirits variant of the above[edit]
As a Monk/Rit, I used this build successfully today: OwgiAyiM5D+NVOl50JeNVNZsBA
It's just as one would expect: begun putting up the spirits before the griffin arrives, painful bond him the moment he turns red, and gaze of fury his first spirit. Subsequently alternate among the last three skills to finish him off. I tried a few others from this page first, and came close with the Ursan... but couldn't quite kill him to completion (Norn title isn't maxed yet). This, however, should work for any caster. Aliana Stoneskye 19:30, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
THIS WORKS PERFECTLY E/A[edit]
use the templete code OgdTkY28ZCZgHKXkHR6Tn5riWAA
when shadow form is about to end, run away for a sec and cast it again. Thank Lint The Exiled :P
I did it with Ele/A with this build : OgdUgqly0vSYVRD4OBMNQuM7iwiA
chilling winds - mind freeze - death's charge - viper's defense - dark escape - shadow refuge - Ebon Vangaard assassin - summon mursaat
water magic=14 , NRG storage=11 , shadow arts=10 , air magic=5
cast mursaat then assassin on griffon...winds & freeze him then charge & viper's defense and go away from sprit's range, eventually regen with refuge, then repeat operation when skills are ready
it worked fine in about 2 minutes ;)
Elementalist/Warrior?[edit]
Would this work?
- Mind Freeze
- Meteor
- Brawling Headbutt
- Glyph of Immolation
- Mark of Rodgort
- Meteor Shower
- Hammer Bash
- Flare
I was thinking of:
- Cast Mind Freeze
- Cast Meteor Shower
- Use Brawling Headbutt
- Use Hammer Bash
Also:
- Spam Glyph of Immolation and Flare to maintain burning
- Spam Mind Freeze and then the Knock Down attacks/spells

Warriors?[edit]
Ima warrior and i have no idea how 2 kill this thing. any help would b appreciated...JORLZ36181 22:51, 27 May 2008 (UTC) I am warrior as well and I had trouble shooting the Griffon with a bow with precise timming that made contact, I think rangers have an Inate ability which makes them better at hitting moving foes. So, to the Burning Arrow + Poison Tip Signet build I also added Read the Wind which just so happened to make it where I could hit the Griffon on the move. Thought this may be a great tip for other non-primary ranger players out there. {User Kentrum Kleaver}
- I did the quest with the Burning Arrow build mentioned above. You can also view a more detailed build of it here--Sander 14:39, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Ok I just beat it with my warrior and this is what i used: Consume Soul, endure pain, feel no pain, bonettis defense, deadly riposte, riposte, summon ruby djinn, and lions comfort. My stats were: Sword 10, Strength 10, Tactics 11. And yes I was runed with a sup and plus 30 mods on both my sword and shield. Energy was at 25. Hope that helps. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:207.191.217.213 (talk).
As a warrior i have used several build, but with every build i had problems. some time i ran out of energy or while othertimes after long battle i've failed. but then I used a build and with that i killed griffon without a sweat. it is W/N and it can also work with any other profession as long as the secondary is necro. skills are Animate Bones Minions and Ursan Blessing. equip a staff that gives you 15 energy (assuming you starting with 20 energy). as soon as you enter, make as many minions as you can, i manage to make 6 by the time battle started. before griffon start fighting just stand few feets front of him so as the battle starts all the minions circle him, in this way he wont be ablt to move. while the minions surround him, he wont be able to attack any of you, turn in ursan mode and give him everything you got. don't worry he wont even scratch you and minions will live long enough for you to easily kill him. higher the rank in ursan faster he dies. i used 12 death atb points. (Dmitri Anzel)
7 August 2008 Sweet W/N build... OQQTU4YSTCxi8xvAwgv6qwosKAA Barbarous slice, Standing Slash, Sever Artery, Gash, Flail, "For Great Justice", Ursan Blessing, Animate Bone Minions... As stated above use a 15+ energy staff as soon as you spawn start spawning minions move a bit closer while it recharges... you should be able to cast 3 times before Griffon is ready to attack. The minions should surround the Griffon... Switch to your sword and shield use "For Great Justice" and Flail (asap) then start spamming your attacks. 12 Death Magic, 9 Strength, 9 Swordmanship (Mrs. Elizabeth Anne E. aka. Ms Anne) Note: Barbous Slice can be exchanged for "Elite" Dragon Slash and Ursan Blessing for Sprint (to be used to break out of stance to escape his spirits).
10 August, Just did it, W/N, with +15 enrgy staff as noted above (change back to sword of course after you spawn minions 3 times), BUT you dont even need ursan blessing. I had animate bone minions, for great justice, ear bite, gash, brawling headbutt, flail, endure pain, lions comfort. didnt even end up using endure pain or lions comfort and no elite skill equipped either.
Kids It's all about Mending Justgetmein
Interesting tactic[edit]
My brother tried something interesting. He used the various corpses that are there upon starting as fuel for Bone Minions. He then spammed Blood of the Master until his health was critically low, then clobbered this mofo with Grenth's Balance. Rinse, repeat. PS: Remembering to sign is your FRIEND! Dervish/Mesmer hit and run technique[edit]
That worked for my Derv: 1) Avatar of Balthazar (D) for armor, speed and less frequent interrupt from spirits. 2) Eternal aura (Sunspear) to constantly keep up Balthazar. 3) Feel no pain (Norn rank) for quick regeneration (or simillar skill) (not really needed but saves time). 4) Conjure nightmare (Me) and 5) Conjure phantasm (Me) for strong degeneration. The rest is up to you, but imho other skills will probably be a waste of energy. Don't even bother with the spirits, they won't do much damage with your Balthazar active. Just throw the nightmare on the griffin (or phantasm if you are interrupted, or both if lucky) and immediately run up the hill so he will not chase you (run further if he does). Keep him under pressure until victory. I used some staff for +10 energy. Mysticism and Illusion magic at 12. (Fathi)
- Sorry i have no idea how to sign or anything, but I used this as my guide to degen him. My build was as follows:
1. Conjure Nightmare (DEGEN) 2. Conjure Phantasm (DEGEN) 3. Enchanted Haste (RUN) 4. Mirage Cloak (Make spirits miss) 5. Mystic Regen (...regen) 6. Eternal Aura 7. Faithful intervention (as insurance to not die)
Load --> cast 6 &7 since they are perm. When griffon spawns, hit him with 1 and run with 3 Come back in and keep using 1 and 2 and then running Since his spirits wil be up, use 4 to make em miss while u go in to cast degen use 5 to regen HP if low
GOOD LUCK! (:
I took screen shot but no idea how to upload it on here XD --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.246.213.152 (talk) at 02:19, 30 March 2011 (UTC).

A way to beat it[edit]
A/E 16 shadow arts 3 deady arts 12 earth r7 sunspear
I tried this about 5 times and it worked, it takes 55+ energy and a little bit of time but you can defeat it within 10 mins. If your wondering about sliver armor hitting the spirits, dont, for some reason (for me atleast) it only hits the griffon. the 2 empty spots on the skill bar can be replaced with "You Move Like A Dwarf" or PBAOEs (not required)

Warrior[edit]
Ok, I've found a way to defeat this beast as warrior:
Strength: 12 (+Runes),Hammer Mastery: 12 (+Runes)
Norn rank: 6, Deldrimor rank: 5, Ebon Vanguard rank: 3
- Devastating Hammer
- Brawling Headbutt
- Lions Comfort
- "I Am The Strongest!"
- Signet of Aggression
- "For Great Justice!"
- Endure Pain
- Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support
Template Code: OQkSE1JTjFni/VzkwbXFbF7i
Immediately use "I Am The Strongest!" and Signet of Aggression until Devastating Hammer is full. Then interrupt with Devastating Hammer and Brawling Headbutt everthing, don't let him summon any spirits! Try to have always "I Am The Strongest!" on you and to get adrenalin use the Signet of Aggression and/or Lions Comfort. "For Great Justice!" can be helpfull, too. E/N or */N with Ebon Vanguard Skills[edit]
This one just worked for me, after a lot of toying around with both suggested and improvised skill sets:
Grenth's Balance | Liquid Flame | Meteor | Lava Font | Radiation Field | Ebon Vanguard Sniper Support | Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support | Flame Djinn's Haste |
- Where Flame Djinn's Haste can be replaced by any speed-buff, the Lave Font is merely to increase damage in Radiation Field area and Meteor and Liquid Flame are mostly for removing ill-placed spirits.
- Keep sniper support up, with alternately assassin support and flame djinn's haste to allow you to escape. Where possible, try to lure the Griffon into the radiation field when it ends, adding poison to the bleeding.
- If you get seriously injured, use Grenth's Balance to restack the odds a bit in your favor.
- Should be possible to keep bleeding up almost indefinitely by using sniper support, but depending on spirit placement you might be forced to wait a bit, or kill them, allowing the Griffon to recuperate a bit. Which might be undone by using Grenth's Balance another time.

Sniping[edit]
Sorry if someone else has said this before, but could you not just bring along any old damage bar + ebon vanguard sniper support on a decent EV rank and try the quest a few times until it does the 800 or so damage and then hammer him with your normal damage build, im not sure what his armour is, or how much health exactly he has, my only char with sniper support has already killed him without it, so if anyone else hasnt got him yet give sniper a try and tell us what happens please. Code for build used: OwBi0xjK9woLS8dw0wUDOAdmBA
- Unsuspecting Strike
- Ebon Vanguard Sniper Support
- Golden Fang Strike
- Death Blossom
- Moebius Strike
- Critical Agility
- Critical Defenses
- Assassin's Remedy
- Dagger Mastery 12 + 1 + 1
- Critical Strikes 10 + 1
Sequence: Run next to where he will spawn and wait for him to spawn. As SOON as his name comes up, cast both Critical Agility and Critical Defenses. Then run in with an Unsuspecting Strike for it's bonus then cast Ebon Vanguard Support. If it doesn't hit for big keep going. Follow through with Golden Fang Strike to get your Deep Wound bonus then spam Death Blossom and Moebius Strike. When he gets Shadowsong up, cast Assassin's Remedy. Re-cast once it fades or risk being blinded. Spam DB + MS and follow through with a Second Ebon Vanguard Sniper Support. It's all about just hitting once. If you could hit twice with the big damage from EVSS then that'd be GREAT. But I've never had such luck... But it's all a matter of killing him before you die since you lack healing. Also, Zealous weapons help immensely for energy management alongside Critical Strikes.
i have tryed killing him but the spirits or some thing keeps killing me... should i kill spirits then griffin or get griffin away from spirits then kill him???? Colon 20:14, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
I just went in for the straight sweep make sure you have ebon vanguard sniper support and try to get it to activate once or twice but just keep trying. But yeah pretty much ignore the spirits they just waste your time and by the time they're gone they'll be up again.

Winning with Warrior as primary prof[edit]
Buy the best energy mods for your armour... if you don't know what ones use these: Chest: Radiant insignia, Legs: Radiant Insignia, and for the rest use the +2 mod.
By this time you should have around 30 energy. Bring the skills...
1.Summon Bone Minions/AotL 2.Summon Ebon Vanguard 3.Power Attack 4.Ear Bite 5.Brawling Headbutt 6.Blood of the Master 7+8 are optional
With this you should get 4 minions up at the begginning and the sin as a extra body block. You should focus on keeping your minions alive because without them your doomed. Use the spare energy to power attack him or summon another asssassin.
Death Magic- 6 and the rest is optional. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Darkness Prevails (talk).
