Talk:Guide to Drok's run
I was going to link to the running builds category on pvx, but I don't know about the license issues. Are we allowed to do that or not? —Ebany Salmonderiel 20:42, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

- Not really, PvX is linked in a few articles. We just avoid linking to Gwiki, so we don't start doing that instead of adding our own content :P - anja 20:52, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Are specific build guides even necessary? I've sat in Beacons for hours at a time watching the people who run it. And though a whopping majority of them are D/A's, I see many other varieties too. I also see a huge demand for it STILL despite the fact that it's no longer the quickest way to get Max Armor. What this tells me is that this Section could definitely stand to be expanded, but at the same time limited to focusing on "Counters". On the run, there's really only 4 or 5 big snags that have to be countered (Slow Hexes, Knockdowns, High damage Projectiles from Avicara/Giants, Smites from Shadows, Enchant Stripping, and High Energy demands). Pointing when those hazards are encountered and linking to counters to them(by category) would actually be better than giving everyone cookie cutter builds. Everything else is just practice, memorization, and self-help Build tweaking. --ilr (3/16/08)

HARD MODE!?![edit]
I just found this. Anyone think this is somehow faked? If not this guy has some real skills. http://youtube.com/watch?v=VadH4xXlYUk --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.183.240.241 (talk) at 05:48, 13 January 2008 (UTC).

Strike for runner's rights[edit]
I'm kinda ticked off... these runs are my main source of income, yet people always want free runs. I'm trying to start a strike for runners, no more runs through ANYTHING until people give us what we deserve. --Sir Chester The Guy --71.70.200.231 01:24, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Just to add, this should be like a 3-5k run... People just don't pay as much, so we don't get as much, and it really bites.
This used to be a high class run, but people are stingier now or something...--71.70.200.231 01:49, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Me again. I know, I'm forgetful, can't put everything in one post. The REASON I want to strike is because I feel cheated. Not just the money, but my TIME. I see people who will test run to droks and die a ton but ppl still go with them rather than spend a little money. I feel like I'm being cheated out of my time because it's barely worth it anymore and the gratitude is so low. I'm not satisfied with what is happening. And yet, people expect free runs, the ability to keep survivor, to go afk, and even though prices are low, people SCAM. For a 2k run, why scam? I'm just mad right now.--71.70.200.231 01:49, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- I totally agree --Link Da Dervish-- and i created a guild for this matter, it's called Runners on Strike. If you would like to enter, and we will work togethor on not running droks until our demands are taken seriously. - It used to be a high class run before Nightfall came along and made this run very easy. Some eotn skills also make this run easy. --Boogy (Talk/Contributions) 18:29, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Btw why all the hyperlinks? Ctrl and k sticking? I may be wrong, but I think everyone here knows what very means... --71.70.200.231 01:21, 1 August 2008 (UTC) DDoh, sorry, just realized what they linked to, I'm such an idiot.--71.70.200.231 01:22, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
You know what? (Yes, we do.) Well, I'll tell you anyway. This run is going to keep going down until nobody runs it, and then 1 of 2 things will happen: noobs will run it for 300g or the prices will go up. I prefer the latter, but I think it's less likely. If EVERY runner charged 4k spontaneously, then people will have no choice but to go with the flow and pay a little more. No big deal to them, but we get paid double. I just need a way to send this message to EVERY SINGLE [DROKS] RUNNER in the GW world. Hmm... a small flaw. I'll work it out. --71.70.200.231 01:31, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- No big deal? Think about the people that are just starting or don't spend their free time farming and want to get to droks. I know people that have been playing for awhile and don't even have 4k. 4k might not seem like a lot to you, but to other people it is just too much. Diokana 22:57, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- The point about capitalism is competition. If you can't compete then get out of the market. This is how the in-game economy works. What you are suggesting is basically a monopoly on this run where you get to dictate the price. It will never happen, so I would suggest you look to make money elsewhere. --Lemming 23:00, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
The thing is, this isnt about capitalism or competition. Its about respect. Before Nightfall came out (and to a lesser extent, Factions), people asking for Droks runs were respectful and didn't try to scam runners and paid like 10-15k for a run, because the runners were dedicated and friendly. They were also rare, because then it actually took skill to run, because of random and unpredictable knock downs from Wurms, a small selection of running skills and very little choice. When Nightfall was released, it became insanely easier to run and suddenly there was a massive influx of runners who had better builds, but worse skills. Good runners were forced out the market by crap runners who charged like 500g and failed miserably. There was no respect for runners anymore. People just wanted cheap/free, even if the runners suck or fail, and when the runners get 60% DP and quit, then the idiots who want a run started spamming everyone and saying the runners suck and etc and generally QQing when it was their own fault for being too stingy to get a good runner.
Generally this made everyone disrespect runners and try to scam "good" runners because they thought "well, since these shitty runners have waste an hour of my time, I might as well waste an hour of this guy's time and not pay him anything" and so no-one who is skilled at running (quick, survivor friendly etc) gets respected. Nerf running skills and this is problem solved (too bad that would also be bad for economy, back to 20k runs). Thats why Nightfall ruined this run Crimmastermind 09:55, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Did a run recently for 5k, just to see if people would go. I got a full party in around 2 minutes. Now, that's how it was before NF and Factions, and hopefully the price will go up again now that perma is nerfed. -- 01:51, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- I've always done free runs...never seen it as a way to make money as opposed to doing CoF or UWSC, and prices have remained at a steady 2k for some time now.--Kage No ShiFollow the rabbit if you dare... 00:02, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Price Increase[edit]
I think now that perma is nerfed, runners can start increasing the price on this run again. There aren't anywhere near as many runners anymore, and most people who do run are noobs who can't actually make it. Plus, if you start charging 3-4k per run, it tells the runnees that this is probably a pro that is guarrenteed to get them through with 1 death MAX. To prove such a phenomenon, I've started charging people anywhere from 2.5-3k and most of them are grateful for such great runs. Blood Red Giant 09:56, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Funny. I charged 3k once and instantly got spammed by noobs accusing me of "scamming". Some people don't know how to do anything but QQ. Invincible Rogue 21:56, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Droks runs are always gonna be around, so the price doesnt matter as long as its at least 2k. I mean either these low levels want max armor, or somebody from Factions or Nightfall wants to skip 80% of the game, either way its always gonna be popular. Just make sure they pay around 2/3 of the pay at camp raknor, cuz if its a low lvl trying to scam u know they will never make it to droks xD --Crazyejackson715 22:10, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
Redundant or now false[edit]
Some of the article is now false, Droknar's run is honestly not the most popular anymore, and surely paragons run this more often than primary monks?
"is arguably the most well-known and popular run in the game" "ran by more skilled players on ranger and monk"

Map?[edit]
Is there a map of this run? And if so can someone post it on the wikipage? (I think it would be rather large) Also, most runs don't have a map. Does this mean there's some kind of policy on not putting maps of runs on wiki? If so, disregard this...--Daisya 06:08, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- Theres no policy against it, but people cant be bothered to run all that way for the sake of a map :P --Neil2250 20:05, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Article should be named better anyway...

Prices 2011[edit]
I run Drok;s now for about 2 weeks and i normally ask 3-4k. But the last few days I have been accused of scamming. I also have to say that free runners ar realy ruining it for runners who ask money for it. (no offense, I'm new to running as I said)Elonwolf 20:48, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- Ask whatever the market will bear. People can finish the desert missions if they don't want to pay. It's only a scam if you offer something and don't deliver.
- By the same token, you can't really begrudge others for offering the service for free. Maybe they like giving back, maybe they want the practice.
- As an advertising trick, you could offer a sliding scale for the run, e.g. 8k for one person, 4k/p for 2-3 ppl, and 2k ea for 5+. That provides an incentive to your customers to help find more customers and is win-win: you get more gold, each individual pays less. Good luck. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:02, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- Normal droks run is 2-3k (although me and a few friends sometimes charge 4-5k just for the fun of it). As with tip/free runners, you can't do anything about them unless you run for free as well (I usually run for tips/free, especially if im super bored) Demonic Sin Ex 03:11, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
