Question:[edit]
This question is too generalized to put on a specific year but, Why don't they decorate and celebrate this in Cantha, ever? When it comes to a fun holiday I'm sure we can forego lore (what little there is) to have an extra decorated town or two.-- anguard 16:30, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- I guess it was originally to give factions its own holiday identity. Cantha had the dragon festival and canthan new years, Tyria had halloween and wintersday. When they added Nightfall, rather than add two new unique festivals, they just copied the existing ones from Tyria.--Pyron Sy 16:39, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Feh. I think they should go all out with Halloween and "wintersday" and decorate some of all campaigns including EotN and Factions.-- anguard 16:41, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Elona, and Tyria are on the same continent, while Cantha is on another faraway continent due south, maybe that's the reason behind it.

Halloween Guild Halls[edit]
I believe that there should be Guild Hall updates during Halloween that change the appearance of the hall to a more Halloween-vibe, so that members of guilds may celebrate from their halls, in Guild Parties, etc. Kalizar of the Demagon 00:57, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Crisis In Cantha[edit]
If the Mad King decides to pay a visit while "The lands of Cantha do not celebrate this festival." Anyone?--Mark, het Beest 11:29, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- You're saying that if the Mad King shows up on Cantha, that will spark a Crisis in Cantha as part of Guild Wars Beyond?
The Days of Gaile Gray[edit]
I wonder ... will a community manager ever show up at Halloween/Wintersday like Gaile does in the 2006 videos? Would be pretty amazing to have that kind of activity nowadays, :-)
Who else agrees? Donutdude 12:33, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Previously held[edit]
Why is Halloween 2010 (THIS year) in the "previously held" section? 69.177.225.92 04:25, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
The Waiting Game[edit]
The quest The Waiting Game is available this year (2010) also. Should it not also be under the 2010 quests heading? Radthor Dax 21:06, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- All of the 09 quests are available. However, it would seem that outside the Waiting Game and Every Bit Helps, they are only available once no matter the year it is taken - as I cannot get any other quest. -- Konig/talk 21:58, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
ALL the Festival quests gone from Log!; why different than 2009?[edit]
Brief background, update from support, and what next?
- Background - While most are expected to be done during the event, The Waiting Game was introduced last year and was available since then to complete & redeem as the NPC who is required ( King Frozenwind ) is available all-year round since existing NPC for other Underworld quest. There is nothing special about him like the Mad king who is only available during special seasonal events. So like previously, I worked hard to get several characters advanced to Lion's Arch & Temple of Age and then through the quest chain in series to that point just so could save its completion (which is long/difficult doing all the Elite area quests) later with guildees as had done on my primary character before. However I was SHOCKED (& from Forum posts, others where too!) when ALL the Festival quests were removed on Nov 2nd. This new behavior was not announced or explained in any of the updates.
- Support's reply : So I opened a ticket with them not sure if accident/bug only to get the following response form GM Lemoncorba "I looked in to the issue and have determined that it is not a bug, and that the game is working as designed. Former years' Halloween quests are now designed to be repeatable each year. This means that, by design, they will be removed from the individual player's quest log as soon as the festival ends making them like the other event quests." Then when I tried to explain that The Waiting Game was different and anyway to investigate at least a restore of it, I got "There are no plans to revert any of the Halloween quests to their past status." & "the support system is not an official venue to share your thoughts and ideas with the Development Team. Due to legal reasons, we are only able to officially accept suggestions about these changes through the Guild Wars Wiki"
- Now what?
I am posting this open question to the community and hoping that not only will not get erased but maybe someone from the Development team will see. Thanks! 05:37, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Post-finale hats[edit]
another Question is there a post-event collector that you can obtain hats from after the final visit of the mad king? 20:32.31 18/10/2011 --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.216.30.126 (talk • contribs) at 0:34, 17 October 2011 (UTC).
- I don't remember anyone offering a post-final halloween hat last year. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:49, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
- Only Wintersday and Dragon Festival have such... for some reason. Konig/talk 23:19, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
- We actually have been actively talking about that situation this week, particularly in light of major storms, power outages, and players being unable to obtain the hat on the day of Mad King Thorn's visit. You can find some good news about this subject in [this post] on the Guild Wars Support Forums. -- Gaile 22:18, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
- And what about previews years? i could NOT get my Wicked Hat! *Cry and beg* 66.50.153.23 23:00, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Halloween 2012[edit]
I am curious if Anet has made a decision on what they plan to give us this Halloween yet? If any devs or high level Gods read this, a few of us new people would really like a shot at some of the older stuff. ;D I have talked to others who would like a repeat of the scarecrow mask and charr mask. I know there is some players who already have these but since I only started playing last year I sure wouldn't mind and at least two other newbies who joined up in the last six months have expressed the same opinion. --Wendy Black 21:09, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Most likely going to be similar to how the previous years' festival hats were given in Dragon Festival 2012. --Silver Edge 22:22, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, one of my characters got the Demon Mask from the Dragon Festival this year. It was originally a 2007 but the Scarecrow and Charr Hat were only offered at the Mad King Thorn Halloween events. But would also be nice to buy all the masks as a DLC promo pack for $10 if they would go that route. :D I don't know if that would bruise anyone's ego who got the mask by actual participation. --Wendy Black 23:23, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Halloween 2013[edit]
So, Halloween is coming soon(ish). Who'll be coming back from Guild Wars 2 to revel in the antics of the original Mad King Thorn? I know I will be! I cannot wait for it, I'm totally stoked! DonutxDude (talk) 19:57, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
- I'm sure a lot of people will. :) -- Lacky 07:28, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
2014 no bonus for finale?[edit]
Having survived the mad king's visit, the hex remains on the character and does not reward bags... 76.253.2.43 07:42, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

Halloween 2015[edit]
end time (for the quests, scared psyche, etc) was not at 8:00 UTC but 20:00 UTC (or noon Pacific time USA). So the log in information was not correct about the end time. Don't know if this is how things are going to happen from now on, or just because of the time change in the USA this year on the 1st. Cosyfiep (talk) 05:18, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
and here it is on the 14th..the transformed upc's are still there and the mad kings guards. ???Cosyfiep (talk) 07:53, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
Ferrying the Mad King's Guards[edit]
In America 1 district in Kamadan some Halloween NPCs, in particular, 4 Mad King's Guards, some Transformed Elonians and 3 collectors (Horseman Aramon, Horseman Garthim, Horseman Naramor) remain at least until today (14 November 2018). They don't normally exist in any other district. I used this to check the travelling with the Guards to other districts, as mentioned in the Anomaly note.
Indeed, the Guards who were added to the party, will move with the party leader to another district in Kamadan, e.g. to Europe English 1, appear on the ground and remain there until any player character exists in this district. If we are the only person in the district and it should become empty of players after we leave it, then these henchmen disappear. We can "ferry" this way up to 3 Guards, but other players can do it too. If the chosen Guards were the same, the total amount of ferried henchmen will not change. However, if the different players added different Guards, like first two and last two, they will be ferried independently, so the maximum amount of these NPCs will be 4 as in the original America 1 district.
I hope this explains the ferry mechanic more clearly. --109.252.109.9 09:27, 14 November 2018 (UTC)
End time of event drops[edit]
Do the ToT-bag drops continue until the last NPC's leave or is this another case of event continuation like in 2014? At least I'm still getting ToT-bags and I've zoned pretty recently aswell. Jeree95 (talk) 12:08, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
On a closer look the event is actually continuing like in 2014, can't remember if it's done that every year. Let's see how long it lives on. Jeree95 (talk) 12:19, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
Nvm, there's already a bug note of it on the page, I'll remove the trivia note of the same observation (I was only looking at that and didn't realise there was another that went into more detail). Jeree95 (talk) 12:25, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
- 2023 The end time - event drops, quests, scared psyche, etc. occurred at 20:00 UTC (or 1pm PDT Pacific time USA). Tikka LeFem talk (talk) 23:27, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
