Festival Hat/ToTs[edit]
Never tried it before, but what happens if you have full inventory by the time the hats/tots are distributed?, anyone knows?, doesn't say under notes-Wracken 13:43, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- You don't get one. -- Wyn talk 16:14, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, it drops on the ground reserved for your character (for the 10 minutes). -- Konig/talk 19:29, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Actually unless you have tested this, I don't believe you since they are customized and cannot be picked up by anyone else no matter how long they sit there. -- Wyn talk 20:22, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- I have tested this with hats - during Halloween and wintersday. They can be picked up, but not used by other people. It's the same situation as Festival Tickets during rings. They're reserved for 10 minutes then it's a free-for-all-pick-up. For hats, you just cannot wear them. I've actually stolen a hat that way before. ^^-- Konig/talk 20:28, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

number of tots is off[edit]
When I parked my toon in Kamadan and went to bed, I got 20. When I was awake and obeying commands, I got 27. Would have been 29 but he killed me twice even though I begged and jumped when supposed to. Ramei Arashi
- It's 30. When you parked your toon, you probably went through 2 rounds of Thorn - you get 10 if you afk due to Mad King Says. If you don't get picked for RTS (or lose), but do everything else, you get 30. It was perfect for me thus far. While there. -- Konig/talk 19:30, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Actually, the max number possible is higher than 40. The Mad King picked the same person for RPS twice in US Lions Arch District 69 at the 19:00GMT event.
- True, and I've seen someone picked more than once as well, but like I said: "If you don't get picked for RTS (or lose), but do everything else, you get 30." -- Konig/talk 20:12, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Celebrating in two towns?[edit]
The article doesn't specify this but is it possible to participate in the event in both Lion's Arch and Kamadan on the same account? For the hats, obviously. 194.0.167.4 15:32, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
yeah it is - you can go in different times or the same if you're very lucky 86.158.214.212 15:52, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- From my experiences in the past, higher-numbered districts will finish the event later than earlier numbered ones, by just a few seconds (or maybe I'd had a little too much absinthe and imagined it). --ஸ Kyoshi 16:12, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
The Big Bang Theory shoutout[edit]
Subtle differences in Mad King Thorn's dialogue this year, like asking if you would like to play your instruments back in the Lunatic Court his realm FOREVER, and different jokes.
Best of all was the mention of a variation of the rock, paper, scissors using drake and M.O.X. which is most definitely a reference to the rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock game on TBBT. -- Ralmon -- 10:41, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
- Updated the above. Having seen the dialogue again, he refers to his realm, not the Lunatic Court (which was my brain's sad memory translation) -- Ralmon -- 14:07, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
- He refers to both the court and his realm - play for his court in his realm forever. :p I caught all of the LA dialogue before going to sleep, and some Kamadan dialogue; missed the intro to that though. I'll update later, though I'll separate old from what's been replaced now. I know RPS, beg, boo (in Kamadan only), MK Says intro text (and yawn in Kamadan), and music has been altered at least. I'm not sure what else off the top of my head. Konig/talk 18:01, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
What do you get if you win against Mad King in rock paper scissors?[edit]
I've always been wondering this, he's like. "Oh, you won! Here's something special for you.." or whatever. But what does he actually give you? Or is it just tot bags? That would be dissapointing. Then again, he always picks the afk guys. :p --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Lonai (talk).
- In the past years he used to give one, single ToT bag. Since this year anet has changed some things in the finale (like dialogue or mad king's fan) i don't know if this year is the same as previous years --Kyx 21:53, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
2013 notes/changes[edit]
Winning in rock, paper, scissors only gives you one, solitary ToT now (and it was only one Gamer point, too). :( On the other hand, something seemed a bit off about the win rates--it seemed like players were winning more often than they should. I got picked twice, one win and one tie. It might be small sample size. Also, the last-dist-starting-later is still in effect, but the article doesn't mention differences between LA and Kama. Started the hour in LA Int 1, moved to LA last Am at the half-hour point and caught the second half of their finale, AND THEN moved to Kama last Am at the :45 mark and caught the last half of that finale as well. I'm torn between trying for a second full finale each round vs. the two partials. 96.246.211.129 08:12, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- It seems some of his dialogue is different too. He tells a joke that mentions the Ministry of Purity. --Silver Edge 09:19, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- As well as saying, "Farewell, loyal subjects! Here's a little something to remember me by. Something very little!" at the very end. Second finale, there was no delay on the last districts as before. Now I'm confused. 96.246.211.129 10:38, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think these are new to 2013 (except maybe the RPS reward change), but rather last year when they made the automation adjustments, and nobody updated it. I can't verify the RPS reward since I don't remember getting picked or winning last year. 65.87.26.122 17:25, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, the dialogue is probably the same as last year, which hasn't been documented here. --Silver Edge 20:07, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

- Third finale, Kama last Am was on an approx. 15 min delay, didn't check LA. I'm curious how this is determined. 96.246.211.129 13:52, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

I'm also not sure where the "10 ToTs for standing around during Mad King Says" comes from. I've checked several times and MKS starts after exactly 16 ToTs, and there are 7 actions to perform (flex, jump, flex, jump, roar, jump, roar in that order, if I remember correctly) and 7 actions to ignore, regardless of whether you're in LA or Kama. I'll post the full sequence after I've played enough times to memorize it. 96.246.211.129 22:57, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- The "10 ToTs" originated from the #number of tots is off section above. To test the 10 ToTs, I went to Traditional Chinese district 1 and stood there doing nothing. I got 7 ToTs from Mad King Says. I think you would get an additional 3 ToTs (for a total of 10 ToTs) if you were in a district that was active (i.e. no one in the Traditional Chinese district was using emotes based on the chat window) and all four instruments were played (i.e. violin, guitar, flute, and drum). I think the instruments activity was done three times total per event (i.e. 3 ToTs). I tested what happens if I didn't play any instrument in an active district and I got a ToT bag and didn't die, because all four instruments were played by other players in the American district I was in. --Silver Edge 23:19, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- That's the first time I've heard about not needing to play an instrument yourself to get the ToT. Huh. Good to know. 96.246.211.129 23:55, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- The order of emotes should be /goteam, /bow, and THEN /dance. And the full sequence of Mad King Says, for both LA and Kama I believe, is FLEX, yawn, flex, JUMP, FLEX, jump, roar, JUMP, ROAR, yawn, jump, JUMP, roar, ROAR, with caps indicating the real commands. It's NOT random as I first thought. There's also a few seconds right before the command changes when your actions don't count for the current command. Got a little hasty prepping my next answer once. >.> 96.246.211.129 04:57, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
Distribution of the 130 Trick-or-Treat Bags from a perfect finale[edit]
From my experience playing today, if you play a perfect game (without being picked for RPS), then you get 16 ToT Bags before "Mad King Says", and 14 after Mad King Says is complete, plus the bonus 100 for a perfect game. --175.145.235.245 23:23, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
Finale Cheat Sheet[edit]
I am adding this in for people that would like a easy to read cheat sheet for the emotes during the finale in Lions Arch. --Mistress Elemental (talk) 19:46, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
