Looks like Anet are down to thier last ideas for names. they're rolling thier head across the keyboard now. --Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 03:13, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

It's a cipher, actually. Or so Stumme said. Along with something regarding the quest. I am starting the quest now - I'm guessing the seemingly gibberish is a reason for the Words of Madness skill. -- Konig/talk 04:54, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Just clear the adds and leave him till last, actualy quite easy :/ --Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 04:56, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey Konig. Could you please show us where Stumme says that? I'm mighty curious to see. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 07:50, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Can't, sadly. Was via the TK. :/ -- Konig/talk 08:41, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Just checked whether it's Ceaser cipher but it isn't ^^ It was worth a try. 84.142.38.54 14:05, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Kaklyztywq [Kaklyz Tywq] [Kaklyz Qwit] [Kakkles Quit] [Quit Cackles]?
Just a guess, but anyone try reading the letters as one might a license plate? It reads something like "Quite Slick Gag". This would make since in the context of it being a funny creature. A bit of a stretch- any better ideas?--House Asmoadi 14:14, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Anyone else get this text? "Lsf tqqt hsmm Emmmmx jswwemm wwrhmmx hsmm Mmqqtvvpvvg?Ommjwwkkemm hqqimm lwwe vvr hsmm mmeemmgjmm!" That's what he said to me. Looks like it's a joke like the ones the Mad King tells.99.6.219.224 01:31, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
It's deciphered version is on The Killing Joke. -- Konig/talk 02:01, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
If this link is correct, the name means "Flophouses" --MageUser MageMontu sig.pngMontu 09:16, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
LOL mage you forgot to put the name in with the actual text that he says. That applet has thousands of different possible solutions and you didnt give it enough letters to solve the name. To do it using the same cipher, you put the text in that he says and his name and then the applet spazzes out and says that according to that cipher his name is "IAVDQVWUPU". So either his name is under a different cipher or his name is just crap, one or the other. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 11:10, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
I'd be okay with Flophouses. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 11:14, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Does he offer below average accommodation for cheap rates? -- Salome User salome sig2.png 11:27, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
I don;t see what I did wrong actually, why would I need to input all the things he says just to find his name? It's not like the applet plays Guild Wars and knows everything. let's say I have a secret message with only "Qwytzylkak" written on it and nothing else, than what would happen? =P --MageUser MageMontu sig.pngMontu 13:32, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
at that point, u need more data. If i told u to give me a numerical non algebraic value for X then i gave u the equation 5X+4Y=3R+2Z you would only be able to simplify but not solve. u need to wait for more data still
If you reverse it then it translates to cyclotrons with that translator, there has to be another answer... --70.171.187.247 18:54, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Maybe 'is name is a reference to Quetzalcoatl? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quetzalcoatl 84.26.248.87 20:50, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Doubt it, due to the Quetzal being an obviously more direct reference to it. -- Konig/talk 22:43, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
maybe its an obscure reference or maybe... we are making the mistake of thinking this code should be english. Nibelhim 13:05, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Or making the mistake of thinking its code... Qwytzylkak could just very well be his name. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 04:58, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Considering the title of the quest is "The Killing Joke" (possibly comic oriented), the unpronounceable name could be a reference to Superman character Mr. Mxyzptlk.

Killing Joke is also the name of a band. – NuclearDuckie 00:10, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
It's totally a demon of Tzeentch. --99.68.138.129 23:43, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
So true, Chaos has finally leaked in the realm of Tyria. That said the Realm of Torment is pretty much the Realm of Chaos (I always call it that anyway). Tzeentch's IP

Phantom?[edit]

Are we certain its creature type is Phantom? Phantoms are immune to conditions but Qwytzylkak isn't. Not sure if Qwytzylkak leaves an exploitable corpse. --Silver Edge 06:32, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

I think whoever put it up did so due to the model. Just like when Neil added the Phantom image although Qwy is corporeal. -- Konig/talk 06:59, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Eidolon is listed as Phantom, and this seems like a developer copy+pasted the Eidolon's stats, based on the very peculiar armor ratings. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 15:42, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
I'll copy the note about being fleshy from Eidolon then --Silver Edge 21:32, 31 October 2010 (UTC).

Name Meaning[edit]

I'm still curious and confused. What does it's name really mean? I've read on the quest "The Killing Joke"'s site and some suggest that it's inspired by DC commics: the name of the quest is the same as a Batman comic, and the name of the foe is somewhat similar to the villain Mister Mxyzptlk who is appearing in a Superman comic. any thoughts? ^^ 77.213.235.141 17:28, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

See Talk:The Killing Joke#Trivia dispute. I suspect they just created a name that had a lot of letters that go relatively unused in English. (That or someone was trying to get a killer triple-word score in Scrabble and needed to invent a word quickly.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:32, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
I would like to settle with the Scrabble explanation, if we can get someone from the GW team to confirm their interest in board gaming. ;) But I'm still not convinced one way or the other: there is not enough proof to confirm it's a reference, and yet so many small details that seemingly points to it being a reference. To me this is on the boarder of "reference" and "not reference", and that's why I'd like it to be settled. If searching Wikipedia for "Mister Mxyzptlk", you can see near the bottom a list of names given to different creatures in The 5th Dimension of the Superman world. I do not think the GW team would reference Superman/Batman, because I can't recall they've done so before, but Qwytzylkak is very close to these names in my opinion. I will do some personal research however, because this has managed to stick to my brain 77.213.235.141 21:09, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Here's the thing: if you want to make up a truly alien-looking word, you're going to want to include all the oddball letters (Q, w, x, y, z, and maybe a K). Any word you end up with from that starting point is going to look a lot like Mxyzptlk. Q's name has 10 letters vs M's having 8. Q repeats some letters, has a vowel, and has two backward sequences (zy, lk) compared to M's name with no repeats, no vowels, one backward pair (lk) and one forward triplet (xyz). Q's name also has three keyboard pairs (qw, yt, lk - 60%), while M's name has only 1 (lk - 25%). I'm not saying there's no connection at all, but a hamster crossing a keyboard might be as likely to come up with something similar, too. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:20, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
