Not meeting requirements[edit]
One question, if a sword requires, say 9 swordsmanship and you dont have that much, what is the effect? (After all these weapons can still be used!) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:222.152.66.235 (talk).
As far as I know, not meeting the item's requirements will make it half as effective (half damage, half energy, etc). --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.181.83.110 (talk).
Well from what i know it definantly decreases the damage that you do and your attacks are less to be critical. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.172.70.179 (talk).
- It decreases the damage dealt. Calor 23:33, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Sword/Slash[edit]
How come nearly all these attacks are "slashes" (Galrtah Slash, Sun and Moon Slash, Crippling Slash et c.) and there are very few stabbing ones (Final Thrust, maybe)?
- Probably because when fighting with a sword, you get very few opportunities to actually stab your opponent, hypothetically of course, because if you go to stab your enemy with your sword, it lowers your defense from the sword you are wielding, i agree though, Garlath Stab would be awesome, or instead of Gash, call it just "Stab" --PimpC1125 03:21, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- That said, stabbing is more effective than slashing because while you can't block yourself, your attack is harder to block and will do significantly more damage, since a stab is much more likely to hit an important organ and actually kill your foe, rather than slashes which tend to do a lot of superficial damage. So slashing ones dealing bleeding make a lot of sense, but Gash would make a bit more sense as a stab (how about Skewer or Impale (except we already have that) or something?), just as Final Thrust does. I think the problem is more in naming them - "Something Slash" or "Such-and-such chop" generally sounds better than "Something Stab".
- i disagree, I think stab sounds much cooler than slash. that being said, slashing could lead to a severed arm, stabbing can't. Roflmaomgz 05:22, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- But even Final Thrust doesn't have a stab animation, on a male warrior its a spinning slash. The only attack animation of a stab I know of is Sever Artery.
Elites?[edit]
Why is it that Axe has 5 Elites, Hammer has 6, but Sword only has 4 Elites? Shouldn't this be more balenced? It is also the only Warrior Attribute that does not have a Proph only Elite Skill. Should could we have a new boss that has a new Swordmanship Elite that is Proph only? That would be fun! - SabreWolf 03:14, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Frankly, it only NEEDS 4. The 4 elite skills are great and viable for whatever situation.-- anguard 03:26, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Imo, one of the best sword skills (Final Thrust) isn't an elite, and you pick it up fairly early in Prophecies; I've never needed one. - Vik 02:49, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Probably because Swords were intended as the Warrior's 'versatile' weapon (with Axe being for damage, and Hammer for knockdowns). So due to this, originally (before Factions) it was expected in most cases that a Sword Warrior would be using an Elite from either another profession (like the original Warrior PvP character template, which believe it or not was considered overpowered by many at one point lol), or one of the Warrior's secondary lines (see the Sword-related skills in Tactics). Afterall, originally even Hundred Blades wasn't going to be an elite skill, which would have meant there would have been zero Sword elites before Factions. Back then an IaS wasn't even required on a Warrior's bar, seems Frenzy was considered very bad at the time and Flurry reduced damage and they were the only options, so a Sword Warrior could still spike through Sever Artery->Gash->Final Thrust, and have plenty of bar space left for more utility to go along with the elite from another secondary.82.11.226.30 13:19, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
