Talk:Volfen Blessing
Misc[edit]
Nice catch Santax. May I ask you the uncompressed size of the file where you found that? Chriskang 09:26, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- 55696. It also contains the names and descriptions (not energy, cast time, icon, recharge etc. though) of the Volfen skills and some of the Polymock skills, making this skill sort of a cross between the avatar skills and the Junundu disguise. I'm hesitant to add the type as "Form" though, since the forms don't normally give you skills. We'll have to wait and see. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything on the Ursan (which I presume to be bear) and Raven blessings. I also haven't seen anything about any sort of owl blessing yet. --Santax (talk · contribs) 11:28, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Looking at the icons, I found 8 images that represent fighting bears, 8 others with wolves and 8 with owls. All of them had the same background color as junundu skills. I suppose they're the ones you get when you use a blessing (though raven & owl doesn't correspond exactly). Chriskang 12:02, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Is it possible to find the data for energy, recharge, adrenaline, exhaustion, sacrifice and cast times in Gw.dat? If so, we can get pages on these going... we have the descriptions and you have the icons already. Also, have you seen the icon with what looks like an Asura being strangled, in the Deldrimor colours? I wonder what that's all about :P --Santax (talk · contribs) 12:06, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Those informations are typically encoded inside the FFNA-files, meaning if you don't know where to search you have no chance to find them. I have very few hope that we can find them inside gw.dat before the preview week-end. And for the icons, I second your remarks. For each title track (asuran, norn, ebon & dwarf) there are more icons than the 12 or 14 listed here. Don't know if those are unused or if there will finally be more than 50 pve-skills. Wonder how well this would work for a bonder? Uber-energy degen, but tons of health, and gains energy on hit. Might work... -- Jioruji Derako.> 03:00, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Unless I'm mistaken this skill works like a Junundu form. That means 1) your primary attribute is reduced to 0 and 2) all your skills are replaced with form-specific skills. |GD Defender / contribs 03:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- What about maintained enchantments though? Perhaps you could manage to keep them active when you go into form (though I admit, it's unlikely). -- Jioruji Derako.> 03:42, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- I doubt it. You loose maintained enchants when you ride a junundu. Chriskang 08:52, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- You can keep a stance on when you change form if you use it after you use the skill but before it affects you (and vice versa with Junundu Tunnel), but only because it's instant activation. Maintained enchantments all have a cast time, and the ones with 1/4 cast (healer's boon) aren't worth using to try and get a 20/20 set to proc to make it 1/8 or even 1/16 (which is instant act as far as the game cares) and have a chance at getting it on before the form changes your skills.
- However, with Junundu there is a delay between touching the spoor and the wurm swallowing you, and with these skills it is instant act, so I can't guarantee they won't take effect instantly. You can bring a bonder hero with Balthazar's Spirit though. :D |GD Defender / contribs 16:26, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Then how exactly do you explain weapon spells? All im saying is activation has nothing to do with it. --Lou-Saydus 19:22, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Can't tell until it's released, eh? I'm sure there will be some way to carry things over, such as activating a stance just as you change forms, or sticking a weapon spell on, or maybe activating a Glyph right before you change forms. Can't test anything until it's out though. -- Jioruji Derako.> 21:55, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- That will probably work, like when in Junundu form they are still on you. ----InfestedHydralisk 23:05, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

- You do not drop ANY enchants you are maintaining when you enter a junundu, although, upon entering one, you are stripped of any you are maintainning on yourself, it is possible to maintain mending, lifebond, watchful spirit, etc. on other players that have already entered junundu. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:208.117.81.202 .

- Volfen Agility: 10...20
- Totem of Man: no green numbers

Bug[edit]
If you have a zealous weapon, you still get -2 energy degen, but you get TWO counts of +1 per hit. Maestro Ed 00:13, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- It's not a bug, you are just set to -2 energy forever, until it ends ----InfestedHydralisk 19:54, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- hes saying you get an extra energy on attack and still only have -2 degen which is a bug. --Tenshi Strife 04:10, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- still not a bug. its a locked -2 degen... attacks are still with the weapon. Whether its unbalanced like this remains to be seen.--Midnight08 09:04, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hehe, whose going to complain about a PvE Only skill being unbalanced... Monsters? It's not really any different from still getting double strikes, or hitting 2 additional foes with Daggers and Scythes when you're a Junundu. Dragon 19:16, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- ppl do complain tho - look at the seed of life nerf... this skill.. well all 3 of these... arent that great at all, so i dont see a big deal with a bit more energy gain--Midnight08 19:38, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- the 2 counts of +1 energy is from the original volfen blessing, then another from the zealous wep. and you are permanantly set, no matter what (until the form ends), to -2 energy degeneration. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:64.251.53.130 (talk).
Should transform the user into a wolf[edit]
Okay, it is a blessing only, but it looks odd when a caster suddenly goes into close combat under this blessing. I also would like it to see people using it in their wolf/bear/raven form. --Longasc 20:08, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Still doesnt change the character into a wolf...Maybe we should edit the related page. Does someone know if it's a bug, a missing feature or something intended ? --LuciusTarkin 18:40, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe there is a problem/bug issue with changing the char model and appearance on the fly. In Gandara there is a video sequence and you have to re-enter before you can do the mission. Still, I cannot believe that this could not be solved or is really an issue. As it stands the Blessing skills are simply not used because it just looks too odd to do a "Wolven Pounce" as a Caster char e.g.. in human forum. We should ask on the forums why there is no transformation and that we would really like it to change us to a wolf/bear/raven. --Longasc 08:54, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- It shouldn't be a problem, since dervishes have avatar forms they can change into no problem...Nicky Silverstar 12:19, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, huge disappointment there. I thought these were going to be forms kinda like the norn forms. Oh well, shoulda known not to get my hopes up with anet. --Lou-Saydus 16:39, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure they did it this way on purpose. Since these skills are things taught to you by Norn, it kinda makes sense that you would learn the functionality of the skills, but since you are not Norn, why should you be able to change form? The animal forms appear to be inherently a Norn trait. so stop copmlaining lol Nay the One and Only 00:42, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Blessing + Echo(type) Skills[edit]
Since the blessings remove enchantments (ex. Mending), has anyone used this (or any other Blessing) with an echo (ex. Mending Refrain). Since its an echo it shouldnt be removed, and Because its an echo, you can use the shout found in each animal blessing to maintain it. For the example:
- Volfen Blessing - P/? = 8 regen, ?/P = 7 regen
- Ursan/Raven Blessing - P/? = 4 regen, ?/P = 3 regen
Im sure there are other echo skills that could be used to enhance the blessing skills. -Raisu : 72.24.49.41 05:10, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- Uhm, Echo would trigger on the blessing itself but because your skills get replaced, no other effects. Arcane Echo ends on using a non-spell skill so basically, nothing would happen. Dark Morphon(contribs) 09:41, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Echo copies the blessing itself and sits on your hidden 'real' skill bar over in limbo somewhere until its timer runs up and it reverts to being Echo. Unless you can hit Totem of Man before that happens, and even if so, why bother :D. --Star Weaver 15:33, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Nerfage of Blessings?[edit]
Has anyone else noticed that they changed the three Norn blessings? I think by giving them a set time limit they made them worse. Siria 01:09, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, there has been whole storm about Norn blessings recently. Change to fixed duration, without messing with mana was introduced in order to balance the blessings with other skills (especially Ursan) and stop grind for high Norn rank to be allowed (by other Ursans) to join parties at hi-level areas. As for me the change made blessings (now forms) even better, I always used them as a sort of all-in-one spike, or "switch to tank mode" - just for a while, to get rid of nasty mobs. The big drawback was, that after returning to human form energy was 0, and you had to wait until it recharges. Kinda short shutdown (no adrenaline either). Now it's easy - turn on the form, use it's powerfull skills as much as you can, and when you back to normal you usually have your energy at 100%, with all but lengthiest recharging skills recharged. So for me, it's rather an improvement, especially for casters - max HP and armor while in a form are fixed now regardless of proffesion. - ZeeWolf

Bug in Volfen Pounce?[edit]
After the August 8 (2008) update I've observed very annoying thing about the Volfen Pounce. It was changed to stance instead of skill - that's a good thing - it was unnatural when you were stopping in a middle of a chase when using it. But now, it doesn't inflict damage at all sometimes (damage is not reduced - it's NOT DELIVERED). This stance ends on first damage inflicted, and it looks like your standard attack cancels the stance before damage from it is inflicted. That's odd, because stances should have no aftercast. It does happen when you activate the stance when attacking in place, and most frustrating - when you try to rush with this stance on target. Sometimes it hits, sometimes it doesn't. The only way I managed to always inflict damage was to side or backstep from keyboard to cancel attack just before hit. Little annoying. Before the update it worked normally (always inflicted damage) - change to stance type seems without connection, because similar stance, Enraging Charge, works normally. - ZeeWolf
Progression of health regeneration[edit]
Seems to be incorrect. I am at rank 8, and health regeneration is at +4, not at +3. 138.246.7.121 21:18, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Major Glitch[edit]
Maybe it was just me, but I experienced this glitch multiple times. N/Mo, a little soul reaping and blood magic. Picked up the blessing, wolf form works just fine. However, I would randomly change back into human form (but with volfen blessing still active, so I kept the wolf skills). I could attack with my staff at a distance, and use the skills (though skills were all melee range, still). I found it rather amusing, but this is clearly a glitch. It happened multiple times throughout the entire mission. Natso 00:35, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- You don't change shape when using this blessings. Only your skill bar changes. 145.94.74.23 10:51, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
What does it remove?[edit]
See Talk:Ursan_Blessing#What_does_it_remove.3F. I didn't test as many skills as I did for Ursan Blessing, but it appears to remove the same effects as it does. It removes (at least) Enchantment Spells (tested with Explosive Growth), Shouts ("I Am the Strongest!"), Stances (Drunken Master), and Chants (Anthem of Flames). Blue Totoro 15:32, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
