This is what constitutes as the average GW player: 15-16 years old, poor grammar, little knowledge of the game's mechanics or effective tactics in any situation that does not involve tank&spank, and believing in the misconception that time spent or the titles that you have equal skill. Not the kind of person you want to team up with often, but unless you want to do all of GW's content with heroes (in which case I wonder why you bought a MMO game to begin with), you inevitably run into a few of them. A good solution to this is to find a good guild and team up with people of equal skill to have some fun with.
But what if those people are the cause of even bigger problems?
When people like Hyem put an idea on the Feedback part of this site, it will be considered by Anet as a valid idea, no matter how ridiculous it is. And it gets even worse when people agree with him, because then, you get the logical fallacy known as Argumentum ad Populum, or thinking a statement is true because many people believe in it. An example can be seen here, where no attempt is made to bring a point to counter my logic, and instead people think logic can be countered by sheer numbers. Utter stupidity, if you ask me, which brings me to my next example.
"Ever heard of sarcasm? Since when when is logic used with balancing ,people just complain about a skill and if it's enough the skill gets nerfed regardless of it's function and later on claimed that it's for the so called balance of the game. The vast majority of the skill have simply come by complains and easily recognised by their crap nerfs istead of balancing them. Take my word to it, democracy outrules logic and even reason. If reason were to be used in this world religion would not excist anymore and america would not be suffering the stupidity of those shithead republicans (a common view from a european and myself included). Also when using skills as example me it a credible one Soul Bind IS a crap elite because it's too conditional as an elite and with a modest investment into smiting prayers you can take Scourge Healing instead and save yourself an elite and still be effective into pressuring the healing and let your team finish the job. Discussion ends with this, learn to recognise sarcasm in such comments please instead of posting such a stupid discussion. Anonymous User 17:58, 4 January 2011 (UTC)"
The idea that logic should be outruled by democracy is so bizarre that nobody in the right mind would even think about it. When dealing with game mechanics, suggestions that will alter the state of the game drastically, or anything of such matter, logic and reason are the only path to walk. Daggerbird here wants Guardian nerfed because it "puts the monk class on a more even playing field as the rest of the professions." Daggerbird has probably never played any serious PvP in his life, yet he made a suggestion to nerf 1 of the cornerstones of protting. And never has he responded to the many valid criticisms about his suggestions. Okay, Mr. Anonymous who made the above quote did respond, but... well, it kind of speaks for itself. Soul Bind is (was? I do not play this game anymore) used in every hex-based pressure build in the game because of the insane damage it does to monks and being in a line with countless other overpowered pressure skills and 3 skills used only to cover the other hexes, thus rendering most hex-removal skills useless.
Democracy should NEVER outrule logic.
