Please don't test dyeability on heroes or from equipment packs. Test with the item equipped on your own character or in regular inventory (not the new equipment packs.) I've seen cases where an item equipped on a hero would not open the dye preview, but the same item would dye when placed in inventory.

If reporting data, please include as much of the following information as you can

  • Exact name of the weapon/offhand and it's skin variant (if there's more than one skin for the name.)
  • Text color, max or non-max, inscribable or not (in the case of white items, did it come from a source known to produce inscribable or uninscribable loot?)
  • Does applying dye to it open the dye preview window or not? If it does open, does the dye affect appear to match what's currently shown here?
  • For loot drops from foes or chests ...
    • Date it dropped (if you know)
    • Map where it dropped (if you know)
    • Foe or type of chest that dropped it (if you know)
  • For collector or crafter items ...
    • Date if was obtained from the collector or crafter (if you know)
    • Which collector or crafter produced it (if you know)
    • Especially in the case of inscribable items, are you positive it's from a collector or crafter instead of dropped blue loot?

Metal-skinned "Inscribed Chakrams[edit]

I have yet to find any of these dropped as loot in Prophecies or Factions which would dye. Of the ones that drop in NF and EotN, some won't dye while some will dye with one of two effects (yellow looks default or yellow looks greenish.) Collector/crafter versions seem to have all three possibilities. LicensedLuny 04:08, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

  • a blue, max, inscribable "Inscribed Chakram" purchased from another player will open the dye preview window, and dye has noticable effect on the color of the offhand. (It's req 8, so loot rather than collector/crafter.) LicensedLuny 00:47, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

  • I have a collector metal-skin Inscribed Chakram which will not dye. I don't remember when I got it or from which collector, but it is blue with dual max stats (+1 20% and +30hp,) r9 and a 125g merchant value. Therefore I'm sure it is a collector chakram.   • I discussed my dye research with another player some time ago. They've just told me that sometime last week they got a max, gold, insc. metal-skin "Inscribed Chakram" from the reward chest of a HM EotN dungeon (they think it was either Shards of Orr or Catacombs of Kathandrax but can't remember for sure.) They got another max, gold, insc. metal-skin "Inscribed Chakram" from a Locked Chest in HM Domain of Anguish (they think City of Torc'qua but not sure) in the past week; that offhand would not dye.   • On Jan 6, 2009, a friend of mine got a gold, max, insc. metal-skin "Inscribed Chakram" from Catacombs of Kathandrax HM which will dye. He doesn't remember for sure if it came from a Locked Chest, the reward chest or a foe, but he doesn't think it was from a foe. LicensedLuny 04:52, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
  • A trusted friend tells me they got two gold, max, insc. metal-skin "Inscribed Chakrams," both dyeable. The first came from a foe in HM Catacombs of Kathandrax on Feb 22. The second came from a locked chest in HM Raven's Point on Feb. 25. Both chakrams appear to be default color when dyed yellow - which does not match the dye chart here.
