History[edit]
Namuen used to be a content Sunspear. She was a more casual type than zealous, occasionally doing her duty by clearing out Corsairs and brigands. To her, it was more like a job than Istani patriotism but she enjoyed it well enough.
One day she wandered in Blacktide Den, persuing information regarding a corsair presence. Well, the sources held accurate and she was captured.
She was overwhelmed with little to no backup. She went through a short-lived enslavement, where she gave a formidable resistance, killing a few of her captors if they went near her.
Ironfist was forced to arrive himself. On his way he thought of the perfect punishment. His thoughts became a reality as they caged Namuen and brought her to an underground cove. There, he gouged out one of her eyes and threw her into a battle pit. Where various warriors and other pirates fought her.
Knowing full-well the future held and accepted her fate of possible blindness or death, Namuen studied their stances, painfully grasping a now-useless eye. She studied the sounds of the steps and the swings of the swords, as she overpowered them all with her spear.
Annoyed at the resistance, Ironfist was able to get close enough to forcefully rip her last eye out, and commencing the Arena-like battles. She overcame many more, using her new and untrained skills of using her ears and soul in battle. Already mapping out possible escape routes, she dived past an unarmed crowd of corsairs and escaped into the tunnels. They did not persue, figuring she was relatively useless. (An odd thought process after she killed dozens of them, blinded).
She did not have to travel far to find her sunspear allies, and they aided her back to health.
With her newfound abilities, she went to Shing Jea Monestary. Knowing full-well they taught Canthan-borns only, she pleaded with her past story and convinced the Headmasters that she could follow the ways of the Ritualist. She resides in Shing Jea today, where she proves time and time again that she is a worthy Canthan Student.
- For Roleplay: Namuen is a mixture of depressed and happy. They swing either which direction sometimes. (Basically? A normal person.)
Affiliation with the Vanguard[edit]
Shing Jea Monestary is well known for being a common recruiting place for the Canthan army or otherwise, with some slight reluctance of Master Togo. Namuen was one of the many students, along with a brawler named Hasin, approached with the information on the Vanguard. While they are not considered Vanguard Soldiers, they have information and knowledge of them. The Vanguard Commander believes in the power of the "word of mouth".
