Anti Leeching-Anti Bot Measures (Discussion)[edit]
Implement some kind of verification that a player isn't using a program to leech or play as a bot when entering a PvP mission that does not allow teams (e.g. Random Arena, Jade Quarry, Fort Aspenwood). Methods to do this can be:
- verify an image (similar to how a some web forum require users to type the text that they see in an image
- have the player answer a random simple math problem
- have the player complete a simple minigame or challenge e.g. click on specific objects that display on the screen or put them in a certain order. This can also utilize animated objects (e.g. rotating orbs with a symbol on the surface of the orb) so that bot programs would have a harder time using image recognition to identify the objects.
There should also be a limit on how many attempts the player has to complete the challenge. If the player reaches that limit, then the player should be get dishonor to prevent him from joining a PvP match.
- Why this is a good idea
- Reduce bots and leechers in PvP areas.
- Makes the game more enjoyable when you don't have a leecher or bot on your team in PvP.
- Save NCSoft money by reducing the number of leecher and bot reports that the support staff have to answer.
- Why it may not work out
- Players may not like having to verify or complete a minigame to play PvP.
- Won't protect against leechers or bot users that babysit the computer.
- Annoying the everliving fuck out of your customer base isn't a good idea.
