This looked like the correct place for this. I was wondering what I might need to do to have the sunspear rank userbox I made a little easier to edit and use on the official wiki. I didnt copy the other wikis box and I don't know enough about how to properly make a page so the template works when you use the short version of the userbox template, and I thought you may be able to help with that. Well I hope to maybe be considered a noob at GWW coding someday. =D Oh, one thing I noticed on the template was that when I left the ":" in front of the user sunspear part the userbox would not show up. Once I removed it, it worked fine. I'm not sure if that is just something with my computer or if it does need to be taken out since the box does work in the example on the template page. My userpage has a bug in IE

Hi Eloc, I have a problem with my userpage, and was wondering if you could please help me with it. Using FireFox my userpage looks fine, but if I look at it using IE, it stretches the info column all the way to the right side of the screen and doesn't display the links and pictures sections. I know Nazis had the swastikas pointing in the other direction, but they also used red and black in their flag, so I can't quite help wondering if you are attempting to represent the Nazi ideology through your signature. Could you please shed some light on this, because so far, I'm finding it rather offensive, since what happened back under the Nazi regime was one of the most terrible and sad chapters of the history of mankind. Many people from many different cultures visit this site, and I think a symbol like that should be used in consideration of other peoples feelings towards it. No, I'm pretty sure it is a swastika. The words swastika doesn't only refer to the symbol used by the Nazis, its more general in terms of...its a cross with arms that bend at 90° angles. Look, dude, keep comments like that to yourself. That's just plain out hostile and rude and offensive and elitist (even to me, that wasn't part of that discussion). The number of users who regularly edit the wiki are a vast minority to those who don't, and that's perfectly fine. There's more than enough other good reasons to have an account on this wiki besides editing it. You just can't go around telling people "hi, you're a newbie, welcome to OUR wiki". Especially so when they've had edits since as early as May.

Similarly, I've seen you tell anons to register accounts randomly, even when it has nothing to do with what's being discussed. Please do not do that anymore. Just like no one needs to edit the wiki to have an account, no one needs to sign up an account to edit it. When you tell a new user to register an account they, not knowing who you are or how the wiki works, can very possibly be lead to believe that registering an account is necessary/mandatory/recommended/whatever. If he hasn't violated any policies, and may very well have acted in his best intentions, doesn't that mean everyone reprimanding him for not breaking any rules and defending his actions account to bullying? He explained his reasoning for the post... he didn't say the guy was noob or invaluable or anything of the sort. He simply explained why he believes his welcome message appeared after the 6 months the account existed for. He didn't say "you're a newbie" - everyone has inferred that from his comments because they are all too sensitive to read them from a neutral viewpoint. Stop crucifying him - he wouldn't have posted the welcome message if he didn't believe the user was new. His logic for determining how "new" that user was has been demonstrated to be flawed but not impossible to understand. No, just because he's not breaking any policies and has good intentions, us telling him he's doing something wrong doesn't mean we're bullying him. There's many mistakes one can do that aren't ban-worthy and are still unhealthy to the wiki and as the saying goes, that road is paved with good intentions. Criticism/advice/suggestions are not bullying. Do you really expect us to leave every problem unconfronted until it reaches the level of policy infraction and deserves a ban? Weren't people recently whining at sysops and bcrats and regular editors for not intervening when they thought something was wrong, until they had a policy to back them?

Do you really think that I'm trying to bully Eloc by pointing out to him that making users register accounts goes against the idea of an open wiki, or that I'm bullying him when I note that that by taking that kind of condescending tone with other users just because they have few contributions he's antagonizing those who are the real reason why ANet decided to host a wiki in the first place? If you do, then you are simply wrong and are missing the reason why I decided to bother posting the above here today, after weeks of barely activity on this wiki. Do you really think I'm here trying to kick him while he's down? I'm not. It's simply about not letting some of the wiki's most basic ideas get lost. I see where you are coming from however I did feel the outlash against eloc was unreasonable. Well-meaning people make mistakes, and you should correct them when they do. chinese are always complex (similar to the right one in eloc's sig), when they look like that then it's hard to tell, but incomplex ones like eloc's right one are definetely japanese. symbols with circles and many 90° angles are korean. - Y0_ich_halt 19:51, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Japanese writing uses three different types of "letters": Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. Katakana is used for foreign words, borrowed from other languages or foreign names, it looks like a more "cornery (xD)" version of Hiragana. Hiragana and Kanjis are used for Japanese words as well as Japanese names...etc. Kanjis are the same "letters" you see in Chinese writing, so a person who can speak Japanese can read Chinese to a certain degree and vice versa, although a lot of the pronunciations are completely different (On and Kun readings or something like that). Some words in Japanese however are written exclusively in Hiragana, which looks a lot simpler than the Kanjis. As far as I know anything you can write with a Kanji can also be written in Hiragana...or Katakana for that matter, for reasons of simplicity and readability. If you are reading a modern Japanese text, you will likely see examples of all 3 letter-types. Sig Pic

Take whatever image you want, upload it under something along the lines of "Image:User Cursed Angel sig icon.jpg". Then, go to my preferences, and edit the third input box down with the wiki code you want for your sig. Also, check the box right below the input one. To put the image in, put the image file name in brackets, as if linking it, then save your preferences. You can make additional changes with the font and such by editing the code some more. Note that the picture in your sig must be 19px x 19px, no larger. Calor - talk 00:59, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Lol, it's a start. I had problems editing my sig, too. For the image to redirect to your talk page, go to the image's file page. Edit the description and put in #REDIRECT [[User talk:Cursed Angel]]. Save. Now the image redirects to your talk page. EDIT: Half my post didn't save. I'll redo. Anyways, after redirecting to your talk page with the image, try using this code for your actual sig: [[User:Cursed Angel|Cursed Angel]][[Image:Image-User_Cursed_Angel_sig_icon.jpg|19px]]. That will make Cursed Angel direct to your userpage, and the image (if I got everything right) to your talk page. Knock yourself out :p. Calor - talk 15:48, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

cursed, the problem with your sig above is that you put the image into the user page link. as a model: you used [[User:Example|Example [[Image:xyz|talk]] there's two mistakes in here:

a)you put the image inside the user page link

b)you open two links while only closing one of them

correct would be [[User:Example|Example]] [[Image:xyz|talk]] - Y0_ich_halt 16:29, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
