Hi
Remind me next time I pass through Cavalon and see you to say hi. I went through recently with my Dervish while you were looking for a new ally (sorry, we're Kurzick) and thought about saying hi but I blew through pretty quickly. So, I'm saying hi here instead. Hi! :) Nbajammer 05:54, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

That's why users under 100 contribs are prohibited from "voting" in bcrat elections? I know that's a far cry from what you've mentioned previously in your bid for admin et al, but I'd have to say that # of contribs being worthless is a bit off the deep end. So... I can't be postive about this, but, unless I'm very much mistaken, you just accused a user of vandalizing his own user page. gg. *Defiant Elements* +talk 00:40, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

- (Edit conflict) Yeah, uh, Eloc. Notice how that IP accounts for a large amount of the page's edits? Also, see the name of Seymor's character? See where it's redirecting to? The IP most often on Seymor's page, who happens to be Seymor (Do you see an edit by Seymor on that page? A few, not a lot) redirected that page to his new account, Sorn Seymor, which is the name of his main character. See how it all fits together? And he should be logging in, but it shouldn't all be reverted because he isn't. How do you know there aren't technical problems with the account, explaining the IP edits and new account? Eloc, I think I'm echoing advise given to you by many people before me, but I suggest you stop using those templates. Since you've created those templates, you've been giving people more notices than before their creation, and some of those notices are pointless or assumes bad faith. You may not be intending to get that sort of message across, but unfortunately, it is nevertheless.
It would be better if you either held your notices back, whether or not they are templates, or if you gave a friendly notice instead, not something that says you may be vandalising, or it may be unwelcome, but something like "Could you log in if you are that user, it saves confusion over userpages". -- Brains12 • Talk • 16:38, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

American
Hey, earlier I searched a few words with alternate non-American English spellings and Americanized them, because the game is in American English and ArenaNet is an American company. Don't bother going to revert them, as somebody will go and revert your edit, as we already saw with Auron. And out of curiosity, is a word like 'color' spelled 'color' or 'colour' in Canada? Just something to keep in mind, when you reformat pages like this, it still pings everyone who has the page on their watchlist - so for changes that aren't really necessary (adding spaces doesn't really do much since the formatting is pretty much just as logical without them), it might be better to just leave it as is. (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 22:35, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I was just doing it as it just makes it easier for newer users to distinguish what is where on a page. Just looks neater is all. — ク Eloc 貢 00:01, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Song of the Day
You know, it might be a good idea to create a User:Eloc Jcg/Song of the Day and include it in your user page rather than having your user page show up on watchlists daily. Too many trivial changes might discourage users from looking at what changed and thus miss more important changes. -- ab.er.rant 15:12, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Hey Eloc!

Correct
But have a made a post that would require me to log in for? Some of us are lurkers, we choose not to have accounts on purpose. ;| --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:63.126.183.110 (talk).
- No, not technically, but assuming Eloc is correct is assuming you're an ANet staff member, it would be smart to be signed in when posting so players reading the page can be assured that ANet is working on the task. Because a lot of people don't trust IP posters. Calor 22:51, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- That's the point though. I don't post. Until.. now. Lol, when Eloc called me out on my talk page. ;| Which is why I was asking if I had made a post (that I forgot about). Many of us at Anet don't post due to PR reasons or choose not to post. -Chelsea Kibler

- Ah, I spoke with some of the more wiki savvy here. Apparently, it's a shared IP and I just happened to be assigned it today. It seems some others from various departments have posted with it in the past. I was confused as to how I got a message when I haven't posted in the past. :] So, Eloc, in the future so you know, this IP isn't tied to anyone in the building in particular. -Chelsea
- Ya, I know it's no one in particular, but I knew for sure that it was ArenaNets IP adress considering the majority of the contributions involve ArenaNet staff user pages. The reason you got the message is because you just happened to be the first one that checked the wiki at the time and the message just popped up for you. By the way, nice to meet you Chelsea :) — ク Eloc 貢 03:25, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Spaces in between topics
Hey Eloc, could you leave the line spaces in between talk topics please - removing them or adding them when it's unnecessary just pings many watchlists and the new message box for that user. It's understandable if it's to fix a major problem with the formatting of a page or something, but I don't really see why it should be done otherwise. -- Brains12 \ Talk 23:38, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- Why keep the space there? It's pretty easy to tell what the edit was in your watchlist as it will just say -1. — ク Eloc 貢 23:41, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- But it's still irritating and it's just pointless to remove them. - anja 23:43, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- How is it irritating? It's just regular day editing. — ク Eloc 貢 23:45, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict x2) I ignore the number, even if it's bolded. I don't diff-check talk pages either, meaning there's a little extra pointless work, and the new messages box is still pinged up regardless. To be honest, why remove the space? It's not doing any harm by staying there, so I don't see why you would want to remove it anyway. Is the gap irritating for you? -- Brains12 \ Talk 23:47, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Don't revert. I'm not alone with that opinion. It wasn't a speedy so let people argue if they don't agree. — Galil 03:14, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Eloc is certainly not alone in doing that. While I agree that IPs should not be considered 'owned' in principle, if someone wants to get in touch with an editor, having a way to find out that an IP is most likely used by a certain user would be helpful, no? Backsword 03:20, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's a double edged sword, though. Say someone else gets that IP later and starts vandalizing. Would we then just assume it was Eloc? — Galil 03:22, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes. Backsword 03:27, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Well, considering I live in a small town, and I'm like one of the only 2 who plays GuildWars, I highly doubt anyone will start vandalizing. My IP doesn't change, look how long I've had it for. Heck, it has almost been a year and I've still had the same IP. — ク Eloc 貢 03:29, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- IP addresses aren't bound by town, unless you have a seriously local ISP, and how long you've had your IP is irrelevant, IMO anyway. One shouldn't be able to claim ownage of an IP, and it would seem ab.er.rant is of the same opinion, but I don't care enough to argue about it. — Galil 03:36, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Then why mark it for deletion? If anyone vandalizes through that IP, I'll take full responsibility for it, ok? — ク Eloc 貢 16:09, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- For the same reason he mentioned in the delete tag, you can't claim complete ownership of an IP address even if you have a static IP. I too have a static IP address, had the same IP address for ages then it got changed; by my ISP for whatever reason; to my present one which hasn't changed since. Personally I would of tagged it speedy U2; as would of a number of others; for exactly the same reason as Galil, as your IP can be changed at any time by your ISP. Since you do all your edits logged in why would you need to have an IP address redirected to your userpage anyway Eloc, it's not like you can add it's contributions to your own? --Kakarot 17:35, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

- As I've said before, cause anon user pages shouldn't exist since you can't claim ownership of an IP. I reverted your removal of the deletion tags since I'm also of the opinion that you do not remove delete tags without discussing it, you definitely do not remove a deletion tag without giving a reason other than "says you", and you especially do not remove deletion tags on pages you created yourself. If you think they should stay you're entitled to that opinion, but argue about it first. — Galil 18:10, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- I am with Galil on this, you can not claim IP's as your own, there is a reason for logging in. and removing the deletion tag just because you disagree is the best way to start revert wars, please discuss in the future. --Lemming 00:00, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Deletion tags should not be reverted period without discussion, except in cases of vandalism. Their purpose is to start discussion, and reverting them runs contrary to that purpose. (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 00:03, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
