Just a Trivia Check
I was just wondering if the the floating head that appears on the first floor here is a reference to the way Jor-El appears to Superman in the Fortress of Solitude. --Broodling67 04:42, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm actually not sure. I'll track down what artist fleshed out that map and ask them. -- Emily Diehl (talk) 19:05, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's not a direct reference to Jor-El - this was a design motif for one of the races that was a part of the Utopia campaign, and it got repurposed when we shifted to designing the expansion pack. --Matthew Medina 20:45, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- I love learning little tid bits like this, and now I really want to see what the Utopia campaign would have been like. Thanks for the response, you guys are the best for taking the time out of your busy schedules to answer little questions like this, it is really appreciated.
- P.S. I'm really paranoid about insulting people so I just wanna say that when I linked to the article about Jor-El it was only because I rarely get the opportunity to use external links and I just felt like linking something, not because I didn't think you knew who Jor-El was. --Broodling67 23:39, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Edielh Shockhunter
I don't suppose that boss is named after you is it? ^_^ Sirocco 00:41, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- The is incredibly tenuous, besides starting with an E and containing an l and an i, what other similarities do the names have? --Lemming 15:08, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Probably the fact that Edielh is E. Dielh. Could be a coincidence, but not what I'd call tenuous. Ale_Jrb (talk) 15:14, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- There's not even any switching of letters going on - the mobs name is her first initial and last name. A very clear reference (although I hate Trivia, so no worries on the removal from the boss' page!) --Mystisteel 15:17, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

- Yep, that's my boss :) Andy made her a bat (since I'm obsessed with them). He said that he wished we'd have made her a Necro, but had to make her an Ele instead for some reason. He added a ton of ArenaNet staff-related easter eggs to the GW:EN boss names, so I am sure you'll find more guys named after different devs. :) -- Emily Diehl (talk) 18:58, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Horray I was right! And there's more to be found! Sirocco 20:16, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok gonna make a list hehe:
- "Blobby" - Bobby Stein
- Cobleri Arronn - Aaron Coberly
- Chaelse Flameshielder - Chelsea Kibler
- Katye Bloodburner - Katy Hargrove
- Shons the Pretender - Shawn Sharp (a wild guess)
- Horai Wingshielder - Horia Dociu
- Docu Kindleshot - Daniel Dociu (could be Horai, but if my above guess is right, this is more likely)
- Taameh the Frigid - Tami Foote (another shot in the dark)
- Spafrod Iceblood - Austin Spafford
- Kemil the Inept - Kevin Millard
- Pywatt the Swift - Patrick Wyatt
- Reesou the Wanderer - Ree Soesbee

Gloat trivia
Is the trivia listed for Gloat correct to identify this comic as inspiration for Gloat's skill animation. Either way, I laughed so much when I saw this skill! -- Dashface 09:49, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Trivia Check #578 (and 579)
User:Bobby Stein disavows responsibility for Bobby the Costume Brawl NPC. Is this another dev's secret homage to him, or is this named after an entirely different Bobby? Also, is the model meant to evoke a major Cylon vibe, or is that just me? - Tanetris 14:50, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- The model is certainly not new as you can see in the model project: Guild Wars Wiki:Projects/NPC models/Undead --Lemming 13:46, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- ...You know, I've seen that page probably several dozen times, and for some reason it never clicked that they're the same. I blame the angle. Consider this two separate trivia checks then! 1: Who's the Bobby?, and 2: Is the Eternal Warrior model supposed to be Cylonish? I'm now guessing not on the latter. - Tanetris 09:03, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hehe :) Oddly enough, this NPC was not named after Bobby Stein. You can ask Izzy for more details, but (from what I overheard with my headphones on), this guy's name was a placeholder. The writers must have thought it was funny, so they left it in. We didn't notice it until a bit later, and all the groans in the world couldn't get it changed :) And no, I don't believe that that model has any Cylon reference, although a lot of us are BSG fans. -- Emily Diehl (talk) 01:43, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Blood And Smoke trivia
Is Dark Oak's second dialogue a reference to the upcoming events of Nightfall? Because Nightfall came out 18 months after Prophecies, and likely close too two years after you guys thought up most of Prophecies. It seems to close to be pure coincidene...but you never know. Calor - talk 23:23, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

The Great Dwarf, Thor and their respective hammers
Was the Hammer of the Great Dwarf in any way based on Thor's? I ask because of Talk:Great Dwarf#Thor and the many revisions of the trivia section of the article. Thanks in advance for a response. br12 • 17:58, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Weststar
Hi Emily. I'm not really sure if this is trivia or a mistake or what, but you've always been good about helping with questions, so I come to you. At the end of The Flight North, there's a group of Ebon Vanguard, including Captain Langmar, Anton, and Weststar's unit who we know from Falling Out. The thing is, in The Flight North, he's Captain Weststar, but in GW:EN, he's Sergeant Weststar. Did he get demoted in the intervening years? Or was this a mistake when making the bonus mission? - Tanetris 08:43, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

NPC name trivia
Is there any relation between Ian Sturmme and John Stumme? ;) --84-175 (talk) 15:34, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- He sure is! John also hinted that there is a Kurzick named after him somewhere too, so keep an eye out for that guy too. -- Emily Diehl (talk) 19:26, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- These guys were named after me back when I was an Alpha Tester (there's quite a lot of NPCs named after various testers in the game!) Just so people don't think I'm going around naming NPCs after myself - because if I was, they'd have a much more epic name, like Awesome McRockenstein. John Stumme 19:42, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Technobabble trivia ?
Hi, I know this one's a long shot but everytime I look at this skill I can't help but think about the Alan Parsons Project's song psychobabble. Any trivia involved here ? Thnx in advance ^^ Erszebet 12:45, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- One would have thought it's a general play on the jargon term technobabble, if you think about how the jargon is used to confuse people or obfuscate information, the Dazed effect of the spell makes sense. BramStoker (talk, contribs) 12:52, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Anet's CMM level?
Did Anet ever get evaluated with CMM before? If so, what level did you guys obtained? Lightblade 20:10, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've honestly never heard of that before, so I couldn't say. I'm guessing no, though. -- Emily Diehl (talk) 22:26, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Lightblade, you can find companies' CMMI levels at [1]. Note that you won't find any game development companies on this list, though. Probably no developers of retail software at all, actually. Most of these are either defense contractors or software development companies seeking contracts with the government or other large organizations. If you want to write software to sell to Boeing for use in the 797 avionics system for a few million dollars, you might be interested in seeking CMMI evaluation. If you're looking to sell software to consumers off the shelves of Best Buy for $59, it'd be a waste of your time and money. --68.187.144.197 01:44, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Missing boss or false information?
Hi Emily. I was wondering if you could check to see if a boss by the name of "Harth Mendbranch" exists. Until a bit ago, it was a red link on our Vengeance article, copied there from the GuildWiki page on that skill. It was originally added there by Tetris L, back in August 2005, saying it spawned in Talmark Wilderness, but neither GuildWiki nor GWW ever made a page on the boss itself. Some helpful GuildWikians cleared Talmark Wilderness and could not find the boss. Just wanted to confirm whether Tetris L was mistaken in the first place, the boss was removed for some reason in the intervening 2.5 years, or if there's some bug preventing the boss from spawning (wouldn't be the first time)? Thanks much. - Tanetris 22:08, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- at some point i think he existed. found this from google search:

- Level: 18
- Armor Level: 54
- Description: Dmg 8-21 (R-Holy)
- Protective Spirit
- Vengeance
- Holy Strike
- Healing Breeze

- Hi guys! I'm checking with Andrew about this for you. -- Emily Diehl (talk) 01:42, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Harth Mendbranch can be found in Majesty's Rest, not Talmark Wilderness. He will spawn, though he's a rare spawn at two locations, and does not appear until you approach him, like the other reed stalkers in the area, so it would likely take several tries to find him. The skills listed by VVong are correct, though he should be level 22. He shares spawn locations with another boss, Psion Tanglebranch. One of the spawn locations is a short ways north from the portal to Talmark Wilderness, so it would likely be possible to run between zones until he spawns.--Andrew McLeod 20:54, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Some people have said the blindfold is a reference to the blindfold Neo wears at the end of the Matrix Revolutions. Could you confirm this, or let us know if it is a reference to something else? Someone else suggested that it was in homage of Kormir! :) Thanks! - BeX 00:14, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
