Challenge Mission Ladder[edit]
Hi, I want to state some bugs/issues on the current challenge mission ladder on the guild wars webpage Link to ladder:
- Glint challenge: The new challenge of gwen has not been included on the ladder.
- Multiple windows: At least on my IE7, sometimes this webpage keeps opening new windows something very odd I have only seen on this page.
- Very slow response on clics: If I clic on "Monthly Best" or "Daily Best" the page delays around 20 or even more seconds to actually show that ladder, same if I change the specific challenge i want to see. (IE7)
- Names below the ladder: If I select a specific challenge (not "all missions"), the names of the character do not appear on a window if you put the mouse over the team, but instead the names appears below the ladder in an ugly manner.(IE7
- GDH first place: Sorry, but I need to share this xD, yesterday we Guardianes Del Honor [GDH] got 1st place on All missions Quarterly Best. I guess this is why I care =p This issue does not need fixing. You can see the image: Guardianes Del Honor Rank1 Challenge Ladder

- Congratulations on your placement, Coran. Would you mind putting a link to that image instead of the image itself? (The page fills really quickly, and it's all I can do to keep it editable and tidy, so if you could do that, it would help a lot!) Thanks. --Gaile 16:10, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Changed to a link. Just add a colon in front of the image link. :) -- (gem / talk) 16:14, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, heck that's so simple! I didn't know that. Thanks, Gem. --Gaile 16:15, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Guild Wars Oktoberfest 2007![edit]
Hi Gaile! I sent you an email noting that (Lord Sojar) had been with The Guilds of (LaZy) Nation and working with us on Oktoberfest 2007. Since that time, Lord Sojar has left the game and is no longer with us. LaZy will, however, continue it's pursuit of hosting a great event - so GW Oktoberfest 2007 is a GO! :) Oktoberfest http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Oktoberfest
We are close to having raised 50,000 ale!, in addition to the contributions being made by members throughout the community. We have plenty of contests planned for the event AND prizes galore ready to go! Drunkard Titles will be easy to achieve for those in attendance!
This is [LaZy]'s first hosted event for the global community. If you have any suggestions or tips on how we can improve communication of the event to the community, or how tips on hosting a successful event, I sure would appreciate hearing from you. It's planned for Saturday, October 20th, 2007.
We are both pleased and excited that we can offer this activity to the community and hope everyone has a grand time!
I personally hope you can attend as well! Please let us know if you can stop in for a visit! A little moderator support would be appreciated - as I've seen some players get carried away and out-of-hand at these things. Hope we don't have any spoilers!
Cheers from your friends at The Guilds of (LaZy) Nation! - Mark Araliuns Sun: Leader, The Guilds of (LaZy) Nation --AraliunsSun 16:06, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the kind invitation, Mark. While we cannot offer moderator support (if by that you mean in-game GMs) to help manage the event, I will certainly try to stop by during the event, and I imagine Andrew will as well. I think these player-driven events are a lot of fun, and I can see that LaZy Nation is putting a lot of effort into this one, for which we all thank you! --Gaile 14:40, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Love the logo! Thanks Spiderman 01:41, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Statistics[edit]
I found the article on the skill usage of tournaments a while back very interesting, and the average gold per player thing interesting too, and was wondering if it would be possible to give some other statistics, particularly those from PvE, just as general interest points. Some things I've often wondered:
- Distribution of character classes
- Top 5 elite/normal skills used per class
- Percentage of characters who have finished their native campaign
- Average number of dungeons finished for EotN players
- Percentage who've finished certain high-level content (Titan Quests etc.)
- Average XP
- Average play time per character
- Average play time across all character
It would be interesting, no? --Maestro Ed 00:26, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Even if they did a query. I don't think they're allowed to give that information out. I could be wrong however. - Drago 00:28, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- I have always thought it would be really cool to give that sort of information, and Mike O'Brien and I have talked about it in the past. Once the website is redesigned -- which will take a few months -- I'd like to include this information in one of the features that I have planned. Taking it further, it might be fun to see "Which is the most popular face for a Mesmer" or "How many characters have FoW Armour" or "What is the most common colour used by a Elementalist," or even "Which is the hat that most characters wear on a regular basis?" Fun stuff, huh? :)
- Now, I don't know how much of that data we could pull, and to be honest I don't exactly know how we'd pull it, but it's something I will definitely look forward to us offering, in whatever form we can, in the future. So I'll try to ask about that this coming week and see what I can learn. --Gaile 00:35, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Definately post any news when you do ask, Gaile. It would be pretty exciting to have info like that out there, even in sort of a monthly game update on the website or something ("over the past month, X amount of characters have reached level 20, and across all characters, players have gained a total of X levels"). Stuff like that would be pretty awesome. I know there are other games which keep player data and whatnot on websites; Battlefield 2142 has player stats on the official site, Battlefield 2 has a separate, unofficial site that's pretty awesome, it tells you your overall accuracy, favorite weapons, play time, and so on; it's quite nifty. So obviously stats like this are possible, the question would be, are they realistically possible? -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:18, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm also curious about the number of male and female characters, both overall and per profession. -- Gordon Ecker 08:30, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- This would be very interesting. -- ab.er.rant 08:37, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, very interesting. I've been waiting for more since the gold amount statistics. -- (gem / talk) 08:41, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

(r.i.)Now thats a good idea. Hows about usage statistics for (all) skills, pve and pvp so there would be some good from it, Izzy might know what to buff, so its not always in the end of the list :contemplates purity: Biz 16:01, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Old Fansite Fridays[edit]
Heya Gaile, I was browsing through the Press section of the Guild Wars website today and noticed that a bunch of the fansite friday interviews are now 404 errors, directing to pages, even websites which no longer exist. Does the text of those interviews still exist? If it does do you think that it'd be okay to host them here on the wiki so the information (aka tidbits of ancient guilds wars gossip, which I love ;) isn't lost? --Aspectacle 06:00, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- I actually love reading previews for prophecies over again, haha. It makes me want to go see what GW is all about all over again! Experience the Charr for the first time, except in reality it's for the 100th time. Meh, nostalgia FTW! -- Counciler 07:27, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- It is perfectly ok to post the old FF interviews on the GWW. We're doing a site redesign, and I'd dearly love to include those as a "walk down memory lane," but I doubt that anyone else will agree with me, so that means they'll be lost forever, on our website, unless they're preserved in some way elsewhere. If you feel this is a worthwhile addition to the GWW, I say "go for it!" (Yes, I guess that pegs me as hopelessly sentimental about the early days, too. :) ) -- Gaile 15:53, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Gaile. I'm not sure that they're hugely important but to to me there is some value in preserving this stuff (I don't know where else I found out the Guild Lord has 2400 health.) When I get some time I'll tuck them into a corner of the wiki where they won't bother anyone. :) --Aspectacle 00:52, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds like a plan, and I thank you, personally, for preserving a bit of our early history. :) -- Gaile 01:28, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- And if you need it, the Wayback Machine could possibly let you dig up older interviews that are no-longer on the site; providing you know where to look, and providing it's there. :D -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:28, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Great! That link has already come in handy - but it seems sooo slow. Gaile, thinking on the topic, do you think the Fansite Fridays will make a return for Guild Wars 2? --Aspectacle 06:03, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- I would truly love if we could resurrect that series, and I have a lot of ideas about how it might work, so I'll see what the designers feel about it in the future. (If we did restart the series, it would be quite a ways in the future, I'd estimate, since it's far too early to do so now.) -- Gaile 20:34, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Mini Pets[edit]
With the Mini Mania Contest North American players can get Asian minipets. European players can get them through contests. now EU and NA players get Asian Mini's. But what about the Destroyer minipet, why didn't European players get a chance to get them? And i have 2 questions over the new weekend event(Double rep points): 1) Is it only the Asuran, Norn, Dwarven and Vanguard points or also the Sunspear, Lightbringer and Luxon/ Kurzick? 2) The last time you did did something like this, HM was introduced. Will this be the same? The Warior Of Timi 14:06, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- I live in Europe, I have a Destroyer :) --Lemming 17:06, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- French-speaking players have the option to exchange the Asura code they may get from PCJeux for a Destroyer one. The news is on the official FR site (as well as the form to be used to do the exchange) and it was spread around by Julien Crevits, the French community manager as well. Jaxom 20:00, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- That is true. German-language players will find the same offer on the .de website. I know that Martin, the German community coordinator, has also relayed this to the German community.
- The reputation event pertains only to those types of reputation mentioned in the in-game message. It's a GW:EN-related event, so Factions or Nightfall reputation would not be applicable. -- Gaile 20:17, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Tnx for responding Gaile, but why can't the English website do something like this??
- When this event happened for SS and LB title, Hard Mode was released. Can we accept this as the release or does it come later??? -- The Warior Of Timi 14:25, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Question[edit]
you say that talking about things so that anet will see them is best done on a fan forum could you point me in the direction that you guys read the most and pleas tell me its not guru... because if it is then your cuting your selfs off to the people who dont whant to pay a mothly fee for a forum. found out that you dont have to pay for guru.... baller. anywhoo my question still stands
- Atleast guildwarsguru and GWonline are read periodically by the devs. The forums even have areas for game suggestions and bug reports. This wiki also has a few suggestion pages, although it's not clear if they are actually read. -- (gem / talk) 21:57, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- The Suggestions pages here are read frequently, yes. --Gaile 23:05, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- Gem, I hope that you don't mind, but I've clarified your sentence to say "The (fan) forums even have areas for game suggestions" instead of "They even have their own areas for suggestions," because the latter, in English language convention refers back to the most recently-used subject, and that would be "the devs." The fansite suggestions forums, while we read them, are not official in any sense, so the clarification seems fair and necessary. Hope that's clear and let me know if you have any issues with my edit. Thanks. -- Gaile 23:19, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Mummy Mask[edit]
I tried to get the mummy mask in Kamadan only 2 times (limited time because of work and sleep necessity) but because of the lag i get disconnected right before he gives it. Please prolong the event the entire day of 1 November don't end it right in the morning so that i can try to get it again tonight. I am sure others that didn't get it yet would love the chance to get it as well. --Phoenix File:Phoenix-sig.png 05:39, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

- One of my guildies had the same problem. His connection is always a bit shaky, but this time he couldn't even stay logged in for 1 minute. Personally, I preffered the first Dragon Festival idea, where you can get a mask a week later, provided you have the neccesary items. Please consider it, on behalf of my guildmate and all other weak connection people! Nicky Silverstar 08:48, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

In game store account recovery[edit]
Hey gaile im not sure if this is the right place for this post. but ill ask anyways. a while back when you first implemented the guild wars in game store i right away made an account for it. but i never knew i was going to have to change my password and email through that acount. I have lost my password and usernamer for my plaync account. i checked the support page on the website and it says i need to give my email used for the account and all my access codes to retrieve them. i only have 2 of my access codes and my eye of the north was purchased through the store. is there any way i can retrieve both of them under these Circumstances?? Fumetsu 15:30, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Obviously I'm not Gaile, but I think this is best sent to support. Gaile really has no access to these things. Support will generally take all the information that they have and compare it with the information you have to determine if it's really you. The more information you have, the easier it is. If for example you forget which of 2 emails you might have used, tell them both. Include when and what you bought where, as accurately as you can. That's all the advice I can give you. Alaris 17:07, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well i just checked and i only have one of my access codes. I am frantically looking for the others but am having no luck what so ever? what are the chances that i can retrieve my info with 1 access code? i need to know this i really want to change my password.Fumetsu 21:33, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think you should be able to view your access codes if you can log in to your game account. Press the edit account button at the bottom of the character selection screen and there should be a "Manage access keys" option, if I recall correctly. But the best would still be to contact support, they can also tell you how to find you access codes and anything else they might need to help you. :) - anja 21:41, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- I know i seem a little annoying but id still love to get this info. i was at school from my other posts so i was unable to go to plaync.com. but i went to the ask a question link like the website told me to do in the event that i lose both my account name and password. i filled out as much info as i could, then it says i need to create an account to ask a question. i fill out all the info and then it says i need to know my old plaync account name, but i dont remember it so i put none. then it says the email i used was allready in use. i tried another email and still the same answer. then i went a created a whole new email with such a farfecht'd name that there was no possible way that it could possily be in use. and again i got the same answer. im so angry and sad right now. help someone PLEASE!!!Fumetsu 02:51, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, that is frustrating! You know what I'd do? I'd get myself a new (free) email account somewhere, and I'd make a brand new PlayNC account, and explain the whole situation to them. It should not be this difficult, but I do understand that the programming is only doing what the programming is supposed to do, so that someone else doesn't access your account. But if you make a new PlayNC account, you can give them all the old information that you have -- email address, whatever codes you have, etc., etc. -- and explain that you had to come into the system with a new account because of the situations that you've described here.
- I sure do sympathize with you -- it must feel as if you're going in circles! :( -- Gaile 05:08, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well i made an attempt at making a new plaync account, but for some reason it says that every e-mail i use is allready in use. even made a brand new email and it still didnt work, :[ im all sad now :'[. but thanx for replying gaile.Fumetsu 21:19, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Do you have any sort of "Incident" or Support Ticket number at all? I want to try to help, if I can. -- Gaile 03:17, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- I don't it just kept telling me that the email that was submitted was allready in the system or was currently in use, i dont remember what it said exactly i just remember its not working. how might i acquire a incident/support ticket number? and thank you in advance for the helpFumetsu 05:23, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I just did a search through the Support section of the website, and I think this applies to your situation:
- Phone Support
- We offer telephone support for billing and technical support issues only. You may contact a member of our Billing or Technical Support Teams by calling the number below. We do not offer telephone support for general game support issues. Any calls regarding game support will be directed to use one of the available support methods listed in the Game Support section.
- 1-512-225-6359
- Mon-Fri
- 12pm to 5pm, Central
Since yours is an account issue, I would suggest that you call that number and tell them the whole story. They should be able to help you, because I know they will create an Incident or support ticket for you if you give them a call, and that will get you into the system for assistance. I wish I could think of a way to help you more quickly, since this is a Sunday and I'm sure you'd like to play, but they're the experts, and I am sure they'll figure out why you can't even get an Incident/Ticket started! Best of luck. -- Gaile 23:42, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you so much gaile for all your help. i will be sure to call this number as soon as i get home from school on monday. and is this number a toll free number? because i dont get free long distance :[ thank you again for your help though.Fumetsu 05:32, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
MMO calendar[edit]
I see that GW is in co-operation with the MMO calendar, but you haven't posted any news about this unlike some of the other companies involved. Is there a reson for this? -- (gem / talk) 11:34, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

A quick Question[edit]
Hey Gaile, In was just wondering if a video entry would be allowed in the 2008 Halloween art contest if there is one for the 2008 season. I know this is early but I would like to enter something different than I do every year. Thank you so much (Asurafanatic 03:51, 27 November 2007 (UTC))
- I do not yet know what we will be accepting in the way of entries for the 2008 contest. I'm sorry, but it's waaay too far away to predict. -- Gaile 04:21, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

- Thank you so much for the invitation. I will certainly try to attend part of the event. New Year's Resolutions: Guild Wars Style?[edit]
I just got a note from our PR team and they'd love to get some New Year's resolutions to share as a possible holiday article. They can be humourous (I resolve to not suck in PvP) to serious (I resolve to finish my (title track)" to totally off topic, if you wish. You can post them on my spiffy new Resolutions page. Thanks for helping out! -- Gaile 20:23, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- The PR folks were really pleased with the responses, and they (and I) thank you for your contributions! And Happy New Year from all of us. -- Gaile 01:04, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Network news, date typo[edit]
On gw.com
- Planned Start: Monday 12/31/2007 3:50 pm PDT (6:50 pm EDT; 11:50 pm GMT)
- Planned Finish: Thursday 12/31/2007 4:10 pm PDT (7:10 pm EDT; 12:10 am GMT)
- Impact Duration: 20 minutes
Could be my mistake, but if duration is only 20 minutes, and it is on the 31st of December.. It should twice be Monday ^^ Guess a holiday comes in handy to catch up with some sleep ^^-- (Tribina / talk) 00:18, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, Trib. I have alerted Emily and Ron (our website producer and web team lead) and I know that if they have the opportunity, they'll get this change in place. I think that it's Monday and Monday, as you suggest. We all appreciate you noting and passing along the note. -- Gaile 05:33, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
- If it spans over midnight, it would start Monday and end Tuesday the 1/1/08. -- br12 • (talk) • 20:47, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well that's the GMT side of things, anyway. -- br12 • (talk) • 20:48, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
- That is a tricky one, because it's a straight Monday/Monday for Pacific Time, but a Monday/Tuesday for the GMT reference. Time zones sure make life interesting when trying to write these news posts! -- Gaile 20:57, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
