Linkage
So When are you going to make your profile here too? --> Iokain 21:31, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- I recently decided that I should just leave my profile contained in guildwiki, and have guild wars wiki and pvx wiki (if I actually get around to making a profile on that) just link to my guildwiki one. That way I won't have to keep 3 profiles up to date. Kirbman 05:47, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- Meh. I guess that works. --> Iokain 00:48, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

I've moved it over here. Be sure to change your preferences. Thanks. - J.P.Talk 05:28, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
Your templates...
... won't work. This is not wikia. Also feel free to participate in this discussion. poke | talk 23:32, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
- That's why I have to modify them, they'll only be based on the ones I made on Wikia because standard MediaWiki templates aren't included in the GWWiki database for some reason. -- Kirbman 23:39, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
- Please read that discussion, the actual code for that idea is already completed and just waiting for some more comments before getting implemented, so you can easily save your effort :) Btw. "standard MediaWiki templates" is wrong. Wikia uses a lot extensions (many of those are highly unnecessary for a wiki), and they are definitely neither standard, nor templates. poke | talk 23:46, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
- True, but the templates that are causing the problem by not being here are standard MediaWiki templates. Also I've already figured out how to fix it. But I'll look into the existing code first. -- Kirbman 23:50, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
- Could you please link me to the existing code? -- Kirbman 23:56, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure that extensions are, by definition, not standard. -- Armond Warblade{{Bacon}} 23:57, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
- Haha my friend just said the exact same thing. They're not necessary, but they're still fairly basic extensions unless you don't want to be able to manipulate strings. -- Kirbman 00:10, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- OK, the Zaishen Mission template is working, the other two will be working soon. :P -- Kirbman 01:39, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- Once again, I think you've totally missed the point of poke's original post. He's got the coding finished, and pointed you to the ongoing discussion regarding it. You did not comment there, but continued doing your own thing. And you've missed the point that he referenced me to a discussion about how the Zaishen Challenge Quest page should be formatted. There is no mention of actual code aside from Poke saying that the table (which is currently hardcoded) "will be fully automated", so I looked for code, found nothing, asked for a link to the code, got no answer. I've already made working templates to predict the quests. These have nothing to do with the formatting of the table or whatever, so you can go and display the quests however you'd like (I prefer my calendar), but now you have a simple and reliable way to do it despite jumping all over me for trying to help. -- Kirbman 05:13, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- You waited, what, an hour between asking for the current code and going back to doing your own thing? Poke went to bed before you asked. Wikis move a lot slower than that, bro. -- Armond Warblade{{Bacon}} 05:27, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Admin Noticeboard
Why would you post that on the AN? You have already posted about it here which is where it belongs..... -- Wyn talk 04:35, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- wtf man? That's the admin noticeboard, not the community portal. --JonTheMon 04:37, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- You could have used Guild Wars Wiki:Requests for comment. --Silver Edge 04:38, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- We could also not all jump down his throat. -- Armond Warblade{{Bacon}} 05:34, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I put it there because only admins can edit the main page, not to mention that there would be no reason to put it on the community portal as the general community doesn't need to know how things work, especially if that opens an opportunity for vandalism. If I get pounced on like that for posting a notice for the admins on the "admin noticeboard" maybe I should just stop helping out around here =/ -- Kirbman 06:42, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- You are just so wrong on several points dude. The reason there is a separate page for suggestions to changes for the main page is so that the community at large can comment. And YES, the community at large decides HOW things works and so yes they DO need to know how things are set up. If something vital becomes a target for vandalism, it is temp protected, or semi protected at that time. We don't hide how things work around here. -- Wyn talk 09:18, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- Besides, Main Page/activities is semi-protected nowdays. You should take the discussion about zaishen quest templates over there. - J.P.Talk 09:31, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, so you brought it to the admin noticeboard because you need admin rights to put it on the main page. Why didn't you mention that in your note? That would have gone a long ways towards avoiding a post that sounded like an advertisement for your templates. Oh, and was said above, the general community should be involved in things. --JonTheMon 14:31, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- Again with the jumping down peoples' throats. Christ, people, it's not hard to explain things without treating the explainee like an idiot (even if I rarely do it). -- Armond Warblade{{Bacon}} 16:29, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- Well, Kirbman, I apologize if my questioning why you put it on the AN comes off as "jumping down your throat". I was trying to find out your reasoning, because I have gotten the impression you don't really understand how some things work around here..... -- Wyn talk 20:37, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- That's to be expected with any user, but mostly relatively "new" users, which I think is something many people forget. -- pling 21:21, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'd like to apologize for the tone of my first comment also. I suppose one reason I was harder on you was because of your apparent wiki experience, working with templates and all. That gave me the impression that you were familiar enough with wikis to be able to use this one well enough and handle users. --JonTheMon 21:47, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Oh well, my post is no longer on the AN and at least one admin (Jon) has knowledge of the templates, so everyone can be happy. The templates are at your disposal. Sorry for any calamity I caused. -- Kirbman 05:16, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
- Also, thanks Armond. =) -- Kirbman 05:17, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Hopeless Romantic
Did you read the talk page? There isn't consensus there. --JonTheMon 20:10, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
"'Hopeless Romantic' is such a common and old term, I doubt that it's really referencing to a song by a band from the late 80's."
"Perhaps we could attempt to recieve confirmation on whether it's related or not?"
"The burden of proof should be on those who wish to prove (as best as possible) the supposed Trivia, not on disproving it."
- Its a common term refering to the type of person that the quest is about, the album is named after that term, and the discussion page says it should be added it there's evidence of it but none was ever given. -.- -- Kirbman 22:05, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- And the last note says it was originally added by an Anet writer. That seems like a pretty strong trump to me. --JonTheMon 23:48, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Only if he was the one who named the quest, which he hasn't claimed to be nor is there evidence of it. -- Kirbman 05:53, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
- ...and if you look at his user page, then you'll also know he was part of the team that worked on GW1 quests and the BMP, so if anyone knows, then it would be him. --Lania 14:08, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
- He doesn't have to be the one, but if he's not then its no more reliable than if I went on there and said it first. -- Kirbman 20:16, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- I think you mean "it's no more reliable than if I worked at Anet and I went on there and said it first" --JonTheMon 20:18, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- He doesn't have to be the one, but if he's not then its no more reliable than if I went on there and said it first. -- Kirbman 20:16, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
No, I mean what I said. -- Kirbman 20:37, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- You're not making any sense, why would some random Joe adding random trivia be as reliable as trivia added by an actual Anet employee who worked on making and designing quests. --Lania 20:40, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- Because, if he's not the one who named the quest, you're making the assumption that not only do all of the quest designers know each other, they all know each others' thoughts. -- Kirbman 20:44, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- So he can't walk across the room and say to the designer "hey, that quest, were you thinking of this?"? --JonTheMon 20:45, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- If he knows who it was, and they're in the same room at the time. I could just as easily email the person who named it and ask if I knew who it was. He was probably just trying to help out like the rest of us. -- Kirbman 20:47, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- You're also making assumptions that he doesn't know anything about the quest, and that he conjured the trivia note out of thin air. Knowing the facts that he is a Anet employee and a quest designer, which is more plausible? That he conjured the note out of thin air, or that he actually knows which song the quest name was based on? I would say that the latter is much more plausible even though the former is possible. For trivia notes, generally, if there is reasonable evidence that the quest was based on something, we keep the note. Anet employee adding the note is generally reasonable evidence. Are we 100% sure that the quest name was based on that song when it was designed? No, but we are very confident about the accuracy of the note. If you want to confirm it go ahead and contact john stumme yourself if the trivia note bothers you. --Lania 22:17, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
