Skill Notes[edit]
Can you please refrain from spamming notes on skills; others would probably disagree with what I'm saying here, but I've noticed on many skill pages that you've placed notes that either are not true nor are they necessary since they are under-powered skills or skill combinations. Read the skill over and over before making a decision to write a note on the page. This game has a very complex skill system; even, veterans have trouble remembering all of the skills, which ones are best, etc. This is just one example:
- Steve1 (Undo revision 2581240 by Ooola) (keystone sig has a recharge of 15 secs - do the math and see how far you can go with a low level of insp.)
- — Foxman525(talk) 21:55, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- Fine, I will admit that the Signet of Humility note was stupid, what I meant with that was that you could combine it with Symbolic Celerity and thus use it with a low level of inspiration magic. Either way, most of the notes I put up are not underpowered, they are just different from the meta.
It is as you say, this game has a very complex skill system and that is the most important reason to why I play Guild Wars rather than Guild Wars 2. But it makes me really upset when people say things like "they are underpowered skills" to any skill combination that isn't listed on the pvx wiki. I like this game because of the endless possibilities with the skill combinations, and when you combine skills, even skills that may seem useless at first sight, can become extremely strong.
That is why i list these notes, to highlight the skills' strengths instead of just leaving some skill pages blank because they are "underpowered". It makes me really upset that people only accept pvx builds nowdays, and leaves no room to try and find new skill combinations. Did you for example know that the note i removed from Iron Mist was actually true? :)--Ooola (talk) 22:52, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- If your research on Iron Mist is correct, then you should re-add that note. That would be a really insightful note.
- I applaud you for trying to come up with new and cool combos. But if you wanna add notes to the official wiki, then there should be some substance to it imo.
- Your note on Savage Shot is fine, I'd say (but then it's a staple skill for rangers in PvPvE anyway). But things like the Blessed Light, Mighty Was Vorizun or Scribe's Insight stuff are meh at best.
- Noone's keeping you from trying out and testing combos. But not everything you personally might enjoy might be worthy being posted on this wiki. And that has nothing to do with PvXwiki btw. Steve1 (talk) 23:34, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- I apologize if your feelings were hurt by my comment, but you must understand that was not my intent. I agree with Steve1 in that some things just should not be added to the direct page.
- Advising you to put such comments on the talk pages, I think that your contributions would be much more appreciated there, and more specifically it would be easier for you to explain your reasoning on such when doing so.
- There are still some of us active in game and on the wiki, so please don't think that your comments will go unnoticed. For the record, I love diversity, and I am working to show diversity constantly; as such,
- I urge you to continue your research and contribute to this wonderful game that I find to be enjoyable for the same reasons as you have said. (^_^) — Foxman525(talk) 01:27, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
- Out of curiosity: What is the point of edits like that: http://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Golden_Fang_Strike&curid=51827&diff=2581407&oldid=2548390 ?
- First of all it was technically incorrect (Moebius and Repeating Strike) and secondly, what's the point of it? If I were to search for off-hand attacks I'd go here and sort it by recharge time: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Off-hand_attack
- I certainly wouldn't browse through each individual skill's page like you seem to think.
- Please stop that flood of irrelevant notes. Thanks. Steve1 (talk) 14:15, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
Build Discussion[edit]
- So, today, I was looking at some of your builds; I just wanted to discuss the purpose and how they can be polished. I really liked the sight of this build. N/Me Epic JQ build, I love the name, teehee.
- Anyways, it looks fine except the weakness is that it would only be able to kill players, and turtles/juggs; not that it's such a bad thing, but some other builds can do more. No discouragement intended, I am just saying.
- May I suggest maybe adding Poisoned Heart (to reduce the effect of Restful Breeze (popular in monk JQ build)), Parasitic Bond (Hex cover?), and Insidious Parasite (to deal with melee players or ranger shrines) to the optional list of your build?
- I like this build which I made with the help of a friend: -It kills players, both shrine types, and turts/juggs. ^_^

- I am not sure what you mean.. the build is designed to clear the shrines with Lingering Curse and Suffering (extremely effective as long as there is no healer near the shrine, due to the short cooldown and huge damage over time). Wastrel can be used to kill carriers. The only thing i can't kill is players. --Ooola (talk) 20:32, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, missed that part in the notes. It just appears not to be able to kill shrines with just the health degen and no way of 'rupting to use the wastrels. Do you set up the degen then disengage? I gotta try it out sometime. :D At the least, it's definitely more efficient than my build for killing the carriers. — Foxman525(talk) 02:57, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
- The Carriers can't use skills, so rupt isn't needed to kill them with wastrel, just spam it. Also, Lingering Curse and Suffering are sufficient to kill the shrines alone. I just quickly give them 35s of -8 health degen and then leave it (since i got 18 Curses). However, this build wasn't the best, i realize now. There is a better mesmer build that i use with Esurge, Eburn, Wastrel, Featherfoot Grace, Natural Healing, Ether Signet and Ether Feast. It has good survivability, can kill carriers in like 6s, and can quickly run between 2 enemy base entrances to kill almost all carriers. With this build I've won games where the enemies held ALL post on the map for several minutes. They lost because only 1 or 2 carriers got though. Forgot to sign: --Ooola (talk) 09:16, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

- Yes, I used your build in JQ, and it does work. It's very fun as well. I use Rip Enchantment for the optional slot, so that I can deny Monk's Restful Breeze on carriers and also for Ele enchants. The thing about my build up top is that Epidemic does not cause aggro. :) Thank you for posting this build on your Userspace! — Foxman525(talk) 21:50, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
