Thanks for the welcome Santax :D. Just a small note regarding your "e-mail me" tag on your userpage. Haven't you forgotten an ] at the end. I'm mentioning this because it sometimes takes an extra set of eyes to see small annoying errors like that. Miko 07:51, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Hiya ^^
Been lurking for a while, but just had this urge to create a user page ;)
Always nice to see a fan ^^
Just have to get more knowledgeable about wikiscript, sure is confusing at times.
If I get it, you'll be sure to see me posting more often :P Karuro 22:14, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry, I'm sure you'll pick it up pretty quickly... the trick is to whenever you see something that looks fancy, click "edit" and see how it was done. --Santax (talk · contribs) 15:16, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Question
Yep, I'm already asking a question, well, how do I make a custom signature for when I sign? Vengeance Signet 18:55, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- From GWW:SIGN:
- "Registered users can customize their signature by going to Special:Preferences and changing the field "Nickname". The text entered will show up in the users signature instead of the users user name. Using a nickname which hides your true user name or suggest that you are another user are seen as disruptive and are not allowed."
- "If you want to use a more complex signature (for instance, including your own Wiki markup and HTML markup), you can choose the "Raw signatures (without automatic link)" checkbox in your preferences. Just fill the "Nickname" field with your desired signature, exactly as you want it to be substituted. Be aware that even the raw signatures option treats markup very strictly, and some markup which works in normal pages will not work in signatures."

- That means you installed your Guild Wars somewhere else. Just find the Screenshots directory inside whereever you installed Guild Wars. And just a side note, your signature is somewhat annoying. This is a wiki, not a forum, there's no need to add a quote to your signature. Spacing out the lines like that disrupts the flow of reading. -- ab.er.rant 02:57, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- Something you could also do is save a screenshot, then look at where it says it saved to in your chat. --File:Rein Of Terror-sig.pngRein Of Terror (talk · contributions) 12:39, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

- Sorry about the quote, the first time was real, but after that I thought it was dumb so I thought I cancelled it, but I used a certain Program on my computer that for some reson always automatically typed it.I dont know why because even though it is a writing program, it didnt mention that. I didnt notice it until recently, so now I have that feature/program uninstalled. I do not remember what the feautre/program was because I uninstalled it from my computer.--Raph 19:30, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Ban notice on J.Kougar
Don't place ban notices on user pages please. It only incites more furstration on the part of the banned user. In fact, it entices those with the know-how to find a proxy and use it to remove the ban notice. We're not into public floggings here and only a user may edit his own user page anyways. Thanks. --Karlos 18:24, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

User policy
Sorry to be the evil one, but I just wanted to make sure you are aware of the part in the user page policy that says you should not apply special formatting to your talk page (here). That nice box at the top is no problems, it's the formatting of all comments. I think the main reason is because it can really mess up comments if someone is doing something else that just writing text. - anja 12:05, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Question
I have been working on a little something in my spare time...
I am done most things for it other then making it pretty.
However I would like to know is it possible to have a php function added?
If so how do I go about requesting it to be added. Chik En 20:29, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I'm aware, MediaWiki runs off PHP, but to be honest I don't know a whole lot about programming languages. If you're talking about putting a PHP function on a page I doubt you could do that, however if you explain what you're working on to GWW:TECH then you might be able to get something sorted out. Hope I could help! --Santax (talk · contribs) 15:52, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Screenies
Heya Santax, was just curious to know where you found these two pics [1] [2] they're really good =] --Alien 17:37, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Damn, those are so clear that you'd almost think that a NDA has been violated. Where DID you get these from Santax? They're obviously not {{screenshot}}'s, unless someone with alpha(/beta)-access did those. -- (CoRrRan / talk) 17:46, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- They're part of a hi-res (like 9000x8000pxish) leaked GW:EN map that's been floating around... the entire map has been retextured and had those new areas added. I did have a map of the Charr homeland, too, along with two other explorable areas that seem to belong to no particular region, but I appear to have accidentally deleted them. I'll see if I can find the image and get the maps again. Also, sorry about the low compression quality of that Far Shiverpeaks map... the server is configured so uploads over 2 megabytes aren't allowed so I had to save it in MS Paint. --Santax (talk · contribs) 17:52, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Any off site links to that map? I'm interested. And why not use IrfanView, together with the PNGout-plugin to get the image below 2MB in PNG format? Currently there's a big difference between 2MB and 500+KB... (And you could also try Paint.Net of course.) -- (CoRrRan / talk) 18:12, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, there's an offsite one here. It's a biiiiig download though... 22.9 megabytes. It crashed my pitifully mid-range computer a couple of times when I was editing it, so be careful! There were more links, but some of them have stopped working now... so download this one while you can, in case the same happens. --Santax (talk · contribs) 18:18, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

- You can do what you like with it, that thing about putting the results up on a server sounds good for sure! I'd have put up the Charr Homeland and the unknown explorable maps on the wiki already, but I have absolutely no idea what I'd upload them under... damn ANet for not giving us a name for the Charr Homeland yet :P --Santax (talk · contribs) 18:46, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Santax it looks great! :D It didn't take too long to download but just lags loads whenever i view it, which is seriously annoying. :S But anyway, thanks for the link! I love the new look Tyria has after being retextured. :) --Alien 19:05, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the Welcome
Thanks for the welcome Santax. Where is a good place for a wiki nooblet to begin contributing (i.e. easy pickings)? Remmy 18:33, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, you could always try and expand the articles in Category:Stubs. The subcategories are seperated into whatever you want to start editing in first. I'd start with the less important NPC's, like random quest ones. You need a LOT of spare time to get all the information you need and convert it into our formatting guidelines for more notable stuff like The Underworld and Devona. What I tend to do is take the information from the GuildWiki and convert it into the format we use for our pages. However, if you do this, be careful not to copy player-made descriptions and the like verbatim since those are subject to our copyright policy. Another good one is to take a look at your quest log, see what ones haven't got any information on the wiki, and expand them according to GWW:QUESTS. That way you can add a walkthrough and a map without too much extra effort. --Santax (talk · contribs) 18:45, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Adding quite a few files fast
Is there a way to add many files to the wiki fast?
I am trying a different style for my project and it would require a file for every skill
This would be faster and more reliable because I have found some problems with nesting to many templates and the results can be hard to deal with. Chik En 20:54, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Tyria
"it's meant to be an overview". But it isn't the full map. What good is an overview if it's not even a full map?--§ Eloc § 02:07, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- What good is an overview if it isn't an overview? Remember, we already have one full map on that page, and as it stands, Tyria (Prophecies) and Tyria (Eye of the North) are two seperate sections. If an overview of the "full" map should go anywhere, it should be in the Eye of the North section. --Santax (talk · contribs) 14:55, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, but everyone who has Prophecies has access to the full map which is included in Eye of the North, so when EotN comes out, why don't we just add in the overviews. Besides, the current overview looks alot different now compared to the one ingame.--§ Eloc § 00:37, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

GuildWiki userbox
Hey Santax, a while ago you altered the GuildWiki userbox and I thought it was an improvement. I just noticed that you reverted your edit. Is there any reason for it? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:LordBiro .
- Because now we have two GuildWiki userboxes... Template:User guildwiki and Template:User GuildWiki. If I hadn't reverted the edit they would have both been identical, which would have caused confusion (as if there isn't enough already considering the case difference). But hey, feel free to change it back to whatever revision you want :) --Santax (talk · contribs) 08:03, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome :)
But I'm not really sure I'm going to be doing much here >.> I mainly came here so that I could give some feedback on changes and current status of things in a form that someone from ANET is more likely to be able to take notice and possibly make changes, and just have my opinion be heard. So I'm probably not going to edit my page much, possibly a little if I get bored.. :3 I mostly use GuildWiki for my sources on things, and check PvX wiki because I'm fairly paranoid about my builds being released to the general public. >.> I don't like that sort of thing, I feel builds should be thought of on your own, or helped by friends of yours, not worked on as a community to be carbon-copied by random people. ^^ But nice to get welcomed anywho. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Devvu .
Lore
Why are you removing big chunks of lore-like text from some articles? - anja 11:22, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
