Hi. Talk. Ask. Enjoy your stay in my page. Vanguard
WoW
I happened to notice a comment you left on Edru's talk page. If you can't afford to actually pay for WoW on a month-by-month basis, there are free, private servers, which make WoW 100% free (since the client can be freely downloaded). See here. 72.83.211.64 05:41, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm a little wary about those type of things, I'll pass. Vanguard 14:58, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Edits to User:Drago
Is there a reason that you removed an element of a user page that was added by that user? With what justification? (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 01:30, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- I looked at the history, it was just an IP adress, I doubt someone would add that about themselves.
- If it WAS by him, feel free to tack it back on. I won't touch it. Vanguard 01:31, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- It was. Click on Aiiane's second link, he put it on himself. -Auron 01:34, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- My mistake, I did look first. It just showed an IP. I have NO idea why their link shows his own name. Vanguard 01:34, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- If you look at the page history, you'll notice that the only IP edit to the page was re-adding it back in after you took it out. (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 02:48, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Dervish Primeval
I've found a few good dye combinations for said armor set. any color + silver looks good, such as Green + Silver such as this. I have since changed that to purple + black + black to match my non-dyeable tormented scythe. I don't mean to flaunt any sort of wealth- I'm just saying they look good. -elviondale (tahlk) 18:10, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's not Primevial, It was Ancient armor that is nothing but brown. And it's ugly with any dye. I was quite dissapointed when I blew 50k+however much 5 black dye cost only for it to look like crap. Vanguard 21:28, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- Oh ok, sorry- I don't know why I thought of Primeval -elviondale (tahlk) 00:25, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

The pictures
If it's cropping that needs doing, upload them to the wiki and leave me a message and I'll do it for you. If it's just shrinking the picture, you can use the code
for a picture of Nisai that is 150 pixels wide. ——Ebany Salmonderiel 20:32, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Heyhey, that's a useful codething. That would resize them all the same size so I could just line them up in a row... I'll try it now, and I'll get back to you if I am unsuccessful. Thanks! Vanguard 20:34, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Np at all ^^. I'm actually surprised you've already replied. —Ebany Salmonderiel 20:35, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- It was funny, I was on the RC list and my name was right on top, Was all "z0mg, message." And.. yeah. Good timing. Vanguard 20:36, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Just pointing out my reply to your message on my talk page, as some people just don't notice replies to their messages. —Ebany Salmonderiel 10:54, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
I've downloaded the pictures of your characters so I can try playing around with ways to present them, I hope you don't mind ^^. One good way you could use for the names is: (the pictures I've put in here are the ones with the correct naming)
<gallery> Image:User-Vanguard Nisai.JPG|Nisai Image:User-Vanguard Namuen.JPG|Namuen Image:User-Vanguard Chamo.JPG|Chamo Image:User-Vanguard Huntress.JPG|Huntress Image:User-Vanguard Nikki.JPG|Nikki </gallery>
That will come out as:
- User-Vanguard Nisai.JPG
Nisai
- User-Vanguard Namuen.JPG
Namuen
- User-Vanguard Chamo.JPG
Chamo
(I've also reuploaded the images under the correct names for you). —Ebany Salmonderiel 20:54, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
The problem there, though, is that because you have 5 pictures, there is one on its own on the bottom row.—Ebany Salmonderiel 20:57, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- That's very neat and I appreciate the time you put into this, I'll have about two characters to join Nikki on the bottom row anyway, and eventually I might put them there myself. My only problem is that those are insanely small, and due to the dark background, hard to see. Vanguard 01:04, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry about it, Vanguard, it took almost no time at all for me to do. Typing at 66wpm and Ctrl+V works wonders on time. I agree with you on how small they are; I'll just experiment with other ways to organise the pictures.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Ebany Salmonderiel .

RE: Campaign opinions
I agree with you on pretty much all of it, except some of Prophecies. If you fight/take a run through areas instead of doing a mission/quest, the storyline is convoluted; it is less so with following the entire primary quest/mission sequence. Here are my responses to your opinions:
- Boat instead of Shiverpeaks
- Ascalon doesn't stretch down to the coast (map)
- Working for White Mantle
- Not too illogical, the lore is that the royal family fled and the lionguards failed, so the Mantle took control over Kryta.
- Mantle turning evil
- Fairly standard, they were manipulating you, they didn't "turn evil". (Maybe D&D Lawful Evil).
- Suddenly undead against you
- They always were, from the instant you arrived in Kryta. Think back to the first three Kryta missions.
- Why ascension?
- Lore: Ascension is the way to activate(-ish) your powers as Chosen. The Vizier sent you there so you could destroy the soul batteries holding shut the Door of Komalie.
- How did the game go Charr => Lich Lord?
- I am not exactly sure. Lets see:
- (1) You leave Ascalon in search of a place of refuge.
- (2) The Chosen "kidnapped", so you chase The Shining Blade.
- (3) Mantle against you.
- (4) Sceptre is the only chance to defeat the Mantle.
- (5) Ascension to activate your chosen powers.
- (6) Rescue Evennia/Infusion to defend vs Mursaat/Defend Jalis.
- (7) Attack RoF to open the Door, which holds the weapon that can defeat Mursaat/Mantle.
- (8) Vizier manipulating you; he uses the Titans against you.
- (9) Destroying Titans, breaking Lich Lord's control over them.
- I am not exactly sure. Lets see:

- This own reply demonstrates how needlessly complicated it was and didn't need to be. Vanguard 03:23, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- As I typed the last part, I realised how complicated it was :P. But my first 4 points I still agree with completely on not being too complicated. —Ebany Salmonderiel 17:07, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- "not being too..." Was that a typo? Vanguard 17:19, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- The prophecies storyline was complicated, that is true. but as a Fantasy book reader myself, it was a dream come true. I wasn't reading untill a complicated storyline of deceit and friendship unfolded, I was unfolding it myself. I already thought at my first meeting with the mantle that they were a bit fishy, being shunned by the kind of ascalon and all, but then they drew me in with their friendlyness, until I discovered they sacrificed humans, making me immediately think back to my first urges. The faction storyline however, sucked. you start in Shing yea, you do a mission and you see the problem, a plague. you do the next 2 mission and you immediately know where the whole mission is going to, just so boring. The dungeon stuff from EOTN stolen from WOW? sorry but there were instances in GW far before they were in WOW. I say i'm not happy with them being less like SF, for there is but 1 way trough it, but they still rock.Rhydeble 18:19, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

- since when were there instances in GW before WoW? Vanguard 19:55, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- every time you enter an explorable, you get your own instance... - Y0_ich_halt 20:46, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- That's not entirely what I mean. I was thinking more along the lines of Dungeons. Vanguard 20:49, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- hmm... mission=instance? no, they have a storyline which WoW instances definetely don't :P - Y0_ich_halt 20:53, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Personally, I think Factions has the best storyline as of yet. It is really refreshing to be on an semi intelligent team, instead of blindly following everyone's orders, which always end up in more problems for the player instead of less. Prophecies is too complicated, even when reading the dialogues in between it hardly makes sense and the whole 'jump form mission to mission' thing made it even worse. When I play prophecies, I always get the feeling that the whole country consists of nothing but idiots, except for me, but I am an idiot because I follow idiots. Have you ever noticed that nobody ever knows what he is doing except for King Jalis? All the other 'plans' always break more than they fix. Nicky Silverstar 08:37, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- You're right, which is why Proph is so annoying. Vanguard 17:07, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

RI I, like Rhydeble, read fantasy books, and I love all those convoluted storylines. That's probably why we disagree on the storyline thing. I like them with the real twists, where you can't tell where it's going to go next, because it has the element of surprise. You, on the other hand, prefer it to be kind-of set out, with a few half-twists. I guess that's why you don't like prophecies. —Ebany Salmonderiel 17:20, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- I like my share of twists, but proph iz just annoying. Vanguard 17:41, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- I like plotline twists...I don't like the whole story changing everytime I have completed a mission. Some twists seem too fabricated. Prophecies...must have had its own factory. Some things just don't make sense. Nicky Silverstar 19:27, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Re-explain Prophecies
I would say Ebany didn't sufficiently/accurately answer your confusion over the Prophecies storyline. You must have missed some of the dialogue quests:
- Crossing the Shiverpeaks - As mentioned, Ascalon doesn't actually control a while lot of coastline, so it's not feasible. Also realise that this was supposed to be a rather large exodus of Ascalonians led by Rurik to seek refuge in Kryta. It's not just a handful of people, so it's illogical to go by sea (where you'd need time to assemble enough vessels).
- Orders from the White Mantle - Why? Because you're trying to get them to grant asylum to the Ascalonians. This is from Gates of Kryta. You need to earn the Krytans' trust so that they'll let the Ascalonians settle on their lands.
- Undead against you - Actually, by helping the White Mantle (in order to gain their help), it's you who's against the undead, not the other way around. These are undead... you can't exactly expect them to be warm and friendly.
- Crystal Desert - You reach the desert because Vizier Khilbron brought you there. After the betrayal at Sanctum Cay, Kryta was no longer safe and the Shining Blade almost broken. The Vizier also did explain why you need to go to the desert - to achieve Ascension. Why? So that you'll be able to take the Unseen Ones and bring down the White Mantle.
- Charr to Lich Lord - In the process of exacting vengeance on the White Mantle, you discovered what the Unseen Ones really are and what they were trying to protect. The Vizier finally revealed his true identity, and learning of his plans to unleash the Titans, you resolved to try and stop him from devastating the world.
I personally the storyline of all the campaigns are nicely presented. The reason why the main antagonist in Prophecies keeps changing and Factions is static is because of the story itself. In Factions, you are tasked with stopping Shiro, so of course it's always Shiro. In Prophecies, it's a case of accidentally being thrust into the job of heroes. You were just following Rurik, and then taking up his legacy of finding refuge for the Ascalonians, then found out the dark secrets of the White Mantle, and inadvertently joined the Shining Blade (to escape the White Mantle), then led by the Vizier to take on the Unseen Ones and take down the White Mantle, and finally to save the world after knowing that you have been manipulated and betrayed. -- ab.er.rant 00:56, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps my opinion post was a little misleading. I *get* most of the story, i just think it was entirely too involved where it didn't need to be. If proph was more like EoTn, or stuck with the whore Charr invasion thing, I wouldn't be bitching. Vanguard 01:31, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. I think it's just a different style of storytelling. For Factions and Nightfall, it's more a of "for honor", "for duty" sort of questing. For Prophecies and EotN, it's more of a "stumbling onto a plot" or "accidental heroes" kinda story. I think having both is a good mix of storytelling. -- ab.er.rant 01:34, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- That's a good way of explaining it, perhaps I don't exactly like the "stumbling into it" type of storytelling, but then again I loved Morrowind and Oblivion >_> Vanguard 01:35, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- A few points:
- You're right, I forgot about the desert bit almost completely :P.
- Um, didn't the undead attack you on the way to the first Kryta mission, before you were working with the Mantle?
- Ascalon not having a whole lot of coastline is an understatement by far. If you look at the map, the country to the south of it, the one that borders with the desert, has the coastline. Ascalon is landlocked.
- Also, I love (not loved, I still do ^^) Morrowind and Oblivion. —Ebany Salmonderiel 21:05, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Role-playing
Hi, I've read your page like you asked on my talk page, and I must admit it is pretty cool. Guild Wars isn't really made for role=playing, but it is the little things that make it fun for the player. Not turning in the Brother Tosai quest is such an example, refusing to poison the Charr (in my case) is another. I am probably unique in the fact that I am a pacifist in a fighting game. :p Anyway, nice touch, glad to see others enjoy RP in GW al well. Take care. Nicky Silverstar 08:31, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- Aye, I only keep the Brother Tosai quest on the character that actually 'is' an Am Fah. Fun stuff though. Vanguard 17:07, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm also keeping the Brother Tosai quest, just to see what will happen as far as the storyline goes. If it works well, I may well make another character for Am-Fah roleplaying. I'm not a serious RPer, I just do it from time to time. —Ebany Salmonderiel 17:20, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'd like to RP more but not enough people do it. Vanguard 17:42, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- Dude, you uberpwn for your roleplayageness. Glad to see someone is defying whoever's up there. If you ever need a roleplaying buddy for moral support or to help with a particularly critical crowd, just call on me m8 (but I don't do cheerleading). --MarinBloodbane 00:47, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- What does "roleplayageness" mean exactly? :P But yea, I'm just about open for RPs about anytime. Just note some of my characters are exclusive to certain areas. For example, Nikki is mostly found in the Far Shiverpeaks in EoTn 80% of the time. She can go to Ascalon as well but that's about it. Hasin can be in Shing Jea or Bukdek Byway mostly. Vanguard 02:09, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ahh, I'm reminded of the horrid RP experiences I had back when I played Ultima Online... the "roleplay community" on the shard I played on were generally either inactive or elitist, opinionated jerks. That put me off of RP for more than a little while, and that's part of what drew me to Guild Wars and it's storyline, and things to do. I still RP on occasion, and have been a part of a few RP guilds (turns out not much has changed since the days of UO after all, which is why I'm no longer in a few of those RP guilds...) and find it to be great fun. I agree that GW doesn't lend itself well to freeform roleplay (unless you get a permanent group together to roleplay through the storylines, which can be a lot of fun), but it's there. Perhaps we'll meet and strike up a spontaneous roleplay session. *grin* --Valentein 02:17, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

(ri) I'm all up for spontaneous, I only have two limits:
- Character compatability-I don't enjoy sticking a good-hearted character with an evil or emotionless one of some sort. Conflict is nice but I'd rather not stick these characters together on purpose.
- Character regions-Some of my characters are exclusive to certain areas as I mentioned above. Nikki is a Norn hero, Hasin is Am fah(sorta), Theresa is a sunspear trainer. You can pretty much guess where my characters are exclusive too. Vanguard 02:22, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'd love to roleplay my ele through all 3 campaigns with you. It's a pity about the time-zone difference... —Ebany Salmonderiel 10:57, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Wow, you play ES3?
I didn't know you played Morrowind! I love the game, I'm in the middle of making myself a customized race for RP :); I'll send it to you if you want. I'm going to have to try the mods in your blog, thanks for posting them! —Ebany Salmonderiel 16:53, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yepperz! back on Morrowind as of 3 days ago (if you read the OTHER blog entries). I might try your race depending on what it is. I'm making an Imperial Guard today and I plan on Roleplaying hardcore. He's gonna get paid 500g per week with a 250g bonus per advancement. (Via. console.) That was my first idea anyway. The first couple advancements are super easy so 1000g a week for a level 1 might be steep, but it's a work in progress.
- My first couple blog entries were mostly just getting Morrowind to run. Soon I'll be posting actual character storylines and how they're doing. Vanguard16:57, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- That sounds very interesting :). I'm planning on doing a whole new custom scenario with a custom start; I haven't decided on what the race is yet. Also, I'm going to do something similar with wages, but using a custom mod so that whenever you gain a rank in the allegiance, you have an extra xg added on :). —Ebany Salmonderiel 17:29, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- You might need to use some scripting similar to a bank's. A paycheck NPC would always be nice. Vanguard17:35, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- I could do that. Maybe a Jiub clone of where he's ended up in the end? —Ebany Salmonderiel 17:47, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well, for us who use the "Neravarine say Neravarine Again" mod, Jiub turns out to BE the neravarine. Try another name. Vanguard18:01, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

I saw you had a slight problem with the dialogue. I also have had to reinstall after borking the dialogue :P. What you do to make only the person you want say it is in the ID box, select their ID (e.g. Socius Ergalla is chargen class), then only they will say it. I made exactly the same mistake with my wages scripts. —Ebany Salmonderiel 17:08, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

- Ok, thanks :). To check whether they need anything other than themselves, click File > Data Files, then click on the mod name. Thought of this before but I completely forgot to actually mention it, is there any particular reason you have the Blog box in a new Template on a new line? MafooUK's Navbar includes support for up to 9 links and it might look better if you have that box at the end of the first navbar instead of on its own. Also you should put your navbar on a seperate page and use an inclusion instead, that way if you need to update it for any reason you only need to change one page and all pages with it will be updated. --Kakarot 15:17, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- It's the size of my monitor. That's ALL it is. I don't want to have to stretch my page to 9 links. and I like the idea of the extra "all-link" page but that would be too much clicking for my viewers.- Vanguard 12:47, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- It wouldn't be any extra clicking for your viewers. Using a separate page as an inclusion is effectively identical from our point of view. It would just make it easier to update your nav bar (one page instead of 9+). Why don't you resize the boxes so they all fit on one line? - BeX 13:01, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- If you're able to do that, be my guest.- Vanguard 13:04, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- I always forget that people have a lower resolution than me lol. For an inclusion, all you need to do is create another page; User:Vanguard/Navbar for example; move what you have on your main page; the Mafoo's Navbar part; onto that page and use where you want it to appear. As to what Bex suggested, you'd have to create a new navbar to change the size since Mafoo's is a specific set size. I could have a go at creating one if you'd like but mine probably won't have the exact same look/design. --Kakarot 16:28, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- If you start a basic code then I'll edit and play around with it myself. I'm just clueless on how to get it started. I'd appreciate the boost :D - Vanguard 16:38, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ok I've started working on one for you here, I've tried to keep it similar to the one you have now and it should still fit on your screen ... I hope ;) --Kakarot 16:58, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- It does, and you could have used Vanguard/Navbar or something. What you currently have seems a little chaotic but I will certainly use it untill I'm able to fiddle with it myself.- Vanguard 17:13, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oops, just realized that I made it into a template without thinking, the way it is now you wouldn't be able to use the inclusion that I mentioned above lol. Going to fix it now. --Kakarot 17:18, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

riOkay, I put it on Vanguard/Navbar so you don't want to waste your own userspace :) - Vanguard 17:32, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
(Reset indent) I'll add it here since you're more likely to see it. Regarding the last comment you made on my talk page, what you want is an inclusion rather than a template because you just want to include that single version of the navbar; with no changes depending on the page it's on. To do this use the following code
. If you use an inclusion you will need to add the tag <noinclude> at the top of the navbar and </noinclude> on the line starting the table, right in front of the {| style="width:700px" align="left"
so that it doesn't include that text on every page. --Kakarot 19:49, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

High Elf, Magic, Int/Will, Blade-Alteration-Illusion-Conjuration-Restoration-Destruction-Something else of your choice (Maybe alchemy if you want it). Blade for backup. Wikipedia links on Home
I noticed that under Vanguard Explained you have two links to wikipedia articles using external links; eg: tactical formation. Instead of using the full link you can use wikipedia links instead to make it easier Tactical formation; code = Tactical formation
; and Avant Garde, the w: in front of the article name automatically makes it a wikipedia link without the need for the full url. --Kakarot 13:58, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

About user boxes
Hi! I would like to ask you if you can give me a guideline or link to make my own sandboxes and for my user page. I dont know if I can copy or modify your sandboxes directly and i prefer to ask before. regards (Sinchan 12:41, 8 September 2008 (UTC)).
- Well for one it's as easy as going to: User:Sinchan/Sandbox, and then fucking around with that page. No, you can't practice by editing other peoples but here's the basic code for a userbox:
-
- This turns into:
- So you can tell, the white signifies the fill-in. The border color, well, is obvious. The "id" is the image OR it can be a short word as well. The "info", of course, is the actual "this user is..." stuff. There's also a more complicated code for it but I don't feel like looking that one up... I will later if you really would like to know.- Vanguard 15:46, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- Lol I hope you don't mind if I <$>steal</$> borrow those. To fix your text try putting clear underneath the user box. —Blood 22:34, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Your own character table
Heya Vanguard. I saw your post on Auron's page, and went looking. The template you were using for your characters had the width set to a hard 1082px. That's why it was stretching. I created your own version of it with the width set to 100% instead, and changed it on your pages that were using Elveh's template. It's a very simple fix, just replace Elveh's name with yours. -- Wyn 07:54, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Regardless of skin color, presidential candidates have a very high failure rate when it comes to living up to their promises. I'm not sure if people were just being retarded and ignoring the fact that Obama is a politician (and thus lying through his teeth), or if they're just afraid of being labeled racist when they oppose him, but I really don't see how anyone can support him.
Electing a black president for the sake of electing a black president solves nothing. His skin color is not going to get our nation out of debt, nor will it win wars or stabilize the economy. Frankly, the fact that he's black doesn't matter. Slavery ended 150 years ago. I'm not quite sure why people are so ate up about black rights anymore. Anything Obama will do as President will be his own doing, not the doing of the black people in general (or democrats in general) - honestly, I'm offended that they brought the race card into the presidential debate to begin with. It was a cowardly move by the media to draw additional attention to the wrong parts of the election, so people focused on inane bullshit like race (and gender) while they totally ignored the content (or lack thereof).
I'm not a McCain fanboy, and I didn't vote for that tool either - partly because he'll keep repeating Bush's mistakes, and partly because Palin is the hugest joke I've seen run for VP in my entire life. However, people who support Obama will just be let down - he's nothing more than a politician who lied to get into office. All that bullshit about positive change - yeah, whatever. I've been hearing clever taglines like "change we need, change we can believe in" for years now. When he fails to deliver, the nation will say "oh well, at least he's black, that means we're not racist... right?" instead of nailing him to the wall for failure (which should be done to outgoing presidents who fail to live up to their claims).
TL:DR - Americans are focused on stupid ass details that don't matter. This entire presidential phase was a joke - back when it was Hillary and Obama, all anyone would focus on is "omg woman president" and "omg black president." Come on, America, grow the hell up >.< -Auron 18:52, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- tl;dr indeed. i guess his hopenosys just worked... - Y0_ich_halt 19:03, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- I read it, lazy-puss. I voted for him because of a bunch of different things. Most of all, because I was not about to vote for a Bush Clone (McCain, who admitted he voted with Bush on 90% of topics). Secondly, yes, he's black. As mentioned in my blog post I think we needed this. If not a woman, if not a black, I would have voted democrat this year anyway. So I didn't vote with that "omg black president" mindset.-- anguard 21:57, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- stfu Auron, not everyone who voted for Obama voted for him because he is african american. I voted for him becuase I liked his ideas for the economy and the fact that he will give tax breaks to the people who ACTUALLY NEED IT. Not big corporations that dont fucking need them. Not to mention, as Vanguard said, McCain is a fucking bush clone and I would rather pull out my hair then see him in office (and Wyn can tell you how much my hair means to me ;)). I didn't vote for Obama because he is african american and I wouldn't have voted for Hilary, if she would have been a candidate, because she was a woman (otherwise I would have voted for McCain because Palin would have been president within 3-4 years, because McCain is quite old). I voted for Obama because of his ideas and his plans. So get your facts straight... --Shadowphoenix 00:07, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- I have been impressed with Barack Obama since he first hit the spotlight during the 2004 Democratic Convention. I have spent many hours researching his actions, and I voted for him not because he was black, but because his ideals and agenda seem to be what this country really needs. I was impressed with the campaign he ran, I was impressed with the fact that other than using his race to help get out the vote (which is in itself NOT a bad thing) he didn't use his race as a crutch (never has), or as some kind of righteous high ground. I understand Auron's skepticism regarding campaign promises, however, it's up to US to help him get these things done by sustaining the momentum and maintaining pressure on our elected representatives to support his policies by being continually vocal in expressing our wants and needs to them. With President Obama in the White House, I think there will be an increased use of new technologies for communicating with those representatives, making it easier for us to do that. -- Wyn 01:27, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- What Wyn said, pretty much. I'll admit a tiny percentage of my vote was because he was black but not because "I won't look racist if I vote for him!" But more so, I think we need this.-- anguard 17:37, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

The Vanguard and The Protector Of Lighte
Hey Vanguard! I just got finished up with Protector's History and purpose and I am about to put it up. I have, however, mentioned the Vanguard in her purpose but the name is not mentioned but I plan to use it in context. You can read it in a moment if you would like but it is basically refered to as a "odd and twisted orginazation". I am not stealing your work I can assure you, I just wanted to have my storyline link with another storyline and I like yours a lot. You can read it after I post it and if you don't like the idea of her having a mention of The Vanguard in there, just tell me and I will re-write it. :) --Shadowphoenix 05:15, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- I highly appreciate the reference, makes me feel all fuzzy inside :D. At first glance I was thinking "twisted" was a little derogatory but then I thought "That's actually kind of accurate >_<". But you know, The Vanguard isn't exactly a legion you want to fuck with. Not all of the Tyrian agents have attained the Eu'Sou gene yet but they're still powerful on their own. And seeing as how they're an ARMY, eliminating "each member of this organization" is impossible. That is a fact.-- anguard 16:10, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well you got to think, the council just found out that the Vanguard even existed (which for them being able to watch all things, that seems like a flaw in my story :/... we will just call the Vanguard "sneaky" ;)). They have no idea how big The Vanguard is... yet... all they know is that they found some members on Tyria and discovered the "realm hopping" which as you may have guessed, angered them a bit. But my plans for Protector are not as they seem ;) --Shadowphoenix 16:23, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- If they have some underlying goal you didn't really make it clear or cubtle enough in that description. It seems very clear cut "We want to destroy them all". And -and this can be found out ICly as well- , right now the gate system is on the fritz due to some problems on the main-realm, which the Commander is still trying to fix. And -also can be found out ICly- they need to KNOW about a realm before they just hop to it. I doubt they know about your temple. Of course, this information can be roleplayed.-- anguard 16:27, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- The phoenixes fear that you all will eventually discover the Palace and the non-physical realms, I was conunting on the Vanguard not being aware of any of those yet ;). With that said, they do not wish for The Vanguard's technology to progress any further so they want The Protector Of Lighte to attempt to find the technology... and if she has a chance to kill a few of them in the process she has been permitted to do so. Let me fix a few things with that and make it a bit more clear that they do want you dead (well not you, but you know what I mean) but the technology being found and destroyed is the primary goal. Also, I have to say that what I have read about the Vanguard so far is just great and enjoyable to read. You are really creative :D --Shadowphoenix 16:36, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- I don't want to sound godmodey but that goal is kinda unreachable >_<. I can give a LIST of reasons why. First and foremost being, they show off their gates rather willingly. Sort of. Right now they're using an Asuran gate in their fort (IE: Guild Hall) that they program to move around Tyria but a Vanguard Gate is only put up for emergencies, and they don't always have to go to other realms. Secondly, the gates still do work it's just, how you say, the magical version of "glitchy". Only a small amount of teams can trickle through before whichever gate arbritrarily falls into pieces. (The same problem Nikki's father found the remnants of). So if you assassinated a particular member of the Tyrian Vanguard, Officer H would quickly find out and tear you a new one. And before that, she'd send word to send a small squadron of soldiers. Possibly even with guns. Into Tyria. You don't want that D:-- anguard 16:42, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Ok, so... the other day you said something about us changing from Kurzick to Luxon because they are "terribad"... Ummm... I thought our faction allegiance had nothing to do with our Alliance. I need more information other than they are "terribad". Elric Coy 18:27, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- It /doesn't/ have anything to do with the alliance but when I want to AB and not have to lose 400 times in order to get the faction points I need. This is extremely optional and my heart won't be broken if we can't switch. But I can't switch unless the alliance does. And yes, this is completely irrelevant to RP.-- anguard 18:30, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Who
So V, who did you piss off to make them want to vandalize your page? Really childish if you ask me. Anyways, I noticed your only comment about me leaving the alliance was, "oh, well"... I didn't see the point. We are very rarely on and interracting together and since our characters still dont have time to meet, I just don't see the point. It's supposed to be roleplay, but you want to skip the roles and just play. Elric Coy 15:45, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- You weren't online, I never caught you for roleplay man! I was ready for it. I had Commander M and everything.-- anguard 03:11, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- And, wow, vandalism. They probably saw me slightly inactive on the wiki and decided to take the chance. Thanks everyone for reverting.-- anguard 03:13, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, idk anything about vandalism (I am above that teenage crap)... I just don't see the point in keeping a RP alliance when we haven't once gotten together to RP an intro. I didn't leave b'cuz I dislike you. I left because we would be meeting to fill an existing storyline instead of creating a new one. Anywho... Elric Coy 15:40, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, its good to know you didn't leave in annoyance. But I was ready for RP anytime, really. I stood in my GH for hours at a time waiting for people or just talking to them over whispers. I was always ready to RP.-- anguard 22:38, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well that is good to know... Only problem is you haven't been online when I have been (or at least on when I actually have time to do something other than a quick farm here and there. Elric Coy 03:08, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- Admittedly, WoW has me by the balls right now.-- anguard 07:44, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I haven't played WoW, can't bring myself to virtually buying a brand new copy of the game every couple of months. Not that I am a big cheapskate... I've played enough online games that had a monthly fee and they are not any better than the ones like GW where you buy it once. As long as ANET has a server up I can play for that one-time fee (per storyline) vs. the same appropriate price w/ an additional fee every month. If you add up the amount of money you spend over the course of a year or more it just doesn't seem worth it. What if you decide to quit right now? How long have you been playing WoW? How much IRL money have you already invested in it? IMHO it's too much. I got most of my GW discs on sale and some were even half off. I bought the skill unlock packs and 2 extra character slots. So far I've spent less than a WoW player spends in his first year (counting the discs and subscription fees) and I can keep playing without spending any more than I already have. Elric Coy 16:03, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- WoW pays for itself, really. There's so much you can do. -- anguard 05:13, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

- Really... There are legal ways to make IRL money in WoW? The programmers of WoW allow it? Doesn't sound realistic to me. Project Entropia maybe... that game is all about money but its another financial sink hole too. I quit it when I realized I would be spending more than I made to keep myself playing (at least until I got a positive ROI) and I wasn't looking for that kind of game anywho. Enjoy WoW... You don't need to be so snide. You're smarter than that. No it doesn't pay. I was speaking in terms of the experience. There's a LOT you can do on WoW that makes 15$ monthly, worth it. Up to 50 characters on how many ever servers. So much more customization. Though, I understand that it may not be your cup of tea. I didn't like WoW at all for the exact reason of paying monthly. Was very skeptical.-- anguard 02:55, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Fable - The Horns
Slaughter a town and you will start to develop them. The horns are ugly, I wish you could be evil without getting the ugly horn (hoping fable 2 fixes that one :D) --Shadowphoenix 18:40, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, but I have Jack's mask. Will they still show up?-- anguard

A Snowscale in Cyrodiil
I've created a new page in your namespace with some spelling and grammatical corrections at User:Vanguard/Fanfiction/EbSnowScaleDraft — Ebañy Salmonderiel 08:51, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'll check it out when I'm not playing the hell out of GTA4 and Fable 2.-- anguard 23:17, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, looking at some of the changes now. A couple of them are odd, "Emporer and me?" Isn't it "I?" The rest of them were spelling, the fixes are appreciated.-- anguard 20:23, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Fable II
So, did you get it for Christmas? I got it a couple days after and its great! Of course its really buggy... but installing it to the Xbox fixes that :) --Shadowphoenix 18:20, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Wasn't buggy for me because I updated it the second I put the disc in, but yea. I got it. Beat it within a day of christmas :P. Beat it a second time as well, going on a third.-- anguard 23:18, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- I updated mine as well but it didn't fix the bugs, looked at some forums and they said that it didn't fix the bugs for everyone... I beat it yesterday, I had great fun with it :D --Shadowphoenix 06:14, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- I can beat it in 12 hours now, including doing a job to rank 5. I'm *that* good at it now. May sound like I didn't play it enough, but I've got like, 7 characters. Had, rather. Right now I'm sitting on 2 mains and an extra male character I'm fiddling with. Just to see what evil guy characters look like. That's another thing I'm doing to, being evil but pure, now. Evil/Corrupt r teh ooglay.-- anguard 20:45, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Back from your vacation?
You sent me a message online the other day... Funny, ha... ha... Didn't know you had ghetto characters that do not know good english and act like a 12 year old noob. Interesting... Not very fun, but interesting... anywho... So, you back from your stint in WoW and what ever other games have had your attention recently? Or just poking your head in to say hi? Elric 18:46, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Welcomes
Discussions have usually gone against using templates to welcome people. Using a large image wouldn't be any better. Using a large image that isn't even welcoming wouldn't either. -- Brains12 \ talk 21:22, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- Damn, I was afraid I'd be crucified for this. I figured it would be in good fun. Besides, a lot of the time I add some actual text to the welcome. A second "Besides", some people think it's funny.-- anguard 21:26, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

WTF *scratches head
Man some times I just don't understand people. I refuse to sign my comments and i get tagged with a unsigned signature comment that is three times as long as my proposed image size. WTF... I guess the trick is to bang the rocks together guys... Elric
- You gotta understand, the signatures are for showing who said what and NOT much more. I gave up trying to support because it just became mudflinging "You're wrong!" on both sides. I understand both sides but everyone is too stubborn.-- anguard 23:12, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- What gets me is the logic behind it. Someone else can use 260 bits of code to make his sig very visible (which is actually against policy) but I can't use an icon that takes up less space because some bad guy might abuse the privilege. There is no rule against background colors or font colors so what is the real difference. The only thing anyone mentioned that meant anything to me was the cache issues, which I can understand. Elric
- A lot of good points were made, especially one of Wyn's where some talk pages get up to 300-800kb (even though they're supposed to be archived after 32kb, but apparently Employees are exempt) so shoved an 800kb page with a shit load of sig images and we have a very slow load time on our hands.-- anguard 03:03, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

- yea... I give up... I don't want to make more work for some one else. Its not that important. Elric 05:48, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Not only that but loading times, man! I would say don't give up like Wyn, but honestly? Might as well. Too many people are flinging shit around and not giving a damn about what changes could come around. I honestly don't see a problem with 19x50-100, as long as it doesn't disrupt spacing, why should you care? I won't mind waiting an extra 30 seconds for something to load if people have neat sigs to look at ^_^-- anguard 06:02, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Tarps
Each trap is created independent of the others; they all have their own 90-second timer, and yes, you can lay multiples of the same trap. I hope that makes you feel better about the build. Vili 06:15, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- That's cool but I still never know if they work because I'm always on the move.-- anguard 18:06, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hey V, you do know that traps aren't really supposed to be randomly dropped behind you as you run? A trapper ranger is more of a chess player setting a trap and waiting for the patrol to walk into it. Elric 20:14, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- You misunderstood. I trap in chokepoints and just run off. Once again, I'm not a moron.-- anguard 20:18, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Wasn't calling you one... I didn't know how much experience you had at playing a ranger that actually uses traps. My apologies. Elric
- Accepted, but you've done that before. You took a semi-condescending tone like I had NO idea what I was doing. Might not have been intended but that's how I read it. As for my ranger, I've done everything under the sun except trapping but that doesn't mean I don't know HOW it works. I'm just not sure IF it's working :( -- anguard 20:26, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, you hit right at the mark, I am semi-new to the game and relatively new to the wiki. I've been managing so far, but I'll keep in mind your kind offer in case I stumble on a question for which I cannot find the answer alone :) Jf 16:55, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I wasn't planning onr esponding to you, but whatever:
1) The popups are only there if you are logged out. 2) Wtf do you mean with sold-outs? 3) Ban happy because you got banned for 3 days? Don't make me laugh.
Mini Me 23:47, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- 1) For some reason the website doesn't remember my name and passowrd so it randomly logs me off every time I leave the site. That's not me. That's them.
- 2) The popups. The ads.
- 3) I understand they've got a zero tolerance policy but they showed NO leniency for innocent ignorance on my part. It was harmless. I replied to someone on my WTS thread and a mod went nuts on me. Innocent mistake.
- So why are you taking this so personally? Unless you're an admin or something. The site is still bad.-- anguard 14:10, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- 1) Funny, I never have that, nor do I know anyone who does.
- 2) Uh, yeah. We kinda need that to keep the site running, you know?
- 3) Sorry, but that's in the rules. If I flame someone here and I get banned, I don't say "Oh but I didn't know about NPA", and they sure as hell wouldn't listen to me.
- And I'm a mod. I usually don't care what people, but what you said was so ignorant, I just ahd to. Mini Me 20:10, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Welcomes revisited
Your current method of welcoming doesn't provide newcomers with any information, nor does it make them feel very welcome. Nor is it funny. I don't really understand why you do it, but I'd prefer it if you stopped posting those around. If you have something to say to the user, do so - just don't post an image and your sig with no comment or welcome or anything. -Auron 18:15, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- I do, half the time. Sometimes I add a little comment above it. Do you want me to do those more often? Also: The humor is a matter of perspective. Many people do think it is funny, some do not. I can't please everyone. Some of them have gone without replies who probably think the same way you do but otherwise, it's simple, it's stupid, and to many it's funny. YOU prefer it to stop but it's not as serious as you're making it.-- anguard 18:33, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- Brains preferred to stop it as well. Keep it in perspective - the picture adds absolutely nothing, serves as a very shitty welcome, and can potentially drive users away. That's basically a lose-lose situation. -Auron 18:36, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps it would make more sense to link the comic instead of forcing it on people as it were, it's pretty bloody huge. Misery 18:37, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- Auron: Apparently you've missed the numerous people who've enjoyed it.
- Misery: I probably could make a smaller version but that wouldn't stop a couple of people from bitching.-- anguard 18:39, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

- I don't want my welcome to be eliminated in the process unless a real, direct and powerful "Stop" is thrown at me. All I've gotten is "that's annoying" from people who I haven't even welcomed.-- anguard 18:44, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Roleplaying
Hiya Vanguard! I don't see you in-game much so I decided to contact ya here :P. I have been developing Symphira's personality a lot lately and I would love to roleplay her. Since you are the only other roleplayer I know, I figured I would ask if we could RP sometime this weekend? I just want to test her new and improved personality out ^-^. Thanks! --Shadowphoenix 19:17, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- I can try. My online schedule is rather unstable, but I'll try. I log in for short amounts of time, find that there's nothing to do, and log off. So If I log on and don't see you on in a few minute window, I'll hop off :(-- anguard 20:50, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey, say your coversation about your sig's picture or GW2 Wiki
Try this image: File:User Vanguard Sig Animated.gif--Unendingfear 12:32, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- Animated sigs are not allowed under GWW:SIGN, and even though the policies haven't been made over on GW2W, it's highly likely the same provision against animated sigs will be kept. Vili >8< 12:35, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- That -would- have been my sig if it were allowed, Unending. But that's a long-known rule. Besides, I'm quite proud of my current. It'll probably be permanent.-- anguard 15:56, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

You think you could start recruiting for the Vanguard? Using a userbox that has each rank you can be or something? I know I'd get a userbox for it :D Btw, you don't know me, am new to wiki, but loved the Vanguard story. Sentry007 23:21, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
