DDO really isn't "free" if you want to get at all serious about it (past like level 7). There are just too many restrictions on people who don't pay. The auction limit, the chat limiter, the non-priority when login queue is full, etc... (Buying anything at all from their online store makes most of these go away forever, though, so I guess spending $10 or whatever is as good as free.) Though, if I remember correctly, you mostly play DDO for the roleplay aspect, so that wouldn't matter as much. Vili 点 01:06, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

I've been informed they removed that ridiculous level cap thing, and added only a few new things to help boost the leveling for free players. But it's true, you may need to put some money into it to enjoy it fully. Best go install Allods, really. Fully free, and everything important is available to you. There IS a cash shop to buy some useful things but you can get by. The downside to Allods is, you really need to do some research (via their forums), plan your character properly or you might be forced to reroll entirely.-- anguard 01:43, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

First and foremost, I have no idea how. I tried. I could never get it to work. Besides, SS/LB gets me ranks (one of them is actually useful), and money all throughout. I got 7 lockpicks the other day. But this section is outdated, I just took the pet into PvP at level 12. It's 16 now. agro the animal in the menagerie (not where wyn is but in the wild). then kill yourself for a few hours. just use bip the first thimes then make you have 1hp or something and use ressurect with gwen or norgu. it works like a charm the last thime i used it. i even leveled a white moa and christmas bear at the same thime. just make sure it stay's in agro range. ps: 7 lockpicks? how come i'm never so lucky? :( Rhonin Soren 16:23, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Except that my in-game online time is dictated by how tired my brother is. We have 1 computer with the games on it. And I use a shitty laptop that craps itself when it opens Solitaire, so I can only do simple things like... type stuff. So stop trying to give these "Better than thou" strategies. Mass Effect

You are doing it wrong. Shotguns are awesome. Grind those as a soldier at low level, kthnx. Assault is very pew pew, but by the time you get to the ending, your character is so powercreeped already that everything dies with one hit.

Try the maximum difficulty with soldier, but grind sniper instead. obaby, no room for error. NuVII 23:27, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

I actually -have- been working on sniper next. And shotguns can be pretty nice, my vanguard class uses them along with some pretty beefy pistols. But snipers are pretty damn situational and those situations don't come up very often.-- anguard 17:02, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Snipers are the best. One shot kills, but you gotta be pretty good at aiming and being patient. Not much pew pew, but the max setting doesn't allow for much else other than waiting two minutes between engagements. NuVII 17:08, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Grenades are weak to me, especially when all my other weapons are better choices. I use grenades for utility, like if there's one or two enemies behind something and they're a bit scared to come out. But even then, I can zergrush their asses myself.-- anguard 20:30, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

See, all that sounds dumb. M is a god of madness but I have several balancing factors. You just say "he's invincible!" But if you want roleplayers to take you seriously, you need to have a backdoor for that, and you need to keep that fact on a downlow.-- anguard 04:07, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Coulda gone that far if we got some games running, but my friend's selection is... limited. He likes to trade in everything (even entire consoles) when he beats a game or whatnot. Yea, you murder someone. Or just kill someone in at least 1 non-evil faction... doesn't even have to be murder sometimes. Play long enough, everyone gets that "Your deeds have been noticed by forces unknown" message. Even after you're approached by Lahance, he shoves a weightless dagger in your pockets and it's optional. Like everything else in the game, it waits for you. This is all really impressive, the lore, the character bios. I've been looking for a role player for months now I'd even lost hope of finding a decent one, but then to stumble on this it's a gold mine. I really hope I get the chance to meet you. Ah thank you both for your wonderful compliments. The Vanguard Concept along with every character involved in it is something I've worked on for several years. I'm always glad to see my work is appreciated. The computer with GW on it is having an internet problem so I'm using my mother's laptop to play WoW, but I'll hop on GW periodically, when I can. Got a wireless router on order right now. Just need a slight bit o' time. I hope to see you around. I did however just get 3 months of Xbox Live so I might be able to formulate some jokes regarding TF2 or Half-Life. If not then... yea. Didn't care much for the game. It was epic fun the first playthrough, especially since my first playthrough was with a friend. But there is NO replay-ability value.
