Ok.. so I will never let anyone convince me that running a dual operating system is a good thing ever again... I have been without a computer for over 24 hrs and it's going to take me a while to get everything back in working order. Hope you've missed me! -- Wyn 21:27, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- I sure have! Here! :D I put it on RfC, but nobody seems to have noticed it yet. I hope you're not mad at me for implementing such a large change in the project you started, but to me it seemed like the right thing to do to get it going again. Any comments are welcome. :) — Why 21:47, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- I would of missed you, but I haven't logged on/checked the wiki in around 17 hours myself; mainly due to work, GW as well as other games. As to your computer problems, I'm just curious but what kind of problems did you run into as well as which operating systems were you using. --Kakarot 03:57, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

- Awesome. lol Win7. Yeah, I would rather build a computer than use a pre-existing one for beta tests, especially for OS's. --Antioch 05:21, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Just a note, running dual operating systems isn't too bad, just not recommended to do it with betas unless your REALLY careful. I know some people use Virtual Environments to run betas like that (ie Virtual PC 2007) --Stu 15:33, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

- Rather than installing two OSes, if you have the RAM, it's even better to run VMs. Much more flexible than dual OSes. -- ab.er.rant 02:02, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Ok Wyn, i think its time we made up.
Hi im sorry about what ive done to you it was wrong of me, your doing great work on the wiki, you have probs won the Bcat Election so well done. (Update: I think Brains12 won sorry :()
Hope you make up.
By the way i hope you can help me because ive seen you design other peoples pages and stuff and i would like to see wha you could do to mine since im starting to help GWW now with a few things and i would like to have a fancy page :).
Ok, Bye :) (You havent replied in a while, Please do)
-- Yo Jm 18:20, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- What would you like me to say? I have several relatively easy to user templates for userpages. Currently I don't have the kind of time or attention span to do pages for other people. You should work on it yourself, start with a page you like, copy it, and then modify it. Wiki code isn't that tough, and if you run into problems, there are plenty of people who are happy to help. :D -- Wyn 19:11, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Hmm Ok, btw im the guy you got mad at for textmod so thats why i wanted to make up. What program do you use to make images animated? (By the way my page is fine now i just need a program to mke images animated) -- Yo Jm 05:47, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Cant seem to get the hang of this...
Hey, sorry for bugging you again, But it seems I still need some practice with template making. I updated my userspace a bit, working on making it better formatted. I just updated my Navbar, and wanted to see what it looked like while logged-out in order to see what it looks like from other's point of view. It seems I did something wrong, cause for some reason the background wants to poke out from the borders and pretty much ruin what I was trying to do. Think you might see what I did wrong? If you look at my Template page both logged in and out, youll be able to see it when the whole page has been re-formatted. It has the same effect however on all of my pages.--Neithan Diniem 02:49, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Suggestion Tag
It says suggestions will be deleted unless moved to user space... I didn't think we were allowed to delete content from a talk page unless it broke NPA? 58.110.136.155 10:54, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- In general, people aren't allowed to delete content from talk pages unless it violates the wiki's rules (NPA, copyvio, generic vandalism, etc). Basically, we don't want people deleting comments from talk pages just because they don't like it, disagree with it, just feel like deleting it, or want to hide something (like previous warnings from admins). That said, we are currently in a position, for reasons too long to go into here, where the devs cannot legally accept feedback (including suggestions) on the wiki. We're working on fixing that, but even when fixed, it will only apply to what's added to the wiki after that. Thus, feedback on Linsey's (and other devs') talk page(s) is getting deleted because, quite simply, there is no value to retaining it in any way, versus the detriment of adding to an already cluttered talk page and already cluttered archives. - Tanetris 16:18, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

You hit 'em high, I'll hit 'em low. It would help if I remembered to add and remove tags and such, but you tend to forget things in the middle of a milti-task rush. :P Thanks for the catch on those. — Jon Lupen 18:15, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

User Animated Images
Hi wyn, ive seen you designed certain animated user Pictures like Sentrys and Kakarots so i was wondering if you could make mine a little animated. Cheers -- Yo Jm 18:53, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- The animated monograms take anywhere 10-14 hours to get right. Right now I not only don't have the software installed (I had to reformat 3 days ago) I also don't have the time available due to real world concerns. I use Adobe's Image Ready to make them though. Sorry. -- Wyn 18:57, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Look around Zaishen Menagerie Grounds, she's not hard to find. Also, you can indent your comments by adding a colon : before your comment. People usually add one indent more than the last comment's. See how I've indented as an example. -- Brains12 \ talk 19:13, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Table help?
Hy Wynthyst, I know you are busy, but I would like to know if you could help me with a formatting problem (or tell me who I could ask for help). I'm trying to make a table in my userspace loosely based on your templates (here), but I have two problems:
- I don't know how to set each column's width. I looked at the MetaWiki guilde and it mentioned adding a "width=xxx" command somewhere, but I have no idea where, in the table code, I'm supposed to add that line.
- The text within the cells has a weird size. The titles have the size I wanted them to have, but the rest of the text is way too big (the parts with the bullet points). I have tried using a style="font-size:70%" parameter but that isn't working for some odd reason.
Any idea on how I could fix those two problems, or who could help me if you're busy? Thanks. Erasculio 02:07, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I can try, the column width you set for each column in the first row, so it would look like
!width="x"|<content>|width="x"|<content>|width="x"|<content>
- As for the text, the ! at the beginning of the line designates the row as being bold and centered and your style sets the font size at 120%. Since your lists are contained within the same row, that is how they will appear. See: User:Wynthyst/Sandbox/Erasculio -- Wyn 02:31, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- If you didn't want to split them into separate rows, you could also set the font size in the span style of the header text, rather than the row style. -- Wyn 02:33, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- I've got a blatant ripoff of the hero skill trainer template on my sandbox if you like: User:Tanetris/Sandbox#Subst - Tanetris 02:45, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks to both of you, those are great solutions : ) When I have time I'll experiment with them. Erasculio 02:02, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Why are you keeping obscenities on Adrin's user page?
Adrin's user page is infringing on my right to reasonably view pages on this wiki without random obscenities popping up. I request that the image on his user page be removed as I find it offensive.72.71.220.203 03:32, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- We don't censor for language, and Adrin is welcome to have Guild Wars content on his page. You do not have the right to remove it. You can ask him to, but if you remove it again, you will be blocked. -- Wyn 03:34, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- I don't find that image at all obscene, it is a screenshot from within a game I have been playing for over 3 years. Continuing to push this issue, as well as the name blocks is not going to further your cause in any way. -- Wyn 03:36, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

- They were creating a fantasy landscape that was suppose to give the impression of being inside of a living organism. To find it obscene is just ridiculous. This is just the newest ploy by the ArenaNet hate mongers association to create hate and discontent amongst the community because they feel they have been personally wronged by having been banned for their actions. It isn't going to solve anything, or change anything. -- Wyn 03:40, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- I haven't been blocked. I'm seriously offended by the crap that Anet is inserting into their later chapters. Are they trying to get an M rating? Anyway, don't group me with the others(Shard, Adrin, etc) because I'm not one of them72.71.220.203 03:42, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well, considering that Nightfall has been out for 2.5 years, starting to complain about the artwork is rather stupid. The only thing that continuing this line of complaint is going to get is the complete removal of Guild Wars from the marketplace, since they are not going to rework all the so called offensive material being listed on Adrin's page on a 4 year old game. It's more cost effective for them to just pull guild wars completely and concentrate their resources on Guild Wars 2. Their games have been reviewed and rated Teen by the ESRB. Obviously THEY don't find this stuff as offensive as you do. -- Wyn 03:51, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- I don't believe there will be a change unless it was explicitly stated (Lol, testicles) or indirectly implied (Corsair Prisoner). --Riddle 03:56, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Linsey's Page
I've noticed topics are being added faster than they're being archived. Can't you just move (or remove) topics that disregard the notice at the top like you guys did for izzy's page a while back? Her page is getting cluttered to the point where it's impossible to find anything. ~Shard 22:31, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I can't archive what she hasn't answered. Unless the answers are provided elsewhere (questions about the update from before the update etc.). There are very few suggestions remaining on the page, and those will go away tomorrow. Unfortunately we are fast approaching the point where it's going to have to get locked again, since people can't quit having long discussions among themselves on her page. -- Wyn 22:49, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- You could add an "evil admins will move discussions unrelated to Linsey to your own talk page, beware" notice to the page, if Linsey agrees, that is, perhaps? — Why 22:53, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Well, if there were any evil admins then maybe that might work. However, simply moving discussions to the respective user talk pages would not eliminate the topic. Linsey knows she needs to spend some time answering, but right now her priorities are 1. getting some of the bugs fixed, and the upcoming skill update, 2. her physical and mental health, 3. is answering questions on her wiki page (which is outside not only her job description, but also is done on her personal time). -- Wyn 23:10, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

(ri) For the record, the note I left about archival can be archived. And looking at the discussion about the Rainbow Phoenix that I thought shouldn't be archived to Bugs... that could probably be archived (since it doesn't seem like anyone else is going to talk about it). --Nkuvu 00:04, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- @ Wyn evil defined. You sure there is no evil admins? ;). Anyways Linsey (or any well known AreaNet staff), their talk page will be a mile long. We have to wait for it to be answered and dated until we archive it to prevent a "why did you archive it while it was still being discussed" issue. Dominator Matrix 06:49, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- What is it about Linsey's page that brings out the useless post in people? I mean, don't get me wrong, it's nothing against Linsey, but there are more devs out there who's talk pages aren't nearly as explode-happy as Linsey's. WTF? (Satanael 16:04, 7 May 2009 (UTC))

- Yes, he does, but the range of questions he can answer are is much smaller than Linsey's since he deals specifically with the coding/programming end of things, while Linsey deals directly with the concepts. -- Wyn 19:37, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- I think it's because many don't know who does what and don't know where to go. So they choose the person who think they should go to and because Linsey's page is mostly so full they think she is the right person. Anyway they should add a rule that rants should not be allowed and will be deleted when noticed or something similar. Qaletaqa 20:01, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry if i had any offend during my idea of a featured user, i just used you as an example for what it would look like -- Yo Jm 19:13, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- It's ok, it's just a bit embarrassing to get my name splashed all over like that. Let them finalize the layout and get it implemented before starting to add new stuff that hasn't been proposed or discussed. There is a complete project built around the Featured article section that's been in discussion, figuring out how to choose the pages, and now how to incorporate them into the main page. Personally, I think the Featured user idea is a horrible one, as it will become a bone of contention between various groups of users. That's the other reason I removed it, I don't believe Admins should be anywhere near the top of the list of Featured Users if it were to be approved, and most especially not me. -- Wyn 05:44, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I believe that the biggest reason that ArenaNet does not wish to add it to the game is because they don't have/don't want to supply those resources, and they believe the fansites do a good job of it, so I would doubt they will add yet another site. -- Wyn 18:35, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

- I don't see how a software designed for community based editing could be anything BUT a disaster for use as an auction/trading site. There are however people who have lists of items they have to trade in their userspace, we could possibly create a link portal (like what is being set up for suggestions) to make it easier to find those pages. It might be something to propose on the Community Portal talk page to see if there is enough interest to make it happen. - I'm not upset Lilondra, and I understand you are proposing something, which I'm not ruling out, in fact I think some sort of portal page here on the wiki for people who wish to list items for trade in their userspace would be a good thing, since with as many users as we have, trying to find a random user subpage containing that information is virtually impossible. I only mentioned my association with Guru Auctions to try to stop others from crying BIAS on my part for "shooting down" possible competition. I don't mind competition, I think it makes for a healthier trade environment, and I am the first one to say that I'm jealous of the software gwauctions.org uses, because believe me, I understand how buggy and problematic the guru software is, I simply have no control over that, short of finding someone who has more time than sense who will develop a custom system for Guru (that is usable with other games and could be used across the MMO network, and can be integrated into VB forum software) for free, since those are the requirements I've been given by the Guru powers that be for adopting a different auction software.

Saw you commenting there, I already made another entry after you did your last one in that section and that's why I came to say sry. Anyway also came to say it'll be my last entry under that section. I wish Guild Wars had an official forum for those kind of things. Have a good day Wyn. Qaletaqa 19:51, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Good Work
Hi Wyn, Just thought I would let you know that your hard work does not go unnoticed. I really appreciate your dedication and effort within the wiki. Keep it up! Dero Ahmonati 16:06, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

- I'm simply doing my job as an admin on this wiki. The fact that you don't like to play by the rules and have a do whatever I want attitude is seriously NOT my problem. -- Wyn 08:00, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- but your makeing it your problem and everyone else who is a admin on this wiki is much kinder then you are. you have a serious superiority complex.-- Zesbeer 08:02, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- Not really, I think you would/will find there are many, many people on this wiki that disagree with you. I go way out of my way to assist people here. As for the staff talk pages, yes, I take a personal interest in them. I genuinely LIKE the dev staff, especially the ones that do take their own time to participate on the wiki, and I do whatever I can to make that as simple for them as possible. Tagging things that could potentially jeopardize their employment with ArenaNet is one of those things. I'm sorry you don't like the fact they can't comment on your suggestions. So are they for that matter. It would be much easier for everyone if you could just be patient until the licensing issues are resolved, and we have a safe, and legal space for suggestions and discussion, but you just CAN'T seem to do that... once again, your I'll do whatever I want attitude showing through. It is really NOT constructive to the community in any way. -- Wyn 08:09, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- We are just kinder because we are quiet, right? Wyn is doing a great job and I think most of the admins agree. - anja 08:19, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

- Wyn is hardly a "dick" to anyone. Although her wording isn't in the nicest manner, she gets things done and helps when people ask for help. I do not know who all are admins still, but of those I know who are, Wyn is far from the rudest one, let alone just plain rude. It seems to me you just don't like your stuff being changed by someone else, even if that someone else is suppose to change it and/or that someone else is in a higher position than you. And if that is in fact the case, I suggest you see a psychiatrist. And no, that's not an insult. -- Azazel The Assassin\talk 09:02, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- I know that I'm a totally random user popping in out of nowhere, but I really think that Wyn's doing a great job too. My first escapade here in the wiki was trying to create a sig picture, and completely screwed it up (without knowing how the revert function worked. >.>). Wyn let me know that I was messing it up, and offered me lots of resources without once making me feel stupid or unwelcome here. Wyn's awesome, and a huge, constructive help to the community. - Just because Wyn doesn't do exactly what you want doesn't make her not a nice person. I have seen Wyn bend over backwards to help pretty much anyone, on the wiki or in the game, who asks. Of course, you're not asking for help, you're just demanding that you have things your way, to the detriment of the wiki for everyone else, and that just doesn't fly. She is not on a power trip, she is not being mean, she is just trying to keep the wiki USABLE by enforcing rules that were put in place for that purpose.
- Speaking of rules, you keep breaking GWW:NPA, don't be surprised when you get banned. - Tanetris 13:20, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm at least 14 times more of a bitch than Wyn and 13.784 times more of a dick. I hope you don't take that personally Wyn, that is only an estimate. Misery 13:30, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

I could use some help....
I've put together a lot of 'stuff'. As a result my user pages are less than beautiful. I would like serious suggestions on how to make the lot of them more attractive.
A lot of the material is just 'sandbox' stuff and may need to be tossed. Other pieces can probably be cleaned up and put in the main WIKI.
I think that one key element, the 'FolderTabs' templates, could be very useful if its documentation is cleaned up.
--mtew 18:51, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean, put in the main wiki... All userspace templates, should be categorized as user templates, and are available for anyone to use. I don't see how your folder tabs are going to be used in the mainspace, or what else you feel might be put in the main wiki. As for your userspace, if you wish to create a more aesthetically pleasing page, there are all sorts of templates available Category:User templates, or you are more than talented enough with code to do one of your own. -- Wyn 00:49, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Weekend Events
Hey Wyn, where would one go on the wiki to request possible weekend events to GW staff? We haven't had a "Double Loot and Lockpicks", "Double Exp for Elite Captures", or a "Weekend to Dye For" in quite a while. :) Magic 02:14, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Mother Of All Excuses
Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for the well intentioned edit in my guild's page. But i was wondering if the ally nav is really a mandatory feature if we want to display our alliance information. 'and wishes to display that information', he doesn't wish to display that information... - I was really wondering about that part smashman, as I really don't like having an ally navbar on the end of the page that seems like an entire different section and that doesn't match my page :P the question here was that I wanted to display the fact that my guild is part of an alliance but I dont want to display a navbar. Anyway thanks for the replies. =] --Johnnyrodrigues 18:14, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- The two required templates are the guild infobox, and the alliance nav, and they match each other, and were made a neutral color so they would clash least with other formatting. The reasoning behind this was to have recognizable elements on every guild page no matter how absurdly the guild chose to format their page (I'm not saying yours is absurdly formatted, just that some have been). Guild pages are after all, for the benefit of the community, not the guild. -- Wyn 18:24, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

-webkit-border-radius
For your rounded corners, if you use both -moz-border-radius and -webkit-border-radius, it allows your page to display correctly in webkit-based browsers like Chrome as well. — Ebany 08:10, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi
Because Auron was the one who initially removed Uchiha Lena's trolling attempts, and he is a sysop, you might want to discuss with him at least to avoid misunderstandings. Thanks!152.226.7.213 07:36, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hey Wyn, just a note from an (admittedly rather biased) observer. "I've had about all I can stomach of this this week" suggests that you're allowing personal experience to interfere with your duty as sysop. If that were the case, it would be rather bad. I will comply with your request, both because I know I'm guilty here and because I'm not editing from my home, and I wouldn't want other people to suffer for my buffoonery. Hopefully you can take this to heart. 67.162.41.85 07:55, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Admin discretion allows us a bit of leeway in determining action. Considering Uchiha has just gotten off a ban, I have chosen to cut him a bit of slack, but two days of it, while being provoked by others is enough. Thus the "all I can stomach" comment. Just letting you all know the slack is gone from the rope, and the rest is left to hang yourselves with. -- Wyn 08:02, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- I should have phrased that better; I'm not actually accusing you of acting improperly or anything, just saying that it could appear that way to others. I suppose it's just a matter of preference; I prefer a more formal tone for sysopoly (new board game?!) matters. 67.162.41.85 08:07, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- That just feeds the trolls. They know me well enough to understand. -- Wyn 08:09, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

thanks for your help it looks great i have a couple questions for you.
thank you so much for getting our group picture on our page we were having such a hard time trying to figure out how to do it. I have a couple questions maybe you can help us with. we have 2 old pictures before we obtained our guild hall and new cape that we can't figure out how to delete. they show when you click our picture of our guild cape. we have newer pictures we would like to post of our guild and other characters in their place and is there a way to make them show like the other pictures without having to click on the picture. and last question is there some kind of formatting than we can use to maybe add some color and stuff to our guild page? thank you so much for your help. Jenniffer aka Diva Ceryn Guild: Avalons Wraiths [AW] --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Jenniffercohen (talk).
- You don't delete old versions, since it maintains a history of contributions unless there is a problem with the image cache (which in this case, there isn't). You might wish to read our Guild page policy to make sure you understand the things that can and can't be placed on your guild page, such as the allowed images. You can create a guild subpage gallery of images if you wish, but then each image will have to be uploaded and posted separately. As for formatting, there are several different options, but you are constrained to use the default guild infobox and alliance navigation box by the guild page policy. You might want to check out my guild page, or just browse through other guild pages to see what others have done. Also, please sign your comments on talk page with 4 tildes ~~~~ or use the . we looked at you guild page as you suggested. how do we get the gray boxes with or guild emblem on each of the catagories like yours and also how do we get anothe pic of our guild hall below our group picture of our rangers like you have. and 1 last question how do we get the box to show like yours of what things are availble in our Guild Hall? One colon, one indent, 2 colons, 2 indents, etc. This allows for a flow of discussion. Feel free to ask if you have more questions. -- Wyn 01:03, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

User page policy question...
I was reading up on the policy for the user space, does your subpages follow the same rules as the main user pages? I got to wondering about it because I saw this and wasn't sure if this was something that would be reverted per the policy since it isn't an NPA per se (a trolling comment sure, but you're not supposed to actually delete stuff, right?). I'm assuming yes to both, but thought I'd ask before anything happened! Hope you have a good day :)! DarkNecrid 14:40, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- All talk pages follow basically the same rules. IMO that should not have been removed, but it is not enough of an issue on a user subpage to make anything out of. -- Wyn 19:32, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Guild hall services template improvements
I made few small improvements to the templates, for now only on my user page, and used it in a our guild page. The reason was because previously there was an unneeded line placed, and now it's ok. Guru
I wanted to bring this up from Gaile's talk page: the Guru spyware issues have been known and recognized for a long time. Guru has been labeled as an attack site by numerous agencies. Of course, none of this is the fault of Guru. This all has to do with cross-site scripting from advertisers. I'd strongly suggest anyone visiting Guru on a regular basis disable cross-site scripting, and I'd also strongly advise against clicking on any ad anywhere on the site. Besides that, there are numerous questionable client-side scripts across the site, but none that appear particularly harmful. Of course, none of this speaks about the Guru staff - who, in all my experiences, have been extremely helpful and, in most cases, friendly, especially yourself. I also understand that the advertising methods used are required, more or less, to pay for everything that comes with running a large website. I guess I'm commending you on your ability to keep Guru running, but I would like to ask that you recognize the issues (namely Spyware) that do exist. Pretending your site hasn't indirectly infected numerous computers doesn't make it go away. ··· cedave 14:58:22 CSUTC 04/11/24
- I have never pretended it hasn't. -- Wyn 19:44, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- While I agree you have to be pretty stupid to get infected by a lot of these things, a lot of people are pretty stupid, or at least not tech savvy. It may not be your department, but telling people to be more savvy when they complain of spyware on guru doesn't seem like a very good or fair approach. Perhaps efforts should be made to try and remove these problems. I recently slammed my head against my desk repetitively and very hard when I found out my sister had managed to get one of those msn viruses that sends out spam to infect more people. I would have to ok like 4 or 5 questionable things before getting infected, after following an unsolicited and strangely worded link from a friend. She's a reasonably successful student of veterinary medicine so she isn't exactly retarded, but how in the hell did she get infected? Misery 20:10, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
