Traveling from NF to Tyria

i think there's a glitch in GW and was wondering if you know about it as well. Me and some others on GW have noticed that a NF char (so far Para and Ranger are the only ones ive seen so far) cant get the quest in order to travel to Tyria, from either Elona or Cantha. My ranger is level 20, and has all the requirements to do the quests, but when i walk up to the NPC's who offer the quest nothing shows up, although the box that appears when u enter the city that tells you about the quest DOES appear. So I'm just curious if you know about this as well. -- Brendan12303 00:36, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Thats wierd then, because on the page about the quest, some people have mentioned they have had trouble getting through from NF to Tyria. like is there any other logical reason it would be happening? because i cant seem to find any.-- Brendan12303 00:56, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

If you have one of the quests in your log already, neither NPC will give you a quest. I recommend re-checking your log. — Rappy 01:00, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Try just catching a ferry from the Consulate Docks to Tyria. As long as the leader of the party has the quest active it will get you there. -- Wyn talk 01:14, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Exactly. I am self employed, which means I don't work a normal schedule, only when clients need me and I schedule my appointments appropriately. Sometimes when I get engrossed in a big online project (whether for the wiki or something else) I can work straight for 15-18 hrs and not even realize it, or the project may need to get to a certain point before it can be put down. Categories unlike pages and images can't be moved. You have to create the new category, move the pages into it, and then tag the empty category for a C1 deletion. However, you can just create the master category Pre-Searing Ascalon, and then make the existing locations category a sub.-- Wyn talk 03:23, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

I know that, initially anyway, you were not overly excited about the prospect of this kind of a space before we got started, as none of the sysops really were, but of any of them I think you have been the most helpful and motivated in getting done what needed to get done. As for my test suggestions, they were real but I have no problem reposting them tomorrow night, since some of them were made before the listing mechanics/templates were fully figured out anyway. I second this. You're probably the person who has worked the most to make sure the Feedback space would be created within a reasonable time frame while also working as needed for something as big as this project; I think you worked more even than the Arena Net staff, and that's saying a lot. You also managed to listen to all the conflicting opinions without forcing what you wanted on anyone (with the possible exception of the purple thing  : P) and creating a new space that may actually work this time. I don't think most of the community realizes how hard it was to pull this off, and I'm sure complains will begin rather soon, but what you did was amazing and more than deserving of praise. Nice job! Well, thank you both, but without you two, it never would have gotten off the ground. Erasculio's fighting through the code to get the suggestions thing working was amazing, and I was just a lame duck. I just tried to keep people focused and moving on to the next step, not getting hung up on the little stuff. Kay :D We moved current topics to temp pages, and redirected user talk pages to feedback talk and then protected the redirects. So if you go to Gaile's page and click on the talk page tab, it will take you directly to the talk page in the feedback namespace. As far as I know, the most common trade commodoties for high end purchases are ecto (e), zkeys, and armbraces. (you usually only see armbraces offered on the seriously high end items). Small issue with template

Wyn I cannot figure out why my title and honor section on Lilith De Felidae will not view correctly. The only way I can get it to show up correctly is to put a heading on the titles section. Currently I have a "period" in place so that it will show up properly. I have placed a title link on Adira Delacroix and it works fine. Feedback page deletion

Why was it done? This is Axwind, I'm just logged out at the moment because I'm not on my home comp. But I used the name Nathe in the feedback space because that's what I'm planning to switch to for my wiki name as well. I made a note of it on my wiki page so somebody like you would know why I used a different name in the feedback space than what I was currently using in the main wiki, but apparently you didn't bother to check. The point is, it's not a registered user name. It takes a push of a button to recreate it once you have registered it. Also, why do you plan to register a different name? You can't copy any topics from your Axwind name to a new name in feedback for legal reasons, so if you plan to place any of the suggestions you put on Linsey's page as suggestions in the feedback space, you need to do it as Axwind. -- Wyn talk 22:19, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

If we are getting the change name extension I would think it would be fine, but I don't know that someone creating a new name and then taking stuff from an old name is really so kosher :P Of course, I'm overly protective of all this, since we went to all this trouble to keep it legal. Moving feedback

I'm not sure I understand all of the consequences of moving pages within the feedback space, so could you take a look at Feedback:User/undouble@comcast.net? I think it needs to be moved to Feedback:User/Undouble (who's the registered user), but he's also got two suggestions already made, so I'm not sure in which order things need to be moved to not screw things up. Thanks. Undouble already had a feedback user page (but with a lowercase u), so I moved the suggestions to that feeserspace (nice portmanteau, no?) - they should all be at Feedback:User/Undouble now.

If you're interested in the way I did it, I just moved the suggestion subpages to be under the correct feesername (Feedback:User/Undouble), moved Feedback:User/undouble to /Undouble, and deleted the remnants. -- Brains12 \ talk 14:26, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

No, they don't. This is something we just had to accept. Wyn put together a really nice long e-mail to all the devs explaining how the new fedback system is going to work for them, and one of the big things she talked about is how they are no longer going to receive those yellow message boxes, and they are going to have to rely more heavily on their watchlists. Yeah that's been around for a while, it's really cool. You can make it on add-on to Mozilla, so if you see an image you can right-click and search for it and other similar images. It's really good for tracking down photos you think have been photoshopped. You should try it the next time you see photo of some celeb flashing her panties (or lack thereof) as she's getting out of the car, you'd be amazed how many different heads get attached to the same body stepping out of the car, or how some of them magically have panties and some don't. Kinda takes the fun out of the internet to know just how much of it is fake, bet there you are. (Satanael 02:50, 7 September 2009 (UTC))

Your's is better, You'd want it to stand out to people, not look bland. Sometimes you have to Capitalize certain letters to catch attention where needs be. Advertising does this, It's not breaking the 'English' way of writing, just bending to let people know what they need to. You used the correct words, Brian just messed them up. Your's fit to what the feedback site is about and it was what was needed, but whatever, don't expect that much feedback then from those who look at it now and go 'wtf' (not spelling out for a reason) and just move on. Your's caught attention and interest as even to say hey I can input what I think is needed. Just judge from Real Immaturity to those who have good suggestions. Unique item catergories

I couldn't find any policy on this, and I'm still learning how wikis work so maybe this is silly, so I thought I'd ask you.

End-game unique items with generic names (Droknar's Focus, Straw Effigy (unique), everything for caster classes) don't appear on pages like this: [2], but end-game unique items with unique names (Forgotten Sword, all martial weapons) do appear on such pages: [3]. There are also class-specific categories, which for casters only list the generic named greens and attribute catergories: [4] and for physical classes doesn't list anything but the attribute catergories: [5]. Would it be appropriate for each caster end-game unique page to be part of every caster attribute's category?

There's also inconsistencies with "gallery of [class] uniques" and "list of [class] uniques" on class unique category pages, some have them and some don't. Which way should they be? Manifold 22:51, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

After looking at this more, the reason they do not show up in the attribute specific categories, is the way the pages are created. There is not a specific page for each attribute (in caster type weapons, staves, wands, and focus items), since the stats are the same for each. Therefore, there is no attribute listed in the infobox that categorizes these things. Same go for the galleries, since the galleries are created using dpl based on the categories. To get them added to these categories, and galleries a change needs to be made to the infobox. Let me look into it. -- Wyn talk 03:10, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Ok, here is the solution to this issue that Jon and I came up with. We (read that as Jon) altered the {{Weapon infobox}} to add these items to Category:Variable attribute unique items which was then subcategorized to each profession. So now, when you go to Category:Necromancer unique items, you will see an additional subcategory that contains all of these end game items. We chose this method rather than adding all of these times to the 21 different attribute categories for the caster professions. All of these have also been added to the profession specific item galleries. I hope this makes it easier for you to include these items. To answer Shard's question as to "why 8 pages", the guild namespace was intended as a place for users to provide relevant information about guilds for the playerbase. If a guild exists (as in, not disbanded), that is enough reason for them to have an article on the wiki, as far as documenting goes.

A guild being a "smurf" from other is quite relevant information imho. Sure, the pages don't need to(nor should) be identical, but we give users freedom to decide what they put on their guild articles in that regard.--Fighterdoken 02:55, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Guild articles creation, from admin noticeboard

We don't require users to be registered, nor be members of the guild to create the guild article, simply because there is no way from a wiki point of view to certify that the user in question is a member of the guild (hence, why the pages "should" but not "must" be created by a member).

The rule was set to prevent vandalism and attacks to guilds, and nothing of that can be observed on this case in particular, so you should be AGF'ing the creation since all the information entered seems valid. Sure, you could policy it and require in-game confirmation, but that seems childish from my point of view, specially when there is nothing to be gained from doing it (besides baning an IP for sockpuppetry, which you could do right away as per admin discretion).--Fighterdoken 03:06, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Wyn believes the IP to be a perma-banned user. That same ip's antics support this belief. As fighterdoken said,under policy we do not require people to register to have a guild page (something which i personally find annoying as it would be easier to trace vandalism if it was a requirement, but that's a different issue), however under sysop discretion one can require certain criteria to be met so as to ensure that perma-banned users are not circumventing existing blocks. This is one such instance. I can see that Wyn has decided to see how this all pans out over time, by allowing "not-lena" to edit the guild page, and it should be noted that I will be monitoring the IP's edits to ensure that it doesn't start making trolling lena-eqsue posts. -- Salome 01:03, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

You could add a stylized time stamp to your signature and simply use 5 tildes each time, but you wouldn't be able to use the signature button. Just be sure you don't make your signature so long it become a hindrance to other editors. -- Wyn talk 09:39, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Feedback: and images...

Are images for the feedback namespace supposed to be loaded/tagged with something in particular, not uploaded at all, with certain requeriments? A user uploaded a map for a suggestion in Feedback:, but i am not sure if it should be moved to File:User wakawaka, wait for it to be I1'ed (by the way, the image is not exactly "redundant" since it is modified), or if it has to be moved somewhere else or tagged with something else...--Fighterdoken 01:00, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Images are images no matter where they are uploaded for (with the exception of guild/user). That's a public full map, but it's tagged for deletion because it's redundant to File:Tyria-world.jpg. They really should register for themselves. If you wish to just have a page for them linked to your guild page, you could make them subpages of the guild, though we prefer player/character profiles to be in userspace. You could alternately make them subpages of your userspace. You cannot however have userpages in Userspace if they do not have registered accounts. -- Wyn talk 17:15, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

No, there are just ALOT of map edges in Tyria, so you need to eat a lot of rock to get the cart title. There are areas in missions that you couldn't begin to imagine by just doing the missions, especially some of the early missions like Ruins of Surmia and the Great Northern Gate. The Gate mission you will probably have to do 3 or 4 times since the missing areas have to be cleared in the 2 minute window after the cutscene. -- Wyn talk 15:48, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

If you want to be an admin, you will need to make a Request for Adminship at GWW:RFA. However, you will have to establish yourself among the other active users, sysops, and Bcrats to actually get adminship (they don't give it out to anyone that asks for it).

As for being a helper, the only things you can do are basically editing pages (adding good content, removing bad/outdated content, fixing typos, that kind of stuff) and answering questions new wiki users have. ~Shard 04:25, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
