It was an intentional nerf. -- frvwfr2 (talk · contributions) 05:55, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'd like to point out that not everyone has 600 health, and players using this skill defenitely shouldn't. 145.94.74.23 20:04, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- SO this suffer a Smiter's Boon Nerf like Grenth's Aura. Maybe he(Izzy) discovered some kind of exploit in the old version.--ShadowFog 21:43, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- This was a buff tbh. The nerf was from 100+ health steal to its current amounts. Before it was useless. ~~ frvwfr2 (talk · contributions) 21:48, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'd prefer the health steal to be changed so that all your party members benefit from it. Then it would work like a party heal (Protective Was Kaolai-style), but be a bit more offensive (and "defiant"). Tbh, though, I think this needs to be moved back to where it was and get a semi-reverted (but better) functionality.
- "Hold Xinrae's ashes for 1...5 seconds. When you drop her ashes, for every point of damage you took while holding her ashes, your party is healed for X health." Baed in PvP though, they just wouldn't attack you... ~~ frvwfr2 (talk · contributions) 12:46, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- Could be useful then if it counts self inflicted bleeding or burning.

Active Rituals Alternatives --Falconeye 07:00, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
What confuses is Anet's willingness for "Functioanlity Changes". While some are good, others lose out on fun mechanics that werent necessarily broken, just utilized in the wrong attribute/eilte skill-type. Why not "Reshuffle/Recycle" these functions into other skills?
- Examples
Instead of reverting, DwX's old function could be better served with somthing like this. It forces foes to either A) KILL SOULREAPING, B) Use non-spell skills, C) Lure allies out of earshot-range, or D) do nothing for the next 6-10 seconds while they get pummeled. (I personally vote for A! an option neither Xinrae's Weapon or her Ashes provide that led to their nerf.)
10 1 20 - (Communing) - Elite Binding Ritual. "Create a level 1...12...15 Spirit. Enemy spells fail when targeting non-spirit allies earshot of Soul Twisting. Increase recharge of enemy spells cast on allies by +5...17...20 seconds. Soul Twisting dies after 6 seconds." For every 3 ranks in Spawning Power, Soul Twisting lasts 1 seconds longer. And what of Soul Twisting original function? Improve upon it by merging it with Elite Communing skill!
10 1 20 - (Communing) - Weapon Spell. "For 15...39...45 seconds, your next 1...3...3 binding rituals spawns at target non-spirit ally location and recharges instantly. The next time you are interrupted while holding a bundle item, your non-elite Ritualist skills are recharged and Weapon of Quickening ends." For 4th proposal, we proposed this:
10 ¾ 20 - (Communing) - Item Spell. "Hold Lingwah's ashes for up to 5...10...11 seconds. While you Hold his ashes, you gain 10...30...35 armor and cannot be interrupted. When you drop his ashes, earshot party members and spirits converts the next incoming damage (maximum 25...125...150) would take to healing. For ShadowFog's proposal, we proposed these (months even before December 08 update):
0 1 20 - (Communing) - Elite Signet. "Spirits within earshot gain 50...170...200 Health. For 10 seconds, these spirits cannot lose more than 50...26...20% Health from any damage source, and gain health equal to the difference in damage." Life stealing upon drop? Love the idea, but its sorely wasted on the wrong elite.
10 ¾ 20 - (Restoration Magic) - Elite Item Spell. "Hold Khanhei's ashes for 5...10...11 seconds. Whenever a foe strikes you in combat while you are holding Khanhei's ashes, you steal 5...29...35 Health from that foe. When you drop his ashes, you steal 5...41...50 Health from all foes in the area. For Yullive's proposal, we proposed:
15 1 20 - (Channeling Magic) - Elite Item Spell. Hold Kuurong's ashes for up to 3...7...8 seconds. Whenever you or an ally in the area would be knocked down by a foe while holding his ashes, that foe is knocked down instead and is struck for 15...63...75 lightning damage. When you drop his ashes, foes in the area are struck for 15...63...75 lightning damage and are knocked down. As for Frvwfr2 proposal. Attuned Was Songkai covers the energy reduction department. Putting such a reduction on a non-primary attribute might make it too desirable for monks (anet fears monks with leet e-management skills) and weakens AwS niche. I'd be better to give AwS party healing upon drop effect, making it even useful for Communers, Channelers, and Restorers.
