wow leadership. [paragons in RA?] also I think that shouldn't be under the bug fixes section. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 22:46, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Agreed. How is it a 'bug fix'? --Combatter 22:50, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
The bug was that the text was changed to read this earlier, but now they 'bug fixed' the actual effect to match the text :D. User Judas Sig.pngudas 22:52, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Ok then :D File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 22:52, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Unfourtunetly, there's still idiots in RA who try to report you for leeching simply for zoning in as a Paragon -_-. Guess some people never get their head out their own backside. 82.11.226.30 10:01, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

festival hats[edit]

why are they bringing back the festival hat givers? i dont recall anything that usually prompts them to be brought back. the_decline 23:19, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

There was a power cut-out or something in large parts of the United States during Halloween, causing some people to miss out on collecting the hat. I think there is like a comment from Regina or someone talking about it somewhere...--Wingsy 23:21, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Because some players on the US east coast couldn't get them, beacuse a storm caused various blackouts. and since america is the center of the world they made specials hat givers, just for them. I bet if it had happened in some country in Europe no one wuold care...... --User Kyx signature Skull.gifKyx 23:28, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Explained in more detail in this GW support forum posting too. --23:31, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Why do so many people outside the US have such an inferiority complex? --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 00:50, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Look at your map, back to Europe, to the U.S. now back to Europe. Now, sadly it isn't Europe. But it could be like it without a superiority complex. 88.152.25.23 02:04, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
...While you're looking at that map, notice how the east coast of the US is approximately the size of all of Europe. So next time the entire European continent goes dark during the Halloween finale, I'm sure they'll be sure to make special hat traders for you too :P --98.156.100.68 02:13, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
According to wikipedia (who else), the USA, including Alaska, has a land area of just below 10 million km2, while Europe has just above that. (of course, the EU is much smaller with just over 4 million km2). User Judas Sig.pngudas 02:22, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps the fact that it is an American company should shed a little bit of light on this issue. I'm all for needless/senseless nationalism and so on, but there comes a point in which sheer stupidity takes over. If you're playing an online game and you live in any portion of the western world then chances are the differences in your lifestyles are so diminutive that if we all spoke one language you wouldn't notice. If Anet wants to coddle their primary customer base then I say let them. 24.13.211.110 04:08, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Size doesn't mean anything, it's the ammount of people that live in it. For example Sweden has 9 milion people living in it while the Netherlands has 17 milion people but is even less than half the size of Sweden. Da Mystic Reaper 12:44, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

@24, You do know that Anet's primary customer base is Europe which has over double the sales of the US, In fact i believe even Germany on it's own outstrips US Ownership of GW. So I think it's a case of them pandering to a couple of people who kicked up a stick just because of a few pixels, that the vast majority of others have missed in the past(for similar reasons)and gone "Oh well it's only a hat, i'll get next years". Maybe the didn't want another case of the corsair torture, or possibly because they don't want any bad press before GW2 comes out! 109.148.132.30 13:15, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Anyone can state figures (which are untrue). Last word I saw from ANet in August 31, 2010 said that roughly half of the copies sold were in Europe. How likely is it that that's twice the contribution of its home country? Not likely. The storm knocked out power to roughly 3.4 million people during its progression, and service issues affected roughly 5 million total IIRC. How many of those were customers? Enough to catch ANet's attention, apparently - so, you know. Next time the equivalent of both Berlin and Munich fall off the grid entirely at the same time, I'm sure ANet would be willing to help if you ask and make sure you friends do too. But ask nicely. Nobody wants to hear tears about regional favoritism. 71.204.139.154 15:10, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
People act like this is the first time Anet has done this... Personally, I think they were just looking for a reason to add in hat collectors after the finale, since every other event has had them for some time. Konig/talk 18:30, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
This year's hats are ugly/poorly made, anyway. Y so srs? 76.106.245.213 22:03, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Upcoming paragon update?[edit]

Anet promised us paragon update and the last time a primary proffesion functinality changed was at Major Dervish update. Does it mean there's gonna be paragon update soon? Or is this just a bug fix? -- Sagi 00:19, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

This IS the paragon update. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 00:50, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
This change was something we've been thinking about for a while to help out Paragons in 4 man areas and 4 man PvP. It's not the big Paragon update we've been talking about, rather it's just something simple we felt could help that wouldn't cause any collateral damage. It just made more sense to release once it was ready than to hold onto it.--Robert User Robert Gee sig icon.png Gee 02:06, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Robert. In that case I am looking forward to the big Paragon update :-) --Combatter 08:48, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Omni: It's just a minor update. But is there a major update coming soon. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Sagittario (talk).
In this case i wonder if you guys have looked at the suggestions for the upcoming Paragon update or thought of a better idea how to update it like the Dervish update. Da Mystic Reaper 12:47, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
If you mean the suggestions on the Feedback Portal, then yes I read those. However we aren't at the point yet where we have clear goals for the Paragon update like we did for the Dervish update.--Robert User Robert Gee sig icon.png Gee 19:19, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Yes i mean those and good to know they are being looked at, well i'm looking forward to the update but i gues we can only wait patiently untill it arives. Please don't make us to long ;) Da Mystic Reaper 19:27, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
This is a simple but pretty effective update; paragons weren't good in RA simply because they didn't have enough people for Leadership to work well. This will barely make any difference to larger-scale battles (only if people start dying) but make them actually effective in RA etc. I kind of would have preferred something which made them effective in RA in different ways, but that would have been a lot harder to balance. Prophecies[edit]

I wonder why they suddenly start correcting bugs and issues in prophecies, like Jarrel and Charlotta. These bugs/issues have been around since the release of proph, and why suddenly now correct them? Its not that i'm complaining, I just think its a little random. ~Nohjo 11:09, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

No idea what the reason is, but better late than never. Prehaps they only just found out the cause? Or maybe they finally reached them on they're long to do list. --Frizz Meister 12:06, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Or someone reported those issues on the forums. The bugs reported there seem to get prioritized over others. razor39999 13:11, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
The answer is all in the official bug forums. Since they opened up some time ago, and people reported known bugs there, we've been getting consistent fixes for them. 217.129.113.149 14:07, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
I wonder if they'll ever fix the power creep in Prophecies (that is, how lulzy the foes' builds are compared to... everywhere else). Konig/talk 18:33, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
People saying shit like "power creep" about PvE just makes me laugh. 96.233.181.43 21:27, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Those people who make you laugh like a balanced game that offers a challenge, not a game mode where HM is a little less easy than NM Mode. Those people laugh at the people who think that power creep is the way to play since they have no skills in playing the game whatsoever with their Discord PvX builds. Da Mystic Reaper 21:43, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
It's impossible to balance the game for everyone. What you and me see easy, others see as hard. New players that start with less skills won't have it as easy as a player that unlocked most skills with one character, and got ran to Lion's Arch and grabbed some heroes. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 22:07, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
"It's impossible to balance the game for everyone." Change that to "the entire game" and I'll agree - that is, it's impossible to balance the entire game the same way, and have it "balanced" for everyone, however if you were to balance different parts of the game differently (e.g., what NM and HM is supposed to do), then it is possible, but it purposefully separates the players between "hard core" and "not hard core" even more than the community itself does. The biggest fallacy of HM, imo, is the additional titles which are required for the HoM now. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Konig Des Todes (talk).
The problem is that PvE is either super-easy, or ridiculous damage/interrupt/condition spam designed to challenge overpowered cookie-cutter builds rather than be tactically difficult. (WM) 2.24.254.19 12:06, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
^and those 3 skills aren't even good examples, since the mobs that use them fall into the "super easy to beat" category. But yeah, that's pretty much how PvE looks like. razor39999 12:59, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) The problem with Prophecies isn't that it's super-easy or super-hard, but that it's annoying. Every mob has shutdown and punishment skills; in some areas, everything also has snares and knockdowns. And it isn't just one or two monsters per mob; a lot of Proph mobs are homogeneous, so every monster can do it. They don't do that much damage, but you spend so much time on your butt, or idling so as not to kill yourself, that all the fun is sucked out of the experience. Given the choice, I'd much rather vanquish a map in Kourna or Vabbi (double-damage bosses notwithstanding) than one in Kryta or the Southern Shiverpeaks. I made a suggestion a while ago that Proph could do with some big changes, and everything there still holds. -- Hong 14:33, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

Not necessarily a response to the directly above, but more of an extension to what Mith said: Not only will new players be, well, new and inexperienced with Guild Wars, but they may also be new to MMORPGS entirely. Not everyone had all of their rl skills invested into playing video games or computer programming when they were born. Shutting out novices and/or casuals just because you, personally, are not satisfied is rather selfish. As for HM Prophecies, the community seems to be divided. Some say it's only slightly less easy than NM (implying that it is, indeed, easy) and others say it's difficult in the sense that it is frustrating/annoying. Of course, Normal Mode should remain as it is simply for the newbs/casuals/anyone who wishes to play but isn't quite as "good" or "zomg must play harderrrghsfgh!" as certain (conceited) individuals.
PvX is abused. I'm personally not a fan. It cheapens the learning experience and the spirit of the game. I don't use it. I don't encourage anyone else to use it. I feel that using PvX is like leeching/botting in HA and then saying you won. I would rather fail than credit myself for somebody else's build. On the flip side, there are only so many combinations of 8- skills per profession that work and the better it works the higher the chance it is going to be duplicated/imitated. Deal with it. 76.106.245.213 00:10, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
