I hope it is okay to say here that this is hugely appreciated. My friends and I are currently celebrating our (4th? 5th?) GW1 renaissance and it is amazing to hear that the game is still not forgotten. Here is to an amazing 20th anniversary next year. Ithambar (talk) 19:50, 22 April 2024 (UTC)

Amazing[edit]

Really couldn't have been more excited. Thanks to you personally and Anet for the support. Looking forward to seeing what's in store for us! 86.90.241.44 21:08, 22 April 2024 (UTC)

Good to see[edit]

Honestly I'm happy that the company is paying attention to the game at all. Still, here's hoping for a small something next year for the 20th anniversary? *crosses fingers* [ Tyloric ] User Tyloric t.jpg [ Talk ] 03:08, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for your dedication[edit]

All quality of life improvements to the game are most welcome, visible or otherwise.

Incredible[edit]

Is this the first time someone has been put to work on Guild Wars 1 full time since 2012 ended? Either way, incredible news. I wish you much success Mr. Clarke-Wilson Soldier198 (talk) 19:38, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for keeping the game up![edit]

It's really nice to see that such an old game (we have to face the truth at some point! ) is still (yeah, good but also) have maintenance interest from the studio. I'm happy that you have more time on it and hope you'll succeed on it! Thank you for your time working on it! -- Nae Lussia Taani

PvP wishlist[edit]

Hello sir,

Congratulations on your new schedule.

If i may ask, where do you see the game in 12 months?

By the way, thanks again for bringing back the KR server.

I hope it's ok to write a pie in the sky pvp wishlist here 😅

- - Reduce after-cast duration from teleport skills such as deaths charge. Perhaps remove after-cast completely in pve.

- Allow us to enter GvG scrims while under the dishonor hex, or remove dishonor from custom matches.

- More freedom to customise skins for pvp characters.

- Integrate or remove 60/60 HSR HCT pvp glitch sets.

- Address interrupt and cancel cast botting, and other forms of foul play such as 'guild hall IP attacks' during MAT.

- Nerf a few low hanging fruit outliers in pvp, such as harriers grasp and gust sins.

- Consider changing mesmer interupt skills to have a short after-cast delay, so they have to wait 3/4 second before casting subsequent interrupts.

- Server selection for PvP.

- Something to encourage new, existing, and returning players to participate in the most prestigious pvp format; GvG.

- Upgrade UI to show additional valuable information from the player; Visual differentiation between weakness/poison/cracked-armor/cripple.

- friendly/hostile name plates in pvp differentiated by colour.

- spectating games to show energy and skill-bars/recharges.

- Guild Lord damage tracker viewable from the O menu (both ingame and observe). JPzoomin (talk) 05:54, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

"- Reduce after-cast duration from teleport skills such as deaths charge. Perhaps remove after-cast completely in pve."
This change would actually dramatically alter the game balance of both PvE and PvP. Firstly, after-cast on offensive shadowsteps (those that teleport you to enemies) is an intentional part of game balance designed to limit the speed and damage compression of melee characters. For example, if after-cast on offensive shadowsteps were removed, characters such as assassins could shadowstep to an enemy and instantly begin a killing attack combination. The reason as to why this is a problem is because shadowsteps allow melee characters to ignore positioning; moving nearly instantaneously to an enemy reduces the effectiveness of kiting, which is one the primary ways for players to avoid melee attackers. A small amount of after-cast on offensive shadowsteps allows players to at least have some reaction time before the enemy initiates their attack. This sort of thing was an issue in the past (primarily in PvP) and offensive shadowsteps that did not have after-cast at release were eventually given them.
In terms of removing after-cast entirely in PvE, that would have effects game-wide. It would be a massive change and must be considered in all aspects of PvE, from starter zones to end game areas. For one thing, PvE with a proper team setup is already quite easy, even in hard mode, and the (very common) usage of consumables further reduces the games difficulty. Having no after-cast on player skills would ramp up damage compression quite a bit, and would allow players to clear zones even more quickly. But also consider the fact that skill balance in Guild Wars is unique in regard to monsters using the same skills as players and are subject to the much of the same restrictions as them (energy pool, recharge times, etc). If after-cast were removed from monsters too, then new and inexperienced players may face enemies that are significantly more difficult than Arenanet had intended for certain areas of the game. Remember, experienced players can clear content easily, but the same is not true of new players who deserve to experience the game with a carefully tailored progression of difficulty.
It's much more likely, though still improbable, that the game receives small skill balance adjustments instead of an overhaul of the after-cast system. Soldier198 (talk) 00:36, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

Pretty Please[edit]

Hello, Stephen! Thankyou for your continued support on this wonderful game which many of us have been playing for 19 years now!

I have a huuuge favor to ask of you, for not only myself but for everyone. Would it be possible to start selling some sort of digital collector's edition for Prophecies and perhaps Factions and Nightfall as well in the Guildwars.com store? Maybe the pre order items also. Many other games offer digital collector versions and this game has been out for so long now I don't think anyone would mind. You could charge a lot for them and I bet many people including myself would be throwing our money at you. I have been searching to find a sealed copy for Prophecies for many years now and it's impossible other than the occasional one that will pop up on eBay for $2000 or more. Many of us just want the cool divine aura effect for our emotes. I have contacted support a couple times over the years asking if this could be a thing but since support is handled by Guild Wars 2 staff they didn't really know how to approach this. Maybe you do.

Please find it in your heart and find a way to make this happen. :) Thanks again for keeping the best game ever going. --Jeffy13 (talk) 15:30, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

I mind. Justice (talk) 15:31, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

Very cool[edit]

I just wanted to thank you for the return of the Factions theme on the character selection screen. It's a great track and I felt it was sorely missing. I saw your message and it's incredible to have you at 80% rather than 20%, even if it's just for back-end operations and though this begs the question of the profitability of the game. Don't put too much pressure on your shoulders, friend. --Ruine User Ruine Eternelle Ruine Eternelle.jpg Eternelle 15:33, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
