no hats

Some districts don't get the hats in the wintersday finale... --Boro 10px‎ 11:17, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Gaile is on it. Erasculio 11:26, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Some people have said they've tried like 6 times to get a hat and haven't gotten one yet. I hope this gets fixed very soon, because this year's hats are really good. :( Tender Wolf 17:37, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
I won't worry much about it. If they are half as responsible as they were before, they will either replay the event or give aways the non repeatable event rewardslike they did in other cases when the event got messed up. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 17:44, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

I too have the code50 errors for my toon that was mapped to Kamadan. My other toons that are mapped to my Guild Hall can log in with no problem.AnClar 19:06, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Yeah it does work to load a dif toon. Try to change though and still get the code. lol please fix this screw the hats!--SirBoss 19:12, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Okies...found a workaround. If you can log another toon in, go to any other town besides LA and Kamadan, then change district to another region's servers, then map to Kamadan or LA. Logout from there and then you can login with the toon that was having problems. Worked for me.AnClar 19:59, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, I found a bit useless having the bug fixed, when I can't even connect to enter the city and get it. What happened this year? They expected much less load or something? MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 20:02, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you to everyone who messaged me all at once to let me know about it. :-) We became aware of it early on. Several of us were online right when people started to experience issues, so this was escalated relatively quickly, and fixed as soon as we possibly could get the changes tested and released. Having said that, the event will be re-run to for those who missed it. We're so sorry that this bug made your Wintersday experience less than ideal. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 01:16, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion about hero selection

I don't know who to ask this to so i'll ask it here.

Can heroes in the party selection please come organised by proffesion.

It would be very helpful when selecting heroes.

But maybe that's just my opinionUser Sjacie sig.pngSjacie

Hi Sjacie: Thank you for the feedback. I don't think there are plans currently to change how Heroes are listed in the party list. This feels like a feature that would not get prioritized over other tweaks, and I will let the designers know about it (they usually keep an eye on the main feedback areas), but thank you for the suggestion all the same. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 01:11, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Interrupt botting using packet logging

Guide was recently posted on teamquitter [1] on how to use certain easily obtainable executables and .dll files to create a bot which scans packet logs to pick out skill activations and create a perfect interrupt bot that functions very similar to the way heroes do. Thought I should mention it here since ANet has been far too incompetent to notice the massive upsurge in the usage of interrupt bots in high-end gvg in the last few months. It's starting to get annoying when you lose ATs because some whoru can pblock patient spirit on recharge.--TahiriVeila 23:34, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

This issue and link has been forwarded to the appropriate internal folks. Thank you. :-) --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 01:08, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Okies, do any of the coders have any idea on when they'll be able to put out at least a quick fix for this particular bot? There were at least a few suggestions on fairly simple ways to put this particular bot out of commission in the QQ thread--TahiriVeila 15:41, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, a quick glance at skill usage logs during that period might have shown (don't know what details they give) that PS was being consistently interrupted all the time. So go take a job at Anet, sit around 24/7 watching the logs come in just in case someone finds a new hackbot, then come back and tell us how incompetent everyone is. West Coast ATs

Are West Coast GvGers pretty much just being sacrificed here? The new schedule doesn't have a single AT later than 5pm, which is really too early for many West Coast GvGers. Is there any chance the schedule can be revised in any way, or did you intentionally ignore the West Coast and don't plan on allowing us to play? I'm hoping it was a case of just ignoring West Coast considerations and that the problem will be remedied. I mean, I've been fairly busy myself recently, but it was looking like I'd be able to get back into some gvg within the next month. If ATs remain at the listed time though, that just won't be physically possible. Pluto 11:53, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

quatromonthly schedule

To the playerbase it is clear that the update schelude is now quatromonthly. The question is: Why did you say bimonthly in the first place? And why are you all pushing skill updates to the middle of the month, while TK or not, it will be full of unintended bugs. So why not release earlier, to let people spot the bugs. --Boro 10px‎ 07:02, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

You can't still believe that the skill update will be in the middle of the month can you? It will be near the end of January or not even January at all. --58.7.140.189 09:24, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

The TK just got started and this will be their first skill update. You can't expect them to know exactly what to do and roll things out in a snap. You two need to stop trolling, as most of the time I see you post on a dev page, it's something sarcastic and snotty. No offense, Rose, but you don't get to chose how players react to late skill updates. Sorry, but you don't. ^ You missed the point. The TK is being blamed (not here, but on GWGuru they are a lot) because that's what people do. When stuff is late (or very late), people look for others to blame. I was suggesting that if the TK didn't foresee themselves accumulating any kind of blame over failed or late updates, then that's just good, old-fashioned ignorance. (Edit conflict) x4 How is that not insinuating that their attitudes are jealous? You make no sense. Also, it doesn't matter what they're saying at Guru, everyone with a brainstem knows the TK had no hand in any of Anet's failures. And Kali, you know just as well as I do that people are going to bitch when needs aren't met, just let it continue. Granted they could be working on something truly amazing, but looking at their track record, I think not, so players are just going to assume that Anet is rotating on their thumbs right now. If the update is game changing (in a good way) then let them get positive feedback after it comes out. If not, then let them get all the flack they deserve. Balance ftw, right? The fact of the matter is, prior to results, people will continue to predict negativity, since that is all Anet has shown, time and time again. Just let it continue. -- Tha Reckoning File:User Tha Reckoning Sig2.jpg 20:55, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, it doesn't help the TK out when members of the group are out publicly writing about how bad, sluggish, and frustrating it is. That's all I'm saying. I think that's considered spam and would result in sysop random/boring intervention. But, yea, it's hard to be jealous of something you didn't want (the TK). What do people think about having a Public Test Realm for this game (Like WoW except cooler because we're GWers :P ). WoW has shown that's it's possible to have that kind of server implemented and it's a bit more comforting than having an elite squad of hand picked update testers. There are only about 100~ out of the entire community, and in my mind I think there is too much drama/favoritism between popular players and anet. Also, I think we may be able to attribute "bad, sluggish and frustrating comments" to the fact that game testing is a totally different deal. You're not guaranteed to be a good tester just because you're on the forums or wiki with your ideas and feedback, and I guess that game testing is a grueling process.
Two more things I promise then you can stop reading my terribad comment. Personally yes I would love to be on the test crew and if you say you're not jealous of people who get insider info way before the rest of the the community (with a chance at augmenting your own ideas into the udpate), I don't believe you.
Finally we need some links to the update leaks :3 Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә Assassin-tango-icon-20.png ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 21:46, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Our developers have good intentions when they let you know about timing. One of the reasons are can be tight-lipped about letting you know _when_ things will happen is because game development, like many creative fields, is subject to a lot of unforeseen issues. And when developers tell you when things will be released, it is in response to players asking for information on when things will be released, in an effort to be more open. However, the game development process, such that it is, can waylay the best of intentions. However, being open about intentions (such as plans for when things get released) also means that we ask players to be more understanding of the realities of game development and game design. This company is a very design-oriented company. A lot of cool and creative things emerge from the design phase, but there is also the other side of design and implementation: sometimes unforeseen issues emerge, and sometimes that may extend the time it takes to develop. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 23:01, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

could make it random per hour? or day? cause if its gonna be random with every battle, how is that gonna work out with the territory line? InfestedHydralisk 02:54, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Territory line would keep moving just like it is now, otherwise owning towns would be randomized too, and that's baed. It's only the actual location of the battle that should change, but whatever decides the location of the battle and the territory line now would still govern the positioning of the territory line independent of the random battle location. Or Kurzicks should get their hairdressers back into battle instead of braiding lazy heads. :P But really, I think the main reason for the Luxon "boom" is MQSC title hunting, but that's just my opinion. 1. "or kurzick should stop losing" <QFT 2. "But really, I think the main reason for the Luxon "boom" is MQSC title hunting, but that's just my opinion." that does not make any sense, you know, Luxon only has better quality players because it developed that way somehow, I think because it was less popular among people(maybe they preferred kurzick looks??) and smarter ppl went to the luxon side after seeing that they can't win with their not-so-awesome teammates therefore luxon became known as the side that wins:O, but I don't ab that much(once a month) so I may not know this as well as our funniest guy on wiki, YSERON does, a regular aber or so I herd. - Wuhy User Wuhy sig.jpg 14:13, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

hmm... I'm pretty sure only AB affects the faction line, not faction contributed, so only town ownership would be affected by MQSC. Kurzicks also have DTSC (aka Frenchway or Germanway). The faction line seems to have moved from the middle to deep Kurzick about the same time as several guilds I used to ally with, though I'm sure that is coincidence. There was a time when it was always in Deep Luxon - I think the good players maxed the title and switched sides. --Falseprophet 18:55, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Question

How long would it take you and your crew to get a skillupdate live if said skillupdate was a numberfix.
Example :
Mending is deemed to be Overpowered since if you maintain it on your whole party its like 48 health each second at 8 spec. You realise that this is essentially a orison of healing thrown out every second with the same spec. You decide to nerf its regen and give it a recharge.Regen reducing the immense healing and recharge making enchantment removal a viable counter. The result would be :

Mending Mending : Enchantment Spell. While you maintain this Enchantment, target ally gains +0...2...3 Health regeneration. 10 Energy1 Activation time15 Recharge time

This is obviously a example but how long would it take you to implement this ? Just put it live ? And what part would take longest to implement ? Or would you be able to do this within minutes ? I'm just bike-curious :) Lilondra User Lilondra Sig.jpg 08:58, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Skill Balance Not Until February

"So I know some of you are waiting anxiously for the next skill balance. Let me just take a few moments to talk about the challenges we're facing with this particular skill balance. We are involving the Test Krewe in this balance. They've really been digging deep into skill discussions, and the involvement of the Test Krewe has added more cycles to the skill balance process. This is to be expected. When you invite a large group of people into the process and solicit and discuss their feedback, it will take more time. Secondly, skill balance (like many aspects of game design) is an iterative process, and one where both the Test Krewe and the Live Team are learning, streamlining, and improving on, in terms of how best to deliver and take in feedback. The winter holiday break hit, and there was some downtime for that. Finally, you all know that we do not change skills before the MAT. The Live Team and Test Krewe are working earnestly on this skill balance, and the Team knows that you've been waiting for it. - Regina @ Guru"

Really? It's going to be 5 months late and all we get are more excuses? Can we just go ahead and assume that the "new" schedule is never going to be on time (and for that matter, that the XTH is dead?). I'm tired of believing this company's announcements, and I'd love a dash of realism from the CR team for a change. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 17:22, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Then I suggest some minor skill fixes BEFORE february. Also Login Screen announcements because having only wiki and guru communication channels (FB and Twitter doesn't matter) is the close equivalent of having no communication at all. --Boro 10px‎ 17:53, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

I think what we're TRYING to say is that we hope it will be some kind of miracle, after all this waiting. I wouldn't take everything I said back, but I'd rethink in future. If any of us spent 5 months working on a project at our jobs, it better be something great, for using up all that company time and resources, so let's hope it's the same with this. -- Tha Reckoning File:User Tha Reckoning Sig2.jpg 21:10, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
They keep coming up with "new" and "better" ways of doing things when all they seem to do is delay anything from actually being done. It's like work for the sake of work. Look at the Test Krewe which extends the skill balance process, took months to implement, likely takes up programmer time and will also likely not make a big difference to the majority of the player base. Lets forget about the time spent to implement the incredibly dead Codex Arena, deader than HB and TA combined. They also spend programmer time on "automating all the events" which didn't even work because Wintersday hats were screwed up and time needed to be spent to fix that. It seems like by adding all these things that are supposed to help improve things, all they've done is tied a bunch of weight's to a sinking ship to make it sink faster. At this rate they will just keep adding more things that prevent them from doing anything truly helpful - like the first skill balance in 6 months. At this rate we will hit the release of GW2 and the test krewe will still be delaying bad updates and they will still be automating festivals instead of fixing actual problems.
At my old university we got a late penalty when handing in assignments past their due date. How many candy canes do you think you would need to get rid of the late penalty this skill balance is accumulating? 122.105.104.94 21:14, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) What's really disappointing about the extended skill update hiatus is the lingering problems from skill buffs last year that went unaddressed when there were multiple opportunities to fix them. Two, three, four months feels like an eternity when the solution seems so simple, even a if it's a temporary emergency fix, which isn't unprecedented. It's good to know that a long overdue review of skill balance is finally being undertaken, but will there be any players left by the time it's finished? Another month is a tough pill to swallow even if there's a faint hope for PvP around the corner. Zen` 04:57, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Hmm yeah there won't be anymore holidays or anniversaries in June, right? So they've gotta get it out by then. 209.89.252.164 05:06, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Personally, I'm glad to see it's taking this long to accomplish skill balancing. Finally sounds like they're taking the time to account for PvE and PvP difficulty changes that will occur. As for 'minor' changes, in a game this complex (huge number of skills) there is no such thing as a minor change. Just changing one skill can change the value of nearly all other skills in the game seeing as how they're all alternatives. Besides, in the game development process, the only time when something can be stated with absolute certainty is after it's been released (which irritates investors powerfully). While it may suck for players that we aren't given deadline style promises, I'd rather see good design practices followed rather than rushes to meet arbitrary dates, especially as how long something will take to do right is rarely predictable. Seryu 06:59, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

@Jette, I've heard similar complaints. A lot of my friends that are on the TK have told me it's an unorganized mess with a terrible forum and no real work is being done. Actually, Extend Conditions has become part of the GvG meta (kind of). People are using it with the old Me/E FC Water snare build to do AoE blind on the midline paras or frontline (or really, anyone that balls up). Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 15:44, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
TBH energy drain is way more common, and the only reason we're seeing any FC mesmers at all is because of the rumors that MoI is going to get sbooned in the upcoming update (which a lot of people expected to be this week). I'd bet on seeing a lot more MoI eles coming back now, especially in split builds that need the extra damage at stand.--TahiriVeila 16:28, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

You know, Arenanet have stumbled around in the dark for so long it's almost comic-like how they're working, and I've come to expect nothing different from them. I've been in modding groups who've worked with more established structure, work flow, information release and product release than this... ~~000.00.00.00~~ 21:06, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
You're right about that... and people have been saying for years now how it should have been opened to public modding by now(but I suspect it never will b/c Anet no doubt thinks open sourcing their network code would be the end of the world or something stupid...). But if their coding was really that awesome, they would already have a way to allow modding/scripting communities within their servers like StarCraft and SecondLife did. --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 23:09, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Anet blows, is the gist of the conclusion here. -- Tha Reckoning File:User Tha Reckoning Sig2.jpg 23:33, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
I'd have to say this period of no updates has been great for the meta. It's done a swing from BYOB, to Dual Para Spike, to Double Ele Spike, Hexway teams are reforming, and multiple choices for splits again. The lack of updates has FORCED the community to try and develop their own ways to defeat the currently strongest build in the meta, and it is constantly changing. This is a damn good thing, as it's the first time I've seen it done continually in a long time. Players are becoming LESS DEPENDENT on the updates. I say, just for their sake, that Arenanet should not make promises they do not intend to keep, as all it does, is make the player-base question their integrity as a company.--Malchior Devenholm 01:28, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Which of those was a fun meta, again? User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 02:20, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Technically, he's quasi-right. The problem is that the meta has only been like that for GvG. HA is getting shitted on daily and RA is just plain god-awful at this point. And, with the only other choices for PvP now being Codex, AB, or one of the CM's, those have turned to a complete bore-fest (read the section above about why AB is so bad).
It may have done interesting things for GvG, but it's rotted away at the insides of the rest of PvP. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 03:32, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Honestly, I think it's a problem with the players more than ANet. Players will do/play anything that wins/gets them money, regardless of whether or not they enjoy doing it. If players made having fun and/or playing skillfully a priority instead of just winning, it would solve itself. This is what you get when your playerbase is basically /b/ with a negative attitude, though. I liked the original 2005 playerbase more, they were friendlier. They weren't friendly or likeable, mind you, but there are different degrees of being a drooling idiot. I guess it's a moot point, though; acting people to be reasonable or intelligent is like... well, like asking ANet to fix the game. –Jette 03:46, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
From what I'm noticing is that PvE players enjoy stuff like Shadowform since its easy and gets them money and stuff that just farms everything with ease, while on the other hand, the actual PvP players, want the game to be balanced without mechanics that makes you immortal, where you just 1-2-3 or cast and forget. I'm not enjoying what's currently going on and this needs to get fixed, even Anet could tweak a few numbers without testing. I mean really, skills that are still deadly even when there's certain types of protection around? How could you even put this in the game to start out with. InfestedHydralisk 04:30, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

To anyone in the SF nerf crowd, try maintaining SF while surrounded by 8-12 or more Grasps of Insanity and their energy draining attacks (4 energy per it x 8-12 = 32-48 energy lost at once or more). No energy = No SF recast. Very difficult to do. Especially since said Grasps tend to often be popups that spawn when you think you've cleared the immediate area, and Silver Armor's duration is too short and its recharge too long to kill many of them before they suck out your energy. Or try using SF against any enemies with skills like Vile Touch, which easily penetrates SF. SF is not complete invulnerability, nor is it mindless. One distraction to mess up your recast timing and you're dead. SF does allow people who are unable to spend 18 hours a day in the game a decent opportunity to get some high end stuff, threatening as that might be to the hardcore elites.
SF, in some ways, is an equalizer of sorts because of that very thing - it allows less hardcore players to get high end stuff. Which elitist hardcore players don't like as they'd rather hoard it all to themselves than *gasp* let the general populace enjoy it as well. Not saying it shouldn't take work to get them, as it should, but it shouldn't require doing nothing but being the game all the time. Those who actually try to balance their game lives and real lives shouldn't be punished for doing so by not being able to get some of the high end stuff that hardcore elitists want all to themselves. Just isn't right. And I'm also sick of this PvP obsession a lot of wiki posters seem to have. There's more to the game than that. Nothing wrong with PvP, but it's only part of the game, not the whole game. So in essence, I'm hoping the "nerf" in the upcoming skill update (if it ever comes) isn't as bad as some would think or want. --Nathe 20:46, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Who cares about the goddamned SF bitch war. Just fix VoR, MoI, IoP, Expertise, Glass Arrows, and curses. Really there aren't even functionality problems, just numbers. Tone down the damage on VoR, IoP, MoI, and Glass Arrows, nerf the duration and buff the recharge of curse line spells, and make it so that expertise will only affect bow attacks, not ALL attacks. These are 5 minute changes that do NOT NEED 5 MONTHS OF EXTENSIVE TESTING and would improve arenas, HA, and GvG DRAMATICALLY.--TahiriVeila 21:18, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

I do actually try to avoid senselessly giving ArenaNet a hard time. But they too have accepted there's a problem with the current system, so I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with holding that view. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 15:02, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Solo Farming and Shadow Form

You do realize, Regina, that if you nerf Shadow Form, half the remaining GW playerbase is likely to leave. Is that really what you want? That's not a rhetorical question, by the way, but one I'd like an answer from you for. I'd like to remind you that Linsey has specifically stated that farming is a legitimate playstyle. So why are you going against what the head of the Live Team has said? I can understand curbing speed clears (I've never actually done one myself, having only started using SF recently), but I'm sure it's possible to do that without nerfing SF and destroying the most efficient farming method in the game.

I'm sure you're aware of this, but SF is an equalizer of sorts in that it allows players other than the uppermost tier to have access to high end items. Some would prefer that only the elitist hardcore players be able to have the expensive equipment, but that only makes them as bad as people who think only the rich should have money. Not everyone has eighteen hours a day they can spend getting stuff the long way - some people actually have lives, after all. But they do still want some of the high end gear. If you're going to nerf SF, at least give those players an alternative - not game-breaking like SF, but still useable in a solo build. Thanks for your consideration and understanding. --Nathe 01:17, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

What I have said doesn't contradict what Linsey has said. I never post information that hasn't been cleared by Linsey and other designers working on Live Team. The designers are aware of potential issues with changes to Shadow Form, including the potential issues you've speculated about, and what those impacts may be. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 01:40, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

find it very coincidental, but Chinese/Canthan New Year collides with Valentine's Day

I was wondering if you guys are going to do anything special this year for Canthan New Year because the Chinese New Year collides with Valentine's Day this year. Or is it just going to be the same as last year with no new features? I was thinking of doing something special such as creating a new holiday based on Valentine's Day that takes place in Eye of the North (maybe an Asuran equivalent to Valentine's Day), or maybe having some special events relating Canthan New Year in Eye of the North. Just tell me if there is going to be Canthan New Year or not due to the Wintersday redux and if so, is it going to be the same as last year (with the only difference with an uber rare miniature correlating to Chinese New Year)?--Dark Paladin X 04:09, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Snowball Dominance

Hi Regina. I have a question about quest "Snowball Dominance". Could it be non-repeatable? Players are playing this quest only for reward of Frosty Tonics and Candy Cane Shards. No, sorry playing isn't suitable word, they are farming it. Maybe it will be better if only candy cane shards will be giving as a reward instead of CCS' and Frosty Tonics. When I see so much people in the Eye of the North it makes me sick. They are there only to repet the quest. -- Sigu 15:00, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

It bothers you that there are a bunch of people in the outpost? Why? And, this was asked before, and I don't believe ever answered. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 15:16, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Which is actually a good reason for asking it again, should you be correct Freedom.
However; ArenaNet doesn't have a problem with farming, which is a bad reason to ask the question again. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 17:27, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Uhm, What else would you be farming it for? besides the 500 ebon points to help with the terribad grind of titles in EotN. >.> 71.193.48.146 17:44, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Here's the previous question, for reference. It was never "answered" per se, but I would interpret her archiving it without comment to mean that it was not a bug, and that it was meant to be repeatable. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 18:04, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
The first version should be as is. Repeats should not give tonic rewards. Just make a second quest with a slightly different name and smaller reward, and have THAT be repeatable. Another option is to simply make the reward be 5 random holiday items or 3 wintersday gifts or something, to at least balance it out. This is ridiculous, I saw people selling bulk stacks of frosty tonics during and after the event, and still see an abnormally large number of snowmen running around all over places like Kamadan or the Nick's town-of-the-week. This is just stupid, I can't think of a better word for it. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 18:39, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Mesmer bot(s) in HA

Hi Regina, just want to give you a heads up on the latest mesmer bots that's been going on in HA and probably GvG too and if you guys are aware of it or if anything is being done? or what other info you need from us? Thanks --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 154.5.130.237 (talk).

Punkbuster and other means to prevent cheating never really worked, making the crusade against cheats look like a race where developpers try to catch up eternally. Ultimately, to force users to provide physical inputs without using macros, like fingers actually hiting a buton (or your face, it depends on your play style ;) ) would recquire input devices manufacturers to re-design their hardware at a terrific level along with OS and drivers developpers, which isnt just worth it for these markets. To be really effective, an anti-cheat system would have to partially take control of your computer. I guess you already see what it would mean in terms of security issues, and the complain from users about liberty & privacy. By the way, if you one day find the 100% hack-proof anti cheat system that preserve customers rights to privacy and free of use, you become instantly multi-billionaire... and my best friend. You know if I was ANET I'd put a big blinking red & orange sign up on the announcement that said "STOP WITH FUCKING BOTTING FAGGOTS" and start handing out 1,000 bans every week, then dance without pants on to the latter half of "Black Friday" turned up to eleven blasting towards my fundamentalist neighbors whilst screaming "I AM THE FIRE TIGER" and shredding on the electric guitar plugged into a seven-hundred-pound amp. But that's just me. –Jette 09:56, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

If interrupts weren't spammable and the focus on what skill to interrupt was switched from one keey skill to skills depending on tactical situations, bots would be in a big fucking disadvantage. Also if the sense of accomplishment wasnt tied to purple goo bars going up on the 'h' screen for the players, there would be no botting. --Boro 10px‎ 13:20, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Interrupts aren't spammable though :< Most people only bring at most 3 rupts, each of which can only be used every ~20s. An actual player is NOT using their interrupts on recharge and does not hit them on recharge. A Bot on the other hand uses each interrupt at the earliest possible moment and lands EVERY rupt. Do NOT try to blame the problem with botting on mesmer skills lol. --TahiriVeila 22:44, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Limit on bonus items?

Hey Regina. I was just wondering, is there a specific reason why a character is unable to create more than one of the same bonus weapon when using /bonus? In post, it can be somewhat circumvented by equipping a hero with the weap, then doing /bonus again. This is good, because several of my heroes use bonus weaps. But for example in pre, where there are no heroes to equip, and it can't be temporarily traded, it is impossible to have two of a weapon. The reason for having two is that bonus weapons can be (permanently) modded, and it's nice to be able to switch between, say, and nevermore flatbow of fortitude and a nevermore flatbow of charrslaying easily and conviently (as opposed to switching to a shield or something for emergency hp, or a lesser weap, which would be less effective in continuing fighting). So basically, my question is: is there a reason for not allowing multiples of bonus weapons in an invenory? Or was it just an arbitrary decision? Thanks in advance for your prompt reply, and have a great weekend.  :) 173.3.47.253 05:36, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
