Motoko

moved from User talk:Greener/Archive4

Cheating in the game has nothing to do with me requesting that he banned on the wiki. I'm requesting he be banned because he does nothing but troll, lie, distort and pollute to get his way. His previous post is a perfect example. He doesn't even have "dirt" on me at all, it's just another one of his pathetic rhetorical attempts to muddy my name because I pose opposition to him. However, unlike him I can actually provide evidence. So, allow me to elaborate on my claim that Motoko is deceitful. Remember that this doesn’t even begin to touch the surface of his true nature.

First of all to add some context, [avg] was a guild who used a third party program to alter their attributes in matches, ultimately allowing them to achieve a (short lived) gold cape June of 2014. Motoko saw me as an easy target to put on his attempted recreation of the avg roster, seeing as my guild had disbanded a few days prior to the tournament and I did not play it. Motoko explicitly lied to dozens and dozens of people in his attempts to place me on the avg team, but in the process gave the pvp community their first real insights into his capacity to remorselessly deceive.

After Motoko claimed I was in avg, myself and many others (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User_talk:Gladiator_Motoko http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_Wiki:Admin_noticeboard/Vandal_archive_5 http://teamquitter.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=35203&start=270 ) asked him to provide evidence, he proceeded to claim that he had evidence that he just couldn’t show us and for people to believe him on his word. He used his mostly (at the time) mostly unsullied name and reputation as a trade moderator to cause people to believe that he was telling the truth and had true intentions.

Motoko finally provided what he called “evidence” after wiki users and moderators forced him to and even locked the page due to his constant re-adding of my name and others to the roster. Now, as if Motoko’s deceptions hadn’t already gone far enough, the “evidence” that he had spent the past weeks collecting had at its pinnacle amounted to a screen shot from months before avg where I talked about playing with another player whom he claimed played with avg, a picture which anybody could trivially verify is from long before avg as the other players who I had been playing with were also the ones that played against avg in their finals match “This screen places both Ep and Hubet on the same team for the mAT” (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_talk:We_Are_Six_Inches_Enchanted also note that avg never once used the skill “freezing gust” throughout the June monthly tournament so Motoko must have posted this KNOWING that it was false).

Additionally, Motoko saw my attempt to chastise the PvP community on TeamQuitter forums for their inconsistency regarding cheaters in the game “avg cheated to get gold and for it deserve to be discredited, but if you're going to publicly shame them in this idiotic manner then have some consistency and disgrace [Mean], [wO], [TEAM] and most of all [LaG], instead of taking the easy road out” (http://teamquitter.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=35203&start=45 ), and saw an opportunity to brand me as a defender of avg, using this to help "prove" that I had played for them, “If you go through the 22 pages of the thread Nick(Hubet) vigorously defends avg” (http://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Guild_talk:We_Are_Six_Inches_Enchanted&oldid=2571259 ). I put this here as an obvious and easy to check example of how Motoko will lie and distort information to his own ends. This example, like the rest, is something which an individual who did not check Motoko's sources (or realise that they don't actually exist) would easily be deceived into believing.

All the other lines of “evidence” (if you could bring yourself to call them evidence) that Motoko provided involve even worse lies and deception, and all for what? I still to this day do not know why Motoko engaged in this vendetta against me, I can only speculate it’s because of how I publicly flamed him after he placed me on his original avg list (and I have evidence to show how personally he took being flamed by me). I could show screen shots where Motoko claims he doesn’t even care that he’s putting people on the list which he can’t prove, I can even show screenshots of him admitting he doesn’t have any actual evidence to place me there and the whole thing was based on a “feeling” that either zynkh, ep or I had played with avg, and that he would consequently stop trying to defame me by claiming that I had played with them but this edit is already too long as it is, I could go on for days tearing down every piece of evidence he used to frame me and show a plethora of ways he lied and deceived with each one, but this isn’t meant to be a post about avg.

My intentions behind posting here are not to whine over how Motoko convinced now former friends of mine that I was an avg player nor are they to clear my name or directly flame Motoko, my intentions are to provide evidence that Motoko is chronic liar. He cannot help but lying, he cannot do anything but pollute discussions to achieve whatever ends he desires. He is a troll and the amount of rhetoric he pumps through this wiki for his own ends is sickening. I’m asking that he be banned, not because I don’t like him or because he flamed me or anything, but because he, by his own nature, cannot add to this wiki and pollutes and distorts any discussion he finds himself in. For the good of this wiki, Guild Wars and honesty in general, please let this be the end to him. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 120.149.209.242 (talk).

If this conversation is to be looked at, it may as well be here.

My two cents:
I've gone over the contribution history of User:Gladiator Motoko.
  • I see old conflicts with contributors from 2009, seemingly predicated on issues outside of the wiki. I see some brash comments to other contributors.
    • I'm not one to care what happened 5 years ago.
  • A set of reappearances in 2012 through 2014, mainly focusing on guilds, tournaments, and guild trims.
    • Edits are edits. (I personally feel that too much focus and edit warring has been done on the "status" of guilds, but that's a broader issue rather than one directly concerning Motoko)
  • Conflicts rising six months ago concerning Guild talk:We Are Six Inches Enchanted.
    • Walls of text, I read through that... People (in the general sense), it's a game.
  • Focus built up on Feedback talk:Joe Kimmes near the end of 2014. Disagreements with/from other users.
    • I'm not even going to pretend I understand the intricacies of those sections. We're all allowed to disagree, so long as we do it respectfully.
  • Terrible set of choices made after having some game accounts banned.
Conclusions: If poor behaviour continues, blocks will ensue, with longer duration. I'm terribly sorry that Motoko has caused problems in-game, on other forums, or in the community as a whole, etc. I'm focused on this wiki, and while that may be myopic, it is the limit of my knowledge and ability. I'll defer to other administrators who may have more knowledge or insight on this matter. G R E E N E R 07:45, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
A week is a good start. I agree, old issues are definitely past their statute of limitations, but even recently he's been stirring up trouble. Keeping an eye on his edits will be wise, but you seem to have it pretty well under control already. Keep up the good work, old chap. -Auron 13:27, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Debugging Abuse Filter

Hey fellow admin,

I've been staring at these two abuse logs, 126398 and 126400, and I haven't been able to figure out why the edits tripped the filter. If someone else could take a look at them, it would be much appreciated.

Also, I may be missing the obvious here, but is there a way to get the filter to highlight the parameters which were triggered? Having to use my eyeballs seems rather outdated for this day and age. G R E E N E R 17:17, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Adding one more by the same filter: 126389. G R E E N E R 18:00, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
The first two you mentioned was triggered by the addition of the word "reputation" in the edits. I've edited the filter so that doesn't occur again in the future. I don't know what caused it to trigger on the third one you mentioned. I don't think there is a way for the filter to highlight triggered parameters. --Silver Edge 07:36, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
Much appreciated. G R E E N E R 08:04, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
Doing my seasonal(?) check-in, the third one appears to be the "yy" - Tanetris (talk) 05:37, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
Great eyes. That one has been bugging me every since. G R E E N E R 07:37, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Permanent Block

moved from Guild Wars Wiki:Admin noticeboard

I got permanently blocked recently... it makes me sad and wish to get it back. Please tell me where I can complain or just ask getting back my userspace. My Username was Corporation... --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.169.203.223 (talk) at 13:35, 22 July 2016‎ (UTC).

The block was due to your lack of any contribution to the wiki, and your decision to blatantly ignore warnings concerning the use of your user page and user talk page. I do not see you as a person who capable of learning nor changing in this regard, and I will not overturn the permanent ban. G R E E N E R 17:45, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
That is assumption. Heard of giving someone a chance every now and then? People do and can change. I would suggest a friendly helpful way and not a hostile stance, no offense dude. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 174.223.2.159 (talk) at 08:53, 26 August 2017‎ (UTC).
The decision was evidence based. I habitually give people many chances, as I did in this case. People do change, but when they show no desire to, waiting for them to do so at the cost of the wiki is silly. I always choose to talk to people in an open manner, as I did in this case. And no offense taken, as I'm aware you do not have access to the deleted pages, and therefore can only guess as to the context of this situation. G R E E N E R 17:20, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
