How do you download everything in the Run Menu?
That title may not make sense but what I mean is there is a certain code that you put into the run menu. This code will download everything in guildwars, so you don't have to wait in download screens. Evidently I lost that code, so I need to find what it was to run it. --71.142.93.65 07:34, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- The -image command line arguement. -- Gordon Ecker 07:49, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
(Added by the person who made this question) That didn't exactly help me, I need a specific command that does it.
- Did you click on the command line link? Because it pretty much tells you step-by-step (oh baby!) how to do it and download all the files. Kokuou 17:04, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
(Added by the person who made this question) Yes I did, but that doesn't really tell me what I need to know. Maybe I'm missing something. I mean it tells you how to do things, but I need the actual command. Would it be possible for the command to be just given to me?
- he said everything you need to know. right-click your gw-icon, add the -image tag to the run line (as described in the link above) and run gw like that. when it's done, remove the tag and you're ready to play. - Y0_ich_halt 17:41, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
(Added by the person who made this question) Ah, I see now. FOR FURTHER REFERENCE FOR ANYONE ELSE THAT HAS THE SAME QUESTION: Go to Run -> Copy and paste; "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image -> Wait for it to load.

Binding Rituals
I was just wondering, as I am about to get GW:Factions, can all binding rituals attack? I've read up about the spirit, "Pain" and it says it deals an x ammount of damage but is it just more than the usual damage a spirit does, if all spirits can attack. I am certain I will be a Ritualist but if not all spirits can attack, I probibly will go Channeling magic.
- Some spirits attack, some spirits provide the party a boon, and some provide passive damage against the enemy. See Binding Ritual for more details. -- br12 • (talk) • 16:52, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'm assuming this will be your first Guild Wars purchase, so excuse me if I'm wrong. ;) You can spread your attribute points over Communing and Channeling magic, to get the best of both worlds. :) Also, you can change your attributes and skill bar from any town or outpost, so you don't have to worry about "going" a particilar attribute line, and you can try them all out. Biscuits 17:11, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for the help (and yes this is my 1st GW purchase) but also, I was looking at a build on the PvX site and it had not attack skills whatsoever but three spirits: Shelter, Union and Displacement. It doesn't say in any of these discriptions that they attack but since there are no attacking skills, I'm thinking that they do attack. Is there any way of distinguishing if they attack or not besides how they look?
- Hover over the skill on PvXwiki and you should get a description. Also, some builds and skill bars are not just for attacking, they can be for party support. Shelter, Union and Displacement are all support skills, and they do not attack. If a spirit does attack, it will be explicit in the description and say something like "Skill does 40 damage" or "Create a Spirit of Blah that deals 10 damage, and an extra 20 damage to Hexed foes". In other words, it will only attack if it says it will attack.-- br12 • (talk) • 17:36, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. Spirits that attack have arms and throw stuff at enemies. Spirits that do not attack are bound and do not move. But there is a much easier way. Take a look at the Binding ritual page which lists the skill descriptions of all the spirits. If the descriptions says it attacks, it attacks; otherwise, it doesn't. I'm confused, I was just looking about rare skin items (really rare items that are gold I think) and I saw that the 15^50 items were the most expencive; what does 15^50 mean?
- 15^50 is player jargon for Damage +15% while health is greater than 50%. It can be an inherent mod on a weapon, or an inscription. The 15^50 inscription is called Strength and Honor. Calor — talk 19:59, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Rare Skin Items
I was looking on a price fourum of rare skin items. Two things, rare skin items are really rare items that are gold, right? Also, I noticed the 15^50 items were the most expensive;what does 15^50 mean? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:195.229.236.216 .
- 15^50 is short for the mod of +15% damage when health > 50%. Rare skins are items that drop very rarely, not necessarily gold. A gold rare skin item is thus much more valuable than a white rare skin item. -- ab.er.rant 06:16, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- An example of a very rare skin for swords is the Crystalline Sword. -- ab.er.rant 06:17, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- But rarity comes in various definitions and changes over time. The Crystalline Sword was one of the rarest items in the game, however for a long time the Tribal Axe had never been found with max stats (max damage for an axe) and either 15^50 or inscribable, and thus was rarer than the Crystalline Sword. The next thing which is considered is, is it gold, purple, blue or, often considered worthless, white. For a time, white Tribal Axes were worth a lot, even though white items are the worst in the game. Rare Skin would likely refer to an item which does not drop very often, or is difficult to find with max stats. The Crude Axe is a rare skin, but that does not mean it is worth a lot. Item value is defined by a few things, appeal of the skin; the Icy Dragon Sword appeals to many people so it has value, difficulty of obtaining the item, items which only drop in certain parts of the game are often worth more even if they aren't as aestheticlly desirable as another item; the requirement of the item, and if it is not inscribable the dmg modifier; and finnaly the "rarity" of the item, this refers to the colour of it's name. Gold items are the rarest, next is purple, then blue, then white. Realistically it is probably harder to find a req 9 incribable blue weapon than it is to find the same in a gold weapon, but gold is the preferred colour. Anon

- You must have skipped some primary quests by tagging along with someone doing Destruction's Depths and getting "ferried" to the Central Transfer Chamber. Although you are allowed to tag along with others, you won't get any credit for it, and cannot do the quests yourself until you finish the other primary quests. Check your log for Against the Destroyers and it's subquests, and their sub-quests to see what you're missing. --Valshia 20:54, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Days and Items
Has every day another item Drop Rating?--DOHF 15:59, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- No the only time the drop rating changes is when a special weekend happens. These weekends will increase the drop rate of keys or green items or rare items, otherwise the drop rate is always the same. Drop rating will also change if you farm will less than a full party, (more items drop for larger parties, less items drop for lone farmers), this is to balance the economy, although the reduced drop rate doesn't affect things like keys or gold items. A good place to get gold
What is a good explorable area in any guild wars game to get gold?--King Ranik 22:50, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Pretty much anywhere. You get more gold the less people you have in your partys, so try and have the minimum amount of people in your party possible. — ク Eloc 貢 00:49, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Especially anywhere in Hard Mode.reanor 01:48, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- If you have the BMP one of the easiest ways to get gold is to do one of the missions you can pull off quickly and easily. Gwen's missions is pretty easy and you get 500g everytime you complete it. The Jade Arena quest in factions is also an easy way to make money, it can take 2-3 mins to complete when you get quick at it, and each completion gives you 400 gold I think. SystemisFlawed

getting armor from other areas
hay, just a question about armors from campiengs you dont have, you can't normaly get them, but can you get them from tornament rewards? like how you can get elite nightfall armor parts for so many points
- I think all rewards from Tolkano are considered 'core' rewards, meaning you can unlock them as long as you have the necessary number of reward points regardless of whether you own the campaign or not. Grand Master Cartographer
Hello everyone,
I have been playing Nightfall for a while now, and after finishing the game I decided to complete some of the various titles. I have gone back thru and tried to get the full map revealed, but there is like .4% that I just can't seem to find. I have cleared the dynastic tombs area in the challenge mission also. I have a bad feeling that my missing .4% is in the tutorial area. Is there any way to get back in there? When starting the game you don't really think about scraping the edges of the map, and it would really stink if that title is not able to be completed because of that. Thanks, Ken Artley aka Storm Sunstarr, ranger/elementalist 72.24.110.55 20:21, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- I had a similar problem when carting Elona. Yes, the very beginning does count for about .1%, but there is extra in the mainland. Make sure you go back to where the ship is in Istan, out the doorway in Kamadan. Also don't forget the arena attached to Kamadan. Gandara can be explored only during a mission. Stacking Runes and Insigs
I'm trying to figure out how runes and Insignia stack together. I have two specific examples.
First: Runes are global and non-stacking, right? So if I have one Warrior Rune of Superior Absorption applied, then I will have physical damage reduced by 3 regardless of where I'm hit. And since it is non-stacking, it would be useless to equip a second. BUT, if I then applied a Knight's Insignia, would that stack with the Rune of Superior Absorption for a total reduction of 6 to the specific piece to which it is applied?
Second: With the same logic... can a Rune of Superior Vigor be stacked with a Survivor's Insignia for increased health?
Thanks --68.106.126.199 12:03, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Your examples are correct. Two runes of absorption DO NOT stack. A rune of absorption WILL stack with knights insignia but only if the part of the body with the insignia is hit, otherwise only the run of absoprtion will apply. If your shield reduces damage as well it will stack on top of that. So if your shield is 2, your rune is 3 and your knights is 3, then you will have 8. Similairly if you have an absoprtion skill such as Stoneflesh Aura it will stack on top of this. If you have 5 knights insignias, they will only apply to the individual armour peices you have them on. Vigour runes, Vitae and Survivor's insignias all stack together, and it doesn't matter which armour peices they are on. SystemisFlawed
- Vigor runes do not stack with themselves though. - HeWhoIsPale 14:52, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

skill hunter titles
Hello again every one,
One more question on maxing titles.... I've been capping elites in nightfall and noticed that I cannot change my secondary profession to either assassin or ritualist via the profession changer in the sunspear command post. Do I need to buy Factions to open these 2 professions? Or is there another way to get them? Storm Sunstarr72.24.110.55 22:03, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Terror in Tyria
I have a Nightfall character that has completed the consulate docks mission, and I have Prophecies on the same account. I do not have Factions, therefore have not done the 'Chaos in Kryta' quest (or at least I do not think he has). His rank is Sunspear Commander (6).
However, Mhenlo at the docks says that this character is not eligible for the Terror in Tyria quest which would get me to Lion's Arch.
My question therefore is: what do I have to do to get this character eligible for the Terror in Tyria quest? I believe he has met the requirements, but it seems I am missing something.
Thanks in advance, --24.22.96.253 00:30, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, I completed the Consulate Docks mish myself, and got the Terror to Tyria quest from Mhenlo. However, he insists that I am ineligible. I did start gw:en before talking to Mhenlo. Would that cause a problem?
- Priestess is probably right. Have you done Jokanur Diggings, Blacktide Den, and all the primary quests between start of the game and Consulate Docks? Calor — talk 00:59, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

- Deras Tenderlin in Kamadan is the quest giver for Terror in Tyria, not Mhenlo. Are you sure you got the quest from him before talking to Mhenlo? --Valshia 01:12, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
First, thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it.
Yes, the quest says I got it from Deras Tenderlin, and I completed the first part of the quest where it says to talk to Mhenlo to find out more about the situation in Tyria. It then says to tell Mhenlo when you are ready to travel to Tyria but when I say ok he says that 'one person in my party is ineligible'. I am alone and not in a party, so I assume he means me :)
I tried dropping the quest and starting it again .. same thing :(
And, yes, I did complete the quest 'The Time is Nigh'.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:24.22.96.253 (talk).
I am having this exact same problem. Did you by chance figure it out?
I too am having the same problem, and I've notived others stading around Mhenlo saying the same thing.

I have a question about servers
Now I'm playing at America server, I know there are International and European and in Asia. In upper left corner, we can choose the servers, but there is no asian server. My question is:
1) Can we connect to asian server? If yes, is there any difference between these server?
2) If I go to Asia, to continue playing, I have to connect to America server or can I "transfer" or something like to asian server? If yes, is there any fee or anything?
Thank you.

Moving from factions/nightfall to prophecies
I'm just about to hit level 15 in Prophecies, and I've been messing around in the Yak's Bend random arena. I see a lot of ritualists and dervishes in the combat.. how do low level characters from factions/nightfall get to Prophecies? Do they have access to switch over right away? Where to they come though- at Lion's Arch? How on earth can they afford to have someone run them all the way from Lion's Arch to Yak's Band? I see a lot of them like maybe a tenth of the people I see in yak's bend pvp are from another game. Thanks --65.161.73.245 09:57, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- A character is able to travel from one continent to another as long as they complete the quest that links them to that particular continent, irregardless of level.
- Canthan born characters can switch to another campaign upon reaching Kaineng City and completing the relevant quest. Likewise, Elonians can do the same thing upon reaching Kamadan. If their destination is Tyria, they start off in Lion's Arch.
- In terms of affordability and running from LA to Yak's Bend, I'm not sure about the rates from LA to Yak's but I doubt that the rates are out of reach for most players (even casual players), and am pretty certain that it can even be run by low level characters with the right skill and party setup. --Ember Silvermoon 13:09, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- There are pretty much no runners; the few that are there are very cheap, LA to Ascalon is generally less than 500g. —Ebany Salmonderiel 16:50, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

PvE characters and skills
What's the best way to beat multiple GW chapters? Should I beat them all with the same character to end up with an uber PvE character with all the best possible skills? Or start over in each campaign with a new character? --65.161.73.245 19:25, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Probably not the best answer you wanted, but it's your own personal choice. However, in my own experience, I stick with one character because it allows me to concentrate on the campaign itself instead of trying to figure out what each proffession does. That way, you get to learn each campiagn properly. If you get bored though, then just create another profession and go with that. -- br12 • (talk) • 19:30, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

- While they do list the 5-hour time limit, they do not specifically state that having access to a travel city is required. I don't know how many newer guildmates from Prophecies used their codes thinking they'd just "go there", and by the time they got to the Lion's Arch, realized it was of no use to them (I honestly had a guildmate who got a 45 second trial after finally realizing what was happening and being run to LA!) I've been dealing with it since the trial started, and it's really getting old. - Kurzick-Luxon border, and Alliance articles have a little info... basically, the towns are "owned" by the guilds with the highest amounts of Faction in them (members can trade in Kurzick or Luxon Faction they earn to their Guild, which raises the Alliance's total Faction). This faction slowly empties over time, so guilds need to keep actively adding Faction to their Alliance to keep a Town (this is why many high-rank guilds require that members donate a certain amount of Faction every day). - Your health is showing 25? I can understand energy (the blue meter) but not health (the red meter). Your health at level 20 is fixed at 480, and modified by gear you have (a +30 health bonus on your bow, or a -35 health loss from a rune). There's no way your health should be that low naturally, particularly if you're not using runes. If you're looking at energy, the same rules pretty much apply. With the armor a ranger wears, you'll have 25 energy, and +3 energy regeneration. This can be modified again using runes or equipment mobs. Of course, you're in Abaddon's Gate, so it's likely easier to assume you know what you're doing, and that you understand that having 25 natural health is simply a little borked... --Mystisteel 05:53, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

It took me over a year to casually, yet thoroughly, explore, quest, and "beat" Prophecies. I was done with Factions (done) in about 2 weeks from its launch. Of course, I could always go back and farm 20 million faction to max both Faction titles, but "who cares for that?", right? --Mystisteel 21:39, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

My Game won't work anymore!!!
I recently downloaded the latest patch. I am playing the game of the year version. everything seemed to have downloaded fine. But when I open the game now it isn't working properly. I have just solid bars where the login and everything is. i can click on everything and login but nothing works. My graphics drivers and everything is up to date. Please help. what can I do? --Rusty021 21:46, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- I understand your frustration. That patch is now several days old, so if there was a graphics-defeating glitch, the whole community would know about. It's either two things:
- You truly do have a problem with your graphical settings (this is most likely, to be honest with you.)
- In patching, you've corrupted your install of Guild Wars.
If you truly believe your graphical settings on your computer are okay, you can always attempt to repair your installation of Guild Wars. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Biscuits .
i had this right after the path, i could sometimes get to towns but never outside, simple computer reboot fixed it --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:24.226.42.55 .

About the Wisdom Title
In GWW, it says to identify rare items, are those the green ones or gold ones? Or even the purple ones counts too?
Thanks--Room10202 15:13, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- only gold items count as rare items...so ID them...although IDing any item will increase its worth at the merchant as well as show you any runes/insignias/mods/inscriptions...even greens...Coridan 15:15, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
so, does the green ones have some value? Or they are just unique, that can't be salvage their upgrades nor can't be upgrades?--Room10202 15:49, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- the wisdom title does only count golden items. you only need to identify them, not find them yourself. as for green items, they are the easiest way to get perfect weapons, which is their only value. for merchants, those are lousy items, but players will usually pay much more than a merchant. - Y0_ich_halt 15:58, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- oh, and no, you can't salvage greens. - Y0_ich_halt 15:59, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Concerning the green weapons...if you go to sell to a merchant you get a little better price for it when you ID it vs not IDing.Coridan 16:47, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- that's for everything. identifying makes stuff more valuable. - Y0_ich_halt 16:57, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
skill point quests
Are there any +15 skill point quests in game of the year edition?--66.24.207.110 23:43, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Do you mean +15 attribute points quests? If so, then yes. The only difference between normal Prophecies and the GOTY edition is that the latter gives people access to these bonus items. --Doll 23:53, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

- what exactly doesn't work? it sounds like you just can't access it, which has its answer in the FAQ. note that EotN is only an expansion that you can access once you've made some progress in factions. - Y0_ich_halt 19:23, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) EotN is only accessed by doing, in your case, from Factions, I Feel the Earth Move Under Cantha's Feet. That quest is gained by talking to a certain person in Kaineng Center, a town on the mainland of Cantha. Calor — talk 19:24, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

CSS Screen
Will it ever be possible to switch the character selection screen. Im just curious because some people can get bored of seeing the Far Shiverpeaks and the same music till Guild Wars 2 comes out. --TitanSacranus-- 23:18, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think u can switch the background in the character selection screen unless u r talking about the indiviual slot for your character. I could be wrong.--King Ranik 23:21, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- No, character selection screen background can't be changed, as far as I know. It usually only changes when a new game comes out (when Nightfall was released, the screen changed, and it wasn't changed again until Eye of the North). You generally don't spend much time on the screen anyway, so options/changes like that aren't a priority for ANet I wouldn't think. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 23:25, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Singet of Capture
I am in GWen and i am trying to get an elite skill from a boss but the skill has a lock symbol, is there anything i have to do to get the skill?
- You need to own the campaign that skill is from. GW:EN is an expansion to all campaigns, but you still need the original campaign the skill is from. For example, Crippling Shot is a Prophecies-only elite. If you only own Nightfall and GW:EN and go to capture Crippling Shot in GW:EN, then it will be locked because you don't own Prophecies. About the Garden of Seborhin
I'm trying to get Hahan's Oath, drop from the boss Hahan, Faithful Protector, which is located at Garden of Seborhin.
The problem is that when I enter the area, it is Nightfallen Garden map. At the end of the page of Garden of Seborhin, it says "This area is converted to the Nightfallen Garden after the Grand Court of Sebelkeh mission, until the completion of Jennur's Horde.", but I have finished the mission Jennur's Horde, and still can't get to the Garden.
Is this a bug, something that I didn't do or it will be Nightfallen Garden forever?
Thanks--Room10202 03:05, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, that page is wrong. I've corrected it. Once the garden turns in Nightfallen Garden, you have to complete the campaign before you can access Garden of Seborhin again (yea, I know, I had to wait until I finish before I can finally capture Song of Restoration). -- ab.er.rant 04:47, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure if you party with a player who has Nightfallen Garden while you yourself have the "normal" version, you get into the Nightfallen version, or vice-versa; I'm not sure, but that might be an option to cap the skill a little earlier. (I'll test it later myself if I have the chance, I think I have a few different characters who have both versions.) -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 06:38, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yea, I think I recall something like that. I believe the leader of that party has to be the one with access to the Garden for that to work. -- ab.er.rant 06:47, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's nice having two whole wikis dedicated to a single subject. :P Here's the info I gathered from GuildWiki:
- "If you have completed Grand Court of Sebelkeh, but have not completed the game, you can still access the normal Garden by partying with someone else who has not completed that mission. Partying with someone who has completed the game, however, does not work."
- ...so I don't think you necessarily need the party leader to be the one with access. I'm not sure, but it may be that characters who can't get into the Nightfallen version won't be able to do so no matter what until they get far enough in the story, so anyone with such a character in their party will always go to "normal" garden. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 07:09, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Losing forward perspective
I have noticed occasionally after i die, that i lose my forward perspective. That is, i can only see looking down on myself. No matter what i do, i cannot regain my forward perspective. - Don't those quests (like the Charr encryptor things) actually take you to Ascalon regardless of whether or not you have Prophecies? Like it's included within EoTN itself.
- Also, Finding the Bloodstone is a pure EotN quest, so a problem like that shouldn't occur. -- br12 • (talk) • 23:35, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Does the sunspear arena area add to the cartographer title? I know the entry spot adds .1%, but my character is lvl 20 and cant enter the arena proper. I'm still trying to find my last .4% ugh!

how do you make iron ingots?
trying to figure out how to make iron ingots? Thanks --Bill Lint
- They can't be made, per se. They're crafted at material traders, for a fairly cheap price. Also, some monsters drop iron ingots. Some items, when salvaged, give iron ingots. The iron ingot article has most of the info you'll need, and links to more info. Calor — talk 04:03, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- If you meant Steel Ingots, I believe you craft them using Iron Ingots; most Artisans will craft Steel using ten Iron and one Charcoal, as well as gold (this is generally more expensive then just buying Steel Ingots from the Rare Material Trader though, I think). Aside from that, like Calor and Kakarot said, there's plenty of ways to simply buy Iron, they're a fairly common crafting material and can be bought cheaply. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:08, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Camera Angle after death
After I die my camera angle changes (not just death view) when I resurrect in game or in a shrine. Before I die I'm looking down on my character at about a 20 degree angle, I can see where I'm going and foes that I'm comming up against as well as some nice scenery. Once I die I'm looking down on my character at about a 50 degree angle (yes when I'm dead I get a nice view from the top but the problem is after reincarnation when I rejoin the game I'm still at a cross between the death view and my normal view). So I get a nice view of my feet and about 25 feet infront of me and nothing else. Is there any way to change the viewing angel of the camera? Tried the roller and it gos in an out but still at the obnoxious angle. I have to quit the game an re-login to get back to the orginal angle.
