Nightfall Primary Quest

I accidentally abandoned a primary quest in Nightfall ( Mysterious Message )with my character "Deathly Apparitions" How can I get the quest back. Did you take the quest For a Price while you had Mysterious Message abandoned? If so, you can no longer take the other quest, since you chose Margrid the Sly instead of the Master of Whispers, and you will be able to continue the story by completing For a Price. The List of Nightfall missions gives you an overview of the storyline, so if what I've said doesn't help, follow that backwards until you can get the quests / do the missions you need. Oops sorry I got that slightly wrong. For a Price is a follow up to Mysterious message. It might be worth going out to Jahai Bluffs and seeing if you can take the next quest from Margrid or Whispers. Maybe you completed the quest instead of abandoning it. :) Biscuits 11:35, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Guild halls

If you purchase a service from the guild lord (a.k.a. a merchant or a dye trader for example) And say you are looking to buy a different guild hall, will those services transfer from the old guild hall to the new guild hall?

Renamed Bosses in Prophecies

Certain bosses in southern Shiverpeaks appear to have been renamed. For example Edibbo Pekpek is now Edibbo Kepkep. Could the developers confirm that this is because someone informed them that 'pek pek' is Cantonese baby talk for someone's bottom? To certain Chinese ears Edibbo Pekpek sounds like 'edible botty'.--Vana Runedottir 06:59, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

The questionable language wasn't Cantonese, I think it may have been Tagalog, and the slang meaning was more offensive than that. — kyrasantae 16:14, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

login problems

The Error code page says: "Guild Wars was unable to connect to any login servers. This is very likely caused by an Internet routing issue" for code 058. This means your connection to the internet is probably down or your cable is unplugged or something similar. Check your internet connection and try again. --Dragon nataku 11:36, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

You might just need to restart your router. It could also be that you have a firewall or something blocking guild wars from accessing the internet. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 18:03, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Considering that the user was able to access the wiki, I'm guessing it's not the user's internet. Most likely Guild Wars is being blocked by something; try again to make sure it wasn't just a one-time thing, then try turning off your firewall temporarily and seeing if that helps. That isnt the only problem. If you have Vista you may just simply need to update your computer. I had my updates turned off because i was annoyed by it coming up constantly but after getting this message in the game I updated everything and it worked again. Perhaps the room you wish to enter in Vent requires a password? Just an idea. Another idea: Try asking on the Ventrilo forums? Stuck at 100%

my game gets stuck at 100% loading and if i use the x to close it has to repair when i reopen

Corrupted files, likely. Try uninstalling and reinstalling (yes, your computer will hate you, but it's probably the only way). Calor 16:00, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Alternatively, try to get a working Gw.dat file from a friend. That stops you needing to download everything again. Biscuits 16:12, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

HoM miniatures

I have some minis I want to dedicate to my perma-pre after she gets LDoA. According to wiki, your accomplishments can be account wide.

If I dedicate the miniatures on one character, will I be able to view them on another character on the same account?

Not the right gold

The gold is shared among Heroes and Henchmen as well, despite the fact that they probably have no use for it. The only way to gain the full amount from a gold drop is to be the only member of your party (solo). -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 06:06, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Routing problems?

Right I've seen another guy with pretty much the same question. HOWEVER let me explain bit more.

When I try to connect at my moms house (kinda shitty connection but ALL my other games works fine) It gives me code=058 or whatever it is, telling me I got a routing issue. Right so I thought maybe its my firewall blocking it, nope its in exceptions. And the game works fine at me dads house on the same PC (yes I bring it with me lol) So the conclusion I've come up with is that its just the router or connection itself not the PC. But I know jack all about routing so I thought maybe someone could lend me a hand, or a tip? anything is welcome.

Little summary;

Internet is not the best but works fine with the exception of GW.

it IS in exceptions on the windows firewall however my Anti Virus program (AVG) im not sure about but I havent found anything blocking it atleast.

My internet IS working while im trying to connect seeing as im typing this aswell.

Its really starting to pee me of now since litteraly everything else works fine but GW just wont let me log in.

Lately its even gotten worse aswell, wont let me get past the "logging on to arenaNet" window.

So Yea I'd apriciate any help asap.

EDIT; Meh I think it's just my internet thats to slow and cant handle it -.- but if anyone have any ideas then feel free to reply :)

Not loading a city

I recently got my ranger to this city in EOTN called Rata Sum. I made it into the city and when i tried to exit, as it was loading when it hit 100% it popped up a screen and says an error has occured and shows a link for more help. Whenever I click Ok or click the website, GW shuts down. I already uninstalled and reinstalled the graphics card and it's still not working. So my character is stuck in that city and i cant access him no more. Please, what do I do?!

Sounds like you have a corrupted Gw.dat file. You'll either need to re-install Guild Wars, and are in for a big download, or get a copy of Gw.dat from a friend. Biscuits 16:52, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

If you got the "Guild Wars has encountered an unrepairable error and the program will be terminated" message error, you might need to upgrade your video card drivers. Some outposts/dungeons from the Eye of the North don't like old/cheap video cards. :( --NIN37 07:57, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

running

When i run in a town or in a mission i run head up and arms singing. But after the dragon's lair mission i run head down arms at my side all my lower level guys run upright. I also sceem to run faster. Is this in the game or Im seeing things I dont know if you see this or where to find this check it out. You're getting a speed boost from somewhere. Running with arms swinging is the default animation, and the head-down, arms straight animation is when you're running faster then normal. Check your effects when you're running like that (top-left corner by default); you've got a stance active, or some sort of enchantment, or an environment effect active. If you had trouble keeping up with the party before, perhaps they had a speed boost. Do you use one of the Warrior henchmen in your party? One of them uses "Charge!", which makes the entire party run faster. Entrance

How do i get into Warband of Brothers, when i go to the Char that takes you there, i get a message saying " Guild Wars has encounteres an unrecoverable graphics driver and must terminate. Clicking on the URL below will open a web page with more information." When i did i followed the directions, but i still cant get into the quest.

Connection issues

having problems logging into Guild Wars. Come up wrong password/account name (code=227) or cannot connect error (code=058).

Nightfall storyline

Level 20 from Eye of the North can't find quests in Nightfall.

I have installed Eye of the North expansion, Nightfall, and Factions Platinum edition. I have spent a great deal of time in Eye of the North, I became a level 20 there. I have gone to Cantha and had many quests and am now trying to find quests in Nightfall. I have completed many Nightfall quests on different character but I am having difficulty finding quests for this one. I have traveled to many parts of Istan and can only find a couple of quests there, each of them said I was reliving the quests. I can't seem to find where to start the storyline for this character in Nightfall. I recruited the sunspears and I did the one where you blow up the two ships with the oil and the catapult. List of Nightfall missions is good for keeping track of the storyline. Sounds like you've done Chahbek Village, so you'll be looking at the quests below it. Also, use the new section ('+') tab at the top for new questions. --חיו Chaiyo Kaldor 23:00, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Problem downloading update.

Could be a corrupted Gw.dat file. If you know someone who plays that can send you their file, try replacing your own with theirs. Otherwise, you'll probably have to reinstall the game, and redownload all of the updates. :P --tero 23:45, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

ive played since guild wars:Prophecies i have some charecters that lvl 20 from the first campign of guild wars(prophecies),i was wonder if i could get my lvl 20 cahrecter the extra 30 arttibouts pointsthat you get in the Nightfall campign from the promotion quests at start

I'm pretty sure you can only get your characters the 30 extra attribute points from their starting campaign. So, a prophecy character would have to get the quests from the desert and the southern shiverpeaks. --JonTheMon 12:44, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

I can't log into guild wars.

Well i can't log into guild wars...when i try to go on my accounts...it says that i can't connect with a code=058 on it...i called my friend...he came over to the exact same computer...logged into his account...and...he logged in. I tried both of my accounts again and still nothing.

According to the Error code page, Code 058 corresponds to a connection issue. Make sure your firewall (if you have one) isnt blocking GW and your internet is properly functioning. -- Wandering Traveler 00:31, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Armor

The looks and the in-game money/materials you spend on it. Next to the statement Elite armor makes "I have reached places to buy elite armor" it can also be placed in your Hall of Monuments.--Silverleaf 08:03, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Glyph of Lesser Energy only works when normal energy level would already suffice

I have trouble with the Glyph of lesser Energy.

I press C to target some roaming single Elemental.

My character's energy level is at -60%, but still 22.

The Glyph costs 2 energy and promises -12 energy needed for the next two spells.

I press Glyph. and my Energy lowers to 17. OK, ready to spell.

I press Quickening Zephyr which would normally need 25, but I reckon with with 25-12: only 13.

All I get is the refuse boing.

Then I press Ice Spikes which needs 15, now 15-12: 3, and that works. My energy diminishes by 3 only.

It seems that the Glyph of Lesser Energy is only applied if one's normal energy level would also be sufficient for the use of a spell.

Considering the Glyph to be a last resort and life saver in situations where one is already weakened I cannot find this fair.

Quickening Zephyr is a Nature Ritual. Glyph of Lesser Energy works on spells only. --fraught · (talk)

Another point is that Quickening Zephyr causes all your skills to cost 30% more energy to cast, so I'm not quite sure why you'd want to drop that spirit when you've got 60% DP and are already having energy problems. :o\ --Dragon nataku 04:00, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Damage Reduction

You have to either buy Nightfall from a shop or buy it from the Guild Wars online store (which is accessible from within the game). There is no "upgrade".- TheRave 20:16, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

If you buy it from the online store when logged it, it will automatically add it to your existing Factions game. If you buy it in a store, you have the option of adding the CD-key to your existing Factions game. -- Inspired to ____ 21:45, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

elite skills

With the one you want to use it with, unless you want to use it on a PvP character. PvP Characters get to use any skill unlocked by any character on the account. PvE characters don't. Calor 22:14, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

i cant change from nightfall area to factions or prophicies

i have game of the year, eye of the north, nightfall, and factions . i am playing a nightfall character and i can map travel to eye of the north but thats it. i installed all product keys on 1 account. not sure if im not far enough along in the game or if im doin something wrong. any help would be apprieciated

Login Problem

im having a problem with loging in to my account

charr damage

There really aren't any damage types that will do more damage to Charr. However, if you have a weapon that includes the suffix of Charrslaying, that will increase the damage. --tero 02:49, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Several keys for one skill?

I have read on the Kilroy Stonekin's punch out extravaganza discussion page, that several buttons can be programmed to ONE skill... Actually, you just need to go into the in-game Options (F11 on the keyboard), and set keys in the Controls section. Any command can be set to multiple keys, so long as those keys are all unused.

I believe what you're trying to do is the "Get Up" skill, or whatever it's called? You just need to set a few (probably only two) buttons to activate Skill Slot 8. Another suggestion, might I add, is a technique I personally use; click the skill icon, AND press the skill button. Go through Menu > Options (F11) > Control.

Find the one called "Action: Use Skill 8" (not exactly sure about the name cause I can't access Guild Wars right now).

Click inside the field below "Type a new key for this action:" and assignate a few Keys to your Skill 8.

pre and post?

1) Please sign your comments (type four ~ thingies) 2) "Pre" refers to "pre-searing," where as "post" would be "post-searing." You are in pre-searing at the moment. The Searing is an event that occurs after you join the Ascalon Academy (which you can only do after you acquire a secondary profession and speak to Sir Tydus in Ascalon City). After The Searing you will get to the real part of the game (pre-searing is meant to be a tutorial. An incredibly long one, but a tutorial nonetheless). this sounds like you bought a used account. if that's the case, you can simply delete all existing characters. the only thing that will stay are account-wide achievements like faction, ranks and account titles. if you're just overall looking for some startup tips, i'd recommend just following the storyline of your campaign ^^ if i'm totally wrong with all this, please tell me :) - Y0_ich_halt 17:54, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

I cannot save screenshots or builds

Somehow i cannot store any screenshots or builds in my GW folders. How can I solve this problem?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:212.127.132.67 (talk).

Is it coming up with any kind of error message when attempting to save them? If not are you sure you are looking the correct place? When taking the screenshot it shows the location where it is saved. This could be in a subfolder in the main Guild Wars folder or it could be in a Guild Wars folder in your "My Documents" folder. Check the location which the game says it is saving.- TheRave 15:09, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Lemme guess, you just upgraded to Vista? Same thing happened to me. Vista doesn't save them in the GuildWars folder in Program Files, unlike XP. Like TheRave said, check your Documents folder, specifically C: => Users => (the folder with the name of the user you use) => Documents => GuildWars => Screens (or Templates for builds). If you're transferring screenshots/builds you've had before, you'll have to take a screenshot ingame to create the folder (doesn't matter of what) and then delete that screenshot you just took and move all of your previous screenies into the folder. Same with builds. I'm pretty sure manually creating the folder (i.e., outside of GuildWars game) yourself won't work. Also, like TheRave said, your game will always show you the file path in green text whenever you take a screenie. I hope that helps! --Dragon nataku 16:07, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, but you can get it from him on Sacnoth Valley immediately after completing Falling Out, and The Hunting of the Charr takes place just inside Rragar's Menagerie, which he is just outside the entrance of at the end of Falling Out. Monk Monument Armor

All armor can be dyed. There are some (very few) individual armor pieces that the dye has no effect, for instance the Male Monk Monument sandals will remain the same.- TheRave 14:07, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Well, the only armour examples I know offhand that can't be dyed are things like Glacial Gauntlets and the Blindfold. Maybe some others, dunno. Of course, I have a feeling that TheRave means you can dye those sandals but the colour won't change at all, like if you dye Chaos Gloves black/white (as opposed to any other colour), whereas the other two I mentioned I think just don't dye at all (not sure though as I have not bothered acquiring those myself :op ) --Dragon nataku 15:16, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
