guild wars 2
when is guild wars 2 coming out? (83.217.165.174 09:42, 15 June 2009 (UTC))

there is a rumour that guild wars 2 is coming out in 2011 or it is the BETA testing date. (83.217.165.174 08:31, 16 June 2009 (UTC))

insignia
will it work if you use insignia armor +10[while attacking] on all armor pieces or will you get the affect of only one insignia--122.104.152.66 07:27, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- The armor won't stack, eg. you won't get +50 armor with 5 Insignia's. Note however, attacks can hit on different parts of the body (head, chest, arms, legs, feet). So if you would only have one of those Insignia's on your head, only your 'head' will get +10 armor when attacking. If you are hit on the chest, the bonus won't trigger. Best thing to do would be placing an insignia on all armor pieces. See also Brawler's Insignia. --Arduinna 09:00, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
GuildWars for Mac
I was just wondering if ArenaNet was having any idea's of making GuildWars for Mac. We recently purchased a mac and I had guildwars on the old computer. I want to play again. If ArenaNet or NCSoft is thinking about making GW for mac, please tell me Junoxenofided 15:18, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Jon

shield upgrade
I have a gold celestial shield that reduces physical damage by 2. I bought a shield handle of fortitude to upgrade that shield, but the game won't allow me to apply the handle to the shield-- --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:24.2.93.145 (talk).
- That's odd. According to the Upgrade component article, any item should be able to accept a suffix component of the appropriate type (like a shield handle "of fortitude"). Are you trying to upgrade it while it is equipped, especially if it's equipped on a hero? Sometimes that doesn't work, so if you are, try putting it in your inventory or in storage before attempting the upgrade. Also, please sign your comments with 4 ~'s. - Uninscribable shields don't accept shield handles. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 21:18, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Is that true? Because the upgrade component article doesn't have an exception for uninscribable items, and I'm pretty sure I've added suffix components to Prophecies collector items. Freedom Bound 21:45, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yea, shields from proph/factions/UW/FoW (excluding the end chests) can't be modded by anything. Shield handles, just like inscriptions, didn't exist until nightfall. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 22:04, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

guilds
Can you guys make it to where guild wars players can create custom logos on their guild capes --74.193.179.212 20:01, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Murky water there... it would have to go through an approval method so that people do not select innapropriate images... as with the current discussion over inappropriate names I believe images will be even harder to police... I do not believe this feature will be added... tho if you are offering a game suggestion this is also not the place to post... MrPaladin talk 20:06, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- First of all "us guys" are just players like you, we are not ArenaNet. You are making a suggestion, which we can't do anything with. I would guess the answer would be no, since it would require somehow getting your image made into a texture file and into the server, which considering the number of guilds there are, would end up using an awful lot of artist/programmer time. -- Wyn 20:13, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Elite Skills
I would like to know why I can only use one elite skill in my skill bar at a time? If I have more than one elite skill I believe I should be able to use more than one at a time. I feel if you gain the skill, a character should be able to use as many as they wish too. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.88.209.139 (talk).
- It's a balance issue. Elite skills are, well, elite, so if a player could use more than one at time the game would be very different. Also, you can technically use more than one at a time, if you consider the use of a capped elite skill in the same explorable area using two at a time. Freedom Bound 13:00, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- That would not make them elite at all... more elites on your bar, but that involves stealing them or copying them from friends using mesmer skills or capturing them in the zone your in... Elite skills are too strong to mix, Some of them I consider too strong on their own, while others do need a boost... MrPaladin talk 13:08, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Hero Upkeep-Enchantments
I have equipped Ogden Stonehealer with some enchantment spells that has energy upkeep (ex. "Divine Boon" or "Live Vicariously"). He is able to cast them, i.e. energy is lost and there's no message about invalid target or something, but when he has targeted someone else than himself (like me or another hero) the enchanment has no effect, it's like it never was casted. No sign or icon or anything. He is able to enchant himself but seems very unable to enchant anyone else.
Why can't heroes, like Ogden Stonehealer, cast upkeep req. enchantment spells at targeted heroes or players or at anyone at all?--90.231.211.175 07:42, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- He casts them but he won't maintain them. This is a long standing issue with the hero AI. If you wish to have maintained enchantments on a hero bar, you have to manually apply them, but disabling them the skill bar, and then applying them as you wish. Once applied that way, he will keep them on. -- Wyn 07:49, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- During combat, heroes will cast the skills when they feel they should be used, which is usually at very bad times. Watch him and he will use the skills on his own, but will cancel them when he feels they are no longer useful (again, usually at very badtimes). Simply shift-click the icon and then manually apply it. There are some exceptions to this general rule, however; skills such as Unyielding Aura will be used perfectly: they'll cast it as soon as possible and maintain it until the moment someone dies (often resurrecting them so quickly the person will not know for sure if they died until they see the death penalty). --Jette 08:13, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

About Vampiric & Zealous weapon mods
I actually have two questions, the second being more just a thought. First: Since life stealing isn't considered damage in game mechanics, a vampiric mod on e.g. daggers will "add" to the base dmg. Since some bosses like Cyndr are immune to dmg but vulnerable to life stealing my question is: Is it theoretically possible to kill Cyndr using ONLY vampiric daggers (of course w/ a health deg skill) assuming it could take A WHILE? Secondly: Since all Zealous upgrades (no matter on which wep) gains an equal amount of energy stealing and energy deg. Doesn't slow weps, e.g. hammers and hornbows, have a disadvantage comparing to other, faster weapons? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:195.189.143.46 (talk).
- Yes (although you'd have to be fast enough to counter the natural health regeneration that bosses have), and yes (there's a nice chart in the Zealous article with detail on that particular trait, or you can see the Vampiric article). Freedom Bound 00:42, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Henchmen healer. Death. Why?
I have been playing Guild Wars with only henchmen as to gain a bit more independence on this game and i have died. My party is still alive, and my healer is as well. And yet she does not heal me or resurrect me. Why is this? Is it possible for me to order her to resurrect me, or can i resurrect myself?--75.15.84.195 20:27, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- That sounds strange. Make sure who you are using and on which campaign. In Prophecies, all three, Lina, Alessia and Mhenlo have a reusable resurrection skill. Mhenlo, since can't be recruited as a henchman, doesn't have a resurrection skill in Factions. In Factions, Danika, when used as a henchman uses a res skill; So do Jamei, Redepmtor Karl, Seaguard Gita, Sister Tai and Taya. In Nightfall, both Kihm and Mhenlo have a res skill. You can check their skill bars here (Select the henchman you want to see). What you might want to consider is the energy management. You may have to wait until your monk has enough energy to cast the res skill. Also, no you can't order her to res you, and you also can't resurrect yourself. -- Large 20:40, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- By any chance, someone else in your party has a resurrect skill (while you yourself do not have such)?
- From Hero behavior page: Heroes (and henchmen) are able to tell which dead allies have usable resurrection skills, and prioritize them when resurrecting an ally..
- So, either make sure everyone has a resurrect skill (AI will prioritize to resurrect human players) or no one else has (IIRC, every single henchmen have one, but most of them just bring a single-use Resurrection Signet), so a player's death brings everyone back to the Resurrection Shrine. --NIN37 02:46, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Togo's Story
I am stuck at the beginning of Togo's Story. How do you get out alive? And where is Wona hiding?
- You get out by being a two-fisted hard-ass that don't take shit from nobody, blasting a muhfucka left and right wit' three copies of Pain and that pimpin' rage skill. Just treat it like a cheap action movie (or one with a 100M budget, there's no difference except the quality of the explosion at the end and how many homicides the lead actor has committed) and send your comic relief sidekick (i.e. talon) in first to get killed over and over while you set up spirits and pound everything to pieces with that gimped 300-damage AoE spell. And I thought Ancestor's Rage was bad... make sure you use Disenchantment when you finally get to Wona, his stupid armor of earth is annoying and chances are he'll shockwave your spirits. --Jette 20:36, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- And now for a serious answer: unfortunately the latest skill balance update that changed a lot of Ritualist spirit skills had a negative effect on the balance of the The Tengu Accords, especially Master Riyo. The development team is aware of this, and they're working on a fix, but we can't tell you when that will happen. You'll probably have to wait it out.
- Skill chances aside, The Tengu Accords are the hardest mission in the Bonus Mission Pack. You have to know your skillbar well and use it to the best of your abilities. you have the very powerful Dragon Empire Rage at your disposal, and should start using it as soon as possible, but try not to have it recharging when you need it the most. You have to do a lot of things at once: Create spirits, deal damage and heal allies and yourself, while keeping track of the coditional requirements of some skills, and that can get overwhelming, but the only solution is practice. I'd recommend you read The Tengu Accords article for tips. There's also a map if you can't find the side entrance. — Poki#3 (talk) 23:53, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, right, I forgot they superbuffed ritualists, I imagine it would be harder now. I just played through it, it was worse than before but not too awful. The first difficult part was the hall full of a ridiculous number of estate guards, but it's intimidating only in appearance -- cuddle up with Talon and the moment they're all in range, cast Dragon Rage and they'll all just drop simultaneously. The next problem is Yuri the Hand. The key to victory with him is just Disenchantment -- you'll have to use it to strip his enchantments or he'll be able to stay alive a pretty long time. Once they're down, though, just summon your other three spirits and he'll drop pretty easily. As I said before, let Talon tank if possible. After that, wait to regenerate your health and energy, then walk up to Master Riyo or whoever. Trigger his speech, then summon spirits while he rambles. Get ready to dodge, because he's much stronger than Yuri was. Spirit Rift him and his spirits when you can, avoid all the spirit attacks you can (especially wanderlust), and when you get the chance, Rage him after he's under 50% health. Don't do it if there are any spirits near him though, Wanderlust in particular. Once he's dead, hide in a corner, recast your spirits, and wait for the students to turn hostile. They drop pretty easily, the eles go down in one hit from DER and the rangers usually focus on Talon -- even if they don't, just hide behind a pillar and wear them down, I don't think they can heal. The next part is without doubt the hardest if you want the bonus: all of them will converge on you and Talon, and it won't all be at once. Every guard will be killed by DER, but you have to have them all gathered to use it because you will not survive the 30-second recharge. It's mostly a luck thing if you want to keep Talon alive, but if you don't care, just cast your spirits as they run towards you, let them kill the spirits and Talon, then DER them when they're all around you. The next two are boss fights, but very easy -- spirits and good timing with Spirit Rift will drop whatsherface easily, and as long as you use Disenchantment to strip Wona's Armor of Earth, he's a pushover as well. Try to dodge the projectiles though, and stand away from your spirits so he's less likely to Eruption them. --Jette 00:26, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

How do I make a 55hp N/Mo in the Factions Campaign?
Hi,
I'm trying to make the famous, 'Solo Necro' build with my Factions character, but one of the vital parts of the build - Grim Cesta (-50hp) - is apparently only received after completing the 'Cities of Ascalon' quest, which is a part of the Prophecies campaign.
Is there any way possible that I could still make this 'Solo Necro' using a different item that is available in the Factions campaign, or is there a way to get the Grim Cesta (-50hp) with my Factions character?
Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated, as it is frustrating me tons.
Mando. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 124.183.165.97 (talk).
- Well, you can buy it from another player, but no, there is no comparable item in the Factions campaign. Freedom Bound 11:59, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- To clarify slightly, you can get -20HP offhands in all the campaigns, which will give you 85 health; after dying once and respawning with Death Penalty, the result can put you at somewhere around 13 health, if I remember correctly (you can mix-and-match armor pieces to adjust your health more from there). So if you can't simply buy a -50 Cesta off someone, finding a normal -20 offhand may work as well. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 13:47, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- Ok thanks, I might try the -20hp thing. But I have heard that you can take a Factions character back into the Prophecies campaign, and vice-versa, firstly - is this possible? secondly - If it is, does that mean that I would be able to get the Grim Cesta (-50hp)?? (even if it means i have to buy the Prophecies game).
- Any help would be great,
- Mando. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 124.183.165.97 (talk).
- While you can take a Factions character to Prophecies if you own both campaigns, that particular quest is only available for Prophecies-born characters. What you could do, however, is get Prophecies, create a character there, do the quest and transfer the Grim Cesta to your Faction chara. Yanna Cor & family 09:26, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- Cities of Ascalon requirements are pretty easily attained.
- As long as you have an empty character slot in your account, you should be able to create a dummy Prophecies character, go through the searing, beat first mission and do the quest to "farm" those -50 Grim Cesta (transfer it to your Xunlai Storage, delete the dummy character and start over if you need extra copies of the item). --NIN37 10:40, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

- Missions are usually balanced having 8-player party in mind (earlier missions allow only 4 players, above mentioned Factions missions allow two 8-player parties; some missions/challenges are single-player).
- If you want to start a mission with your friend, you'll need to be on the same party. --NIN37 10:32, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

eye of the north char
how do you make a eye of the north char --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:98.242.225.186 (talk).
- Eye of the North Is an expansion, the only one for Guild Wars. To get to Eye of the North you have to have at least 1 Campaign and have a character reach level 10. Once your level 10 you will need to do one of 3 quests to get to Eye of the North.
Access to GW:EN is via quests given by:
- Len Caldoron in Lion's Arch
- Minister of Maintenance Raiugyon in Kaineng Center
- Bendah in Kamadan.-- Drogo Boffin 01:42, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
will a used guild wars game work on another account?
im looking at buying factions used, but i dont know if it will work. Will my account be affected in any way? What are your suggestions. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:207.161.198.242 (talk).
- No, it won't. People selling used copies of guild wars are usually idiots or trying to rip you off. You can't buy the game used, you need a fresh copy. --Jette 18:49, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

3d models
how can i get the 3d models and textures from the Gw.dat. (if i even can) thx in advance. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:99.196.137.68 (talk).
- I am not sure about this one but Im gonna give it a shot. The only program that I know of for getting textures and whatnot from GW is TextMod. Drogo Boffin 19:59, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- TexMod will only get you the textures, however. You'll need to find another manner to extract the 3D models themselves (I'm not sure how easy this is to manage). -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:39, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

What is a Perfect weapon/offhand?
Just a question about what makes a weapon perfect. Specifically the requirement #. Wiki says "Maximum damage, and sometimes an attribute requirement of 9 (8 or 7 in rare cases)". The word Sometimes confuses me. Does this mean that sometimes you find a max dmg weapons/offhand with a rq of 9 (8 or 7 in rare cases) but other times you find them with a higher rq 10-13???--24.17.58.165 22:26, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- This is a good question. In general I would say with weapons of your class stay with the req of 9-10. If you are a caster then using a sword, axe or spear and shield with a high req are fine.(edit) On rare occasions you will find weapons with a req of 7-8, that isnt really a requirement unless your doing something specific and you can only reach an attribute level of 7-8 but still need the full benefit of meeting the requirement. Drogo Boffin 22:31, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- Generally speaking, a requirement of nine with max stats in everything else would be considered perfect; I suppose you could call a similar weapon with a requirement of eight or seven better than perfect (which makes no sense, yes).
- I don't think the name "perfect" was thought up with consideration to the rare instances of lower-than-nine requirement weapons.
- Most max weapons will range in requirement from thirteen to nine, and very rarely, will appear with a requirement of eight or seven. (not positive, but I don't think requirement seven max weapons drop anymore.) if you use green weapons as a measuring stick, all non-newbie greens are "perfect", requirement nine. (newbie greens drop early in the game, and generally have high, but non-max stats with a low requirement.) -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:38, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- The term "Perfect" Is generally used to define an item that is Req. 9 with all max stats for all mods on it. Drogo Boffin 04:41, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Lornicks
I know Wine can make GW run in Linux, I did it once, but anti-aliasing didn't work for some reason. I haven't tried it in forever, but is there a work around or has that problem been fixed? I'm considering deleting the Windows boot partition on this computer because Windows is really stupid, and I'm tired of having to use it for GW and, more importantly, TexMod. Speaking of which, is there a decent alternative to that that will work on Lunix? I know some people wrote one specifically for GW a while back, but they're being gay and won't actually release it. --Jette 15:48, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- You can install various graphics filter in Linux, but I'm not sure which one you'd need for Guild Work. Using a GTK++ type workspace could fix it. As for a TexMod variant, check developer circles, namely SourceForge. ··· cedave 18:14, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Augury Rock
I have been playing Guild Wars for a while now, on my Warrior, Vatha Kourum. I have completed eye of the north, most of factions and nightfall, and started on Propecies. I made it to the Crystal Desert, and attempted to enter Augury Rock. However, upon entering, my laptop crashed and I was left restarting it. Now everytime I try to go onto my Warrior, it tries loading Augury Rock, and freezes on a black screen. What has happened, and what can I do to fix it? I am not prepared to throw away the time that I spent on him so easily. Thanks.207.5.221.100 22:41, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Survivor & Defender of Ascalon title on the same chara - possible?
It is known that one character can only have one of these titles since you have to death level to get the latter. But what if a person uses the following tactic: The player goes to the northlands/wherever he wants to death level, and summons the Fire Imp (Igneous summoning stone). Then he aggro the foe he wants to level up and let it kill the fire imp. Since the Imp can gain xp from killing (as stated in the wiki article about it) it seems logical that monsters can get xp by killing it. Now when the imp is killed and the foe has got its xp, the player runs away. He then waits for 60 minutes, summons the Imp again and repeats the procedure. When the monster has levelled up enough, the player kills it and gets xp (without being killed a single time!). I think this proves that a single character CAN get both the Survivor title AND the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title (even though it would take a ridicously long time)! 195.189.143.42 12:34, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- You could do it that way. Or you could just run into ANet's office with a semiautomatic and tell them to give you all the titles you want. That would be easier and take less time, including the prison sentence. --Jette 12:49, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- It would be easier, yes, to do it that way, but then you wouldn't get the titles :D 195.189.142.153 14:08, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Once, I tried checking whether it would be a "doable" thing...
- <HugeWallOfTextMode>
- XP earned scales within the level difference (low level creatures killing high level ones get more XP; low level creatures levels up faster; the stronger they become, less XP they'll earn).
- Well, let's assume you've somehow magically managed to reach level 19 without dieing.
- Now let's try to death level those level 7~8 Charrs using our trustworthy Fire Imp ally.
- Hmmm, for a level 19 character/creature to death level a level 8 enemy to level 20, it would be required to die ~700 times (level 8 to 9 requires ~23 deaths; 9 to 10, ~26; ...; 18 to 19, ~102; level 19 to 20 requires ~128 deaths).
- Since a single player can only summon 1 ally per hour, 700 deaths means 700 hours (using the summoning stone on the clock).
- That's... ~29 days. :X
- Well, sad fact you'd get a Error code=059 every 24 hours... (but it seems be possible to bypass this 24-hour cap because high scores used to record players being AFK in The Aurios Mines for over 2 or 3 days before Ritualists replaced Monks there).
- OK, let's assume you've managed to keep your GW running for 1 month (without being kicked from the game)... and managed to death level a Charr to level 20.
- Killing a level 20 mob with a level 19 character nets an awesome 120 XP.
- Which would mean 1440 XP per year... So your character would need 9 years to get from level 19 to level 20.
- Now remember we have to make our level 19 Fire Imp be killed by level 8 Charrs without wiping them first.
- And we haven't even discussed how it would be possible to get to level 19 to start with. :P
- </HugeWallOfTextMode>
- ...so, never mind, let's keep the "Legendary Defender of Ascalon" and "Survivor" titles are mutually exclusive statement. :D --NIN37 16:15, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Heh, I thought it would take even longer (was going to calculate that myself, but I was too slow). Well, I didn't really expect it to be doable, just wanted to know that it might maybe perhaps somehow be theoretically possible. - 9 years (clicking once a minute) = from level 19 to level 20.
- From level 16 (which should not require death leveling) to level 19 should take another 30 years or so... :P --NIN37 23:49, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

- Please create new topics when asking new questions. I think maybe you have to explain what you mean by "I cannot find it". Your pet will only appear when you have Charm Animal equipped and are in an explorable area (not a town or outpost). If you gave it away to a Pet Trainer, or dropped it off at the menagerie, it's gone, but you can always get another one. For more info, see Animal Companion and Charm Animal.
