Report
The Report system is used to inform ArenaNet or NCsoft about players that are behaving unfairly and/or are operating against the EULA.
There are two methods of reporting: the in-game /report
command, and creating a support ticket.
The /report
system only allows reporting of players in the current district. The website must be used for all other cases. In general, a report via the website is more useful to the support team because it provides more information.
“If you have issues with players outside your district, a simple support ticket will prompt an investigation and, when appropriate, the Support Team will take action on the account involved in abuse, racism, harassment, or other inappropriate behavior. The /report system is one means to get in touch, but in a sense, it's rather one-dimensional. All reports through that system are reviewed and the appropriate action is taken, of course. But a support ticket actually gives the player much more latitude on who, when, how, and what he or she reports. A ticket lets them give details, and those details are often what makes it possible to see what happened and take the appropriate action. So I encourage players to report abuse or harassment issues via tickets in cases beyond, say, a passing incident observed within a district.

Interface[edit]
To report a character in the same district and outpost as yours:
- Select the player you want to report, and type
/report
(in the chat window). - Type
/report [Character Name]
, using the character's name (without anyone selected).
There are currently six options available:
- Botting
Reporting a player for botting sends a notification to the GM team. GMs may conduct a careful review of that player's behavior. If it is confirmed that the player has been running a bot, that player's account will be banned.
WARNING: Abuse of the report feature may lead to your account being banned. - Inappropriate Character Name
Reporting a player for having an inappropriate character name sends a notification to the GM team. GMs may review the name. If a player is found to have a name that violates the User Agreement, that player may be required to rename the character.
WARNING: Abuse of the report feature may lead to your account being banned. - Spamming
Reporting a player for spamming sends a notification to the GM team. GMs will conduct a careful review of a player's behavior once a report of "Spamming" is received. If a player is found to have been repeating messages excessively, that player's account may be banned.
WARNING: GM actions will be based on a review of chat logs, not on unsubstantiated player reports. Abuse of the report feature may lead to your account being banned. - Verbal Abuse
Reporting a player for verbal abuse sends a notification to the GM team. GMs may conduct a careful review of that player's behavior. If a player is found to have engaged in verbal abuse in violation of the User Agreement or the Rules of Conduct, that player's account may be banned.
WARNING: GM actions will be based on a review of chat logs, not on unsubstantiated player reports. Abuse of the report feature may lead to your account being banned. - Scamming
When you report a player for scamming, it sends a notification to the GM team. GMs may conduct a careful review of that player's behavior. If the player is found to have been scamming, that player's account may be banned.
WARNING: GM actions will be based on a review of chat logs, not on unsubstantiated player reports. If you abuse the report feature, it may lead to your account being banned. - Leeching (This option is disabled in Random Arenas after March 26, 2024 update).
Reporting a teammate for leeching gives that player 2 dishonor points. If at least half of your team reports this player, a further penalty will be applied preventing any faction or XP gain in this match. If, however, a third or less of your team reports this player, you will also be given 2 dishonor points for issuing an unsupported report. Players with 10 or more dishonor points are temporarily prohibited from participating in PvP.
WARNING: Abuse of the report feature may lead to your account being banned.
Notes[edit]
- The Leeching option is greyed out (i.e. cannot be selected) unless you are in an active PvP match. Rolling over the box displays the message:
- "You may only report a player for leeching while participating in a Random Arena match, Alliance Battle, or Competitive Mission. You cannot report opposing players for leeching."
- You cannot use the
/report
command more than 20 times from the same account within a 24 hour period. - To use this tool, the character you are reporting must be in the exact same district and outposts as yours.
Creating a support ticket[edit]
Support tickets can be created from the Guild Wars Player Support website.
