The anon is talking about the old dye system, if I read correctly (armors used to be dyed default colors, and there wasn't any such thing as grey dye). I don't think there's any chance of the old system being brought back; it was switched to the current system for a reason, namely some dyeing problems, I believe. changinging questing from nightfall to prophicies

Once you get to Prophecies, you can pick up the storyline from any Mission. Prophecies is a bit different from Nightfall in the fact that you don't need to beat any quests before starting a mission, so simply get to the nearest mission you can find and roll right into the storyline. how do i use VENT

Download the current version of ventrilo. Best to use google search. Then, you will see some tabs; type in server/ip/pw ect. Your guild/guest should have all the information. Then, simply press connect. You should hear a noise (not sure how to describe it; like chimes I guess). You will then see yourself in the default channel under User (guest). Runes

Why did i have only +1 marksmenship when I added 6 runes of the same kind (each on to a seperate armor piece), each rune was(non-stacking), and added +1 marksmenship.--76.23.213.58 21:28, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Non-stacking means that adding multipe of these will not gain you anymore benefit than added one of them. Headgears are an example of when something will stack, a +1 marksmanship mask will add to a minor (+1) marksmanship to give you +2 marksmanship. Simply adding more than one of the same rune will not cause you attribute to rise more than one point. Lyra Valo 21:35, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Also worth noting, while the bonuses of such runes never stack, the downsides do stack. So if you wear a Marksmanship +3, -75hp Superior Rune, AND a Marsmanship +2, -35hp Major Rune, only the highest one will give a bonus (total of +3 Marksmanship), while BOTH health penalties will stack (total of -110hp). You can still get the title without this area. You must have a character which is a year old. So if you deleted your first character you might still have a while to wait. You can use the /age command on a character which will tell you the age in months of a character. If you do that on your oldest character and find it is over 12 months and you don't have a present you should contact game support. --Aspectacle 00:08, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Were you in Ascalon City? If so, there's two versions of Ascalon City, the past version and the present version. You can't reach the present version until you complete Ascalon Academy, moving the timeline forward two years. -- Gordon Ecker 03:54, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

So long as you're both in the same exact city and district, you should both be able to see each other. If you're not seeing him, chances are one of you is in the wrong place; make sure it's the same town, make sure it's the same district number, and make sure you're on the same region (when you check the top of the screen, it'll tell you "American - English - 2" or something of the like, make sure you're both in the same exact one on all counts). A guide for pre-searing? There's not too much to the area, and you can only get a few skills. I can't remember which skills exactly you can get... you're best off looking for a general Pre-Searing guide (probably a few out there), or just look for a general "getting started" guide, if you're a new player. Menu transparency

Well the targeting was just one example. The transparency effect is almost all over the GUI; chat box - trader menu's - skill floaters... after a while it gets annoying imo. Thanks for that link, gonna check it out. Erszebet 15:06, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

attribute points

I'm a level 19 Ele/Necro who just realized that I'm just 15 attribute points away from my max (not counting the bonus missions much later), and that I'm far away from the ideal point configuration. I have 9 in Death Magic, 14 in Air Magic, and 7 in energy storage. The problem is, my undead only get really good at 15+ Death Magic, my air magic skills only get really good at 15-20 Air Magic, and I keep running out of energy (I'm sacrificing 1 of my 4 energy regen pips for a +20 energy bonus)! It seems like I'm covered nowhere and the only way to get good is to completely cut out my 2nd profession. What am I supposed to do? --76.106.15.180 22:18, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Here's what you do. Drop the -1/+15 focus. Spec 12+1+2 Fire 12 Energy. Go cap Elemental Attunement. Buy a Mesmer secondary and Arcane Echo. Now run Arcane Echo, Rodgort's Invocation, Liquid Flame, (optional), (optional), Fire Attunement, Elemental Attunement, Rez Signet. Throw at least one AoE into the optional slots. And what that guy is trying to say is that you should never, ever run minions on anything but a necro primary. They're just too expensive without Soul Reaping, and they're a lot less effective than a build that suits your primary. --71.229.204.25 22:31, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

For a minion master, you pretty much want to be going full Necro, forget about the Ele. Secondary professions are nice sometimes, but in some cases they just get in the way. A Primary Necro gets energy every-time a creature dies, via the Soul Reaping attribute, which is usually maxed out for an MM. Energy Storage is not going to give you anywhere near as much energy as you need. If you want to play MM, you're either going to have to be very inovative to make an E/N build, or make a Necro. :) Check out PvX Wiki for some nice build suggestions to get you started (it's down right now, but should be back soon). Sorry, I got caught up in the replies. You didn't actually say you wanted to be a Minion Master at all. If you're not going for that, the Blood and Curses lines have some nicer necro skills that will be more effective at lower attribute points. Biscuits 22:51, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

I generally go with 12+1+3 for one of the elemental attributes and either 12+1 Energy Storage or 8+1 or 6+1 Energy Storage and 10 or 11 in a secondary profession's attribute. If you're in Prophecies, you won't be able to cap Elemental Attunement until just before the last three missions, I recommend Glyph of Lesser Energy (or Glyph of Energy if you aren't using the elite slot for something else) as a substitute until you cap Elemental Attunement. In Factions and Nightfall, Elemental Attunement can be capped fairly early. As for Necromancer skills, Rotting Flesh is quite effective against fleshy non-human foes. -- Gordon Ecker 00:17, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

I have a Vista computer too and this problem happens to me as well; but if you wait long enough, the program always starts. If for some reason GW isn't starting at all, restart your computer or reinstal GW. -AyaStowar

Sometimes the intial load-up screen pops up twice when there isn't an update, but otherwise I don't have any problems in the least bit with GW on Vista. Make sure that your shortcuts all work and that Guild Wars has all its necessary files to run. (gw.dat, tmp file, Gw Client, and the Guild Wars shortcut, etc.) --Alreajk

lag

I need help with load and lag time. For some reason it takes a really long time for my game to load and when it does it lags really badly. I deleted my history, temp files, etc.. and even went so far as to wipe my hard drive clean by reinstalling my os but even that didnt help. I even bought an external hard drive for more memory and that too did not work. I set all in game settings to lowest in options menu but no go. Lag like that generally isn't your computer's fault, but the internet connection. What sort of connection do you have?

One thing I would suggest right off the bat would be to go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup (assuming you've got windows XP here, although it should be similar for other versions of windows). Once you're in there, clean up your temporary internet files; it might not seem like much, but sometimes that can be a huge source of lag.

Aside from that, if you've got the system requirements and a fast internet connection, then I don't see what the problem is; if you've got a Firewall, that might be slowing things down, so you could try (temporarily) disabling it and trying again, just to see if it goes faster. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but you need to use the Powder Kegs to shatter her carapace. Once that's shattered she's vulnerable to damage for a certain amount of time, until she restores her carapace. Then you need to do the same procedure again until she's dead. And concerning the 'she is gone and suddenly returns': That's a feature wurms and alike have, being able to burrow themselves and reappear at another location. Sunspear Arena Warrior (1-10)

Can someone plz give me some tips and some builds, are a place to find builds that are good for that? the rule you need to apply is called "common sense". your build needs to survive and deal damage at the same time, that's correct. since you're a warrior, you have a good point to start with your relatively high armor. now take something to heal, i.e. healing signet. i'm rather sure you have it. then, depending on your weapon, choose three to four attacks, which should involve one source of Deep Wound. but what if they run away? take a snare (Cripple or several hexes) and one stance that makes you move faster (Sprint, Enraging Charge,...). that's already five to six of eight skills. now, of course, Resurrection Signet. Not Resurrect or something, take the signet, it's all you need. the last skill is your own choice. another self heal, defense, an interrupt skill, removing enchantments from others... just look out: your build must not require more energy than you can bring up! now that you're set, go in and hope your team has high levels. - Y0_ich_halt 18:27, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Final Thrust is always a good choice, especially seeing as most lower-level players won't have as much health the work with... (edit confict):You can get a shield with a "Master of my Domain" inscription, which gives you a 20% chance of raising your attribute by one when using skills... that'll let you occasionally reach 17 in your shield's attribute. I think there may be a way to trade for these from a collector, but I'm not sure... the one way I know you get these is the final day of the event, when you get your hats. After you get your hat during one of the "showings", then presents start dropping in towns (reserved for players). You can collect a pretty big number of presents this way. Although the mission is set in the Garden of Sebhorim, it's actually called Tihark Orchard. To defeat the mime, you need to learn to recognise male ranger emotes. One thing that can make it slightly easier is to queue up emotes, for example /roar /beg /pickme etc., then use the up arrow to select them. You need to get 10 right in a row, not 15 as stated. getting to the underworld

That's an error on ANet's part, kinda. The 1 plat UW is a very large and complex area with rare drops and difficult enemies, while the Primeval Kings UW is a separate branch of the UW that can't be reached from the 1 platinum UW, but is relatively easy and small. Because the demons ripped open a portal at the Tomb of the Primeval Kings that anyone can just walk through. The Zaishen Order make you fight for the privilege of using their Underworld portal on the Battle Isles, and the avatars make you pay for the privilege of being taken into the Fissure of Woe or the Underworld. Phoenix isn't available as a quest reward. It's a Prophecies campaign skill, se even if it's unlocked, it will only be available from Prophecies skill trainers. You can get to Lion's Arch by completing the Chaos in Kryta quest from Guardsman Chienpo in Kaineng Center if you have Factions, or by completing Terror in Tyria from Deras Tenderlin in Kamadan if you have Nightfall. A more direct answer: Skills that you unlock via Balthazar faction will not make it available to roleplaying characters. Unlocked skills are only automatically available for PvP characters and heroes. Tormented Shield skin

Another thing worth noting is that the animation on the Tormented weapons in particular, as well as some enviroment effects, will stop being animated after a certain period of time (somewhere around... two hours, I think). i already installed nightfall on my CP. do i need to install another campeign before i add the acess key to my nightfall account or can i just add the key with out installing the other campeign????

Guild Wars has one client that comes with all the campaigns and expansions. If you installed it once, you just have to run it and it'll get the updates for you. Accessing all the content, of course, requires keys for each - but even if you can't access it, it has been downloaded.

New Gaming Ideas For An old Gamer.

This is Pretty much a broad question for anyone of intrest...Where Can i go site wise to list suggestions for improving certain aspects of the game? Every day for 2 and 1/2 years during all four campaigns.. i've notice many things that would greatly inhance my playing experience. but for lack of effort on my part have not seem to places to list them other than ingame. i don't really want to step onto anybodys toes ..but 14 characters and a ton of exp and materials alike..i would desperatly like a few changes to at least renew my otherwise dying intrest in a game i've been faithful to since it's inception in beta.

To have four slots in your storage (and then one materials slot) you need to own Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall. Owning Eye of the North doesn't matter because it's an expansion, not a campaign. Calor (t) 02:31, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Actually, EotN counts also for the item storage expansion if i recall right, but there is a maximum of 4 slots regardless what expansions do you own. Is someone harrassing you? If so, you can report them and they'll probably get banned (probably temporarily at first, but if they keep it up they'll eventually get permanently banned). You can also block messages from up to 10 accounts with the ignore list. You can also set your player status to "offline", but player status gets reset to the default status (Online) whenever you switch characters or log back in. -- Gordon Ecker 03:57, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

To set your status to offline, just press "N" to bring up the friends menu, and hit the little drop-down menu on that. You can set yourself to be Online, Offline, Away, or Do Not Disturb. So basically when I got to LA I went on to GW:EN and only just got started. I didnt coplete any of the quests. My problem is when I view my quest log it still shows those quests as still open even though my trial period expired weeks ago. I would abandon them but the abandon button isn't active. You need to pay a one time fee to play the game. Once you've payed that, you can play for an infinate amount of time. You can buy expantions to the game, but you only need to pay a one off fee of about £20-30 there are no microtranations for items. Lost guild wars key+password!

I have access to my email address in which my guild wars account is registered to + know all the account info for my account. When I request a new password it redirects me to PlayNC.com to login to a master account. But I never made an online purchase or a PlayNC master account for that matter. I talked to a GM and they said they cannot do anything without my 25 digit access key but I don't have it. They said it's used to confirm identity of the original owner. But I am the original owner! How do I prove this without the access key?

1st person view

i accidentally clicked on somthing n I couldnt see my characger anymore, it's like a first person view. i dont have a mouse cuz i use a laptop...how can i get put it back the way it was before?

If your laptop has a scroll wheel somewhere on it, that's used to zoom in and out as well... Access Key

I recently just bought Guild Wars Game of The Year edition and when i opened it there was no access key nore the codes for the weapons and there was also no manual..what should I do??

ya, it is one of the main reason why used game stores will refuse to buy guild wars, the acces key is the game, you can't 'sell' a account back to the store. as fighterdoken said, double check your box, i just got GW:EN and the key was in a small folled piece of paper that had a punch out on it so you could rip around the key. might be folded up into the map or something --Sumta 11:31, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

team chat still doesnt work

I posted this before and got a suggestion to hit the "~" button.Not only it didnt work but now i cant see what iam typing in a rest of the tabs,the only one atill working is the alliance tab. I cant see the rest of them at all.Whats up with that?This is start getting really annoying

be sure that you have the team box selected at the top of the chat panel. There should be a tab for general/guild/team/trade/alliance/emotes It sounds to me as if you do not have the team chat "check box" selected. did you try clicking the actule little person there, it will cycle though the chat types. as for team chat not working, if you go to click tha tand your abel to get it to appare as a box, you may notice that next to team there is no x, click there, add the x, you should now be able to see team chat(blue) if you have this x off, you can still type in team chat but you wont see anything, not even your postings --Sumta 19:39, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Coridan-i do have the chat tab open,and pressing the hot keys do open all,guild and etc.The tab is there its just when i lets say type smthng in there i cant see anything.Lets say u typing smthg to me and only if iam standing right next to u im can see the icon appeared on top of the char but nothing appearing in particular chat.Like when u go to outpost and u u select all(wich is mean u can see people conversations from guild,trade and so on.Well i dont see anything except the alliance talking.

It sounds like you have accidentally muted the team chat channel. When the chat window is expanded, there should be check boxes for All, Guild, Party, Trade, Alliance and Emotes. If the check boxes aren't showing up then the top of the chat window is off-screen, you can reset it to its' default size and position through the Interface tab in the Options panel. -- Gordon Ecker

See Iron. You find it as a salvagable item from enemy loot or something; also can be traded to/from Merchants and other players. I have a feeling you are in the first areas of Prophecies? If so, the iron cannot be bought from a merchant. -- br12 • (talk) • 21:02, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Are you below level 20? If so, the Journey to the North buff will override your attributes based on your primary profession, weapon, offhand item and skill bar until you reach level 20. -- Gordon Ecker 04:16, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Leave EotN and try changing your attributes again, you should have no problems at all. From Lion's Arch, go through North Kryta Province, Scoundrel's Rise, Griffon's Mouth, Deldrimor Bowl, Anvil Rock, Iron Horse Mine, Traveler's Vale, Ascalon Foothills, Diessa Lowlands, The Breach and Old Ascalon to reach Ascalon City. If you finished the quests before you got the handbook, they won't show up in the book; it'll only "record" quests if the book was in your inventory when you did the quest. Why do i get random long load times

While playing in the arena's, I will get random long load times of up to 5 megs, but other times its only like 30 kbs, why the big jump?

Question about Identifying things

I know items will come with random stats after you identified them, but does it matter with which race/level you identify the item with to get a better random stats for the item. Missing Mission

I was playing the last mission before the searing and since it was my first time going through there and finishing it, the loading for Old Ascalon took a while. When I finally got it all loaded up, I saw Captain Osric but the screen changed to a loading screen of Ascalon. I had no idea why at first but then I realized that some random person that I was teamed up with was still partying with me and had already moved on. They didn't take the time to leave the party. Now I can't go back to get the mission. Is there anyway to continue the main storyline without it? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:SilverGlass .

disruptive players

Do disruptive players(ones who type crude language and doing crude movements like kneeling in front of another making it look like they are doing'something')get kicked off the game? I have seen few who have not met the requirements that I like to see while playing, and I am not a fan of playing with others who are rude and do not know how to play the game. I have only been playing for about two monthes and do not know what to do about the select few of disruptive players. I have asked others while in the outposts and have searched for a while about the subject, but have had know hits. I am not meaning on telling on any body, but would like to know about the consequenses. I am also not being harassed... I already know how to ignore people.--208.69.214.97

The options for reporting are limited, though, I'm not sure if merely being a dick constitutes a report.
